Hello;
You definitely need to be more specific on your question. However, one thing to try right of the bat is to upgrade the NI-DAQ driver version to the latest version available on our web site (version 6.9.3).
Make sure to uninstall the previous NI-DAQ version before installing the new one.

  • Does anyone have a more detailed description on the functions of the DAQ Signal Accessory Demo Box?

I have just purchased the DAQ Signal Accessory and have read the manual but like more information on the various funtions of this box. Can anyone provide more detail information or schematics?

    Joey,
That's going to be a question for the NI sales or support team.
Start by going to ni.com/ask. They may actually have something on the website. This is a very powerful site for getting support, finding software and drivers, as well as patches. If you start a support question, you will be given a bunch of links. Be sure to enter the model or name of the signal accessory as well as other pertinent information in the question, as this is the query to search all of NI's databases.
Unfortunately, I don't think you will get a schematic diagram for this. It is proprietary technology, and National Instruments is very protective of such information, as they should be.
If you have a specific question, perhaps someone here can help.

  • Command a ventilator with USB6251 and The Daq Signal Accessory

    Hello,
I would like to make a school project using Labview and the USB6251 connected  to the Daq Signal Accessory Board.
The Labview program must read continuously the temperature from the temperature sensor (AI channel 4, internally connected) from the Daq Signal Accessory Board. When the temperature reaches an established value, then a led on the front pannel must be turned on and an output singal from the Daq must start a ventilator connected to the Daq which cools down the sensor and then stops.
Would it be possible to do something like this? Even if I generate a square signal and the ventilator runs only on the high state of the signal. The ventilator requires at least 120 mV DC current. I am afraid that if I take such current from the Daq I might damage the device.
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I guess you mean 120 mA DC current . If you look at your daq board spec you will find that the max current are far bellow 120 mA. This is true for both analog out and digital out. Take a look at this site it may help out some. http://www.me.umn.edu/courses/me2011/robot/technotes/motorcontrol/motorcontrol.html cool site. If you want speed control you have two options PWM or regulating the motor voltage.
    Good luck
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

  • DAQ signal accessory and thermocouple reading fluctuations

I have a DAQ signal accessory connected to a laptop via a 6024E DAQ card. I am attempting to connect a type K thermocouple to the thermocouple port on the signal accessory and take temperature readings. The VI that I have set up is a slightly modified 'continuous thermocouple reading' example VI. I am having problems getting accurate readings. The temperature fluctuates 30-40 degrees between readings. This is impossible do to the lack of thermal variations in the environment. Please help!

Nah. I think we've isolated the problems.
It sounds like noisy inputs to the DAQ board.
As I said, TCs are very prone to noise on the line, and normally there's a filter on the TC to eliminate the noise, and just get the DC component of the TC--but you don't have that.
Therefore, to get the same effect, you're going to have to average many readings, which will in effect average out the AC component.
Another thing--if your panel (TC junction) is in a controlled environment (same temperature all the time), I would average the CJC IC voltage, and just continuously use that, rather than reading it every iteration.
Try something like this attached file.

  • DAQ Signal Accessory ve USB-6255 Bağlantısı

    Selamlar,
Elimdeki DAQ Signal Accessory'yi USB-6255 Screw Term Tipi M serisi DAQ cihazına bağlamak istiyorum (sadece analog input kanallarını kullanacağım).
ni.com/manuals'te yer alan 1996 tarihli DAQ Signal Accessory manual'inde "SH68-68 kablonun bir ucunu DAQ Signal Accessory'e diğer ucunu E serisi
DAQ cihazına bağlayın" bilgisinden başka bir bilgi yer almıyor. buradan yola çıkarak DAQ Signal Accessory üzerindeki "68 pin device (Diff mode)"
connectorüne ait pinout bilgisinin 6036E E serisi DAQ kartına ait pinout dağılımı ile aynı olduğunu söyleyebilir miyiz veya bu connector'ün pinout
bilgisine sahip olan birileri var mıdır?
Not: M series manual'inin "M series and E series pinout comparison" bölümünde gördüğüm kadarıyla sadece dijital kanallar arasında farklar bulunduğu

    Teşekkürler

    Selamlar,
    Sanırsam talebim yanlış anlaşıldı:
DAQ signal accessory'den çıkan SH68-68'in diğer ucuna bir ucu kesik SCSI 68 pin kablo takarak bağlantı yapmak istiyorum.
Ekteki resimde görüldüğü şekilde bazı pin'lerin bağlantılarını yaptım. Ancak DAQ signal accessory'nin tüm pinoutunu bilemediğim için tüm pin'leri bağlayamadım:

  • Is it possible to use PCI-1200 on the DAQ Signal Accessory?

Is it possible to use PCI-1200 on the DAQ Signal Accessory? The documentation for the Daq signal accessory did not mention explicitly whether it

    Hi,
Yes, you can. According to the manual, the DAQ Signal Accessory is compatible with Lab / 1200 series devices -- this includes the PCI-1200 card.

  • VI Not Outputting DAQ Signal

I'm working on a project which requires two different waveform outputs to two separate channels. It also includes a trigger for a computer which has a camera hooked up to it. I was provided a VI that someone previously had used for a similar project and had to learn LabVIEW "language" for the first time. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be outputting any signal through the DAQ channels. I've combed over the VI looking for anything suspiciously wrong to no avail; everything seems like it should work but it simply doesn't. I used a simple waveform generator provided with LabVIEW to generate a sine wave and it did output to my oscilloscope for both channels. I also tested all the hardware to make sure the VI was at fault. Could someone please help me figure this problem out? It would be much appreciated.

I did miss your posting of the 'reworked' code (sorry about that). So here my comments: still looks horrible! Please don't feel discouraged by this comment and keep posting. It's clearly not your fault, but you start learning LV with a bad piece of code and if you learn from this, you'd become a miserable LV-programmer. If you learn how to see the bad things and fix them, you become a good one.
    Major issues:
    * DAQ code: you configure a task as a counter and then configure it as analog output. Doesn't make sense to me. I'm pretty sure this throws an error. Can you describe what the code should do? There might be ready made examples on ni.com for this kind of task.
    * DAQ code - error handling 1: Use a shift register for the error cluster at the while loop. You might drop some errors occuring inside the while loop iteration.
    * DAQ code - error handling 2: At the while loop, stop if the stop button is pressed OR if an error occured.
    * The inherited logic to create the output signal looks rube ('rube goldberg', code that can be expressed much simplier) to me. Can you specify what it should do?
    Others:
    * Use clusters: Related controls should be placed inside a cluster (use type def's for this is good to propagate changes).
    * Icon view: It's the LV default, but better do not use the Icon view for terminals. You can change it via right-click. There is also an Option that they are dopped as terminals by default.
    * Array indexing: If you do not wire the index array function 'index`, it defaults to 0 (and subsequently 1.. if you resize it).
    * Coercion dots: you see the red dots on several functions/nodes. This is because a type cast is performed (e.g. from I32 to DBL). Try to minimize these.
I hope this helps you with improving the code.

  • Variable scale for daq signal

I hope this is not painfully simple to most of the people on this forum but I have an application where I set up a test bench to do testing on a component that have varying reponse piece-to-piece. For example, one component might have a voltage of 0.6 to 3.75 for the desired range while another can be 0.5 to 3.9.
Being a noobie, I heavily rely on DAQ Assist and this is not an option (user-input slope, etc.)  Do you know the best way to go about this?   I looked at creating a virtual channel through daqmx but it seems that it will only take a predefined scale you set up as opposed to allowing the user to define that scale.
    Please help!
    Thanks
    KM

You seem to be mixing up some terms. It seems you are talking about range of the signal that you are measuring and not the scaling.
If it really is the range, then based on your example, you probably don't need to change anything. When you provide the range values, what you are telling the DAQmx driver is what actual range of the daq device to use to best measure the signal. For example, if the device has actual ranges of +/- .1V, +/- 1V, +/- 5V, and +/- 10V, then it will use the +/- 5V range as the best fit for the signal you anticipate. So, in your example, the actual range used by the DAQ device is going to be the same. You can check the manual for the DAQ device to see what ranges are supported. If you actually do need to switch ranges, then the best thing to do is use the lower level DAQmx functions. The DAQmc Create Channel has inputs for min and max.

  • DAQ signal recording

    Dear all,
I am a new Labview user.
I would like to know whether it is possible to build a simple VI to record a signal at a certain sample rate, without specifying a priori the number of samples to be acquired. In other words, I would like to build a program that records a signal for an undetermined period of time, between the moment I start it and the moment I manually stop the acquisition. To stop the acquisition I would like to use a stop button (perhaps putting everything in a whil loop? )
Could you please tell me if there is an easy way to do it with the DAQ assistant? or do I need to convert it and program the subVI to achieve this?
Thank you, I tried to look whether anyone else already posted this questions, but I didn' t find it.
    Bye

I would personally recommend the TDMS format.  Why?  Because DAQmx does it all for you.  There's a DAQmx Advanced Task Options pallet.  Inside that pallet is the DAQmx Configure Logging (TDMS).vi.  You tell this guy where to create the log, start your task, and let it do all of the work.  Here's a quick example of how I would set it all up.

  • Noise from DAQ signals sent through a 2532 switch

    Hello,
I may have a hopeless case here, but it's worth a shot....
I am trying to send DAQ analog voltage time traces through a 2532b switch, and then to my DUT. When I measure the DUT without the switch, my noise level is very low. When I route signals through the switch to the DUT, the noise is increased (as expected) but to a degree that makes this system totally useless for my application. Is the 2532 not designed to route analog signals? Can I hope to send analog signals through my switch with say a doubling in noise instead of a 15x increase in noise?
I have posted a schematic of how my system is configured. Note that wherever possible, I am using BNCs. I even threaded the 2532 ribbon cables through a 1/2 in. tinned copper braid, so the system is about as well shielded as is possible with this hardware. I've also posted signal sent to the DUT (in this case a dummy 1Mohm resistor) using a 1Mhz sampling rate.
    Thanks, everyone!

    Hi Frank,
Sorry I should have included more information. The DAQ is outputting a voltage signal, for example a 1Hz 1V sin wave. This signal serves as the external voltage source for a potentiostat, such that the potentiostat sources the signal it receives from the DAQ. The potentistat has hi and low leads (working electrode and counter electrode) which are routed through the switch before going to the DUT. The potentiostat then measures the actual applied voltage and the measured current and outputs them as voltage signals which are fed directly into the DAQ.
The breakout boxes are all shielded and so are the cables. The DUT is in a faraday cage.
As far as noise sources, the building ground is not terrific but it is pretty good. 60hz noise is present, but the fft spectrum of the noisy signal also contains prominent signals at 80kHz and higher. The potentiostat is designed for high bandwidth, low current applicaitons and so has very favorable noise. The PXIe is the only computer on in the room, and all electronics are plugged into a isolated power supply (it think it is generically called a UPS). I've turned off all other equipment in the room including the lights.
Anyways, the noise only shows up when I route the signal from the potentiostat through the switch. When I send the signal from the potentiostat directly to the DUT, the noise is great (see attachments in previous posts). I would blame the extra noise on a ground loop except that as I have set it up, routing the signal through the switch does not introduce any extra paths to ground.
Thanks for taking a look at this!

  • MAX unable to recognize software/hardware

    Hi
I re-installed Labview 7.1 multiple times without success. For some reason, the Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) does not recognize any of my National Instrument software that I have installed, nor does it recognize the DAQ Signal Accessory device that I have plugged into my PCI-6251 slot. When I open MAX, the software and hardware panel on the left side shows nothing. Has anyone encountered such a problem? What are some possible solutions?

    Hi Peter,
It could be that some of the data files that MAX looks at are
preventing new information from working.  In order to make sure
that some old files are not interfering with your present operation
    follow the steps below:
Go to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MAX and find the Data folder.
Copy this folder to a different location and rename it.
    Delete the original Data folder.
    Reboot your computer
    Launch MAX
Refresh Devices (View > Refresh F5)
You should be able to now see your devices in MAX.  If you are
still having problems, see if you can run an example program without
setting up the devices in MAX.  If you are able to do that we can
see if the problem is in MAX, LabVIEW, or maybe the devices cannot be
    seen by the operating system.
    Best of luck!

  • DAQ Input Signal into Array

    Hi,
I have an input (voltage) signal comming into my DAQ assistant (6008). This information displays well into a chart, but I also want to covert the same data into array format so that I can do further calculations. So, basically I would like to put a DAQ signal into an array. I'm having a lot of trouble doing so, please help,
    thank you
    Nick

    Hello Nick,
I can use the function "From DDT" in the Function palette Express -> Signal Manipulation.
When you place it on the block diagram, a windows opens and you can configure: 1D Array of Scalar - Automatic.

  • Software Updates for Remote PXI System/DAQ-mx Self Test

    1) In MAX, I'm attempting to run the Labview Realtime Software Installation Wizard. When I select the software for install, I get an error "Cannot Process Install because other Dependencies are required: Labview RT 7.1.1". What should I do to correct the problem? I'm trying to update both DAQMx and Traditional DAQ from 7.2 to 7.3. The wizard actually indicates that the remote system only has 7.2, and that it sees that 7.3 is available.
    2) Also in MAX in the Remote System Tree, I get an error when trying to perform a self test on my PXI-6025 card, or when I attempt to reset it. The error code is 88705. I noticed on another post that there might be the need to perform a repair of the installation. This was done for both DAQMx and Tranditional DAQ, neither of which fixed the problem.
    3) In MAX I have used the Tools>>Traditional NI-DAQ Configuration>>Remote DAQ Configuration to configure my PXI-6025 DAQ channels, accessory, device #, etc. I then proceed to run a Analog Input VI on the remote system by correctly targeting it and selecting i.e. channel 0. No errors occur. However when I try and select "Browse" under the channel control, the "Select Names" window pops up empty. I would assume that this window would pop up with the DAQ channel names assigned during the channel configuration of the PX-6025??? Whats missing here?
    Thanks
    Pete.

    Hi Pete,
I'm assuming you are using LabVIEW RT 7.1, since that is a requirement for using DAQmx. Here are my responses for your three issues:
    1) You are correct in assuming you can upgrade the DAQ drivers in the manner you outlined, normally that works fine. However, as the following KnowledgeBase points out, the list of dependencies vary for different installs.
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/F5D80FBE806B4B9D86256F0F005630CF?OpenDocument
Do you have LabVIEW RT 7.1.1 installed, which appears to be the required dependency? If not, you may download this from ni.com>>Drivers and Updates
    http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/MainPage?ReadForm&node=132010_US
If so, but the problem persists, please post all versions of your software so I can determine where the incompatibility lies.
    2) After we take care of upgrading the DAQ drivers, let's see if the 88705 error goes away, it might take care of it.
    3) Again, all the steps you described are correct. It might be that all these problems are related and due to a bad install of NI-DAQ.
When a number of software issues like this arise all at once, it might be best to just re-format the controller and perform a fresh install of everything. Often times that will correct the erroneous behavior.

  • How can i control the DAQ directly from VB

Actually, it is my first trial to use Visual Basic to get signal from DAQ.
And i don't how to interface them. I have read an article to use DataSocket.
However, it demostrated the OPC demo in OPC sever only, and so i didn't know
how to get the signal directly from DAQ card to monitor the real-time
    signal.
Also, i have tried to build a .dll from my VI file which is used to monitor
the DAQ signal. However, the .dll file didn't have any return value or
argument, did it mean i can use this method?
And how can i interface the DAQ using VB?and my ADC model is AT-MIO-16E-2!
    Thank you very much

    Hi Sen,
Are you using Measurement Studio ? If so then you can use the DAQ activeX controls.
If not and you are using VB directly, then NI-Daq installs with examples for visual basic ( if you chose the option while installing- if not do a custom install and choose VB support). If so then you should find them under Program Files ->National Isntruments->NI-DAQ->Examples->VisualBasic. These may help you.
Essentially NI-DAQ ships with a .bas file that contains the "declares" for the NI-DAQ dll functions. These files should be in
Program Files ->National Isntruments->NI-DAQ->Includes (look for the .bas files) You can add these to your project to get access to the DAQ functions..
On the second question, do you mean you are using labVIEW to create your dll ? If this
is the case, then when you create your dll (in labVIEW's applciation builder) you have to set the parameters for the function (VI) and also the VI's return values. This will ensure that you can make use of your VI ..If you don't set a return value you really can't use it...Once you set the return value ,and create a dll, then you can use it like any other dll in Visual basic.
    Hope this helps...
