DataSocket SelectURL method fails with Measurement Studio and vista

The application uses the datasocket .SelectURL method to browse compact fieldpoint OPC items but the following error is raised:
System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

This method works with Windows XP Pro however.
The Development Environment includes:
MS Visual Studio 2008 with SP1
Measurement Studio 8.5.0 for VS 2008
Windows Vista Business
Is there a workaround to browse OPC items?

Hi Barrett,
I would like to verify that the PC with Vista installed can see the OPC item. Do you have an alternative programming language which you can use to verify communication? If not, you may try Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). If you do not see the fieldpoint in MAX, I would try the suggestions outlined in this KnowledgeBase article.
How to Network FieldPoint to a Host Computer with Ethernet
It would also be helpful if you could provide a bit more information about your setup. I'm particularly interested in what .NET language you are using within Visual Studio (C#, VB.NET, C++, etc.). I may have to try and reproduce the behavior on my end, so if you could provide as much detail as possible it would be helpful. Thanks Barrett!

First of all I suggest you this FAQ.
You can connect and configure cFP 2000 from MAX through NI-Field Point and Labview Real Time.
You have to use Labview Real Time to program an application on the cFP 2000.
Comms to Labview and Measurement Studio can be realized through OPC Shared Variable and TCP/IP. In the last option you will have to program your own server in labview RT and deal with multiple client stuff.

Transport of Transformation failed with RC= 12 and job: RDDEXECL cancelled in Target sytem

Gurus,
When i am importing the workbench request from dev to qty.
I am getting error : Program terminated (job: RDDEXECL, no.: 22321300).
Transformation contains only Endroutine.
Job log:
Job started
Step 001 started (program RDDEXECL, variant , user ID DDIC)
All DB buffers of application server xxxxxx were synchronized
The internal session was terminated with the runtime error UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION (see ST2
Job cancelled.
When i see the dump it is througing errror at the method of following class.
CL_RSO_TLOGO_PERSISTENCY-CHECK_INITIALIZED

Hi Ashok,
In QA use program "RSTRAN_ROUT_RSFO_CHECK" to check and remove any inconsistencies for the transformations. After that again transport those transformations in new TR and import in QA.
Also you have to search "Transport of Transformation failed with RC= 12 and job: RDDEXECL canceled in Target system" by Dinesh Tiwari.

Howdy Biswajit,
The IMAQ and Vision ActiveX controls you are using with Visual Basic 6 do not install with Measurement Studio. They are installed when you install the IMAQ software and include support for Visual Studio 6. Upgrading to Measurement Studio 8.0.1 will have no effect on your IMAQ controls since they are not related to one another. Purchasing Measurement Studio Professional or Enterprise packages allows you Visual Studio 6 support for other ActiveX components. Refer to this link for a list of ActiveX components included in those packages.

What is the main difference in Measurement Studio and NIDAQmx. I have a DAQ software, which was initially developed in M Visual C++ 2003, which was originally using Measurement Studio. Now I want to replace measrement studio by NIDAQmx latest release. Is it Possible to do it?

Measurement Studio is an extension to Visal Studio, which contains a variety of libraries for measurement applications as well as user interface elements like graphs.
DAQmx is the hardware driver framework for NI Multifunction DAQ devices. If you use a DAQ board you need this driver to access it, with any programming environment (LabVIEW, CVI, C, C++, .NET).
This means you can access the hardware also with Visual Studio, which has no Measurement Studio installed. Though Measurement Studio makes analysing and presenting the acquired data much easier.

ERROR - the ProtectKeyWithTPMAndPIN Method failed with the exit code: 8031005B

I am using the EnableBitlocker.vbs script to automatically assign the TPM and start the encryption. I am running it from an elevated command prompt. Here is are the arguments I am running with

All is well and it prompts the user for a PIN but then it fails.
Here is the full log file. I haven't been able to find any info on the error code in the subject.

This error indicates that the group policy isn't set correctly, when configure the group policy at teh server side, you should notice that only one of the additional authentication can be required at start up , otherwise a policy occurs, the notice can be
found just like below:
and after test, the error indeed occurs, just like the screen below:
So, I suggest to check the group policy for bitlocker settings, you can only choose one start up authentication method.

I've had the same problem. We know from other (more meaingful) error messages that we ran out of space for the Pageable Cache, but we've just increased it by 50GB and still get the same error.
Anyone??
Btw i don't think you there is a setting for PCache size - it will just use all the free disk you have on the drive where you have located the PCache directory.

The Flash Player download keeps failing with lost connection and then gives up.I am on a satellite Internet connection.
It seems to be extremely slow even when loading the installer which is only 1MB. Then when I run the installer and it starts to download the installation there are frequent messages about losing the connection and then finally gives up.
I have had problems with other software failing when I am on a satellite link. This is most likely because of the huge latency which may be taken as a link failure. Ping times are typically 800ms but can be 2000ms sometimes!

The online shim installer, which you are using actually downloads and installs Flash Player silently in the background. If your satelite connection is experiencing latency issues it could result in the failure to download. Please try the full installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page, in the 'Still having problems' section.

Scanning with Kodak i65 and Vista

Hi,
I am having trouble 'Creating a PDF from Scanner' with a Kodak i65 scanner. Everytime I attempt to scan a document with Acrobat 8 and Vista I receive a scanning failed message. The 'Scan Validation Tool' scans documents fine to the .tiff format however when I try to scan documents with Acrobat 8 it doesn't work and I get 'Scanning failed.'
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the exact same problem. Except I have the Kodak i30 Scanner. I have Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2 (with the Security Update 1 installed).
In the past, I ran the following configurations on an older computer with no problems:
- Windows XP & Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 (with all of its various updates)
- Windows Vista & Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 (with all of its various updates)
- Windows Vista & Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2 (with the Security Update 1 installed)
However, when I built a new computer, installed Windows Vista Ultimate, installed the Kodak i30 Scanner, I receive a "Scanning failed." error everytime I try to scan directly into Acrobat.
BTW, I HAVE "tried with latest Scan Validation Tool and firmware update from Kodak site." Updating the SVT and firmware neither helped nor hurt.
Has anyone had a successful fix to this issue?

Problems with 1.5 and vista - audio recording

Hello. I have PP 1.5. I have an Audio Techinca AT2020USB microphone. I have a couple different computers running 1.5 - The one that has XP as an OS, I can use the mic to record audio. On the computer that runs Vista, I can not. Is anyone aware of any patch or anything that will allow me to make this work?

As Jim points out, CS3 was the first Vista-certified version, though many did get PrPro 2.0 to run on it.
Now, if PrPro 1.5 is running otherwise, you might have some luck with http://www.asio4all.com You'll need to download this freeware, install it, and then point PrPro to it in Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware>Asio Settings for input and output.

I have tested DAQCard-AI-16XE-50 on Max, it works fine all analog channels, the device nubmer is 1. So, in my program I am using this device number, checking the sample rate no more than 20kHz and no analog output function in my program, but it still doesn't works. Does CWAI works with DAQCard-AI-16XE-50? The DAQ driver version is 6.9.2.

Converting a Labview time into a string with Measurement Studio C++

In my Measurement Studio-based C++ application, I'll be sent a Labview
time in the format of a double, which I believe is seconds since 1904.
Does Measurement Studio for Visual C++ contain a function that will
convert that time value into a string format? I'd like to end up with
something like "hh:mm:ss:msec". I'm basically looking for the
equivalent of the Labview vi, "Format Time/Date String". If Measurement
Studio doesn't provide this, is there some other (hopefully simple) way
to do this?
I can request that the Labview application send me time in a string
format as well as a double; this will require several changes to the
Labview application sending the timestamp, but if that is a simpler
solution that's the option we'll take.

Measurement Studio does not have a function for this, but you can do
this yourself by first converting from LV epoch (1/1/1904) to Unix
epoch(1/1/1970) and then using c runtime time functions
UNIXEpochOffset is the difference between the 2 epochs at GMT. To
convert to a UNIX system clock value, just subtract the sum of this
number and your time zone offset in seconds
lvTime is the value returned by LV timestamp
