Transporting DataSources in (ECC) problem

Hi SCN,
Just wanted to ask if these are only the two important nodes when collecting and transporting an enhanced datasource?
I am currently transporting datasources from ECC DEV to ECC QAS. When reviewing my datasources in QAS, append structures were not transported.
- What I did here was to transport datasources from RSA6. I though it would carry all the changes made in the datasource but it was just the active datasources.
So I collected the datasources again in a new TR; collecting the requests only in one TR (as per discussions in SCN). First is re-activating the append structure; putting it in a new TR, then collecting the active datasource.
I am just having doubts if I am missing a step since the (Go To -> Object Directory Entry) is not letting me make a new transport inside the extract structure (double clicking the datasource; double clicking the extract structure; then object directory entry), thus, I am not able to collect the standard extract structure table (or is this because the datasource I am transporting is a standard one?).

I always thought that I need to collect it in one TR (Active datasource, Extract Structure and Table Structures). But, it was okay to have the append structure in another TR.
What I did was to transport the DataSource then followed by the append structure's TR. It's all good now.

Hi,
In your issue i thick data source trace in BW is not possible but RFC is the main criteria here if it is correct data will comes to the bw automatically when ever info package triggers.
If you need to check the data source data in trace mode and it is not coming properly, then we need to check from RSA3 by executing with debug mode check box option.

0PM_CATIND & 0PM_PLANIND where is text datasource in ecc,0PM_OPER install

I have 0PM_CATIND - Maint.Orders Category Indicator and 0PM_PLANIND - Maint.Orders Planning Indicator in BI, where to find its text datasource in ECC, i havent found in ECC rsa5, is such text datasource required to create?
2) I have 0PM_OPER - Operation Number for PM is new master Infoobject in PM where Maintanance order is compound,
I have install it but it installed only with infoobject not any attribute or trasferrule or updaterule, Is it required to do manually mapped with any datasource? or required to copy its attribute from other master infoobject attribute?
if anybody have workerd already on this Info object.

ECC 6 Datasource in ECC 5

We're running BI 7 with an ECC 5 source system. I'm interested in a datasource (0PM_MEASUREMENT) that help.sap.com says is Available as of Release SAP ECC 6.0. Of course, I can't see it currently in RSA5.
My question is, short of completely upgrading the source system to ECC 6, is there a way to get this datasource? Is there some smaller unit of software I can install?

If you want it on ECC 5.0 then create a view on table IMPTT and IMRG (join will be on Fields Measuring Point (POINT) and Client (MANDT).
Then create a generic extractor based on this view.

Relicate Datasources from ECC to BW

Hi,
I ran into a issue while using newest version of BW system. In old version, i did not have to choose such as image below when i relicated my datasources.
When dialog box appeared, i have chose as above, but, i could not create infoPackage for my infoCube.
Please help with this issue.

In r/3 go to the RSA3 and give the ur data source name and execute it it shows how many records are there then in b/ when u r extracting the monitar tab u can see how many records are extracted.if u want detailed level that object /bic/pxxxx (xxx= object name) will give the attiribute table /bic/txxx will give the text table and likethat /bic/fxxxx(xxxxx= cube name) for transaction data for cube loading.

Datasource classification

I have a classification datasource (1CL_........) in production system.
Now the question is Characteristic names for this datasource in ECC (in CTBW tcode) dosent match with the field name of Datasource in BI.
How and why are they differnt? Am i missing something here

Hi BIT,
Can you post the data source name and the field names which you are getting different names in both the systems?
Once you replicate the data source there is no chance of miss match of the fields what ever the fields exist in the ECC with the same structure will be replicated to BW system.
there may be difference in names between ecc field and the BW info object not the datasource fields.

It is warning only the interanal table adjustment only , it will not be a problem , the data sources are activated
sae data sources u can find in RSA6 replicate in BI and see the data extraction and Check in RSA3 also.

How to activate business content extractor for masterdata in ECC 6.0?

Hi Experts,
I have a small problem with the extracttor 0PS_RESPNO_TEXT in ECC 6.0?
If i try to open it in RSA2 / RSA6, it says that active version not available. When i check in the developement system, i have it as modified version.
For this problem, I hope activating this in Development and transporting to Prodction should fix.
As far as i know, activation of sap delivered extractors can be done through SBIW or RSA5. But i have not done this before.
Can anybody please help me with step by step procedure to activate this and also what are the precautions and checks that need to be preformed?

It depends on which BW environment has an RFC connection to the ECC environment you're activating the DataSource in. Typically, environments are paired, similar (but not always) like the depiction below:
ECC Development <-> BW Development
ECC QA <-> BW QA
ECC Production <-> BW Production
Best Practices suggest that a DataSource be activated and put on a transport in the ECC Development environment. Upon activation of the DataSource in ECC Development, replication of the DataSource in the BW Development environment can take place and Best Practices suggest putting the DataSource on a transport in BW. As the ECC transport is promoted throughout the ECC landscape, the BW transport is promoted throughout the BW landscape in order to keep them in sync.
So, if the envrionment that you've just activated the DataSource has an RFC connection to your BW Production environment, you can replicate in BW Production and if that's your standard practice, then that's the way your should do it. It's typically, however, not considered a Best Practice to be able to create, update or delete in a production environment.

I am getting ready to join our Procurement team as the BI developer and I will appreciate any hints to help on this project.:
1. What are the procument related datasources?
2. What type of reports are desired here?
3. What is the typical data flow in this environment?
3b. What are the processes involved in procurement the the SAP BI developer needs to know?
4. Any hints or ideas in succeeding in this SAP BI procurement environment?
5. Is procument considered Logistic(LO)? And hence involves setup tables, etc
6. In general, is there a link or document which discusses the processes in the various functional areas in SAP?

I find the site very informative but I still do not find the datasources used in extracting the data from the ECC.
For example, the DSO 0PUR_O02 only mentions that
u201C The ODS supports a Delta update of the InfoSource 2LIS_02_HDR and of the ODS 0PUR_O01.u201D
without pointing out the datasource feeding the ODS 0Pur_O02.
I see the various reports and Infoproviders, such as 0Pur_O02 but can you show me the datasource from ECC feeding this DSO, and how do you make that link? From the site?

If there is no Application Component Hierarchy in tcode RSA5 in your source ECC system, go to tcode SBIW and then drill down to:
Data Transfer to the SAP Business Information Warehouse > Business Content DataSources > Transfer Application Component Hierarchy
After transferring the Application Component Hierarchy, or if it already exists, go to tcode RSA5 and drill down through to:
SAP > SAP R/3 > FI > FI-AR
Here you will find all of the AR DataSources that are available for use. To find out what these DataSources are for, please use the SAP Help Portal at: [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/ee/cd143c5db89b00e10000000a114084/frameset.htm]. If you're source environment is ECC6 EHP3 or EHP4, there are expanded standard content for BW based on the New Genreal Ledger Reporting functionality (caveat: this has to have been configured for use in your ECC environment by your FI functional staff).
