Date losing HH:MM:SS

I'm using a oracle.jbo.domain.Date class to persist absolute time/date stamps; these are supposed to be used to trigger execution of an activity at a later date. Unfortunately, I'm seeing the time component being truncated from the Date when it's persisted (stored to the table). All the javadoc indicates what I'm doing will work, and that the Date stores YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM:SS - when I retrieve (or even look in the table), I only get YYYY/MM/DD.
Help!

Is your jdbc=sqltype for this attribute marked as DATE or TIMESTAMP. It should be TIMESTAMP.
Also you may use java.sql.Timestamp as your attribute type as oracle.sql.DATE (on which oracle.jbo.domain.Date is based) does not handle the timestamp bits appropriately. In future Bc4J will include oracle.jbo.domain.Timestamp to handle native timestamp implementation.

  • Formatted Data Losing its Value Upon Entering Crystal Reports

    Post Author: Horizon57
    CA Forum: General
I am having an issue where I have tables of data in Access with the correct formatting (i.e. $, %, etc.) and when I create a table or graph in Crystal Reports, the formatting does not show up. Something that is 46.78% in Access, shows up in the following format (0.47) and dollar signs ($$) do not even show up. I am sure its not just a display issue with the data, because when I right click on a field in the field explorer and select the "Browse Data" option, the formatting is also missing in the same way that it is missing once that data is brought onto the report itself.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix this issue? I would like to avoid having to apply specific formatting to each field in each subreport using Crystal Reports (That could take hours!)
    Thanks

I have sometimes also reproduced this behaviour without waiting these 3 minutes (more or less immediately).
In addition, after reproducing this behaviour, the fileds becomes read only and you can not write any more data in it. ¿?

  • Cellular Data losing money

When my IPhone 3GS is attached to Cellular Data the money I have drops. As I am on PAYG this is working out expensive. Any ideas why please.

Have now tried the sim in a C6-01 and there were no problems al at all with data connection. So now I'm guessing that there's a problem with the APN for this sim in the Lumia. Unfortunately the Network Setup app runs ok but is not fixing the problem.
If I reset the phone to clear the APNs, should I reset it with the sim in or out?
Also, on the subject of resetting, my problem seems to be the same as the one detailed here:
    /t5/Nokia-with-Windows-Phone/APN-configuration-problem-Lumia-800/m-p/1232545/highlight/true#M1713
...but in their case resetting did not fix the problem.
Please please, anybody know what's going on here and now to fix it?  Surely sombody from Nokia must understand what is going on?
    Thanks,

    Abstract
On the basis of the authors? experience of setting up an NGDC Web site, this paper attempts to present some significant aspects about the security of NGDC based on ASP. They include data storing, database maintenance, new technical support and so on. Firstly, this paper discusses how to provide the security of data which is saved in the host of NGDC. The security model of ?New works ?DB Sever-DB-DB Object? is also presented. In Windows NT Server, Internet Information Server (I IIS) is in charge of transferring message and the management of Web sites. ASP is also based on IIS. The advantages of virtual directory technique provide by IIS are emphasized.
An NGDC Web site, at the Research Center of GIS in Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping is also mentioned in this paper. Because it is only an analogue used for case study, the transmission of digital spatial products is not included in the functions in this NGDC Web site. However, the management of spatial metadata is more important and some functions of metadata query are implemented in it. It is illustrated clearly in the functional diagram of the NGDC Web site.
    1 Introduction
Needless to say, it is very important for most GIS users to acquire and integrate the geospatial information from various districts. However, the current situation of geospatial information production and dissemination in the world is still unsatisfactory. On one hand, users do not know where the geospatial data files are stored and what geospatial data is useful for their applications, or have not necessary computer facilities. On the other hand, due to the lack of coordination and cooperation, the duplication of geospatial data production widely exists. Most of geospatial information is stored by different organizations including governmental organizations, commercial companies. What?s more, the lack of geospatial data exchange and sharing mechanism results in relative low benefit of geospatial data use. It is difficult for some products to get necessary information from other producers to integrate with or to update their own databases. In short, the value of geospatial information has not been shown exactly in GIS industry of China.
It is obvious that the information distribution technique based on Internet can play a great role in GIS industry. National Geospatial Data Clearinghouse users will be able to query what geospatial data is being produced, how about is quality, where it is produced, and how to get the geospatial data economically and conveniently.
    2 NGDC and ASP technology
As mentioned above, NGDC is a geospatial information distributed network system which is concerned with geospatial data producers, managers and users. So the relationship among them must be harmonized. The NGDC provides the service of geospatial information through internet. In detail, it will allow various data formats to exist in this opened geospatial information service system and it supports the share and query of the geospatial data from different sources. The main mission of NGDC is to offer a means of fast, efficient, safe, economical service of geospatial data provision to users. At the same time, it will offer means for data providers to advertise their new products and collect users? demands and feedbacks in order to promote the geospatial data production.
To date, the model of NGDC is usually described as a provider-oriented model. In this model, every geospatial data provider is linked with internet as an NGDC node... user?s access NGDC nodes through internet and browses the catalogues of geospatial data stored in NGDC, and then they query the metadata about the available products for their applications. After selecting the desired data set, the user can send an order to the relevant producer on-line or by E-mail system. If users can not find the geospatial data available in this NGDC node for their applications, they will be able to access other NGDC nodes.
So the construction of NGDC is concerned with the planning and maintenance of dynamic Web sites linked with internet. Since Active Server Pages (ASP) came out with its peculiar characteristics several years ago, which is applied to the construction of more and more dynamic Web sites in the diverse fields? In comparison with common gateway interface (CGI), ASP is more effective and flexible as a server scripts environment.
With html pages, script commands and active X components, ASP can set up dynamic, interactive and efficient Web server programs. It is not important whether browsers can run those ASP codes, because all of ASP programs including scripts plugged in html, such as VBScript, JScript, are executed in servers. ASP programs will send a series of commands to the script engine, and then the script engine translates the commands into some codes which can be executed by servers. After running the executive codes, the results will be sent by servers to users? browsers in html. In this way, it is sufficient for browsers to have basic function of browse. As a result, the speed of the system increases rapidly.
NGDC Web site provides users with a catalogue of geospatial data entity, data entity and the relevant metadata. Therefore it is inevitable to access various databases in the construction of NGDC. It is convenient to connect database systems with ASP plug-in Active X components, so Web pages can be linked to all kinds of databases which provide ODBC interfaces for other programs. Active X components provide the objects whose tasks are to finish certain functions. So Active X components are of great significance in setting up Web programs.
3 Research on security of NGDC
This paper attempts to present some significant aspects about the security of NGDC base on ASP, such as data storing, database, maintenance, new technical supporting and so on.
    3.1 Security of data storing
The information stored in NGDC includes geospatial data, relevant metadata and catalogues of data products. The maintenance of all the information is a very hard task. Of course, the security of data storing is included in it. From the point of system maintenance, the security of data storing in NGDC is concerned with disk error-tolerance and back-up supporting.
With the rapid development of manufacturing technique of hard disk, the life-span of hard disk has been lengthened. Disk error-tolerance decreases usually the possibility of data-losing because of errors of hard disks. It is inevitable that some errors cannot be limited in spite of any error-tolerance system. In order to maintain the security of data, the significance of data should be assessed firstly and so should the loss of data-losing. There are three kinds of dump plans for database or data files: full data dump, increment data dump and combination of them. As in NGDC the need of data back-up depends on its significance.
    3.2 Security of database maintenance
As for popular large-scale database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase, Oracle, Informix, security maintenance is implemented by four levels of ?New works ?DB Sever-DB-DB Object? security model. Every user has his network login ID and his password, with which the user ID and the password, users can login into network. Take Windows NT Server for example, Windows NT Server provides some security maintaining methods such as encoded password, minimum password length and so on.
In general, network cannot automatically permit its network users to access databases in it. The fact that a user can access databases does not mean that he can automatically access databases in it. Only those users who have their database user IDs stored in system tables in database can access database.
    3.3 Security with ASP
In the environment of Windows NT Server, Internet Information Server (IIS) is in charge of distributing information and maintenance of Web sites. ASP is also based on IIS. When users access some ASP files in their browsers, the relevant ASP scripts will run in server and the results will be sent users in Web pages.
Virtual directories are different from physical directories in hosts or servers. Net work administrators may make good use of the mechanism of virtual directory in order to maintain the security. IIS supports virtual directory which plays a great role in the security maintenance of Web sites. Firstly, virtual directory conceals the information about actual directory structure. In normal browsers, users can get the path information of a certain Web site; the directory information of Web sites will be exposed to users linked with Internet. As a result, it is easy for the Web sites to be attacked by hikers. Secondly, it is convenient to transfer the WWW service from one server to another without updating the code in Web pages if there is the same virtual directory structure in two servers. Finally, when putting Web pages into virtual directories, administrators can assign different attributes to the directories. For example, in the construction of NGDC Web site, it is important to put normal html files and ASP files into different virtual directories. The attribute of directories in which normal html files are stored may be ?Read? while the attribute of directories in which ASP files are stored may be ?Execute?. On one hand, it simplifies the maintenance and management of NGDC Web sites. On the other hand, ASP source files will never be sent to user browsers. In other words, hikers cannot get the ASP source codes through their browsers. Thus it improves the security of ASP files.
4 An NGDC model Web site in WTUSM
Some other security aspects in operational model, programming, management in the plan and construction of NGDC should be concerned. As an example the construction of an NGDC model Web site is presented below in order to explain the security maintenance of NGDC in detail. On the basis of authors? research on relevant problems, this NGDC model Web site was planned and deployed in early 1999. As a model project, the purpose of construction of this Web site is to provide some useful experiences for other projects on NGDC. Therefore the process of geospatial metadata plays a great role in this Web site. In fact, there are not actual geospatial data products stored in this NGDC model Web site. The main task of this Web site is to provide relevant geospatial metadata services, so the functions of data product maintenance cannot be found. Geospatial metadata is stored into meta-database in Microsoft SQL Server. With ?New works -DB Sever-DB-DB Object? security model in Microsoft SQL Server, the relations between user and access rights are set up. In order to simplify the problem, those two tasks are assigned to two DB users. One is a user who is the owner of DB objects. (Of course, he has all rights to access, update and delete DB objects); the other is a normal user who can only access DB objects such as tables. While developing ASP programs in the integrate developing environment of Microsoft Interdev, the functions may be fulfilled by script programs running either in clients or in servers. As a result, it improves the confidentiality of ASP programs and the efficiency of NGDC service system.
In the NGDC Web site, something has been done in order to improve the security of operation: a table named providers? information table is stored in NGDC to keep some useful information about relevant geospatial data providers, such as name, ID, passwords, contact methods and son on. The information may be a long, irregular string whose length is less than 1024. It is produced and maintained by NGDC. The providers? information table is stored in the server in NGDC. In this way, data producers provide geospatial products together with their identifying information through Internet.
    5 Conclusions
In short, it is very convenient and efficient to distribute geospatial data in the NGDC nodes through internet. On the other hand, with the development and construction of NGDC, there will come more and more challenges and problems about the security of NGDC. Obviously some researches and discussions in this field need to be further carried on.

We have two ways to achieve this scenario
1.Going with PCR where we Query No of Years Completed
    2. Going for Custom Function
In the above two ways  we have to maintain the year of completion in Date Specification Either Manually or Thorugh Dynamic Action which shd automaticallly update....IT00041
I prefer the second one since PCR is some wht complicated

  • 2 iPods on iTunes didn't work...

I have had iTunes set up for my 6o gig video ipod for a few months, always with the "manually manage updates" option checked. Recently, I added a new 4 gig Nano to the same iTunes program, and uploaded music from my library onto it (still with the "manually manage updates" option on). The next time I connected my video iPod, though, iTunes recognized it as the Nano and updated it with the Nano's music and data-- losing all my video's content and any reference to the existence of the 60 gig device on iTunes.
My problem is that the video iPod shows a hard-drive space of 40 gigs-- equivalent to my erased music PLUS the Nano music that (I think) replaced it.
Sorry for the long post, but if anyone has any idea of how to access my old iPod content, your help would be much appreciated.
    thanks!

You may also need to restore your iPod...
    Restore the iPod
(And make sure the drive letter change stuck (after the restore)).
Finally, are you connecting directly to the computer or through a USB hub? Have you tried a different USB port?

  • The document could not be opened

I was working on a Numbers '08 document that consists of a few sheets. Last saved it an hour or so ago and now it won't open saying "The document "blahblah" could not be opened". Of course, there is no fresh backup as I have just entered a ton of data in the last few hours. There is a log being posted to Console that looks like a few lines in the form of +Numbers[538]: Object (0x3024500 of class __NSDictionary0) named "NSMutableDictionary-0" was already registered with another name "NSMutableDictionary-16".+ followed by +Numbers[538]: Caught the following exception while trying to open blahblah.numbers, * -[NSCFArray insertObject:atIndex:]: attempt to insert nil+, followed by more lines that look like +Numbers[538]: NameKeyHashSet and ObjectHashMap out of sync: object map entry for __NSDictionary0 0x3024500 references name "NSMutableDictionary-0" instead of "NSMutableDictionary-44"+, and the last line is +Numbers[538]: Failed to open document, but no unrecoverable error+. I tried downloading iWork 09 trial, updated to the latest version in Software Update, same error. The document does display in QuickLook though. Trashed the prefs, restarted, all to no avail. Is there any app that understands the Numbers format that could be used to open/import and reexport the data, or perhaps some tool to fix the affected document? All other Numbers documents I tried open fine.
On a (probably) unrelated note: after updating to Snow Leopard both Pages and Numbers stopped showing anything in the Open Recent submenu. Not sure it might be in any way related.
I'll appreciate any ideas on what to try as I absolutely don't fancy re-typing all that data again into a new document.
    TIA

    Why "of course" ?
When we work seriously, we save seriously and you didn't do that.
Saving seriously means: save every 10 (about) minutes and keep the result of these repeated save task.
No matter whether I work seriously or not, I have a habit of pressing Command-S every 1-2 minutes whenever it's available. I do this automatically and without thinking, ever since I started using Word 6. Used to work for me until today and needless to say, I have never seen documents get corrupted like that, for no obvious reason. If by "seriously" you mean cloning my HD every 10 minutes, then I guess I'm not very serious about saving my progress. Then again, I don't work for NASA.
The minimal scheme is to use only save but activate the preference named "Back up previous version before saving".
I wasn't aware of this option, thanks for pointing it out to me. Hopefully it will work for future incidents like this (although if Numbers is prone to such nasty data-losing bugs perhaps it's time to change the application).
Given what you describe, the index.xml file describing the contents of your document is missing or corrupted.
It's not missing, but obviously corrupted.
You are a lucky guy as you may read the doc thanks to Quicklook.
    I guess..
I am able to rebuild a document when the index is corrupted but readable with TextWrangler but I do that only for users working seriously !
I might as well recreate it all from scratch.
Perhaps I should rephrase my questions:
    • is this a known situation (a newly introduced bug related to Snow Leopard or something?) and if so perhaps someone may have come up with a way to fix the document?
    • or are there any apps that understand enough of the Numbers format that might just import the data from the document without getting stuck on whatever it is that Numbers gets stuck on?
    • any other ideas that might actually help?

  • Working with scans of old photo collection

I'm trying to use iPhoto 8.0.2 to organize my grandmother's photos, with the end goal of sharing with family on Flickr.
So, an old photo collection which has been scanned.
First, dating. I'd like to be able to order photos chronologically.
I could change the photo dates (losing one link to the original scanned collections (events) which correspond to physical envelopes of actual originals). iPhoto seems to insist upon a month/day/year, and cannot handle anything less than that. Photos that are identified with just a year, or month/year for example. Not to mention the ones that I'll try to estimate a year based upon the apparent ages of the people in them.
Another approach would be to use keywords to tag photos with a year. But then, if I want to use keywords for another reason, I think I lose the ability to sort them in chronological order. Haven't checked out whether one can restrict range in a keyword sort. Or if keywords can be assigned some structure that can be used in the selection/sorting process.
A second concern is keeping the connection clear between the scanned images and the original photos (who has them, where they came from). Hopefully other family might share, so this will grow beyond grandma's photos. Careful editing of event titles should address this. But then I don't think I can create sub-events, right? Is there a way to cluster events together? For example, if my cousin sends me more of grandma's photos, is there a way to associate the new batch with the first set, other than defining an event naming convention?
Thank you for any help you can give on the above questions. I'd especially appreciate thoughts from others working with an 'old' photo collection regarding these issues (dating, keeping the connection between paper & electronic originals), as well as others you've encountered that I haven't thought of yet.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
First, dating. I'd like to be able to order photos chronologically.
iPhoto will get the date of the photo from either the Exif data or the File creation date. As these are scanned photos they will have no Exif data,a nd so their dates will be the date they were scanned, regardless of the subject of the photo.
The most simple way to date the pics is to use a Title scheme - 2009 -04 - 13: John’s Wedding, for instance, will give you the year, month or date to search on, plus John and Wedding.
I would not use keywords for dates.
Is there a way to cluster events together? For example, if my cousin sends me more of grandma's photos, is there a way to associate the new batch with the first set, other than defining an event naming convention?
    Don’t use Events, use Albums.
N o you can’t cluster Events, but you can do pretty much anything you want with Albums and Folders.

  • Sync slows or hangs on large bulk messages from Yahoo

I'm attempting to create a local backup of my Yahoo webmail, using IMAP to Thunderbird.
It seems to have worked, except for one Yahoo folder (out of 30), which had the following characteristics:
    - 11,500 total messages at start
    - about 300 messages that, including attachments, were 2 - 25 Mb in size each.
It appears that the smaller messages have all been synchronized, but those larger than 1.2 Mb have not. Attempting to open one of those larger messages displays the header from the most recent smaller message that was opened, with a blank message text area, i.e. the message cannot be downloaded on demand.
The activity monitor showed, for that (XXX) folder, "Downloading 2 of 300 in XXX". It took 3 weeks to change from '2 of 300' to '3 of 300'.
Other folders have successfully synchronized messages up to 16 Mb in size.
I may have made things worse, or at least more confusing:
After reading that Tb may have performance problems with folders containing a large number of messages, I created, at the Tb end, sub folders for each of the years 2008 - 12 and dragged into them the messages from each of those years. The result is:
    - The 5 new subfolders were created on Tb and at Yahoo.
    - The 5 new subfolders are empty at both places (and their Properties show 0 messages).
    - The 'XXX' folder at Tb no longer contains the messages from 2008 - 12. Its Properties say it now contains 2711 messages. The same folder at Yahoo still contains ail of the original messages, plus a few new ones.
    - The Activity Monitor now shows " "Downloading 4 of 80 in XXX". I interpret this as reflecting the departure of the 2008 - 12 messages from that folder, leaving only 2013 - 14 messages to be dealt with. The '4' has not changed in 3 days.
I have also noticed that new messages added to the 'XXX' folder at Yahoo have not been synced down to Tb, even though they do not contain large attachments. I hypothesize that they are queued up behind the clogged sync mechanism.
So something seems to be seriously clogged up, if not completely hung. Various monitors of network traffic show not much is going on.
Tb is set to download everything, regardless of age or size and not to delete anything (as befits a backup).
I am running Tb on an iMac with OS X 10.8.5. I am reluctant to contact Yahoo for support as this may not meet their definition of a mobile device.
I am using the IMAP account settings recommended by Yahoo:
    imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Port 993
    SSL/TLS
    Normal password authentication
Maximum number of server sessions to cache: 2 (initially 5, reduced to 1, saw no change, increased to 2)
One suggestion I read for dealing with large attachments was to download the attachment, then delete it from the email. Yahoo webmail appears to provide no method for deleting an attachment while preserving the email. If you forward the email to yourself, the attachment can be omitted, but the forwarded email will carry the current date, losing its original date for sorting purposes.
I would appreciate any enlightenment regarding what is actually going on here, along with any suggestions for getting the synchronization to complete in a proper and timely manner.

actually turn off the global index entirely for the moment. Thunderbird menu > preferences > advanced it is just another thing consuming resources at the moment when they may be needed elsewhere.
Do you see the issue appearing after you guess about a megabyte has been downloaded? see http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2010/10/i-cant-sent-mail-networktcpsendbuffer.html

  • RTP for non media format?

    Hi,
I wasn't sure if this is the right forum to ask.. But I guess it's worth a try.
I am looking into streaming a data file over the network using JMF-RTP. I've looked into the page on "Transmitting and Receiving custom RTP Payloads" from:
    http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/CustomPayload.html
Correct me if I'm wrong. According to my understanding, this custom payload has to be one of the supported files for the audio or video from java.media. Is there any way to stream a utf8 data file using rtp?
Thanks for the guidance in advance.

    tjazz wrote:

I am looking into streaming a data file over the network using JMF-RTP. That is a HORRIBLE idea.
Correct me if I'm wrong. According to my understanding, this custom payload has to be one of the supported files for the audio or video from java.media. Is there any way to stream a utf8 data file using rtp?Okay, I want to explain a little bit about what RTP does... RTP breaks a recording (audio or visual) into small, independantly-playable chunks...wraps them in a packet and timestamps them, and sends them out over the network.
On the other side, the receiver gets an independantly-playable chunk of data, and it plays it...but if the timestamps arrive out of order, the packets that arrive out of order get dropped and if they arrive after too long of a delta, the packets get dropped and once a packet is gone, it's gone forever.
In audio/video data, losing a small chunk of the video is acceptable if the goal is to see video in real time, which is the goal of RTP. I don't want to get behind a web cam feed by a few microseconds everytime packets travel different routes on the internet, because before long, I'd be behind 5 minutes...and that's especially useless for something like a video conferencing application.
The two major problems with streaming a data file is, you probably can't do anything with the file until you get all of it anyway, but more importantly, data files cannot handle dropped packets. They just can't. Even if you're just sending a simple UTF8 text file, if you drop a packet, you've lost part of the file...you're dropping words and characters randomly, and RTP not only doesn't have a mechanism for retrieving these peices you dropped, it's designed to drop them.
So, to answer your question...sure, you could totally use RTP to send a data file, but that would be stupid for 99% of applications...

  • Importing timestamp columns appears to use to_date instead of to_timestamp

I'm trying to import data (using the latest version 1.5.4 with Patch 2 applied) to an Oracle 10g database that contains timestamp columns. The input data has times with fractional (millisecond) values The data was exported using SQL Developer from a Sybase database and the timestamp format in the Excel (xls) file is YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS.FF3. When I specify this format for the TIMESTAMP columns on the import screens, the importer generates an insert statement like this:
    INSERT INTO A (TMS) VALUES (to_date('2008-12-049 12:12:39.967', 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS.FF3'));
This command fails to execute with this error:
    Error report:
SQL Error: ORA-01821: date format not recognized
    01821. 00000 - "date format not recognized"
    *Cause:
    *Action:
I found that if to_timestamp is used instead of to_date, there is no issue inserting the row with the correct time precision. The question I have is why isn't SQL Developer using to_timestamp for importing a TIMESTAMP column, and should it?
    Any advise woudl be appreciated.
    Thanks

In 1.5.4 I see a bug where the "Format" field doesn't show up in the page in the import wizard, preventing the user from entering a mask when the column type is TIMESTAMP. This has been fixed in the code line under development and should be available when 2.1 gets released.
To give you a bit more detail on the confusing DATE/TIMESTAMP behaviour...
SQL Developer misrepresenting date as timestamp and vice versa stems from the behaviour of the Oracle JDBC driver. Following are the details I obtained from the JDBC team when I raised a bug("WRONG VALUE RETURNED FOR GETCOLUMNTYPE FOR DATE COLUMN ") on them:-
    oracle.jdbc.mapDateToTimestamp is by default set
to true to indicate reporting DATE column as TIMESTAMP type. To turn off, pass
    -Doracle.jdbc.mapDateToTimestamp=false" at the command line.
To effect this option in SQL Developer, you can add an AddVMOption -Doracle.jdbc.mapDateToTimestamp=false
A bit more history on the option:
8i and older Oracle databases did not support SQL TIMESTAMP, however Oracle
DATE contains a time component, which is an extension to the SQL standard. In
order to correctly handle the time component of Oracle DATE the 8i and
earlier drivers mapped Oracle DATE to java.sql.Timestamp. This preserved the
    time component.
Oracle database 9.0.1 included support for SQL TIMESTAMP. In the process of
implementing support for SQL TIMESTAMP we changed the 9i JDBC driver to map
Oracle DATE to java.sql.Date. This was an incorrect decision since it
truncates the time component of Oracle DATE. There was also a backwards
compatibility problem trying to write java.sql.Timestamps to 8i databases.
These are separate problems but we "fixed" both under the control of a single
flag, V8Compatible. This flag was introduced in a 9.2 patch set.
By default the flag is false. When it is set to false the driver maps Oracle
DATE to java.sql.Date, losing the time component and it writes
java.sql.Timestamps to the database as SQL TIMESTAMPS. When the flag is set
to true the driver maps Oracle DATE to java.sql.Timestamp and writes
java.sql.Timestamps to the database as Oracle DATEs.
In 11.1 the V8Compatible flag was deprecated because it controlled Database
8i compatibility which is no longer supported. The additional behavior it
controlled, how SQL DATEs are handled, is controlled by a new flag,
mapDateToTimestamp. In 11.1 setting V8Compatible will just set
mapDateToTimestamp. This new flag only controls how SQL DATEs are
represented, nothing more. This flag will be supported for the foreseeable
    future.
Finally, the default value for V8Compatible is false in 9i and 10g. This
means that by default the drivers incorrectly map SQL DATEs to java.sql.Date.
In 11.1 the default value of mapDateToTimestamp is true which means that by
default the drivers will correctly map SQL DATEs to java.sql.Timestamp
retaining the time information. Any customer that is currently setting
V8Compatible = true in order to get the DATE to Timestamp mapping will get
that behavior by default in 11.1. Any customer that wants the incorrect but
10g compatible DATE to java.sql.Date mapping can get that by setting
    mapDateToTimestamp = false in 11.1.
About the only way to see the difference between mapDateToTimestamp settings
is to call getObject on a DATE column. If mapDateToTimestamp is true, the
default setting, the result will be a java.sql.Timestamp. If
mapDateToTimestamp is false, then getObject on a DATE column will return a
    java.sql.Date.

  • Conversion between AL32UTF8 and EE8ISO8859P2

    Hi,
we have two databases: one with characterset AL32UTF8 and another one with EE8ISO8859P2. Is it possible to replicate data(online) from one DB to another and vice versa with data conversion but without data losing? Data-replication works through triggers and database links. Unfortunetly, I got wrong characters on both sides. For example instead of 'é'(in the UTF8 DB) I got '??'(in the EE8ISO8859P2 DB.) So I lost data. Could someone help me? Is there any solution or there is no solution at all?
    Thanks,
    Csaba Lenkey

EE8ISO8859P2 supports only central and Eastern European data. Any data going from EE8ISO8859P2 to AL32UTF8 should convert properly if you have set up parameter correctly like NLS_LANG, etc. However data going from AL32UTF8 to EE8ISO8859P2 may not convert properly as there are many code points in AL32UTF8 that do not have corresponding binary values in EE8ISO8859P2.

  • Can't find photos after backup restore

    Hey,
I recently began to use my iPhone 4S after using iPhone 4 for about a year. It's been working fine. I took some photos and sent some messages on the 4S over the past week. When I connected it to iTunes, I chose to restore from backup, as I wanted to transfer all of my contacts over. After around 10 minutes, it restored.#
When I went back on the 4S, I noticed that my message history from the last week was not present (only messages from when I was using the iPhone 4). As well as this, all of my iPhone 4 photos are on the 4S now, and I can't find the photos I took with the 4S over the last week.So essentially, I think I've backed up my 4S to my iPhone 4's data, losing all my 4S data from the past week?!
So my question is, is there anyway I can find these photos and messages? Some of them were quite important too me, so I would really appreciate any advice.

You restored your 4S from your iphone 4 backup.  The only hope you have of retrieving your current data is if you have a back up of your 4S.
If not those data is gone.

  • GParted - Resizing boot partition etc.

    Hi,
This is what my partitions currently look like:
I'm aiming to have my 'Archroot' partition resized to soak up the ~25GB before it and to have my Archhome partition soak up the 26GB after the swap parition.
The first problem I'm having is that when I went to resize/move the Archroot partition into that space the Gparted gave me warning about me possibly losing data/losing the ability to boot since this partition contains my grub stuff.
The second problem is the fact that my Archhome resize would have to involve removing the swap partition and replacing it again at the end of then newly resized Archhome position. Is it okay to do this?
Also note that the Archroot and Archhome partitions have reasonably important work on them and I don't want to lose any of it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Huge.

Gparted always pops up warnings like that before it resizes stuff. Personally, I have never lost anything from resizing, but there is always a chance of that happening. I strongly suggest backing up important directories (like /etc and /home) before you do this, just because everyone should back up stuff. You'll thank me later when your disk drives crash.

Deleting swap and making it again later is totally fine, but you will have to do two things: first, type
    swapoff -a
This will turn off your swap partition to make sure you aren't using it before you delete it. When you are done making the new swap partition, you will need to edit your /etc/fstab for the swap partition's new location ( /dev/sdbn ). Then just type
    swapon -a
and you'll be good to go.

  • No iCloud for XP

This really is not a smart move here
I'm no windows fan but i'm upgrading my wifes iPhone up to ios 5 the problem is her company laptop is XP
She works for a massive american company who have sales teams worldwide
The whole workforce has lapops with XP on every machine
They have just introduced the iPhone 4 in the past year as the company phone ditching blackberries
Not supporting XP here for her company is going to be a disaster here no doubt by now most of them will have updated & now none of them will be able to use the icloud service
Thats just the wifes company how many other companies large or small around the world have rolled out the iPhone as the company phone still use XP
That means for this to work all those companies would have to upgrade to either vista or 7 or even go ovr to Mac
I dont think Apple relise here to do that would cost some companies millions
    This needs sorting quick really

But why bother with Windows 7 ? It's the same xxx as Vista
Its not really vista is a horrible OS 7 is marginally better XP is still miles better than both
I work with all these OS's including Mac, vista is by far the worst i have ever come across that is a personal opinion i'm sure there are people out there who think vista is a good OS
You can have access to your files by signing in to www.icloud.com you just cant sync calendars ETC from outlook which for businesses was a very very handy way of keeping up to date
Losing this feature especially for my wife as she is a manager she used this to keep her & her teams calendars up to date losing this is not going to go down well at all
Shame she was negotiating rolling out iPads for her team but this has just thrown a massive spanner in the works for that one
