Date Periods in Cross Tab rows

Firstly please note that I am still some what of a novice.
I am using Crystal X and appear to be experiencing some inconstancies in how the dates are being grouped when the Period extends over two Financial years (e.g. in Australia it is 07/08). When I add the Date value {@InspectedDate} and then format as per the following:
//DB - Financial Year: ({@InspectedDate})
If Month ({@InspectedDate}) >= 7 and Month ({@InspectedDate}) <= 12
Then Cstr(Year ({@InspectedDate}),0,"") + "/" + Cstr(Year ({@InspectedDate})+1,0,"")
Else If Month ({@InspectedDate}) >= 1 and Month ({@InspectedDate}) <= 6
Then Cstr(Year ({@InspectedDate})-1,0,"") + "/" + Cstr(Year ({@InspectedDate}),0,"")
Else "Error"
I end up with two groupings of 2007/2008 even though some of the dates are in the 2008/2009 period.
Then if I use a String value e.g. {@FinancialYear} I end up with the one period 2008/2009 and the second row (which was set up into quarters) displays the five quarters as part of 2008/2009.

Mr. Guillen,
I faced the same problem but not in date, it was in time ( such as 02:45). The result which is coming in your report is only due to the output is of string type, this type of problem I have solved through creating Views and displaying the field from views instead of table.
Well, you know your DB more and if it is possible then create a view to get the output in your report.

  • Using sub-report field in cross tab row #2

I have a sub-report that pulls a product line description that need to be added to row #2 of a cross tab object. I am unable to drag and dropped and it does not appear in the list under the cross tabs expert.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Edmund,
You cannot add fields from the Subreport to a Crosstab in the Main Report.
If you're trying to add data for multiple rows, you would need to bring those values as part of the Main report's query.

  • Formula for cross tab row

    Post Author: bvandyck
    CA Forum: Formula
The results of a row in a cross tab report need to be split out by percentages and added to the results of other rows.  Each row is an individual, except one row is a combination of individuals.  Certain individuals share in the results of the combination row.   The combination row will be zero after being added to the individuals' rows.  What is the formula for achieving this?

    Hi,
U may create a new formula for that.
There is an option in cross tab expert for new formula.
U may create a formula of your choice and then insert in report.

  • Sorting by date in columns cross tab report.

    Hi all,
I am working on a cross tab report in BI Publisher in which columns are generated dynamically in a pivot table depicting months as Jan 09 , Feb 09.... but data type is char. When displayed in pdf, columns are generated sorted alphabetically.
How can I have them sorted by date in final pdf?
    or
How can I stop the columns being sorted in pivot table at template level?
    Thanks.
    Edited by: user9061488 on Jul 21, 2010 1:13 AM

You need to get a extra column in the query just for sorting purpose, which will have month number in it or YYYYMMDD. format, so that , it can be used in only for sorting.
with JAN 09, FEB 09 , we can do it, but it will be little complex

  • Minimise Cross Tab Row spacing

    Hi,
I have created a Cross Tab table using Crystal Report 2008.
On the rows are list of warehouses eg: Warehouse A, Warehouse B etc.
I know I can minimise / change the font size and the Row label size by right click on the field, Size and Position eg: Warehouse A.
However, is there a way to adjustment  the space between each row?  Ie, the white space between the row box that show Warehouse A, Warehouse B etc.
What I am trying to achieve here is to fit 3 cross tab table into one page, while still keeping font size of the row at Arial 8.
Hope I have explained myself well and thank for your help in advance.

    Hi,
    Thanks for responding.
Is there a way to specify the width of the cell margin instead of totally remove it?

  • Customized Sort for Cross-Tab Row

I have a simple Cross-Tab on my report that needs to be sorted in a static Row order.
My cross tab has 1 Row (Name) and 1 column (Total Sales).
Currently the CrossTab sorts the Name Alphabetically (ASC). But I need to specify a specific order.  I have added a numeric field to my table and I assign a numeric value to the last names so that I might be able to sort the Name Row based on my "CustomSortOrder" numeric field.
Currently it looks something like this:
    A
    B
    C
    D
    E
I want it to be: (numeric value behind the scenes)
    C (1)
    D (2)
    E (3)
    A (4)
    B (5)
    ALL OTHERS (9999)
I cant seem to figure out where I need to set this.  I have tried adding a group to the report. I have tried setting the Report Sort order.  I am out of ideas.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Jimmy,
Here's what you need to do :
    1) Go to the Crosstab Expert > Remove the existing 'name' field from the 'Row'
    3) Add the numeric field as the 'Row'
    4) Select the Row > Group Options > Options Tab > Customize Group Name Field > Use formula as a Group Name > Click the formula button beside and use this code:
    If {numeric_field} = 9999 then "All Others"
    else
    {Name_Field}

  • Data missing in cross tab

    Hi,
Using Business Objects 6.5 Deski I have created a report which has crosstab. The measure inside the crosstab is of decimal type. Along side the crosstab I have the totals for each row(suming it up). When I export this report to infoview and run the report some of the measure data is missing. Strange thing is the totals in each row show the correct values though I don't see any data for that row.
Did anyone of you encountered this issue?
    Thanks in Advance!
(P.S: For testing purpose I am just populating 3 rows but still the data is missing in crosstab)

    Hi,
Infoview format of the measure objects having numerics. so the result of the report is showing  wrong results. I can not sure if this is the case though.
Sometimes when defining measure for deski reports we can create an object in the universe and mark it as a measure with the calculation as sum. the select panel will have just the column name. but if this same object is used in webi that sum doesnt not apply.
so u might have to go back to the universe and in the deinition of that measure in the select panel u need to expicitly specify SUM(column) that way the column is summed up based on the dimensions in the webi report.
Let me know if this is the case and if this helps in any way.
    All the Best,
    Madhu...

  • Data Format in Cross Tab and Parameter window about numeric and date

    Hello,
    I got a problem to show Year 2008 as 2,008.00, it's rediculous...
My PC and Notebook both show "2008",  but my three co-workers' PCs all show "2,008.00"
the group field is:      CStr(Year({SJ_Inv;1.TaxDate}))+ '  Sales Analysis'
How to convert such a numeric into text without decimal?  CStr looks not workable.
    also,
the numeric var in parameter window, sometimes I don't want it to show up comma and decimal, how to format it?
And, the datetime var in parameter window from store procedure,  can it be a "Date" without Time for user to entry only?
I will be very appreciate for your helping.
    ~Michelle

    Hi, Raghavendra,
The reason to use stored procedure is to save server room -- limited data for output; this is why we declare variable in Store procedure, and got problem there -- datetime but not date.
On the other hand, if we declare variable in Crystal report, it's allowed date type, but how to defaut the Date-from as 1st day of current month, and Date-to as Today in Crystal Report parameter setup ??  And then how to pass the parameter to store procedure to limit the data output volume?
(I am also trying to get this done in Store procedure right now..)
The pros and cons exist in Store procedure and Crystal report, which is better is not definite!
    Best regards,

  • How do I suppress Cross Tab row subtotals?

Hi. I've created a specified order group, which forces my rows to subtotal at each line. Thus, Income now has specified account numbers that subtotal on each number, then on the group Income. How do suppress the account row subtotals? I'm using CR 2008.

  • Cross Tab keeps suppressing rows with no data

I have a Crystal Report that is using a Cross Tab.  I have 2 rows in the cross tab the first row is the Month name and the second row is the Day Number of the month, and the report will print the Month Name on the left followed by all the Calendar Day Numbers in the month.
The problem is that when there is no data for a Day Number row the entire row is not shown.  So you might have day number 1, 2, 3 and then jumps to maybe 6.  I found that the ones the cross tab was not showing did not contain any data.  I just need the calendar day number to at least print so the days read sequentially instead of jumping to 6 or another number.
Is there any way to show the rows even if they don't contain any data?
I have right clicked and gone into the Cross Tab expert and there isn't anything checked to suppress rows.  I don't understand why its still suppressing rows!
Is there a global report option that I missed that says "suppress rows when there are no records"?
    Thank you all in advance,
I am using Crystal Reports XIR2 with Service Pack 4

I am still not getting all rows to show up on the report.   The rows that are not showing up contain no data in the cross tab but the row still needs to show.
The only reason I got it to work before was because I selected all values for the columns parameter so it brought back everything in the database that was why it was able to show all values.
I have two tables one is a date database and contains all the dates till 2012.  The other is the product data which contains the product code and qty that the cross tab summarizes.
I have done a left outer join from the product data to the date database, and I am still not able to get all the dates to list for the selected time range.
I was able to get the dates to show up when I right clicked the link and modified the link properties.  I chose Left Outer Join and then under Link Type I selected ">" in the database expert dialog.  This brought back all the dates but the data in the report was all the same.  Probably just the first record repeated all down the page.
Any ideas how to fix this problem?

  • Detail-Data in Cross-Tab

    Hi,
i would like to add additonal data to the row-label in a cross-tab.
    ....................... C1    C2    C3
    Customer1
    .... add.Data1
    Customer2
    .... add.Data2
    Customer3
    .... add.Data3
    How can i do that?
The link between the Customer-Table and the Extra-Data is the customer-id and a Date-Field (parameter of the report - used for filtering on a date-basis).
    Table for extra data:
    customer-id     date     amount
DATE is a parameter of the report.
Is there any way to do this?
    (I use CR XI).
    Result should look like this:
    Selected Date (Parameter): 2009-02-02
    ...................................................... C1    C2    C3
    Customer1 +
    ....amount on 2009-02-02 for C1
    Customer2 +
    ....amount on 2009-02-02 for C2
    Customer3 +
    ....amount on 2009-02-02 for C3
    THX in advance,
    Markus

    Hi,
    Lets phrase it differently again
i have a second table from which i would like to add additional information to the row-information in a cross-tab.
    customer.... date ... amount
    Cust1....2009-02-01....   10
    Cust1....2009-03-01....   15
    Cust1....2009-04-01....   77
    Cust2 ........
    Cust3 ........
I need ONLY the first amount from the starting-date in the CROSS-Tab.
The starting-date is a parameter in the report.
If i put there the linked amount-field i get a row for each different date.
I need only one row per customer with the first amount from date 1. (the parameter-date-value)
So if i enter 2009-03-01 as the parameter, i would like a cross tab with a row-name of:
    "Customer1 + ChrW(13) + 15 "
It works with a SQL-Expression (named "StartSaldo") like:
    (Select Saldo from Goldbeck_Saldo where D_Date = '20090301'
    and "Goldbeck_Saldo"."I_PERSID"="BaseTable"."I_PERSID")
    and a row name of "Customer.Name + ToText({%StartSaldoSQL})
However the Date "20090201" is hard-coded there.
I can find no way to make the Date from the SQL-Expression soft-coded (pass the parameter to the scalar SQL-Expression). According to another forum-post this is not possible.

    Hi
Under "chart expert" in "data" tab where you add the fields in chart you see "on change of" and "show" values..
After adding the required on "change of fields" if you would highlight that field "group option"  tab will get enabled where you will find the "sort order" drop down. There is an option "In Original Order" which will sort the fields as fetched from Database
Same option is available in Cross-Tab
