Date vs. Day of the week

Maybe I am dense, but I can't figure out a way to set my calendar for a meeting the first MONDAY of each month without doing it manually 12 times. Suggestions?
Thanks!

When you add an event you can choose the repeat event tab where you can choose a selection. You'll have better options if you use your desktop ical to make a repeat event.

• Cannot turn on "Show the day of the week" option in Date & Time

OS X Lion turns "Show the day of the week" option off each time I open that preference pane and after every reboot. My region in Formats tab of Language & Text preference pane is set to "Russia (Russian)". I've noticed that the problem doesn't appear when region is set to US (I didn't try others). Is there any known workaround, except changing my region preference?

Me too.
And I have a workaround, until Фззду fixes it finally:
1) Go to the ~/Library/Preferences, locate a file named com.apple.menuextra.clock.plist, open it with Plist editor (comes with XCode) or just with TextEdit.
2) There's DateFormat key in it, change it to "EEE H:mm", save the file.
3) Now Cmd-I (right click - Get info) on that file in Finder, and check option named "Locked" ("Защита").
System Preferences' Date & Time pane sets the aforementioned DateFormat to "ccc H:mm" when you tick the "Show the day of the week" option, while in Russian locale. And in English it becomes "EEE H:mm". The problem is that Sys.pref and even SystemUIServer (that shows the menu) processes somehow do not like the former value and erase it. After every relaunch of SystemUIServer (after reboot or being killed) tries to change "EEE" to "ccc" again (which would be cleared to nothing next time), that is why you have to lock the plist file.

• From where to get "First day of the week" data for all the locales, is it present in CLDR spec 24?

I am trying to get "First day of the week" data from CLDR spec24 but cannot find where to look for it in the spec. I need this data to calculate numeric value of "LOCAL day of the week".
This data to implement "c" and "cc" day formats that equals numeric local day of the week.
e.g if "First day of the week" data for a locale is 2 (Monday) , it means numeric value for local day of the week will be 1 if it is Monday that day, 2 if it is Tuesday that day and likewise.

Hi
If you want to week to be started with Sunday then use the following formula:
TimestampAdd(SQL_TSI_DAY, 1-DAYOFWEEK(Date'@{var_Date}'), Date'@{var_Date}') if it's retail week(starts from Monday) then the follow below:
TimestampAdd(SQL_TSI_DAY, 1-DAYOFWEEK(Date'@{var_Date}'), Date'@{var_Date}')
I'm assuming var_Date is the presentation variable for prompt...

• Payment terms - due date on a particular day of the week say friday?

Experts is it possible in SAP payment terms to configure a term such that due date is on a particular day of the week?
I want use payment term to determine due date for weekly billing cycle (sunday to saturday) for the invoice to be due on Friday net 27 days from mid point of the week
eg 1. if a customer is invoiced any day between October 4th to 10th, the due date should be Friday Nov 6th
eg 2. if a customer is invoiced and day between October 11th to 17th, the due date should be Friday Nov 13th
Is this possible?
Thanks in Advance

You need custom development for this. Using custom development, Substitution in FI or User exit in SD
I. FI Substitution -
Create substitution with exit, for field day1 (BSEG-ZBD1T) and baseline date (BSEG-ZFBDT). In exit, determine number of days for required Friday from baseline date you want to use (say document date). This way, due date will be on Friday.
For determining Friday, use calendar or Ztables.
II. Invoices created in SD - If you are gerenating invoices in SD, use exit EXIT_SAPLV60B_008. This exit has table ACCIT which also has same fields Day1 and Baseline date. Follow same logic mentioned above.
I hope this helps.

• Figure out dates corresponding to days of the week, constructing a schedule

Hi everyone,
I'm sorry if this topic has already been covered. I've searched the forums for an answer, but did not see anything I took to be an answer (I'm not very good at this).
I'm trying to make a simple table to tell me which dates a particular day of the week falls on. For instance, I'm making a syllabus for a class that meets every Tuesday and Thursday. I want to know which dates corresponds to every Tuesday and Thursday from here on out.
I currently have a table with two columns. The first column is the day of the week. The first row is Tuesday, the second is Thursday, the third Tuesday, etc. I was able to do this easily with auto fill. I want the next column to be the date.
Here's a picture of what I mean:
Is there a formula that will let me do this?
Thanks!

Hi Macademic,
How about putting both into the first column?
Select all of column A and use the Cell Format inspector to set the format as Date and Time, with the Date: and Time: pop-up menus set to:
Date: Mon, Jan 5, 2009
or: Monday, January 5, 2009
or to a Custom format, Date and Time, including only the elements you want in the format you want them.
Time: None
Enter the starting date into A2, and confirm that it is either a Tuesday or a Thursday.
In A3, enter
=A2+2 (if the course starts on a Tuesday)
or
=A2+5 (if the course starts on a Thursday)
In A4, enter
=A2+7
Select A3 and A4, then grab the control (small circle at the lower right corner of the selection) and drag down until you reach the last date of the course.

• Position of the days and dates being on the right side of the day in the week calendar.

I'm having a huge problem with the days and dates being on the right side of the day in the week calendar. Can I change that to the left upper side?

Thanks for stating that. So quickly. That *****. I also now see that more people have problems with this. Where can I complain?

• In SQL server, how can I pass a date and return on any specific day of the week (e.g. Sunday/Monday/Wednesday, etc.)

In SQL server, I want to be able to have a function to return the date of any specific day of the week by passing two parameters. E.g.:
parameter 1: a selected date (e.g. 8/3/2013)
parameter 2: any specific day of the week (e.g. Wednesday)
result: should be 7/31/2013 (8/3/2013 is a Sunday in the week 7/28 - 8/3, so the Wednesday should be 7/31/2013)
then if I want to get Saturday of that week, I can simply change the second parameter to 'Saturday'

• Two or more productid will be accquired by same customerid, by same shipvia, on the same day of the week of shipped date. i want the simple query for this.

consider this situation,
Two or more productid will be accquired by same customerid, by same shipvia, on the same day of the week of shipped date. i want the simple query for this.
my tables are from northwind:

Hi,
I think I have a solution that will at least give you a clue how to go about it. I have simplified the tables you mentioned and created them as temporary tables on my side, with some fake data to test with. I have incldued the generation of these temporary
tables for your review.
In my example I have included:
1. A customer which has purchased the same product on the same day, using the same ship 3 times,
2. Another example the same as the first but the third purchase was on a different day
3. Another example the same as the first but the third purchase was a different product
4. Another example the same as the first but the third purchase was using a different "ShipVia".
You should be able to see that by grouping on all of the columns that you wich to return, you should not need to perform any subselects.
Please let me know if I have missed any requirements.
Hope this helps:

select to_char(to_date(:mydate,'DD/MM/YYYY'),'FMDAY') from dual

• Day of the week incorrect in date/time formatting

This should be a simple fix but I can't seem to find the solution.
I'm wanting to format my dates using the cell formatting options in the Cells Inspector. Everything is fine except that it's showing the wrong day of the week.
For example, today is Friday, July 15th, 2011. When I enter 2011-07-15 into the cell, it formats it as Wednesday, July 15, 2011. My time, date and location settings are correct in System Prefs.
Anyone know where I can fix this? Thanks

Never mind, I figured it out. I really wish you could delete discussions.

• DATE FOR FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK

I am new to Oracle and am looking for a procedure that will calculate the first day of the week given today's date.
Given 1/23/2000 I need to find Sunday 1/21/2000.

Hi there,
I don't think there's a built-in Oracle procedure for what you want. However...
In SQL (at least, Oracle's SQL), you have the function TO_CHAR and TO_DATE that allow you to convert a date to a string and vice-versa. They work pretty much in a similar way, that is :
TO_<something>( <data_to_convert>, <format> )
eg.: To have the day of the week for the current date, you can do
SELECT TO_CHAR( SYSDATE, 'D' ) FROM DUAL;
Wednesday, January 24th, 2001 would then return 4.
To have the day of the year, you would do
TO_CHAR( SYSDATE, 'DDD' )
Then, to have the day of the year of the first day of the week, you then could subtract the day of the week of your date from the day of the year of your date, and then add one. To be able to do math stuff of char value, you must use TO_NUMBER.
In one ugly line, you could do this by doing the following :
select to_date( (to_char(sysdate,'YYYY') | | to_char( to_number( to_char(sysdate,'DDD')) - to_number( to_char(sysdate,'D')) + 1)),'YYYYDDD') from dual;
Eurk.
Or you could write a function that would return the date of the first day of the week of a specific date, like :
create or replace
FUNCTION FDOW (P_DATE DATE) RETURN DATE
IS
R_FDOW DATE;
BEGIN
R_FDOW := to_date( (to_char(P_DATE,'YYYY') | | to_char( to_number( to_char(P_DATE,'DDD')) - to_number( to_char(P_DATE,'D')) + 1)),'YYYYDDD');
return R_FDOW;
END;
(FDOW : First Day Of Week - not really original, I know)
Then, you can call it wherever you want:
SELECT FDOW(SYSDATE) FROM DUAL;
Have fun!

• Issue with Gregorian Calendar and setting Day of the week

Hi
This may have a simple solution, but its currently got me stumped. Basically, after some calculation I determine the date that a particular event should occur on. These events are listed in a JTable where the column headers are the dates of the beginning of the weeks. In order to place my calculated event in the correct column I create a Gregorian Calendar, set it to the date of the event and then set the day of the week to the beginning of the week. Normally this works fine but for a few instances, rather than getting the date at the beginning of the week, I get the date thats the beginning of the next week.
As a quick example, to kind of illustrate my problem:
I determine that the date of the event is 27/06/2006 which is a Tuesday.
I want this event to appear in the column headed 25/06/2006, the date of the beginning of the week.
In fact it appears in the column headed the 02/07/2006 which is the beginning date of the following week.
Is there anyway to get it so when I set the day to the first day of the week it goes to the beginning of the current week rather than the beginning of the next week?
Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved as I'm currently struggling to think of any.
Thanks

Hi, I dont say Monday is the begining of the week. At least I dont think I do.
As for code I'll post the conversion bit which is:
for (int i = 0; i < areaNameSelectionTable.getRowCount(); i++) {
GregorianCalendar conversionCalendar = new GregorianCalendar();
conversionCalendar.setTime((java.util.Date) prioritiesTable.getValueAt(i, 10));
conversionCalendar.set(GregorianCalendar.DAY_OF_WEEK, GregorianCalendar.SUNDAY);
}//end for loopI then create a string from the GregorianCalendar in the format DD/MM/YYYY and compare that with the headers of my table columns (Also dates in the format DD/MM/YYYY) When they match thats the column this particular event should appear in. I can post this code if necessary, but I dont know if its relevant.
Thanks

• Report Request - Tickets by day of the week

So there are plenty of reports that show data based on past X days, but as far as I can see, none break it up into by days of the week.
Example, For the last month, how many tickets were closed on Monday, Tuesday, by what Tech, in which Category/Location/Custom attribute.
Could someone better than I make this happen?

I am not sure about your help. Text variable is part of the header of a column and how is it possible to use the text variable as part of the result area. I want the day to be part of the line item in the report.
