Deleting "#" symbols in report lines

Hello,
We have financial reports in BEx which use field "Name" composed from 3 fields "Name1" "Name2" "Name3" (because restrictions of lenght of the field), in reports we compile one field "Name" using Visual basic. We are moving from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0, and faced such problem, when one of the fields is empty (for example company name is short), its filled automaticaly by symbol "#", and therefore in report we have "ABC###" instant of "ABC".
Now, we have only one decision - delete "#" symbols using Visual Basic. Does somebody faced this problem?

SYM_1 SYM_TEXT1 '='. " here the symbols displayed will not be printing but a different
"symbol according to ascii code will print, so u have to do hit and trial by pressing ALT + <any number> like 125 etc. try with each and every number u'll get the symbol at one of the number.
WRITE: SYM_TEXT1 AS SYMBOL.

NOTE: what u see is not what u get so u need to try each number and then execute to see what it is printing
