Deny "show run"

I use ACS ver 4.2, and set up the following configuration on the routers.
aaa new-model
aaa authentication login default group tacacs+ local
aaa authentication login no_auth local enable
aaa authorization config-commands
aaa authorization commands 1 default group tacacs + local
aaa authorization commands 15 default group tacacs + local
aaa accounting exec default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting commands 0 default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting commands 15 default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting system default start-stop group tacacs+
Everything works perfect, but I am trying to deny the 'show run' command using ACS command authorization sets. ( See attahment). All other commands are working, but no matter what I do the show run is un-sucessful. In the group, Max privilege for any AAA client set to 'Level 1'. and Shell (exec) is set to 'Privilege level 1 '. Any ideas?

I have tried this in a v4.1 ACS and can deny the show run and show clock commands but allow all the other show commands:
The AAA config on the test device (Version 12.2.18 EW2 IOS) is:
aaa new-model
aaa authentication login default group tacacs+ local
aaa authentication login no_tacacs local
aaa authorization config-commands
aaa authorization exec default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
aaa authorization commands 1 default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
aaa authorization commands 15 default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
aaa authorization network default group tacacs+
aaa accounting exec default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting commands 1 default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting commands 15 default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting network default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting connection default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting system default start-stop group tacacs+
Here is the output:
TESTSWITCH01#show clock
Command authorization failed.
TESTSWITCH01#show run
Command authorization failed.
TESTSWITCH01#show calendar

• SP3 Almost completes installation but freezes at the Finishing stage showing "Running processes after install"

I have an HP Pavilion zd7000 laptop with Windows XP & SP2 update installed. Processor is Intel Pentium 4. My system is clean with no rubbish software running. I have several anti-malware & anti-spyware systems installed but they are dormant & not running during the attempted installation. SP3 almost completes installation but freezes at "Finishing" stage showing "Running processes after install". Anti-virus is of course switched off. The system then hangs fore-ever with hard disc activity showing intermittently but nothing else happening. Luckily, by holding down the laptop on/off switch I can always eventually restore to previous settings & recover full use but without SP3! This is annoying & frustrating. I have seen a lot of threads about this problem but no real answers. Can anyone help please?

What is Shmrate.exe is not running?
This can be read two different ways
One well if you look at it like this
User>shmgrate>Operating system>drivers>computer. Result is denied!
If you have something like this
User > User Account Control >Operating system>drivers>computer. Result is denied again!
Note that an adminstrator is only a adminstrator and Computer Adminstrator can install Sp(s). Which I believe is tyour question. Which is my guess.
Which is the reason some people reccommend installing from the "Adminstrator" account Which generally is not a User account. Yes some people add and modify there account access by using Subinacl.exe and reset.cmd, which bumps the account from adminstrator to Computer Adminstrator. An alternative is to boot into safe mode. Pressing the *F8* key before the windows welcome screen starts up. And selecting safe mode. Which is why more people report success with using the .ISO install.
To add to your confusion. Windows Sp2 usually has windows installer 3.0, or windows installer 3.1
Table us types of accounts. I wish windows 200 documentation had made it completely into Xps documentation. They had an excellent table with tthe types of accounts
Limited user. Not able to run more then basic programs. Not able to ;install device drivers, not able to install progras, not able to install Sp(s)s
Power user Able to run more advanced programs. IE Defragger.
adminstrator. Mess with the operating system, back up things, able to install programs, add users. When Windows Xp is installed this is the type of user associated with adminstrator. NOT CA
Computer adminstrator. Able to Install of all things Sp(s).
Hopefully this helps you out. Of course there is the release notes, Xp solution center and of course things to do before installing Sp3.

• Router Crashes after entering "show run" or similar commands

Hello,
Im having a problem with my Company router C3845-ADVSECURITYK9-M, software Version 15.1(4)M. After i issue "show run" it tends to crash in middle of output, router restarts itself to be precise....same thing happened when i tried "show stack" afterwards, it happened several times when trying to show running config, so im guessing it has some problem when trying to display large outputs...i have never heard of such thing though so im asking for advice,

• Create user just use for show running-config

Dear Cisco support team,
I want to create a user account on ASA 5520, which just has one function: show running-config.
How to modify privilege, and set this privilege just excute this command: show running-config.
Can you help me ?
Thank you.
Dang Nguyen,
Viettel Cambodia Company.

If the chassis is loaded with line cards, why then CPU utilization for five seconds: 11%/1%; one minute: 9%; five minutes: 9%?
The configuration of each line cards are stored in each line cards. There maybe a 40 Gbps backplane line but some commands have "low priority" communicating between the different line cards and up to the supervisor card.
You'll see similar sort of behaviour too when you stack seven to nine 3750/G/E/X switches together.

The vlan info isn't missing, you have the option of either specifying which VLAN you want it dropped in to, or you can just say authorize the vlan that is configured with the 'switchport access vlan' command.

• DTW 2007B PL:7 - DTW always showing run time error on record key no. 1377

Hi,
I've encountered a strange problem while transferring Customer Master.
Firstly, the DTW throws error randomly asking for 'Ship To' Address along with given 'Bill To' Address.
Also, at Record Key No. 1377, DTW shows run time error & asks for debugging.
Once the debugging is started, it goes on & on with any probable end of debugging.
And if the debugging option is not chosen DTW crashes & the corresponding error file is blank.
If anyone had encountered similar problem, pls respond ASAP.
Thanks,
Prashant

Hi Kapil,
did you use a template for importing the BPMaster and BPAddress data ? Such error normally causes by wrong LineNum and wrong signs for type of addresses.
Please reffer to SAP note 899093 and 979116. This would be helpful.

• Disable logging of "show running-config" on MDS 9124

After our MDS 9124 was upgraded from 3.1 to 4.2, it now logs in the config whenever a "show running-config" is done. This has somewhat become an issue because we use Cat Tools to backup our configs so when it logs in, it does a "show running-config" which then triggers the config to be updated which Cat Tools sees as a change and backs up the config everyday because of this. Very annoying.
Anyway to disable this? Here is what the lines look like in the config:
!Command: show running-config
!Time: Mon Jan 4 07:04:03 2010

I was not able to find a way to disable and I couldn't find anything in CatTools (our version is a couple years old) to exclude checking certain lines. So for now the configs get backed up everyday. I'll probably update CatTools and contact Solarwinds to see if there is a way to customize the backup script.

FF shows on the task bar shows running on task manager but I can not maximize it.

Can you try starting Firefox in Safe Mode. To do that, hold down SHIFT while you click the desktop shortcut or quick launch icon. Then click the '''Continue without making changes''' button.
If it works in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

I believe that the answer is that in implementing privilege levels Cisco designed the show run command so that if you do not have capability to change something that it will not show up in the show run. I believe the logic is that from a security standpoint if you are not authorized to change it you should not be able to see it in the config. So in your case if user1 is not able to change anything then they will not be able to see anything in show run.

I have one production server which is SQL server 2012 Enterprise. I found something really strange.
1. For server jobs, once a while the job history showing running twice.
2. One of the job run duration is positive which is correct. Another job run duration is negative which is not correct obviously. Does someone see this problem before? What is the root course for this? What is the approach to troubleshoot this problem?
Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

• PIX - Can't Perform Show Run

I have a PIX running V7.11 which has been up for 17 days with a failover partner. When I try to do a show run, I get this error:
ERROR: Command Ignored, Configuration in progress...
This makes it seem like it is sync'ing with the other PIX? Only it has been doing this for a few days now. Traffic is still passing but why is this happening?
Any ideas?

Dave,
Looks like Bug ID CSCsc06477.

Please do look up the bug in bug toolkit and try the workaround.

• Netconf equivalent for "show running-config" in IOS XR

Hello,
I have an ASR9K router, on which I want to get full running configurration in XML format.
To start netconf prompt, I go with
netconf echo format
And then I send the following request:
<rpc message-id="106" xmlns="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:netconf:base:1.0"> <get-config> <running/> <filter> <Configuration/> </filter> </get-config></rpc>
In the output, it is seen that it is trimmed after start of ISIS configuration. In addition, there is an error message:
<error-message xml:lang="en"> 'XMLMDA' detected the 'warning' condition 'An XML request provided too little or too much values for a class' </error-message> <error-info> <Configuration ErrorCode="0x4368a200" ErrorMsg="'XMLMDA' detected the 'warning' condition 'An XML request provided too little or too much values for a class'">
Is there a way to get the whole content of the configuration (preferable, in one message), like it is done in IOS with "no netconf max-message"?
-Alex.

Hi Peter,
'show run vrf xxxx' will just give the configuration under 'vrf xxxx', one creative way to get what you are looking for is to use 'show run formal | i vrf xxxx'.
There are some other ways, but this is the easiest.

• WEP encryption after AP reload and no show run output

Hello,we have an interesting incident.
We have added a second VLAN and SSID into the AP configuration. The first SSID is configured by WEP. After the configuration was finished there are any clients associated to the access point but not all clients are able to transfer packets to the wired network. Some clients are able to work and some clients are not able to work. When we perform a reload of the access point all clients are able to send and receive data packets again.
Another issue is when we do a "show run" there is no output in CLI. We had access to the AP via telnet. After the reboot this issue is solved, too.
I think it looks like a memory problem.
Is there anybody who had the same problem?
Thanks
Martin
