Deployment on different machine

Hi,
i've developed a small app with 2 session beans and a gui-client which uses some gif's for the buttons etc. and the Borland jbcl for some layouts.
On the machine where i developed the app (Win NT 4, SP6), i could deploy and run the app and anything is fine. But when i try to deploy the app on another machine (Win 2K with identical installation of JBuilder and JDK's including directories and paths) and run, the gui-client can't find any of the graphics and jbcl-components. Both machines are identically configured except the OS, both machines using JSDK 1.3.1 and J2EE 1.3.01.
Where is my failure?
thx,
A.T.

I've the same problem. Look at this message (no response since now but how know...) :

    Yes you can. Make sure that domains configured to use different multicast address. WLS uses multicast for communications between nodes in domain.
              although your configuration will work, you could have troubles if you going to execute inter-domain calls between domains/servers with the same names.

  • Deployment Tool, Different Config Files, Same Results

    I should mention that I'm generating App-V 5 packages for Office 2013. Maybe this question belongs in the App-V forums.
    I can't seem to create a configuration file for the Office Deployment Tool that does what I want. This configuration:
    <Configuration>
    <Add SourcePath="D:\Something\Something\Source\Full Suite" OfficeClientEdition="32">
    <Product ID="ProPlusVolume">
    <Language ID="en-us" />
    </Product>
    <Product ID="VisioProVolume">
    <Language ID="en-us" />
    </Product>
    <Product ID="ProjectProVolume">
    <Language ID="en-us" />
    </Product>
    </Add>
    </Configuration>
    generates an App-V package with the "basic" Office apps (Word, Excel, etc.), along with Visio and Project. That part is fine.
    If I remove the Product elements for Project and Visio, I expect that a "basic" Office package will be created. However, Visio and Project are still in the package, and they are indeed usable. We have limited licenses for Project and Visio, so
    I would like them not to be deployed to every machine.
    I have tried giving the two configuration files their own source folders, that is, running the download command once for each configuration file and telling it to download to two different folders... same results.
    This is similar to John Marcum's follow-up question at
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/c9462446-7744-4e3e-8c25-dbcd185a17e4/creating-lync-and-onenote-appv-packages?forum=officesetupdeploy

    Kazzan's reply technically does work, and it is a viable option. However, that reply led me to wonder what the Office Deployment Tool (ODT) is doing to a machine that makes generating different packages difficult or impossible.
    I found that the ODT leaves files behind in the current user's Temp directory, after the package generation is finished. At least one of these folders (named Microsoft Office 15) contains the file system contents of the App-V package. So, I decided
    to clear the Temp directory in between runs of the Office Deployment Tool. Simply clearing this directory was not enough to solve the problem, but I'm still doing it as part of the build process.
    Running Process Monitor showed me activity in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun. Deleting this entire key does not appear to be necessary, and I'm not sure what that would do if you actually used Office Click-To-Run on the same machine on which
    you're running ODT.  So, I deleted just these keys:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\Configuration
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\ProductReleaseIDs
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\Scenario\APPVPACKAGE
    Deleting those keys, along with the Temp directory cleanup, is sufficient to let me build multiple Office 2013 App-V 5 packages on the same computer.

  • Force run apps don't deploy on some machines causing zen icons toflash at intervals

    I'm having a problem lately, with new apps that I'm creating (for
    example Acrobat Reader 9.4) not deploying on some machines. I have them
    set to force run, user associated. They appear in application explorer,
    and if I manually launch them, they will install just fine. I have
    conditions for availability based on version, so if the app has been
    installed, it will no longer show in application explorer.
    I had this happen a few months ago, and I thought it was one particular
    app I had just sent out, so I just manually ran it on the affected
    workstations, but now I'm seeing the same workstations having the issue.
    The workstations are running the last released ZDM 7 agent, and the
    Servers are Netware 6.5 SP8 patched up to the last released Zen 7
    version. (I removed the existing agent and reinstalled the latest agent
    HP4, msi dated 5/14/2010)
    I've deleted nalcache, and that had no effect. Naldiag shows the apps
    are there and passed the tests, but I think that there is actually a
    problem with another app that had been previously created that is
    preventing these from working.
    I'm just looking for some areas to check to figure this out. I'm not
    seeing any errors, it just doesn't launch the force run apps. The vast
    majority of the machines run them absolutely fine.
    -------------- Update ---------------
    I was waiting to post this to check one more thing, and I had to reboot
    the machine. The user had gone home for the day so I logged in as a
    different user and now the apps are deploying, so this appears to be
    something perhaps in the registry for that user? I was afraid this
    would happen.. I'll have to find another broken machine to do further
    testing on.
    Any ideas how to track this down? The apps that were "stuck" are new
    applications, they aren't modified old applications where I would be
    worried about the guid being changed or anything weird.
    I'm guessing the moment I create another force run app to update
    something that I am going to see the exact same problem recur.

    There's nothing of interest in the logs that I can find. As for taking
    things away, I thought about that as well, however when I set up a brand
    new machine and install zen, all of the applications force run just fine
    and install... Very odd. What makes the workstations stop blinking is
    for me to remove the force run on the new apps, or manually run them.
    I guess I could take away force run on all the other stuff that's
    already installed, that would be rather strange for one of those to be
    the culprit.

  • Why differences in the way different machines handle the same code??

    OK, I've posted some other threads re some difficulties in getting the same code to function identically on, not only different platforms, but even on different machines running Windows!
    Here's another, and I would really appreciate an explanation:
    I have a tree control. Per the user's request, I made the right button function the same way it does on MS File Explorer: When they right click, the currently selected nodes are compared to the node they clicked over. If they clicked over a selected node, then the context menu for the nodes selected is displayed. If they clicked over a different node, then the selection is changed to the new node and the context menu displayed. If they right click over the tree control, but not a node in the tree, then the selection is cleared and no context menu is displayed.
    Works great on my machine.
    However, on some machines, no context menu is displayed, nor is the node selected... UNLESS THEY ALREADY HAVE A NODE SELECTED. I.e., if they have no nodes in the tree selected, they cannot display the context menu by right clicking on a node, nor does the selection change to the node they right click over. It only works if they already have something selected.
    My app is distributed as an executable jar file and I am distributing the JRE with it, so there are no class path issues or differences in the JDK. Basically, my problem can be paraphrased as: Why doesnt' Swing behave the same way on different machines...? At least why not the same on the eame machine.
    It's driving me nuts to think that I've resolved some UI glitch only to find out that, no, it's only fixed on some machines, not others.
    Thanks.

    Well, I normally develop on OSX and then deploy to Windows. But, this last build I have switched to Windows XP. The kinds of differences I am seeing are subtle: what triggers a repaint of the UI and now, it seems, what events are getting triggered by mouse clicks.
    My deployment is an executable jar file, therefore it uses the manifest in the jar, not any classpath variables. I deploy an entire JRE along with the app, and the bat file that launches the app ensures that is the JAVA_HOME I'm using.
    I can only guess that it's some underlying difference in versions of the platform and OS that causes this.
    Here's the entire code for this latest issue re the popups:
            private void maybeShowPopup(NodeInfoTree tree, MouseEvent e) {
                if (e.isPopupTrigger()) {
                    //  They clicked the platform dependent popup trigger...
                    int x = e.getX();
                    int y = e.getY();
                    TreePath[] selectedPaths = tree.getSelectionPaths();
                    if (selectedPaths == null) {
                        selectedPaths = new TreePath[0];
                    TreePath clickedPath = tree.getPathForLocation(x,y);
                    if (clickedPath == null) {
                        //  they right clicked, but not on a node, so clear the selection and return
                        tree.clearSelection();
                        return;
                    } else {
                        // They clicked on a path, so let's see if it is a selected
                        // node.  Search the selected array of paths, short circuiting
                        // out if it is found...
                        boolean foundInSelection = false;
                        for (int i=0; (!foundInSelection && (i < selectedPaths.length)); i++) {
                            foundInSelection = clickedPath.equals(selectedPaths);
    if (!foundInSelection) {
    // They right clicked elsewhere than the selection, so
    // reset the selection to the new path...
    tree.setSelectionPath(clickedPath);
    final TreePath menuPath;
    selectedPaths = tree.getSelectionPaths();
    if (selectedPaths == null) {
    return;
    } else {
    menuPath = selectedPaths[selectedPaths.length-1];
    // Since they did click on a node, now we need to determine
    // what popup menu should be displayed...
    tree.scrollPathToVisible(menuPath);
    NodeInfo ni = (NodeInfo) menuPath.getLastPathComponent();
    // If the last path component is null, then they don't have
    // anything selected, so we do nothing
    if (ni == null) return;
    // See if the Node is overriding our default popup menu...
    com.harcourt.applications.tgen.browser.nodes.NodeMenu nodeMenu = ni.getMenu();
    nodeMenu.activate(tree.getView(),ni);
    JPopupMenu popup = (JPopupMenu) nodeMenu;
    if (popup != null) {
    popup.show(e.getComponent(),
    e.getX(), e.getY());
    The nodeMenu.activate call is just used to check whether or not certain menu options need to be enabled or disabled before displaying the menu. My theory right now is that, on some of these machines (all windows), a right click of the mouse is not generating a mouse event unless they have already something selected. I don't think it's a focus issue, because if they left click to select a node, and then ctrl-left click to de-select it, the right button then no longer generates a popup menu. They must select a node, then right click. Maybe there's no mouse event generated, or maybe this line is failing on some machines?:
    TreePath clickedPath = tree.getPathForLocation(x,y);

  • Servlet and EJB on different machine: Security propagation

    Hi all,
    I have an application, where my servlets and EJBS are deployed on the same machine.So
    when in my servlet a user need to authenticate himself, security credentials are
    propagated to the EJB automatically.I'd like to know in the case where the components
    are on different machine if I need to put the credential in my InitialContext
    when my servlet calls my EJB or if it is also done automatically.
    Cheers

    Say your stub is in a jar called stub.jar.
    You need to put that stub somewhere that it can be reached through a protocol for which Java has a URL type - so you can put it on a shared file system and use a file URL or behind an http server and use an http URL.
    Let's use http - put stub.jar at the docroot of a web server.
    Then, when you start your SERVER code, include this VM parameter:
    -Djava.rmi.server.codebase="http://<serveraddress>stub.jar"
    Now your client will be able to use http to load the stub file out of stub.jar through http.
    If you do use a file URL, make sure the shared directory you put your jar in is not on the client's classpath.

    I've developed a web application and my mapviewer base url reside on a different machine.
    The map doesn't appear... i get error: f16.f45[...].0 is null or it'snt an object...

  • Standalone oc4j in 3 different machine with clustering enabled

    Hello,
    I just want to know if clustering is possible in my situation.
    I have 3 different machine/server with a load balancer, I've installed a standalone oc4j in each machine, I deploy my application to each of the standalone oc4j, I have enable the clustering of each oc4j using peer to peer configuration.
    Machine 1 pointing to node of Machine 2
    Machine 2 pointing to node of Machine 3
    Machine 3 pointing to node of Machine 1
    Then I test my application, for my first try I was pointed to machine 1 by my load balancer, created a session, etc..etc.., after that I stop my application to oc4j machine 1, then after I refresh my page, the load balancer pointed me to machine 2, and there I see that my session is lost. Clustering is not working.
    Can anyone guide my if clustering is possible using oc4j's only. Thanks.

    I have solved this issue.
    It turns out that wls 10.3 does not always delete an application cleanly.
    I found 3 copies of the application remaining in the server.
    I deleted and reinstalled the wls and the problem was solved.

  • Different task sequences available on different machines??

    Hi there,
    hopefully someone has seen this before as i'm a bit confused here. I've got MDT 2013 installed and have been happily deploying to all manner of machines for months now.
    But today i've noticed that different task sequences are appearing for different machines. Eg, i have a DELL Latitude E7240 that shows the task sequences as expected, however when i run the same lite touch vbs script on an Optiplex All In One (that has been
    imaged off the network before), i get a completely different set of task sequences available.. when i try to select one of these, i get a message 'Bad task sequence item (missing OS)'.
    This is definitely connecting to the same deployment share and they are the same PE version (64 bit). The task sequences i want to see are checked as enabled and not hidden etc..
    I just don't know where to check from here, any ideas for me please??
    Adam

    Hi Keith,
    thanks for the response, but the process doesn't get to writing logs - the bdd.log file just shows that the deployment was cancelled.
    I'm trying to understand why on one machine a specific set of task sequences is available, but not on another?
    I can run the deployment on my E7240 and the task sequence doesn't throw the 'missing OS' message, but on another machine the task sequences are a little different but when i try to run the one that does work on the E7240 (as it appears in the list on the
    other machine) i DO get the 'missing OS' error.
    weird.. ??
    still very stumped...

    Generally when creating a Word file from either a Mac or Win7 pc and opening it on two different machines (either one first) it always prompts that the file is open and will be opened as read only.
    However opening a CSS file does not prompt that it is already open on or from any machine which is causing code edits to be lost.
    What we found from out testing:
    - The file can be saved from one user to the server and WILL NOT PROMPT on other machines until the saving machine has the Dreamweaver program closed completely
    - The file can be closed and  Dreamweaver minimised to the launch bar but it still will not register on other machines that it has been changed.
    - Also, until the  Dreamweaver program is closed on the machines, it will continue to open it's saved version of the file.
    Example Scenario:

    - User 1 saves his file and closes it - but  Dreamweaver is still open.
    - User 2 also saves his file and leaves  Dreamweaver  open.
    - The server will report the size and last edit of the file the same as User 2 as he was the last person to save it (and if you open from the Win7 Machine it will show as User 2’s 2300 line version)
    - If User 1 then open's the file again (from either the 'recent' in Dreamweaver OR clicking on the file directly in Finder...which version opens.... The version that User 1 saved! Not the true version on the server, but the version that User 1 edited and saved with 2500 lines in it.
    - Same for User 2, he will open 'his' version with 2300 lines in.
    Other information:
    - Files are opened directly from the server
    - Sometimes the users will save incrementally and re-open
    - Most of the time users will save incrementally and keep the files open
    - The users will never not save incrementally and just save when closing the file once finished
    - The users are usually working on the files all day
    - It is always the bottom lines of code that are lost. It could be a case of the two versions being mixed up and cutting off the newly added lines based on the line count (possibly).
    It is as if Dreamweaver is holding a cache of the version locally and then only properly looking back to the server when it has been completely closed. It is very difficult to see how the server is causing such an impact on these files, there are very few logs which are giving any indication to the root cause of the problems.
    Anyone know if this is a known issue?
    Is there a way that there can be a featured implemented on the server that doesn't allow another user to open a file if it is already open on another machine?
    Thanks

    Your server file handling has nothing, and really nothing to do with Adobe software. If files don't get locked for (over-)writing and/or lose connection to the program opening them, then your server is misconfigured. It's as plain and simple and that. Anything from "known file types"/ file associations not being set correctly, MIME types being botched, crooked user privileges and file permissions, missing Mac server extensions, delayed file writing on the server, generic network timeout issues and what have you. Either way, you have written a longwinded post with no real value since you haven't bothered to provide any proper technical info, most notably about the alleged server. Either way, the only way you can "fix" it is by straightening out your server and network configuration, not some magic switch in Adobe's software.

  • Problem with NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi on different machines

    We have 5 machines here in our workgroup which have the same state regarding security patches and other system updates. We recently found out that there is a problem with the NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi on the different machines.
    If I would open the VI on MachineA the control could be loaded. If I would open the VI on MachineB the control could be loaded. If I would copy the VI from MachineB to MachineA and open the VI the control could not be loaded. If I would copy the VI from MachineA to MachineB and open the VI on MachineB the control could be loaded. MachineB could load the version from MachineA and MachineB but on MachineA only the own version will load. I have seen that both versions have the same GUID for the Microsoft Webbrowser but are different in some other aereas.
    Since printing HTML Reports is part of the application which will be distributed as application I want to know if someone else have seen such a behaviour or has got problems distributing an application.
    Also I want to know which additional information is stored in an Active-X container about the control beside the GUID.
    We have Win XP Prof SP2 with MS IE 6.0.2900.2180 on all machines in the workgroup.

    Hi Tom,
    this is the VI <vi.lib>\Utillitiy\NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi copied from a machine that can load and run the VI and it will print. On this machine the control in the VI is white.
    This VI will give the "Control could not be loaded" message on my machine.
    The file shdocvw.dll is 2006-10-23 16:18 size 1.460 KB and I verifyed that both machines have the same version of this file.

  • Access application hosted on a different machine.

    Hi,
    I've written a simple web application to select an excel file through a jsp and write it's contents to text file. I select the execl file by browsing through the folders in my system. when i submit the form giving the location of the text file to which this excel file contents have to be written i'm getting the expected result. This application is hosted in Tomcat in my system. But when i tried accessing the application from another system my application is unable to find the excel file path selected in that machine. So i'm getting FileNotFoundException. Please suggest a solution.
    Thanks,
    Sudha

    Hi,
    I know that an application is hosted on a particular system. That application's job is to take the excel file selected by me and create a text file out of that. But as that application is hosted in a different machine it is unable to find the path i select. My doubt is like is it possible to have an application like this with actual source code and server on one system and user accessing from a different system and still able to find the path of the excel file the user is selecting?
    Thanks,

    h.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY," ********what should i use here???????*************************")
    Each app server provides their own jndi factory class. For ex for weblogic it is weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory. SInce you are using sun app server, check if there are any examples to find out or the docs.
    private static String url="http://localhost:4848
    Since the client is in a different machine the localhost is not going to work here. provide the url or the machine name of the system in which ur sunapp server is running. In addition u will need to have the stubs of the remote interfaces in ur client machine.

  • How to copy data of a table to the same but on a DIFFERENT MACHINE?

    Hello experts,
    I want to copy all entries of table TE422 to the same, but on a <u>different machine</u>. I created a transport request (workbench request using TABU) intending to copy the entire table data from QA into DEV environment.
    However, this is not working, because, in our installation, QA is on one server, and DEV on another! So, in a way, each machine seem to be transparent to the other and I cannot, or, do not know, how to specify the DEV environment as target.
    I was told that I have to do something at the OS level. That is to say, have some kind of SQL query which collects data from one and uploads it onto the other.
    Now my question is: Is there a SAP way to do this, that is to say, forget the SQL thingy and do it with some SAP transaction? If yes, how? If not, do you have a sample code which does this please?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Goharjou

    Method 1:
    You can transport using ALE/IDOC, Write a simple outbound function moule in Source System and Develop a Inbound function module in target system.
    Method 2:
    Download the entire table contents into a flat file from source system by developing a simple report using WS_DOWNLOAD function module. Then Develop a report using WS_UPLOAD in target system and upload thd flat file.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vijay
