Depr. key for daily depreciation

Hello All,
I have deferrals in AA and daily depreciation for them.  For this purpose I copied the existent standard depreciation key and put in AFAMA checkbox Depreciation to the day.
So, for example, I have an asset, bought on 14.10.2009, the value is 140.000 USD, useful life is 14 months (till to 14.12.2009). The depreciation for October should be: 5.667 for other months 10.000 and for December 4.333.
But system does not account this check box and plan depreciation in October as in usual month.

Thank you, you were right!
BUT
when I create a new asset with capitilization date of 20.02.2009 and value 1300$ for 91 day (3month) system planed:
1 J -           0.00
2 F -           85.71-
3 M -           400.00-
4 A -           428.58-
5 M -           385.71-
6 J -           0.00
7 J -           0.00
8 A -           0.00
9 S -           0.00
10 O -           0.00
11 N -           0.00
12 D -           0.00
TOTAL:           1,300.00-
But if we make manually calculations, system should planned
for February: 1300$:91d(28d-20d)=14,28$8d=114,24 $
for March: 31d14,28$=442,68 $*
for April: 30d14,28$=428,4 $*
for May: 22d14,28$=314,16 $*
TOTAL: 1299,48
Why do not system plan such figures and what to customize for this?

  • Unplanned adjustment for closed FY and changing of depr key for new FY

    Hi Everyone,
i understand that this is a common problem and some folk have already post similar post, however i find that confusing or maybe i have not search enough.
    here is my problem:
we have gone live for 2 year, since 2009. we have posted depreciation based on the old depre key for the last 2 years. in the current FY, the auditor have found a mistake and wanted to change the depreciation key and post the unplanned depreciation for the overcharge. may i know the correct steps to execute this change? and is there any important area that i have to pay attention to?
please take note that the current FY is already coming to an end.
    example of steps:
    1. post the overcharge amount through unplanned depreciation AFAA
    2. change the depreciation key and change the start of depreciation date, expired useful life
    3. run depreciation posting for planned and unplanned
    Regards,
    John

    1. post the overcharge amount through unplanned depreciation AFAA
    2. change the depreciation key and change the start of depreciation date, expired useful life
    3. run depreciation posting for planned and unplanned
    1. You create a separate transaction type for this purpose of else use 640 or 641. Posting them by using AB01 or ABSO. At this point this will be at FI-AA only, when you run depreciation to AFAB, then the GL entries will be posted.
    2. You need to execute LSMW in order to change the Dep. Key, Depreciation Start Date and Expired Useful.
    3. You run the repeat run in AFAB, if you have already posted the depreciation, otherwise, usually select "planned posting run".

  • Changing Depreciation Key for Tax for closed fiscal years -

    Hello,
Hoping someone can help me with this question - Is it possible to change the depreciation key for closed fiscal years - we need to change it for Tax - books. And if yes - does it mean we need to open closed fiscal years ??
    Thank you,
    Richa

    Hi,
you will need to open the FI and AA periods. After changing the depreciation keys do the necessary dep run and close the books in the correct sequence. There should not be problem.

  • After AFAB, I've changed depreciation key for an asset from 20% to 0%

    Hi All,
I've posted depreciation (AFAB) for periods from 01 to 04 (Depreciation Area 20).
Later I've changed the depreciation key for an asset from 20% to 0%.
In my test SAP allows me to update depreciation data only in the period 05 (for previous data).
Is there the way to repete the depreciation posted in the periods from 01 to 04!
    Cluo d anyone help me??
    Thanks

    Rossi,
Since you have already posted the depreciation for the periods 01 to 04, the system assumes that there are no postings pending for those periods and hence shows the recalculated depreciation in period 05. But you can do the repeat depreciation run using AFAB transaction code. You can try them for period 04 and the entire depreciation posted till 04 will get charged in Period 04 itself.

  • Depreciation Recalculation after control period change in a depr. key

    Hi gurus,
I've a problem with dep recalculation:
for a specific dep.key (with Multilev.method= 20%, constant)  the control period is 06/06/06/06 so the starting dep date is at the begin of the year. For example if I post (in 2009) 100 for an asset  the depreciation is 20 for every year.
Now I need to have a half depreciation in the first year of useful life (even if in 2009, yet open) so I've changed the control period in 07/06/06/06.
My problem is that for assets posted before this change in the key, the planned depreciation is not changed in 10 but is 20 again, even if I run AFAR.
How can I do to change the planned depreciation for asset posted before the control period change?
    TNX in advance
    Principey

    Hi Sachin,
    Tnx for your response.
unfortunely also this method doesn't work.
Now I'm tryng to reach my goal (set half depreciation in the acquisition year  -also for assets already posted-) with a new way:
I've set again the period control at 06/06/06/06 changing now the multilevel method defining two levels:
    Year: 0 > Percentage: 20%> Reduction: 50%
    Year: 999 > Percentage: 20%> Reduction:0
In this way AFAR appears working but I'm testing to find problems side.
    Any suggestions?

  • After 2 years want to change depreciation key for a asset

    Hi,
For a particular asset we want to change depreciation key for this asset already we have posted depreciation for 2 years. After 2 years user realizes they are using wrong depreciation key now they want to change depreciation key for a particular asset.  In new financial year till now they have not posted depreciation .I just want to now what is the impact of this changes how we will adjust the value in future because previously they are calculating depreciation  1.63% now they want to calculate depreciation 3.33 % can any one tell me about the future impact of asset.
How we will adjust the value?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Neha

    Hi,
Does your user wants to post the depreciation for closed Fiscal years?
If yes First calculate unplanned depreciation for the difference up to the last closed fiscal year and post in the current year.
Now after posting this then change the depreciation key in the asset master and in the next run the system identifies the difference between posted value with the old Key and teh correct key and adjusts the difference in the current period depreciation run.
If the user don't want to post the values of the previous years, change the key in asset master so that the difference in the depreciation from the start of the fiscal year is adjusted in the current period.
Future impact if the option is second the asset life will be more when compared to the actual life. In first case there is no effect.
Provide Business with these two solutions and they have to choose between the options.

  • Depreciation Key for Capital Leasehold Improvement

    Hi Everyone
I need your help in creating the depreciation key for the Capital leasehold improvemnet assets. I need to specify a specific percentage rate for each period of the first year to calculate depreciation (if asset is acquired in period 1, rate x. If asset is acquired in period 2, then rate y and so on). From year 2-39, it is a constant rate of depreciation.
I created a multilevel method by specifying that year 1, base level 01, rate is 2.461
Year 39, base level 01, rate is 2.564.
I assigned it to the depreciation key with Base method 0012, Period control 002, and the multilevel method that I created. When I post an asset acquisition and use this key for Asset, the amounts for year 1 & 2 are not correct. Second year is taking part of percentage from the first year and the first year is trying to calculate the depreciation for the whole year despite the fact that asset was capitalized in February.
Can someone help me with step-by-step details to create this key?
    I appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Shalu

  • Daily Depreciation

    Dear Experts,
My client wants to calculate depreciation on daily basis i.e. for 360 or 365 days of a year and does not want to use period logic i.e. monthly. Now, I have a problem with configuring this requirement because in transaction AFAMP which as far as I know determines when depreciation starts there is no option for daily calculation. To clarify the case, I want a solution by which if I buy asset in 20th month, depreciation to be calculated for only 10 remaining days of month, or if I sell my asset on 8th of month, my depreciation be equivalent of 7 days of that month.
Thanks for your time in advance,
    Regards,

    Rakesh,
    Follow the following steps:
    1. Tcode AFAMA
    2. Double click on dep key to be assigned "Dep to day" (Suggested to build a new Z Dep key)
    3. In next screen you will see the "Dep to Day" selection box as per screen attached.
    4. Period control helps decide the "Ord dep start date"
    5. No special period control is required in case business user will always update the dep start date.
    6. In general some companies like to follow 1st of the month, or half month convention etc. in that case you should open a new question, or there are some other discussion available which you can review.
    7. To verify your dep key working properly, create an asset, post some value, look up table "ANLB" field "PERFY" value should be 365 (Days)

  • Avoid depreciation posting for a depreciation area

    Hello experts,
    I have the following problem:
I created a new valuation area for fixed assets that is to be active since 31.12.2007. Values are going to be uploaded for the new area in this transfer date. Afterwards, depreciation  for years 2008, 2009 and 2010 is to be run in order to post the depreciation of the new area during these years but I don´t want any depreciation to be posted in area 01 by any means, because for this area depreciation is already posted. I know that no depreciation shoud be posted because planned depreciation is already equal to real depreciation in area 01 but just in any case I would like to avoid depreciation to be posted in this area.
So, I thought about shutting down the asset for area 01 but when testing it. I don´t see the efect, I mean the asset keeps depreciating. I put the shutdown flag in the asset master data and also created a new depreciation key, to assign a different key depending on depreciation area. For the area I need sutdown, shutdown indicator is set to "yes" at the assignment of calculation method (transaction AFAMA) but for the depr. area I don´t need the sutdown indicator is set to "no" .
Is it a good idea to use asset shutdown in this case or is there any risk of area 01  trying to adjust the already posted depreciation?
Why shutting down the asset is failing since I configured both asset master master and depr. key?
Is there another solution (different to shutdown) to avoid posting depreciations in area 01?
    Thanks in advace, rmb

    Hi,
my last answer was wrong - I'm sorry.
    Shutdown is the correct solution.
For shutdown there are 2 settings relevant.
    1) in Asset master date you hav set the flat shotdown.
    2) In depr. Key you have not set "Shutdown. Yes"
          ad 2)
    AFAMA:
      Depr. Key
        -> Assignment of Calculation Methods
-> please see the last field below.
For sure I would not change the standard depr. key, i would make a copy.

  • How to get Depreciation key independant from Depreciation area

    Hello,
We are using two depreciation areas  01 book depreciation and 15 Tax, in our asset class we have put  for both the same depreciation key (GD50) but with a different uselife for every depreciation area
Now when we create a new asset (AS01) intially the correct uselife appears ( tab depreciation area) but apparently when i want to change the one for depreciation area 01 its also changed in depreciation area 15  - how can we avoid that 15 is 'linked' to 01?
    Many thanks

  • SM36/37: Specification "After Job" does not work for Daily "periodcity"

I reviewed http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/20/2d513897110872e10000009b38f889/content.htm, which states what I am trying to do should work, but it does not.
    Here's the deal:
    1.  I have two jobs: "A" and "B".
    2.  "A" runs Daily.
    3.  I set-up job "B" to run "After job" "A" in my SM36 definition.
Job "B" will run the next day, but never runs again after that even though job "A" continues to run "Daily" as it should.
    Further info:
    1.  We have "Event-triggered" jobs that run fine, but the "After Job" designation doesn't seem to work ongoingly.
    2.  I can review both jobs "A" and "B" for any "Predecessor" or "Successor" jobs, and, the first jobs to run after the initial set-up DO reference each other (in other words, let's say I schedule job "B" to run "After job" "A" on Tuesday.  After Tuesday's run, Job "A" sees job "B" as it's "Successor" job and job "B" sees job "A" as it's "Predecessor" job), but the definition doesn't last into the next day ONLY FOR JOB "B" (as I mentioned, job "A" always runs fine).
    3.  I can't set the "periodcity" for job "B" because, once I flag it to run "After Job" "A", the "period" options disappear.
    4.  One final tidbit: the variant for job "B" has a "key date" specified so the date is dynamic for each day the job runs.  I can set up job "B" to run "Daily" with this variant and it runs fine, but I wanted it to run AFTER job "A" so it never runs if job "A" doesn't run.  (At this point, it's becoming a matter of principal!)
    Here's my question:
Why won't job "B" continue to run "Daily" after job "A" (a "Daily" job) runs?
    Thanks in advance,
    Lara

  • Can depreciation accounts can be used for unplanned depreciation

    hii friends
i have an issue that how to make manual deprecaiation posting. and if we go for manual depreciation posting than in account assignment can we use the same depreciation account. ???
we do not want to reveal that it is a manual deprecaition but want to do some adjustment through manual deprecaition. Is it possible...????
    please let me know....
    Thanks
    sejal

    Hello
Manual depreciation is possible to an asset and this would be an unplanned depreciation.
The same GL account is used and no seperate a/c is required.
Ensure depreciation key does not have automatic calculation methods set in it.
Lastly, remember, when you perform unplanned depreciation no FI documents are generated, however they would be generated along the period end posting run.

  • Deprection keys for IFRS

    Dear Experts,
We are using Deprecation 40 for IFRS. In IFRS point of deprecation will calculate on the basis of useful life (for example 1years, 3 years, 33 years etc).
In the above case kindly tell me how I have to configure the calculation method (Presently we are using Multilevel method) and deprecation keys for IFRS.
For IFRS purpose we have copied the for the exiting deprecation area 41 and changed the name as 40-IFRS.
In the above case what are the settings I have do for IFRS (For example Acquisition value, Net book value, Investment grants etc)
    Regards,
    Venkataswamy

    Hi Ajay
    Thanks for your early response
When i was creating the depreciation key for IFRS system is giving the below warning messege
SMI S18 N 1 : Dep. after planned life end incompatible with dep. over rem. life
    Message no. ACRSL016
    Diagnosis
A depreciation method over the remaining useful life is only mathematically logical during the useful life of the asset. Transactions that take place after the useful life is expired can no longer be depreciated using this method.
This entry makes sense only if depreciation ends during the fiscal year, and you entered a changeover method.
    Procedure
Check if depreciation ends in the course of the fiscal year, and if a changeover method was entered. Otherwise, change the "Rem.Life" (calculate percentage from remaining life) indicator in multi-level method S30 or change the "Dep. after plnd.life end" (Depreciation after planned life end) indicator in base method 0014. The incorrect entry is in SMI S18 N 1 (chart of depreciation, depreciation key, depreciation type, depreciation phase).
    Kindly help me on this
