Depreciation areas posting to seperate ledger

Hi
I created two depreciation areas:
01- Companies Act
10- IFRS
I want 01 depreciation area to hit to leading ledger (0L)
I want 10 depreciation area to hit to non-leading ledger of IFRS ((IL)
Let me know where i can do setting for the same and other settings to be done for the same

Check the documentation in the IMG: Valuation >> Depreciation area >> Set up areas for Parallel valuation
You can mention the target ledger group in Depreciation area config.

    I want to know how to post assets retirement and transfer transaction into non-leading ledger.
    I setup one depreciation area 50 for local tax depreciation and accordingly one non-leading ledger ZZ for local satuary report.
    Depreciation area posting indictor
    01: Book depreciation             1
    50: Tax depreciation               3 (only post depreciation)
    90: Variance (50 minue 01)      6
    system was able to peform below:
    1) for acquisition transaction, same APC value was updated into both ledger
    2) for depreciation, different depreciation amount can post into each ledger
    But I don't understand below results:
    1) For retirnment transaction, there is only one FI document posted into leading ledger with APC and accumulated depreciation. But I could not find any related document in non-leading ledger.
    2) Same as assetes transfer transaction
    3) But in assets explorer, the APC, accumulated depreciation was cleared correctly, also there is difference of accumulated depreciation in area 90(derived area)
    I think it was different with my expectation: I thought SAP can post FI document to each ledger with APC and different accumulated depreciation.
    My question was how to get the APC and accumulated account balance in non-leading ledger with local tax depreciation based.

    ASKB was "Periodic Assets posting" but in our IMG the G/L posting indictor of prallel depreciation area was 3 (only post depreciation) and 6(only APC directly).
    The setting was configured through the SAP wizard "Setup Areas for Paralle valuation".
    Can you give further advice?

    I want to configurate a depreciation area for a non-leading ledger. This is my scenario:
    01-Accounting area leading ledger. Group legder: 0L (on line)
    02- Accounintg area non leading ledger. Group ledger N1 (Area posts APC only directly)
    03-Depreciation non leading ledger. Grouo ledger N1 (Area posts depreciation only)
    Is it correct to created this 2 areas for non leading ledger?

    Hi Cecilia,
    additionally to my colleagues:
    For each additional set of accounting principles, you create one real  and one derived depreciation area.                                                                               
    Real Depreciation Area:                                                                               
    1. In Customizing for Financial Accounting (New), choose Asset Accounting  - Valuation  - Depreciation Areas  -Define Depreciation  Areas.                                                                               
    2.  Assign both depreciation areas to the same ledger group.                                                                               
    The ledger group you assign them to is not allowed to contain the leading ledger.                                                                               
    3.  In the Posting in G/L field, choose Area Posts Depreciation Only.                                                                               
    Derived Depreciation Area:                                                                               
    It is easiest to create the derived depreciation area using the Wizard.                                                                               
    4. In Customizing for Financial Accounting (New), choose Asset Accounting - Valuation - Depreciation Areas - Set Up Areas for Parallel Valuation.                                                                               
    5. In the Posting in G/L field, choose Area Posts APC Only.  Specify that this derived depreciation area represents the difference between the real depreciation area for parallel accounting and the        
    master depreciation area.                                                                               
    You do not have to set up a separate account set for these new depreciation areas. Instead you use the account set of the master depreciation area. In this scenario, you do not have to create any new  accounts in the chart of accounts or in the company code. You also do  not have to create a new financial statement version.                                                                               
    So a typical dep.area setting for a parallel ledger at you is like:

  • Non-leading ledger depreciation area posting depreciation expense at current exchange rate - need to be historical

    Hi all,
    We are facing an issue where we have a depreciation area "02" posting to our non-leading ledger. It is set to post depreciation only.
    I noticed the depreciation expense is hitting the non-leading ledger and translating (CAD) into group currency (USD) at the current exchange rate. But in the leading ledger, the rate is historical.
    How can we have the non-leading ledger post at historical exchange rates for depreciation postings?

  • Depreciation area for non leading ledger  - Posting

    Hi SAP Guru's.
    I have one project for migration to new GL ledger with scenario 7.
    I had finised configured in SAP system.
    I create new depreciation area 41 is for nonleading ledger and need to post to GL ledger.
    Now in depreciation area 01 , system had finished dreprciation posting run on period 05 already.
    When I run AFAB , system not allow me to repeat post on period 01 , 02, 03 and 04.
    Can anyone point me to the solution?

  • Depreciation Area posts APC twice

    Dear Experts
    We want to adjust APC & Dep in Non leading ledgers as per Local GAAP
    I've kept the following settings for my depreciation areas in OADB
    01 - Leading Ledger - Ledger 0L - Posting Ind 1
    11 - Non Leading Ledger DE - Posting Indicator 2 or 4
    Now when I do an asset acquisition, system posts the depreciation in Ledger 0L & DE correctly. But another entry is generated in  DE ledger just because we have keeping it 2 or 4.
    System doesnt identify that a posting has already gone to DE and still tries to create another entry and I feel its a bug / technical issue.
    So it must to keep posting indicator 3 for Dep 11 and to have another Dep area say 20 (11-01) with posting indicator either 5 or 6. to avoid this duplicate posting?
    Please suggest.

    Hello Kapil,
    You need to use derive depreciation Area
    Area                                GL indicator        Ledger
    01        Leading Ledger   1                          0L
    11        Non Leading         3                         DE
    90        Difference             6                        DE
    90 must be set up as (Area 11 - 1)
    When you post Acquisition let say 100, Both ledger will be posted
    Document no: 1  (in the accounting document Ledger group is Blank: meaning all ledgers are posted)
    0L    100
    DE   100
    When you post depreciation 20. (2 documents will be posted, 1 for 0L and 1 for DE)
    Document 1D:
    0L 20
    Document 1E:
    DE 20
    In case there is a difference between APC and Dep of Area 01 and 11
    Leading APC: 100 Non Leading APC: 200
    Document 1 APC:
    0L 100 (Area 01)
    DE 100 (Area 01)
    Document 2 APC:
    DE 100 (area 90 Area 11 -1 )
    That gives you 100 to 0L and 200 to DE

  • Define How Depreciation Area Post to General

    Dear SAP Gurus,
    I have following requirements regarding Asset Accounting:
    At present, in Depreciation Area for Group Reporting *'3-Only depreciation posted in the General Ledger'* rule was configured.
    Now, that rule is changed to "2-Post assets periodically in General Ledger" and Account Determination is done for posting APC and other Balance Sheet Accounts Accordingly.
    Please describe the detail process like how to transfer existing balnce of APC to newly created Account for APC and posting will take place in APC of Group if a new asset is acquired.
    Please reply soon its urgent.
    Points will be awarded.

    Hi Ekhlaque,
    When you look in your setup for G/L accounts you see (AO90)
    - Bal. sheet account: Acquisition and production costs              (BAL)
    - Contra account: Acquisition value posting                               (BAL)
    - Accumulated depreciation account for ordinary depreciation     (BAL)
    - Expense account for ordinary depreciation                              (P&L)
    The offset account you use is Contra account: Acquisition value posting.
    With this setup you have to run before the depreciation run the program ASKB - Periodic Posting. (this create the "double" posting on your G/L accounts. The Depreciation run will works for are 01 ands this area.
    Offend this setup is used for US-Books area 01 and XX for local (tax) books  
    During the year the total values on these G/L accounts are 0.
    With the year end closing the value  Expense account for ordinary depreciation should be posted on  the Contra account: Acquisition value posting                               .
    (TC FS00  the Expense account for ordinary depreciation  should be assigned to a  P&L statement account type that is posting to the Contra account: Acquisition value posting depreciation)  
    Offen these accounts are created in the 9 account group and you have 2 balance sheet version.   A normal one and one whit these accounts

  • Assets Depreciation Area posting period authomatically opend for 2010 in 2013

    We are in year end process, currently facing the issue regarding assets accounting period closed and opened due to while we try to open new fiscal year 2014 ,system showing error closed fiscal year 2011 first for the deprecation area  I found in details of deprecation period has opened in table T093B, even we posted deprecation Mar 2014,
    Development changes
    Development for the all value allowed  for unplanned depreciation in last week  for all depreciation area , change in AODB
    Is there any effect to above issue ?
    What is the reason to changed deprecation fiscal year.

    u have to assign depre area to ur company code..
    Please check.. you have to done step as following
    1. Copy Reference Chart of Depreciation/Depreciation Areas (Asset accounting -> organization structures -> Copy Reference Chart of Depreciation/Depreciation Areas)
    2. Assign Chart of Depreciation to Company Code(OAOB)     
    3. Define Depreciation Areas for Foreign Currencies(OAYH)     
    4. How depreciation areas post to the general ledger(Customizing FI-AA > Integration with the General Ledger > Define How Depreciation Areas Post to General Ledger)
    5. Specify Financial Statement Version for Asset Reports(OAYN)

    With a drived depreciation area , what different result between setting depreciation areas post to general ledger
    with Area Posts APC Only(5) or Area Posts Only APC Directly(6)?

    Hi Ping,
    5 means that RAPERB2000 makes the periodic posting
    6 means V2 posting.
    V2 means direkt posting. If this direkt posting don't works, the  RAPERB2000 makes the missing postings (4 and 6 have this kind of direkt postings)
    In the document header you can see:                                                       
    Transaction ASKBDN: direct posting                                                        
    Transaction ASKBN: Raperb makes the posting
    In Transaction ARAL you can see the reason why the V2 didn't work.

  • Posting assets to some depreciation areas

    Hello SAP Gurus,
    I have a Chart of depreciation with :
    01 Corporative area (principal ledger)
    02 Local area (local ledger)
    03 Revaluation of local area
    07 Fiscal area
    08 Revaluation of fiscal area
    Question is, how can I post to local or fiscal area without posting to pricipal area 01 ?. Using FB01 with a movement class that doesn't post on area 01 throws the followin error :
    &CAUSE&
    You have entered a transaction type which only updates depreciation
    areas, which are not automatically entered in the General Ledger.
    Therefore, no document can be created for Financial Accounting. In the
    transaction you have selected, however, you can only post business
    transactions with documents.
    &SYSTEM_RESPONSE&
    &WHAT_TO_DO&
    Via the menu bar 'Postings' and pull-down menu 'Miscellaneous', you can
    post without a document. Alternatively you can enter a transaction type
    which updates the depreciation area and has automatic entry to the
    General Ledger.
    How can I do that without destroying the local balance for the local ledger. I need to user the counterpart account..
    Help in advance.

    If I understood you correct, your depreciation area does not post values in general ledger. And you wish to post something to that depreciation area and to have contra account in GL? That is not possible; or your depreciation area posts to GL and you will be able to use transaction type that corresponds to this requirement, or your depreciation area is not posting to GL and you have to use ttype which is not updating GL.
    FB01 requiers creating of financial document and your ttype is saying that posting is related to depreciation area which does not post to GL. So, this is not possible. If you need posting in that depreciation area (which does not posts to GL) you need transaction like ABSO, not standard FI transactions.

    And Non-leading ledger (India) Fiscal year: April u2013 March (Year dependend)
    I was able to post correct depreciation for leading and non-leading ledger Depreciation areas with a stated percentage. But the calculation of Tax depreciation area is incorrect.
    As per client requirement, Tax depreciation area is setup only reporting purpose and no Depreciation posting.

    If it is >=180 days (as per Non-leading ledger Fiscal year) the system should calculate depreciation as stated percentage. Eg: 10%

  • Asset capitalization in specific ledgers/depreciation areas

    Scenario: Example:
    Leading Ledger 0L: IFRS- Book depreciation 01 in AA u2013Posting to GL
    Non Leading Ledger  Z0: US GAAP Depreciation Area 04 in AA- Posting to GL
    Non leading ledger Z1 :JP GAAP:  No depreciation area in AA ( We donu2019t want to capitalize in this ledger)
    All initial APC postings are updating in all ledgers even though no depreciation area for non leading ledger Z1 in asset accounting.  We donu2019t want to post non leading ledger Z1. Example: Lease Assets- we need to capitalize only in leading ledger.
    Do we need to maintain separate depreciation areas for each accounting principle?
    What is the best approach for this issue?

    Please be aware that real time postings on the leading ledger goes
    to all ledgers. This is standard functionality. To change this would
    require a modification to the ABAP code.
    You can go to help.sap.com to check the documentation:
    FI -> Asset -> Integration -> Parallel Account in Asset Accounting ->
    Making Settings for Parallel Ledgers in FI-AA
    Also the ledger scenario in your company code should have set up a
    smiliar looking to this:
    AREA     TEXT            POST TO GL                             LEDGER
    01       Local  GAAP     1 (Real time)                            0L
    05       abcdefg         3 (Depreciation only)                    L2
    33       DELTA AREA      5 or 6 (APC only or Only APC directly)   L2
    Please can you check again in your system if your ledger scenario is
    set up like above example putting your attention to the posting
    indicator of each area involved in the matter
    Acquisition/transf/retirement postings in area 01
    go to all ledgers independently of your setting in OADB and, if any
    difference occurs between area 01 an area XX this is posted trough
    the derived area YY (posting indicator 6).
