Depreciation reconciliation

Hi
I have taken depreciation run and when checked for one asset class it is not posted to G/L. What coulkd be the reasons ? How to reconcile between FI-AA? I have also checked in tcode ABST2. Its showing the difference as well. How to find out the reason for the same and how to correct it ?

Please check the below for error resolution:
1. Error in RAEWUS1A
For this error category, only refer to the error note from the long text and carry out the procedure detailed there.Use the documentation in case of doubt.
If the affected company code is a test company code, you may either reset the data of the company code and delete the assignment to the chart of depreciation or change the currency of the company code and the depreciation areas to a table that is not affected by local currency changeover.
Note also that you can only exit the program without errors if the current fiscal year in Asset Accounting corresponds to the year of changeover. That is, it is checked whether the year T093C-LGJAHR (corresponding to the current fiscal year) equals the fiscal year determined via the system date and the fiscal year variant.
If you want to test the local currency changeover to be dealt with in the next year and you are in the last month of your fiscal year, you have two possibilities to test the changeover:
Test in the current fiscal year
Set up your test system from productive data before you carry out the fiscal year change in production system. In the test system, you must in no case carry out the fiscal year change afterwards.Generate your own changeover package for the current fiscal year.
Test in the next fiscal year
You can only carry out the analysis in the next fiscal year, that is, if the system date is in the next fiscal year!
2. Error in RAEWUAFA (MQ563)
You can use Transaction AIAB to display the total of the open items on an asset. It should be possible to reconcile this total with the accumulated values on the asset. An incorrect reconciliation can have the following reasons (see also the long text of the error message).
a) During R/2 - R/3 migration, not all open or cleared items of the current year were migrated (see also R/2 Note 72848).
b) Incorrect legacy data transfer:items already existed before legacy data transfer.
c) For reversal transactions, it is not noted in all items that they are cleared.
d) Incorrect cumulative values, because the items were not added correctly to the cumulative values.
In cases a) and b) set the clearing information (ANEP-AUGLN) or set up a new item or delete an item with the support of your consultant and in case c) ask the support team. In the case of d), use the correction programs from Note 322988.
3. Error in RAEWUC1B (MQ555)
Analyzing the error with report RFEWSBAL and source modification AS.(Branching from the error message is possible).
The accounts in the list must now be examined. The following procedure is recommended by SAP:(you can change the sequence).
a) Compare the last two fiscal years for the affected account with the balances display (FS10) in G/L accounting. If the closing balance and the opening balance are different, the balance carry forward program (SAPF011) must be started again for the current year.
b) Create two asset history sheets for the accounts affected. For performance reasons, you are recommended to restrict by account assignment or by asset classes.Enter 0020 as the sort version, the year-end of the previous year and the year-end of the current year as the report date and activate 'Posted depreciation'.If the opening and closing values of the asset history sheet are different, the fiscal year change should be repeated. If the opening and closing value differ after the fiscal year change, you should examine whether a fixed asset with capitalization date exists for which acquisition dates are missing.
Note that down payments and acquisition values are shown together in the asset history sheet while there are normally different reconciliation accounts for it.
An incremental takeover may be present and the accounts are not reconciled correctly.
c) The asset history sheet for the previous year does not agree if you cross-check the values. In this case, RAABST01 should be started for the account affected. If the balance carried forward is affected, the year-end closing must now be cancelled, a depreciation recalculation must be carried out, a depreciation posting may need to be carried out and the year-end must be closed again.
d) The opening balance values of the current year do not match the value of the balance display. There may be a variety of reasons for this.
The error occurs only on the business area level. In Financial Accounting in the previous year, you must post a transfer between the business areas directly to the account using ABF1/FB01.For the differences refer to RFEWSBAL.There is only a problem if there are values on the account for business areas for which there are no longer any assets. You can use these business areas as an offsetting account assignment for the differences. You can make the postings in same way as for Note 69225. As an alternative, you can deactivate the business area balance sheets. You can choose this solution if you activated the balance sheets by mistake.Upto now you did not reconcile FI-AA and FI-GL at business area level either.
Incorrect legacy data transfer:if there already exist differences in the year of the legacy data transfer, the differences must also be written off on the G/L account in the previous year. Refer also to Note 69225. This error occurs especially when a local currency changeover is performed directly in the year of a mid-year legacy data transfer and the balance values of Asset Accounting were not posted at the beginning of the year, that is, on December 31 but on the key date of legacy data transfer to the general ledger. You encounter this error when the system displays pairs of entries in the list for the balance carried forward (period is blank) and for the key date (period 999).
The problem also occurs if you manage reserves for special depreciation and have not reconciled the reserve for special depreciation balance sheet account during transfer or migration.
RAABST01 finds missing line items - these must be regenerated using RACORR05.
The account was posted manually. You can see this using the line item display of the account. These manual postings must be reversed. If necessary, a separate account that is not posted to by FI-AA must be created.(Also refer to Note 69225 - however, the adjustment posting has to be entered in the previous year.)
Account is an accumulated depreciation account:depreciation was reset by program during the fiscal year or fixed assets were deleted but depreciation had already been posted.Correct the values in the general ledger in the previous year (see Note 69225).
Account is not a reconciliation account of Asset Accounting:contact an SAP consultant. A serious Customizing error exists. However, this only applies to depreciation areas posting online.Customizing can be checked with the report RACKONT1 or via the IMG:'Preparations for productive operation --> Check consistency --> Assets: Report for G/L accounts'.
Start RAHAFA01 for the account with indicator 'Display special dep.If accumulated depreciations exist for different depreciation types (for example, normal or special depreciation, transfers of reserves), check whether accounts for these depreciation types are entered in the corresponding account assignment. If not, maintain the accounts.
4. Error in RAEWUC1B (MQ557).
a) Create an asset history sheet for the affected accounts. For performance reasons, you are recommended to restrict by account assignment or by asset classes.Enter 0020 as the sort version, the year-end of the current year as the report date and activate 'Posted depreciation'.
History sheet for the current year does not agree if you cross-check the values. In this case, RAABST01 should be started for the account affected. For incorrect fixed assets a depreciation recalculation should be executed.
History sheet for single values and total values does not fit.In most cases the reason is a fixed asset without acquisition date.
b) The key date values do not match the value of the balance display. There may be a variety of reasons for this.
The error occurs only on the business area level. In Financial Accounting you must post a transfer between the business areas directly to the account using ABF1/FB01 or reverse the original document.
RAABST01 finds missing line items - these must be regenerated using RACORR05.
The account was posted manually. You can see this using the line item display of the account. These manual postings must be reversed. It may be necessary for you to create a separate account which is not posted to by FI-AA and post the difference amount to this account.
Please don't forget to award me points.
Thanks!

  • Parallel Ledger Vs.  Special purpose Ledger

    HI All
Can you please help me with the following.
I am doing an analysis comparison between Parallel ledger and Special purpose ledger. specificaly to the following requirements.
Month end currency translation by group account, company, trading partner, profit centre, partner profit centre, FI transaction type and FI segment with full audit trail; .
    Translation of certain accounts using a monthly average rate, others using a spot rate and some using an historical rate (the translation to group currency needs to be entered by account i.e. there is no one historical rate, the rate will depend on the account);
    Accounts translated at the monthly average need to be translated based on periodic movement and NOT the cumulative balance i.e. Cumulative at the end of period 3 = [(opening balance) + (movement for period 1 x monthly average for period 1) + (movement for period 2 x monthly average for period 2) + (movement for period 3 x monthly average for period 3)]. NOT: [(cumulative balance at the end of period 3 X monthly average for period 3)] which is incorrect;
If possible (as is possible in BPC):
For accounts translated at period end spot rate: separation of the currency translation movement  on the account balance into transaction types for:
    Currency translation difference on retranslation of the opening balance;
Currency translation difference on the movement for the period.
    The ability to define different rates per account, transaction type combination (i.e. the balance on the depreciation transaction type of the fixed asset accumulated depreciation reconciliation account should be translated at an average rate while the account balance as a whole is translated to the period end spot u2013 the difference between the translation of the depreciation movement at average and spot rates should be posted to a separate transaction type as u201CCurrency translation differences on the movement for the periodu201D;

  • Maintaining an asset without GL reconciliation flag

    Hi Folks,
My client wants to maintain Leased Capital Assets out of SAP because they want to post these assets manually due to step up reasons. For that purpose he wants to remove the reconciliation flag from GL master data for both accounts - that is leased cap asset account and accumulated depreciation for leased cap asset account.
    I have two questions;
1- We can remove automatic posting only flag form GL master data and leave these as a reconciliation accounts. Why do we need to terminate the status of these accounts as asset reconciliation accounts? As how they would maintain balance in AA ledger.
2- What could be the impact of this delinking in future?
Please also guide the right process for maintaining this account with manual postings.
    Thanks

That is because of the following reasons:
1 - I believe the leased asset functionality in AA is not able to handle the increases in lease payments that occur over the duration of a lease term. Almost all the leases for my client have at least one increase in lease payment over the lease term (called step ups).
2 - SAP records the obligation under capital lease as a long term payable to the lessor. For my client's future reporting purposes this obligation will eventually need to be disclosed as a separate line item on the balance sheet, which will require a manual adjusting entry to transfer the amount from accounts payable into a new reporting category.
3 - Client also requires that the obligation under capital lease be reduced by the portion attributed as principal in the lease calculation, SAP calculates the reduction in obligation as the total cash payment to the lessor.
4 - Client desires the calculated interest to be part of the Obligation under Capital Lease, SAP only includes this as a liability.
in the light of foregoing, client wants to calculate and track Capital Leases through excel spreadsheets and doing manual entries into SAP to record these transactions.
    Please advise

  • Vendor Reconciliation & Asset Reconciliation Account

    Dears
I am a little confused regarding the reconciliation accounts.
We are making for Asset Config settings for down payment posting.  I selected downpayment account for Asset Downpayment in AO90; but the system says the GL is not a reconciliation account.
When I saw the GL account, it is created as a Vendor Reconciliation account.
But in AO90 I think, we should give an Asset Reconciliation Account, right ?
If that is the case, why we should have separate reconciliation account for Vendor and Asset in Downpayment posting for Assets ?
When we post the Vendor Downpayment in F-48 using Spl. GL indicator 'A' , we are assigning the PO number also where asset is linked.
Spl-GL 'A' is linked to a reconciliation account for vendor.
Asset downpayment is also linked to a reconciliation account for asset.
If that is the case, which downpayment account, the advance amount for asset is posted ?

    Hi Niki
I personally dont like updating the Down Payments for assets in Asset Accounting.. It is inviting troubles w/o much of value-add.. If you post DP to asset, then Invoice and you dont clear the DP, the depreciation is calculated on Invoice amount + DP Amount
Ofcourse, it gets adjusted in future depreciation runs once you clear DP. But if you clear in subsequent FY, then thats a problem
In order to avoid updating DP in AA, follow the below steps
    1. Create a new FSG as a copy of G067 in which you will suppress the Asset Number
    2. Assign this FSG in Vendor recon accounts
    3. Do F-47 and enter the PO Number..
    4. System will give an error msg F5 378..
    5. Suppress it in OBA5, and you are done..
I remember this till date because this was one of my initial findings / learnings in my SAP Career ;-)

  • Unplanned depreciation in FI Fixed Assets does not post to FI-GL

We used transaction ABAA (unplanned depreciation) movement typ 640 to post a depreciation amount - The document has been posted in the AA module ( it is now showing against the Asset in the transaction Asset Explorer transactions  AW01N and AB03) however we do not manage to get it posted to FI and consequently have a reconciliation difference between the value in the AA module and the FI-GL.
Can anybody please give advise how we can correct this?
    We tried following so far:
    (1) post the unplanned depreciation document using transaction AFAB - depreciation posting run.
    No documents created.
The message log displays "You want to run the next planned run of the depreciation posting run in period 014. However, the last planned posting run was already performed for period 014."
Than tried to execute the transaction with selection 'repeat' , 'restart', 'unplanned depreciation run': no documents posted either ......
    (2) reverse the unplanned depreciation document using transaction AB08
This failed; the system reports following
"No FI document was generated for the asset transaction" and subsequently after clicking the 'post'button' an error"No unique header information transferred into Accounting
    Message no. RW001
Diagnosis:  The interface into Accounting requires:
    Header data
    Item data
    Currency data
The header data is missing, or several items were transferred.
    System Response
Processing of the data in the Accounting interface is not possible.
    Procedure
This is a system error of the application which was called up
So..............No idea how to get rid of this document.
    Can anybody help?
    Kind Regards,
    Arjan

    Hi Suresh,
    Thanks for you feedback.
I had already tried your suggestion; it was the actions which I mentioned under the point (1) in my message.
The system did not generate any FI document, this is exactly the unexpected problem that I am trying to solve.
    Any further suggestions?
    Kind Regards,

  • Asset Reconciliation Account

    Hello Experts-
I fell in a tricky situation at my work place. We have an asset reconciliation account which has a balance but, this balance does not correspond to any asset. When SAP Fixed assets was implemented here, they had a balance for this account and then have converted it into a reconciliation account. How do I create an asset which represents that balance as APC value? Or how would I transfer it from this reconciliation account to a clearing account so that I can create a real asset and transfer this APC to a real asset?
Any thoughts on this issue would be really appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    RNarayan

    Hi,
To post the balance values from the take over values from AS91 on the Asset Reconciliation Account
    You can use transaction:
    OASV
ABFI (use transaction type 100 and don't fill in an asset number)
The postings on these account are total postings by bussines area and there is no 1:1 relation with assets like with debtors and credititors. (when you run the depreciation it create total amounts

  • Difference in Ar01 and General ledger balance for Accumulated Depreciation

    Dear all,
I am facing a peculear problem that my Accumulated Depreciation amount which is not matching with AR01 repoert and My Accumulated Deprecaition G.L a/c from FS10n.
Last year it was matchning. I am useing ECC 5.0 version of SAP.
    I am assuring full points.

With the transaction ABF1 you can correct this (search on this forum how this transaction is working)
before you are make this posting you should found out what the reason is for the differences! Found out on the g/l accounts where you have differences and go then to the details.
Transaction ABST2 - Account Reconciliation can help you to to found the accounts with differences

  • Reconciliation A/C to Manual Postings

    Hi all,
We have 2 GL accounts, one is defined as a Reconciliation Account for Assets and is linked to posting the Accumulated Depreciation of the Assets.
The second GL account is linked to the Acquisition and Production costs of the Asset.
Both these Accounts are Reconciliation Accounts.
Now, we want to post a manual entries to these 2 GL accounts using Transaction FB01. Once we remove the " Reconciliation Account " indicator from these accounts, we will be able to post the entries using FB01.
If again later we make these GL accounts as recon accounts again, how is the balance that is posted to these GL accounts going to reflect??
Will the balance be treated seperately or will it be added to the Accumulated Depreciation calculated by the system.
    Thanks,
    Srik.

    Hi Amit,
But the thing is that they want to post the Accumulated Depreciation / loss incurred on an Asset to that account, but not through
the Asset Transaction but in this way manually.
will this afffect in any way. As they only want the depreciation amount to be increased in that Account.
This is happening because they have posted some wrong entries in the previous years.
    Thanks,
    Srik.

  • How to change Amts in Assets'-- G/L Reconciliation Acctts after closing

    Hi Experts,
I want to change / modify the Accumulated Depreciation Amounts for some Fixed Assets-->>G/L reconciliation Accounts.
This I want to do in the very first initial year (2005) - when the assets were first loaded / transferred from legacy system into SAP. This 2005 was also the year when SAP Production client started.
Moreover, the previous year 2005 has been closed now. The production client and company codes are active and productive.
Please tell me the procedure (or transaction codes) as to how to do that ????.
Please do not ask why ??? or how will I tally Assets sub-Ledger with Main Ledger OR how will I justify all these in previous balance sheets (which have already been generated) etc etc etc - Please no doubts and No Questions - only answers.
Please do not mind for my above statement because I only want to learn from you - respecting you as my guru.
I will definitely award points with free hand.
    Thanks & Regards
    Rajeev Sharma.

You say not to ask you why.  However, you must have a very good reason for doing this.  Asset Accounting is a subledger of the General Ledger.  Therefore they <b>MUST BE KEPT IN SYNC</b>.  If you make direct changes to the accounts, you will in essence put the two <b>OUT OF SYNC</b>.  That will cause problems during any reconciliation process -- quarter end or year end.
Normally, when legacy data is first loaded, the reconciliation process ensures that the data for assets in asset accounting is in sync with the general ledger.  At that time adustments are made to either the individual assets or to the gl accounts to ensure that they are in sync.  After that point you <b>SHOULD NOT</b> manually change the balances in the gl accounts.

  • Ussing different g/l accounts for depreciation postings for some costcenter

Is it possible to use in some cases for the depreciation (based on cost centers) different G/L accounts.
We have arround 20 asset classes and don't want to make 40 extra asset classes
Is here for config or a user exit?

    Hi Paul,
you will not get this via config I think.
But there would be a way to go I think. You can code out BAdI BADI_FIAA_DOCLINES. There is a method CHANGE_DOCUMENT with which you can realize your requirement. This BAdI is processed within the FI-AA line item generator, close before the end. In there you have influence to the internally created AA documents. If you want to realize your requirement, you can first check that the process you started is the depreciation run (reference procedure AMDP):
    maybe like that:
      CHECK is_rlambu-awtyp = 'AMDP'.
Then you can exchange the accounts in ACCIT.
But you have to remind that whatever you change in here is not reflected within FI-AA standard functionality. If you exchange expense accounts, reconciliation will not be possible any more with standard tools.

    Dear Expert,
I have 3 company code use same Chart Of Account, Controlling Area, Depreciation Area, Currency, Country and fiscal years.
But i still confuse about :
    1. G/L Reconciliation Account customer and vendor, do i create for each company codes ?
    2. How do I consolidate for tree company codes ? what should i do ?
Any expert can explain my doubt ?

Moderator: Please, avoid asking basic questions

    Hi
Here is the scenario of having 3 company codes assigned to 8 plants and have 19 depots + one distribution center (similar to depot with slight changes
its clear  plant assign to 3 company code, what about depots and distribution channale it work independent or assign to company code?
If depots are located in differnt city, then It should be plant not storage location and assign to 3 company code
then if it is the case what about Distribution center(functions as like depot with slight changes of sampling being done & no safety stock)?
Is it feasible & how to map this in SAP?
for this take help of sd guys
It may be plant or sale organization if not sale organization ,then create it plant ,but no manufacturing activity and not under MRP
Distribution center acts as co-coordinator for getting the goods from FG stores and sending to individual depots as per the requisition
This can be achive with  Stock transfer between plant

  • Manual posting to reconciliation account under asset account group

We need to maintain Asset Group (G007) to allow manual input in order to post a period end-closing adjustment as required by our external auditors. ( i.e in the reconciliation account under the asset account group, we need to check the 'allow manual input' option so as to do posting to this account manually).
Under normal circumstances, the posting should have been from WBS Element, to AUC, then to Fixed Assets.  However, since all the procedures have been completed until Depreciation Run, we have no option but to input this manually.
Similar Recon accounts which allow manual inputs are Accounts Receivable (GL Code 115000) and Accounts Payable (GL 210000).
My intention is to have this captured in the system as of Dec. 31, 2008; Reversed the same transaction on 01-Jan-09 and process it normally as mentioned above.
Valuable assistance will be highly appreciated.
    Best regards,

You can make manual postings on the asset reconciliation account with the transaction ABF1
    Use PK 70 or 75 , G/L account and transaction type 100.
The result is that asset accounting is no longer in line with your G/L accounts.
Put this transaction in your authorization make the posting and reverse and take the transaction out off the authorization!

  • ABST2 u0096 FA to g/l reconciliation program help

    Hi all,
Can anyone tell me the steps to run the ABST2 (FI-AA to G/L reconciliation program) if the fiscal year is closed for fixed assets through AJAB transaction, i.e,. Fiscal year 2006 is closed for FA in a company and I have to run the reconciliation for 2006.
I see that we can undo the fiscal year close or reverse the year-end close through OOAQ and then run reconciliation program but what would be the implications of doing that since we have posted the depreciation for period 01/2007.
    Thanks

    Hello sapuser,
    my case is;
I have a G/L account 3002040001, and this account is open item managed.
Bal.sheet adj.1 --> is 3002040001 and this account is open item managed, too.
    Both accounts are balance accounts.
In this case, is it possible to valuate this account?

    Hi all,
Can anyone tell me the steps to run the ABST2 (FI-AA to G/L reconciliation program) if the fiscal year is closed for fixed assets through AJAB transaction, i.e,. Fiscal year 2006 is closed for FA in a company and I have to run the reconciliation for 2006.

    Hi Deki,
I think the setup of "Account XXXXXX" is wrong. Using transaction code <b>FS00</b>, input the account number and the company code and press Enter. Click on the "<b>Control Data"</b> tab. Check if "<b>Line item display</b>" is ticked under the frame "Account Management in Company Code". If the answer is yes, you would have to untick this check box. <u><b>Reason:</b></u> Posting into Reconciliation accounts are memorandum entries and line item management are not allowed for such accounts. That is, they are control accounts. Save your entries and go back and re-execute transaction code <b>ABST</b>. You should no longer have the error.
    I hope the above helps.
Do not forget to award the points please.

  • Problems posting depreciation for legacy assets taken over

We recently loaded conversion balances for asset with a takeover date of Aug 2nd, with various prior capitalization dates. The date of last depreciation posted was set as Dec 31st 2004. When we try to post unplanned depreciation for all of 2005 in December, the system says depreciation for period 12 was already posted, so do a repeat run. There was no depreciation actually posted for period 12, because there were no assets before today. A check of the expense account and depreciation report and a search by depreciation doc type confirm this.
When we try a repeat run, it says cannot do it for period 12, need to do it for period 000. When we try it for period 000, it says no depreciation areas to post to. The config has been checked and the depreciation areas and posting periods are set up correctly.  The load, the depreciation posting and all steps for closing of asset fiscal year were successfully carried out in DEV and QA. The only difference in PRD is that the year was closed before the load, but we reopened it.
Also, the opening balance in the asset history sheet for 2006 does not agree with the closing balance for 2005, the difference being the planned depreciation amount. The FI-AA reconciliation report RAABST02 also shows a difference only in the Accum Depn accounts, equal to this figure. So clearly the system THINKs depreciation was posted. When we try to close asset fiscal year it says depreciation was not completely posted for 2005, but it won't let us post it. HELP!

I tested this whole thing in DEV and QA before we did the same process in PRD, and I was able to run depreciation in those clients, so I think the problem is specific to PRD. As I mentioned, the only difference in PRD is that we had closed the fiscal year so I had to re-open it to perform the load.
Yes, the problem I have been experiencing has been for Dec 2005 and I don't expect there to be anything in TABA because the system simply will not let me post depreciation of any type, for any period in 2005. I've tried it for period 8 as well. No matter what, it keeps insisting that depreciation was already run for period 12 2005 and to do a repeat run. When I try a repeat run, it says 'the last posting run was for period 000' and that only period 000 can be posted in the repeat run. When I try doing it for period 000, it says "there are no areas to post to".
I did try to reverse the Y/E close with OAAQ for 2005, but still no luck getting depreciation running. So you see why resetting it was looking like a good option? :-0
