Depreciation reposting, Asset master deletion Reg

Hi
I have come across a problem.Duplicate asset masters are uploaded in to the system and later on depreciation posting run is carried out for these assets.
Now we want to delete these assets masters.
As of my knowledge we need to change the Depreciation key and rerun the depreciation posting for the same periods.
But i am not able to change the depreciation key .System message is the perticular dep.key can not be changed.
Can any one help me with the detail process to be followed?
thanking you
Ramesh Babu

Hi I have successfully deleted the Duplicate Assets with the procedure stated in my earlier mail.
Now the users question is to corrrect the depreciation posted to duplicate assets.
I say that i have repeated the depn run with Depn key 0 for all the Duplicate assets and hence the depreciation earlier posted is rectified. No furthur adjusting entry is required.
Please correct me if i am wrong.

    Hi,
There are 2 aspect which you need to consider.
    1) For exisiting asset as  used AFBN as suggested by Srinivasa to activate the depreciation area.
    2) For new asset OAYZ configuation would populate the dep key and life.

    Hi,
While creating the asset master record, by mistake have ticked the deactivation check box in Depreciation Area tab of Asset master through transaction code AS01.
Later when I displayed the asset master record through transaction code AS03, I found that depreciation area tab is full of blank (No information).

  • System is not calcutiong tax depreciation in the asset master.

    Hi SAP Team,
As per configuration, SAP system is not calculating depreciation in the
area 11 tax depreciation in the asset master, however it is not
calcuating tax depreciation at the group asset level.
In our system we linked group asset in the area 11 in the asset master.

Check screen layout rules for that asset class, the field might have been suppressed.
SPRO --> Fin Acg --> Asset Acg --> Master data --> Screen Lyaout --> Define screen layout for asset master data -- select relevant screen layout rule assigned to asset class.
Click on logical field groups ---> General data --> Field group rules...... select radio button under optional

  • New Cost center Time-interval getting deleted automatically in Asset master

    Hi Friends,
While changing the cost center in the asset master data with a new time interval, the check-box 'Deletable' gets automatically ticked and the new interval gets deleted and the new cost center is updated in the old time interval. The check-box is greyed out and cannot be edited.
The right-most check-box in the 'More Intervals' button in the second tab of the asset master is the 'Deletable' check-box (Field Name: RA02S-XDEL).
Please help me to make the check-box editable or help me to remove the default tick in the check-box.
    Regards,
    Shilpi

    Hi Murlidhar,
Thanks a lot for the response.
If the check-box gets deselected when we press the 'Save' button, still the new interval is getting automatically deleted.
Earlier this was not happening, the new and the old interval was getting displayed separately. There are instances in the system, where both old and new interval is displayed.
Of late, we notice that the new interval is getting deleted as soon as we save it.
Please help to retain both the intervals.

  • AA Depreciation area created but not appear in asset master

    Hi you all!
I need to make a Depreciation area (which is a derived one - diffference between two others) visible in asset master data. I have tried but unfortunately I could not solve this.
Dep area is created and visible in reports only  but it does not appear in Asset master.
    Can someone help me?
    Regards,

    Further to update:
In OADB, you need to mention it as "Derived Depreciation Area".
You need to give the depreciation sign.
For example if you have 01 as Current Values, 02 as Historic Values, you can create 03 as derived depreciation area.
That means 03 is the resultant of 01 minus 02.
    03 = 01 -02
Please refer 1144500 and download the configuration notes to see how the derived depreciation areas are being created. This note is particularly for SORP requirements within UK for Public Sector Undertakings. You cannot us this configuration for countries / industries.

  • Depreciation area set in Asset Class does not appear in asset master data

Depreciation area does not appear in the asset master data however it is set in the Asset class. If other asset is created in the same Asset class that depreciation area is automatically set  in the asset master (it proofs that it is not a problem with Asset class).
I tried to set that deprecition area directly in the asset master data but all the fields are blocked for changing (is it possible to change that?).
What should I do as I need to post on that area ?
    Thank you,
    Jean

    Ok Zaid!  thanks,
But what treatment should I give to that asset? Because now it is not being evaluated in that area but we need to do it.
The asset was created in the prior exercise (year).

  • Issue in Asset Master

    Hi
I have an issue in which the Dep start date for Dep area tab for a particular dep area 15 is shown in display mode for asset master. How can i make it modifiable
    Regards
    Sanil Bhandari

    Hello Sanil,
Please check this SAP doc. Keep me posted.
    Period Control Method
    Use
For determining the depreciation start and end date for asset transactions, you can set an appropriate period control in the period control method for the four transaction categories:
    Acquisitions
    Subsequent acquisitions/post-capitalization
    Intracompany transfers
    Retirements
This enables you to set the depreciation start date for all acquisitions within the same year to the beginning of the year, for example. You can also set the depreciation start date for retirements to the first or last day of each period. Using the asset value date of a transaction (acquisition or retirement), the system determines the start date or end date of depreciation calculation using the period control.
    Features
    Standard Period Control
When you set up an asset company code, the system automatically generates period control rules. The most important of these include:
Pro rata at period start date
Depreciation start/end is always at the beginning of the period in which the acquisition or retirement takes place.
Pro rata upto mid-period per period start date
For transactions up to the middle of the period, the depreciation start or end date is dated from the beginning of the period. Transactions after mid-period, however, are dated from the beginning of the next period.
    Pro rata at mid-period
This rule corresponds to the first rule. However it is intended for depreciation calculation based on half periods.
First year convention of a half year
    (See example.)
    Year start date/mid-year/year-end
For transactions on the first day of a fiscal year, the system calculates a whole year's depreciation, for transactions up to the middle of the year, half a year's depreciation and for transactions after mid-year, no depreciation.
At the start of the year
    At mid-year
At the end of the year (start in the following year)
    At mid-quarter
(see the "pro rata at mid-period" rule)
    At the first quarter
    At the following quarter/following month
    At the following half-year
Transactions up to the middle of the fiscal year have a depreciation start date on the middle of the year. Transactions after the middle of the fiscal year have a depreciation start date in the following year.
When you specify the fiscal year variant for the company code, the system automatically assigns calendar dates to the posting periods for these period control rules. However, the fiscal year variant has to be set up with either 12 or 24 posting periods.
You can modify these standard rules yourself, allowing you to flexibly define the relationship between the calendar date and the posting periods.
    First year convention:
    To 06/30
depreciation start date/end in period 0
    From 06/30 to 12/31
depreciation start date/end in period 6
The system interprets period 0 as the start of the fiscal year (January 1), not period 1. Period 6 represents July 1.
    Half-Periods
The number of posting periods in Asset Accounting generally corresponds to the number of posting periods in Financial Accounting. You can, however, double the number of depreciation periods if the basic number of posting periods corresponds to the number of calendar months (12). By setting a control indicator when defining the company code, you can specify the use of half-periods. By specifying the calendar date, on which the second half of a period begins (for example the 16th of the month) you can have the depreciation calculation start and end at the middle of a period. For more information, see Mid-Quarter Convention (USA) .
In order to use this option, you have to set a special indicator in the allocation rules of the period controls.
It is not possible to use half periods when you are using non-calendar fiscal months.
    Variable Period Control
Using an indicator when defining the individual depreciation keys, you can specify that a key does not use the period control of its assigned period control method. Instead it uses period controls you define for the company code and fiscal year.
This may be necessary, for example, when depreciating according to US law, if you only apply the mid-quarter convention to acquisitions in specific company codes or fiscal years.
If you change the period control of assets, in which the depreciation start date was already set, you have to then change their depreciation start date manually.

  • Can asset be deleted after some transactions are posted and completely depr

    Hi Gurus,
Can the asset be deleted if there is any transaction happened this year? The asset is depreciated in august completely. Now, I don't want that to reflect on my system. Please suggest me with some options. I have blocked the asset temporarily. Retirement of asset will serve the purpose?
    Regards,
    Ravindra

    Dear,
Please note that to delete assets, those assets must be:
    1. Never posted to
    2. Must be deactivated.
A delete flag can only be set for deactivated assets that were retired
through a complete retirement or a complete transfer posting, or for new
assets that have not yet been posted to, BUT WERE NOT ENTERED AS OLD
ASSETS DURING THE ASSET DATA TRANSFER FROM A PREVIOUS SYSTEM. These new
assets can also be physically deleted.
If the assets were creatd via a transfer from a legacy system, they may still have values in tables even though you delete transactions
You may only delete an asset via AS06 if the asset does not have any
    values.
If the asset has values then you may post a retirement to the asset
    and archive the asset.
As per note 1818 says, archiving for Assets Master Data will work for
those assets that are already deactivated or for those assets do not
deactivated but which has never received postings!
    hope this helps,
    regards

  • Change of Cost center in Asset Master

    Dear All,
In my organisation. the Asset Master was assigned to Cost center1. All acquisation and depreciation costs were collected in it. During the year the CC1 was changed to CC2. Now when we try to draw BW reports for these Assets, the Acquisition & depreciation costs do not match with the R/3 values. This is bcoz, the CC1 was overwritten with CC2.
Now, 1) how can I transfer all the costs from CC1 to CC2 so that my BW report shows the correct values.
    2) Is there in some way the old cost centers can be maintained  so that the BW report picks up correct values for these assets.
    Thanx
    Rosalyn

    Hi!
I am unable to do a manual reposting of Cost Center values from one cost center to another because there is no direct postings to any of the cost center.  Cost Center in my case has been maintained only in the Asset Master.
Acquisition costs are booked through F-90,with cost collector as Internal order which are defined as statistical.
Is there some other way in which I can transfer the balances to cost center 2 like a finance posting? or is it possible for the BW to pick up data directly from some table?
    Pls Help.
    Thanx

  • Error while creating asset master on a new company code

    Hi there,
While trying to create a new asset master - Asset class XXX cannot be used in company code XXXX
        Message no. AA130
    Diagnosis
When you create an asset, the system determines the chart of
depreciation from the company code definition. In order for a chart of
depreciation to be available for an asset class during asset
maintenance, the chart of depreciation has to be entered for that asset
class (Determine class valuation). Chart of depreciation YYYY that was
determined is not entered for asset class 123
    System Response
You cannot create any assets in your company code for this class.
Please revert if you have any details regarding this. I am sure I am getting this error because of a missing entry in v_ankbv. But i am not sure on what is the config step i m missing.
    Thanks,

You need to configure the node 'Determine Depreciation Areas in the Asset Class'  T Code-OAYZ.
Path : Financial Accounting (New) > Asset Accounting > Valuation > Determine Depreciation Areas in the Asset Class.
Assuming you have already done the other prior config steps involved like., Assign Chart of Depreciation to Company Code, Asset Classes etc.,
You can also refer to the Best Practices Configuration guide (Link Below) for further details:

  • How to import Fixed Asset Master File

    Hi all expert,
I used BAMasterDataImportFile to import the Fixed Asset. But the message as below appear :
"Import end;Number of successfully imported assets: 0;Number of processed assets:2"
After complete import the fixed asset master files still empty. May i know anybody can advise me for import fixed asset files?
    Thank for help.
    From:
    Eric Tan

    Hi Eric,
Please refer your error with the possible reasons below (from SAP notes):
Error message: "Import End; Number of imported assets:0; Number of processed asset:2"
Reason: Note that there is no error. It is usually because of the conflict of Depr. Start Date , Use Life and Remaining Life.
The following is a list of possible errors:
    1. Fixed Asset in Production Mode -- Make sure Fixed Asset is in Transfer mode before importing.
    2. The number of semicolons for each line is not 66 -- For each line, each field must be separated by a semicolon(, the number of separators( should be 66.  Number( = 66.
    3. Wrong Date Format DD-MM-YYYY or MM-DD-YYYY -- The correct date formats should be : YYYYMMDD, YYYY-MM-DD, YYYY.MM.DD or YYYY/MM/DD
    4. Asset Class unavailable -- The asset class in your csv file does not exist in Fixed Assets; make sure the used asset classes are defined in Fixed Assets before importing.
    5. Depr. Type unavailable -- The given depreciation type does not exist in Fixed Assets, make sure the used depreciation type is defined in Fixed Assets before importing.
    6. Depr. Area unavailable -- You entered data for a depreciation area that does not exist. If there are only 2 depreciation areas in Fixed Assets do not enter data for area 3 or 4.
    7. Depr. Area is inactive for asset class  -- You entered data in the csv file for an area that is not active for the given class in Fixed Assets.
    8. Life parameter is negative or the remaining life is greater than planned life -- All life parameters should be positive, the remaining life should be less than the planned life
Life Parameters(Depr. Start Date, Useful Life and Remaining Life) are mathematically incorrect for one of the areas in csv. Remaining life = Useful life - (the difference between the first date of import year and depreciation start date). Note that it is not the difference between import date(the date you import Fixed Asset Master Data) and depreciation start date. You must calculate the remaining life correctly. For example, you want to import an asset in 2005, you import it on 2005-09-01 ,then the first date of the import year is 2005-01-01, Depr. Start Date = 2003-06-01, Useful Life = 60 months, then
          Remaining Life = 60 - (2005-01-01 - 2003-06-01) = 60 - 19 = 41 months.
          The following calculation is wrong:
          Remaining Life = 60 - (2005-09-01 - 2003-06-01) = 60 - 27 = 33 months
Import Fixed Asset for the current fiscal year -- The fixed asset master data import function is designed for legacy data importing. We recommend you to import fixed asset master in the past years. If you insist on importing an asset for the current fiscal year, make sure the depreciation start date is the first date of current fiscal year and the Remaining Life is the same as the Useful Life.
Year Values -- the sum of the accumulated depreciation (planned, unplanned and special depreciation) in the csv file is greater than the acquistion and production costs.
Also, don't forget to change the fixed asset mode to transfer. Administration>System initialization>Company Details> Basic initialization tab.
    Hope this helps.
