Deskjet D2545 message says disconnected but has been in use regularly until today

How do I get the computer (Dell, windows xp) and printer to reconnect?  The printer won't turn on, the message says disconnected from computer.  I have turned off computer, rechecked usb cable connections, checked power supply to printer (it has green light, flashes green light on printer as power first turned on) several times with no success.  It all started when the printer had a paper jam and I turned it off and inadvertently disconnected the usb cable at printer.

Sorry we weren't successful, but we gave it a good try.  I know it is frustrating when machines don't do what they are supposed to do.  It sounds like you are right and the printer is not going to come back to life.
