    Project Description:
Project #1:  Convert test fixture T-228 Visual Basic Version 5 code to National Instruments Lab View code.
Our current problem is that our original Visual Basic 5 test program code only runs on older computer hardware, which is now obsolete and difficult to maintain.  We would like to upgrade our test fixture(s) to current PC hardware and a current platform such as Windows 7.  This will necessitate re-writing or converting all of the test programs (about 15) to test the individual production boards into National Instruments Lab View software.   The project scope would include re-writing the software code and performing preliminary testing with our test system and then a complete formal verification and/or validation of the test code to make sure that it meets our requirements.
Project #2:  Same as Project #1 except for T-208 test fixture.  The number of test programs is less; perhaps 5-8 test programs.
    Candidate Requirements:
This will require a technical person with proven capabilities, skills, and a thorough knowledge of both Visual Basic Version 5 and National Instruments Lab View (current version 2010 or 2011).  It would also be very beneficial if the candidate also has knowledge and experience with National Instruments hardware such as their data acquisition modules and associated drivers and configuration.  Experience with automated test systems and associated components such as multiplexers, data acquisition switches, GPIB, programmable ac and dc power supplies, oscilloscopes, and other test instruments would be very beneficial.
    Additional Requirements:
Bachelors Degree and 3+ years of experience in a similar role.  Must be willing to work contract for a period of up to 1 year.

  • WVC210 with Motion Detection does not stay in the correct position

When I set the camera in a specific position (setting it as Home) and then I enable Motion Detection feature (setting area and sensibility using the home position); if i have set the "Disable Motion Detection while position is incorrect" with "Go to Motion Detection position if idle" option the camera will reset the tilt after the time set has expired.
Is it a known bug (I have not found anything about that here)?
Is there a way to set which is the motion detection position to be held?

    Hi M.Bordoni,
I will pass this onto the wonderful folks at the Small Business Support Center to get their opinion.
Just out of interest, I'm guessing you are utilities built within the camera to send a image somewhere ?
Are you  using the  free Surveillance monitoring application to store captured video on your NAS/PC or server ?

  • How to detect baby crying using labview and webcam?

Hi, I am new to labVIEW. I have a project that it requires me to develope a application to detect various types of  baby crying using labVIEW.The hardware we use will be webcam or kinect xbox 360. The system for my computer is windows 7. I used to try to create a threshold frequency to detect baby crying, but it not work well. So  I want to ask what else method should I use to develop this application that can differentiate baby crying with other kind of sound( like normal talk, music...) correctly? As I just start learning labVIEW, hope the method to be easy to understand. Thanks.

This is not really a LabVIEW question, but a signal processing question. Do you have a set of crying sounds in order to be able to calibrate whatever algorthm you are trying to implement?

  • Peak Detection Algorithm for FPGA LabView

I am in the process of migrating my Labview software of a fiber optic sensor to an FPGA using a single board RIO.  However, my program uses the pre-built Peak Detector VI, which contain some floating point math.  I was wondering if there were any existing peak detection algorithms out there that uses the fixed-point math, required in the operation of the FPGA.  Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

    mdnb2,
Here is a document on our website that talks about Peak Detection Using LabVIEW and Measurement Studio, though it references the VIs that are not available in FPGA, it has interesting information on peak detection in general.
As far as writing your own algorithm, here is how I would start writing one. Basic Steps :
1.) Search the array samples to find the top X number of points and their locations.
2.) Filter out multiple samples on the same peak by removing points close to other points by witdth of Y samples.
3.) Filter out low peaks by comparing the all remaining peaks to each other.

  • How can I detect open applications using LabView 6i

I am using ActiveX to open and write data to an Excell spreadsheet. I open a Template sheet, fill in the new data, then save the spreadsheet under a new name.
I have discovered that if excell is already open when the VI starts, the spread sheet does not get saved under the new name, and the data ends up being saved with my template worksheet.
I need a method of determining if Excell is open and if so close as part of the VI's startup routine.

You can use the "ActiveWindow" method on the "_Application" node to see if it returns a valid refnum or not.
A valid refnum tells you Excel is open, an invalid says it's not.
    Sample attached.

Using the Abort button to stop your VI is like using a tree to stop your car. It works, but there may be consequences.

    Thanks for your answer.
Make your idea is quite similar to the way I have done. After thoroughly study I have a better understanding of the Hilbert transform and taking the signal envelope.
This is a project completed repair. However, the envelope does not seem to be beautiful.
Hope everyone has comments for issues in order to I can handle more perfect for your project.
    Again thanks for comments.
