PLEASE walk me through correct settings for lightroom 4 printing?
Im working from Mac OS X Yosemite and my new printer is Canon MG7520. I can't get a photo to look good for the life of me please help with a step by step instructions?? THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Amateur photographer. need color management help on how to either turn off lightroom or printer to manage the color. I've read a ton of web content but still having issues.
On that printer, I do not believe there are any icc profile, so let the printer manage the color.
Be sure when viewing your photos on the screen to turn your monitor down to 25% brightness to edit your photos esp for printing
Also it is easiest to match printer brand and printer paper brand

Can you please walk me through?
Hi.
Can you please walk me through the set-up recording my 3 part composition? I am going to use a different instrument for each part (track). First I record and pan track 1 (first part) to the left, 2nd track (2nd part left in the middle), third track (3rd part) panned to the right in stereo.So when its done it sounds as if 3 musicians are playing one on the left, one in the middle and on on the right. Thank you so much for all your help.
W.W.I have Trumpet Cornet and Trombone. Trombone in the middle, Trumpet on right and Cornet on the left. Am I correct they all are placed center when recorded one at a time and paned into position after?
When recorded them I was not able to pan any part. I also tryed to record each in mono after doing it in stereo before. Either way paning was not possible on any of my instrument parts. I need a stepp by stepp set-up of Garage Band 09 and my FireStudio Project interface. Thank you for your help.

Correct settings for HDV capture
Hi. I'm using Premiere CS5.5. I went on a few forums to get the correct settings for HDV capture.
I can record the footage fine. However I saw a few things which didn't seem right.
After capturing the HDV footage, the file was a .mpeg file. Secondly, the clip was 1 hour and 10 minutes and
it was only 11.3 GB. Does this sound right? A 55 minute .avi file is 11.6GB. I thought a HDV clip would be quite a large size file.
If this dosen't sound right, is there somewhere I could go to, to check that my settings are correct? By the way I'm filming and capturing with a Canon XHA1.
The footage is 1080i. HDV. I've exported it and it looks fine. Just want to make sure I've captured it correctly and to the best quality.
Thanks for your help.The HDV format was advanced by Sony and others to use the same miniDV tapes used for SD. In fact, your Canon XHAI can record and play either without changing the tape transport speed.
Your observation in relative file sizes is due to the fact that HDV is highly compressed (MPEG), whereas, SD (AVI) is not as highly compressed. This is one of the reasons folks (such as Harm) don't consider HDV to be an edit format, but just a delivery format.
Note that what Harm was saying is symantics--you capture an analog source through a capture card that digitizes it. When you transfer a image file from HDV or SD, it is already digitized, so a bit-to-bit transfer occurs. -
What are the correct settings for the Canon 5D mark II in FCP 7 ?
I am shooting full HD at 23s97 fps.. tried making a preset for the Canon but when I import fils FCP always wants to change to appropriate settings for this file type but doesn't tell me what that is...
(latest firmware installed)
Please, can someone provide all the correct settings for me?
And also, why doesn't the camera show up on the desktop/in the menus when attached to the mac? I have ro use EOS utility every time I want to get anything off of the camera... and FCP doesn't see it either. That's just not right - FCP MUST recognise my camera!! : (
Please help - I don't want to start editing until I have the right settings for this footage.
Thanks
JimWelcome to the Boards
Not sure what you mean with the following, looks like a word dropped?
I have ro use EOS utility every time I want to get anything off of the camera...
Anyway, some more specs on your system could help point where the issue is. With the new Plug-In by Canon you can Log & Transfer from the Flash Card (not sure how you connected the camera.) Alternatively you could just drag the files in (but make sure to keep all files such as THM in case you use Log and Transfer later.)
Generally it is best to transcode to Pro Res to be able to work with the files in Final Cut. (Log & Transfer should do that, or using Compressor/Mpeg Streamclip.)
It (Final Cut) is probably changing the timeline to match the codec, or depending on your last preset used, just switching things around. In other words if you were editing in DV and had a set up for that, new sequences would default to that and if you try to ad anything else you will get the message.
Take a look at the search over there -> to look for the Canon 5D threads for some more info.
What I would do is just pull one of the clips in to start and look at what the sequence settings are aftr Final Cut changes them for you - they should be fine generally, though you will want to change Codecs to Pro Res.
I like just batch conversion of all my clips from the 5D Markk II and then work from there. (I do not hook up the camera to the computer, just use a card reader.) -
Can somebody please walk me through the process of settin...
Can somebody please walk me through the process of setting timers? I have a wrt54g router that I have 3 computers on. My computer (the brain) always need connection. The other two need to be limited so that my kids can't access them from 12:00 midnight to 7:00 am. I thought I did it right, but apparently I didn't because I was able to use my kidlets computers after midnight last night. I have it set at: Policy Name: No Access List of PC's: I entered the MAC Addresses and the IP Address for both computers that need restrictions; I didn't change the ranges though (was I supposed to?) Deny Sunday through Thursday 12:05 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. I have no idea of I did this right, but obviously I missed something since I was still able to get online..... Please advise, Thanks!
If I was your child, the first thing I would do is wirelessly connect to your neighbor's unsecured wireless router at 12:06 a.m. If I didn't have a wireless adapter, I would borrow a USB wireless adapter from a friend. Alternatively, I would fake a new MAC address or change the IP address in my computer. Tricks like these are commonly known by grade school and high school kids.
I am not trying to be funny, but I am trying to make a point. Trying to control your children's Internet access with your router is often a worthless exercise. Instead, I usually recommend that you use parental control software that is installed on the kid's computers. "Safe Eyes 5.0" recently won an Editor's Choice award from PC magazine.
Hope this helps. -
In the iPhone, please explain the requirements in settings for Apple id, iPhone and iCloud
You can use 1 unified Apple ID for iTunes so you don't have to repurchase apps. That part is fine.
For iCLoud/iMessage/Facetime you should each have a unique ID so the 2 phones will be separate and you won't accidentally erase each other's content and overwrite settings, nor will you get the others messaages by mistake. -
Which are the correct settings for gmail in MacBookPro
I want to use mac mail to access my gmail. Can I ? instead of going directly to web to access my gmail.? Which are the correct settings for the incoming and outgoing servers ?
Hi,
Yes. You can absolutely access your Gmail account from within either Mail or Microsoft Outlook for Mac. Make sure, that you have enabled POP/IMAP in your Gmail settings, then follow the instructions here: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=180188 if you wish to access your account via POP3 instead of IMAP, change the incoming mail server to pop.gmail.com

Hi
I wish to know which are the correct settings for making a new project in imovie and then what to do for getting the best quality on DVD. (I use still pictures and video clips with music, transitions and effects)
Thank you so much.ola
the correct format depends on the format your camera (PAL or NTSC - 4:3 or 16:9) meaning the project format should meet the camera format. pleas note that that format changes in iMovie/iDVD are effective only for new projects and cannot change existing ones. the dvd quality settings depend on the length of your movie and can be set in iDVD under preferences.
my movies are never longer than 30 min. so i set it to faster encoding and check background encoding ... i also tried with best quality once but frankly i can't see the difference

i have all the correct settings for my e mail but i can't send for some reason it keeps taking my outgoing server offline can anyone help
If you can receive mail and your connection to your ISP is otherwise working, but cannot send mail, then your SMTP settings are incorrect; the SMTP server port is wrong, your SSL setting is wrong, or the username or password credentials don't match what the ISP has, or your attempted accesses are being blocked or your ISP SMTP server is offline.
And in general, don't use port 25 for your outbound mail, unless your ISP specifically requires that; these days, that port is best left to communications between mail servers and (usually) not used by any mail clients. -

Ptinter Settings? Lightroom prints are TERRIBLE
Hi!
I would greatly appreciate some suggestions on what I can do to resolve this problem.
I am trying out Lightroom because I am really interested in its features. However, one of the things I am running into problems with is with printing pictures. They all come out washed out, dark. I've tried several of the settings in Lightroom as well as in my printer driver (Canon MP760) and nothing seems to work. (And I've wasted a lot of ink and photo paper!)
On the other hand, other picture tools like Google's Picasa do a superb job with the printouts... and I did not have to fiddle with the printer settings at all.
I am telling Lightroom to let the printer manage color (the default setting) and in the printer driver I am using the exact same settings that I use with Picasa. It seems that Lightroom is messing around with the pictures before passing them along to the printer.
Thanks!Same problem for me with a Canon Pixma IP5000 printer and Lightroom-- and for me, it wasn't just Lightroom prints-- I had the same issue as you if I used website photo printing firms-- but I was able to resolve it and get a reasonably good match of Lightroom print to monitor view. (Don't expect perfection here with the average consumer-level monitor. You'll make yourself crazy. But you can come pretty darn close.) Here's how I did it:
First, explicitly Remove any existing color calibration settings other than the one for your monitor in Windows. You may think you don't have one, but check. I'd forgotten until I checked that I had installed one for use with Paint Shop Pro photo software; it was messing me up. You remove color calibration profiles by right-clicking a blank area of your desktop, choosing Properties>Advanced>Color Management, highlighting any color profile other than the one for your monitor, and Removing it.
Then get and use a Color Vision Spyder 2 express monitor calibrator. I thought, Ah, that's silly, I can calibrate my monitor close enough for jazz using website calibration screens, but these gadgets do much better than I could at free websites and are well worth the money considering what Lightroom and other photo software AND throwaway prints cost. These calibrators are priced well under $100 shipped at websites such as amazon or newegg. I have a Sony SDM-HS95P LCD monitor, and I can't just go with the Spyder2 calibrator settings... I have to make an additional minor adjustment on my monitor of Brightness from the Sony default 50 to 10, and from Color Temperature to User Adjust>Red>101 instead of default 128, after calibrating. YMMV, of course, depending on your monitor, but the point is, you may still need to experiment and adjust a tad after calibrating to find a good match of monitor to print. Still, using a monitor calibration device helped me A LOT and I highly recommend biting the bullet and trying one, given your issue. Of course, you want to use Spyder2's color management profile as your default, that loads at bootup.
OK, on to Lightroom settings for your printer. Remember, I have a different Canon printer than you have, so again, YMMV, and you may need to make some adjustments here to what works for me, but it should still give you a good lead on how to proceed with your Canon printer. Canon printers do seem to need some custom settings compared to other brands for success in printing within Lightroom. What follows is copied from notes I keep in a .doc file on my PC for making 4x6 prints with Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy in Lightroom.
To enable borderless printing of 4x6 images, first click Page Setup on the Printer module of Lightroom to enter printer settings, and then Properties>Page Setup and check Borderless Printing. If you don't do this first before trying to set up Lightroom, Lightroom won't let you set Margins to 0.00 or do borderless printing.
Set Lightroom: Print>Print Resolution 240 dpi for 4x6, Print Sharpening>High, Color Management Profile NOT Managed by Printer, but by Canon iP5000 SP2 (SP is for Photo Paper Plus and 2 is for Quality Fine {setbelow-- to 2, to match this setting here}; if you click Other and select MP instead, that's for Matte Paper, and if you select one of the PRs, that's for Photo Paper Pro). These profiles, incidentally, get installed by the Canon Printer Driver. Rendering Intent in Lightroom should be set to Relative, not Perceptual; Relative is a better color and gamma match to monitor.
Press in Lightroom: Page Setup, Print Settings, or Print (it doesn't matter) to set Canon printer Setup as follows: Size 4x6, orientation Portrait (even for a landscape image), Source to Paper Feed Switch. Click Properties and set Main>Media Type>Photo Paper Glossy, Print Quality>Custom>Set>Quality>High>2 (this number matches the number corresponding to the paper profile you selected in Lightroom's Color Management Profile) and turn on Diffusion. OK. Color Adjustment>Manual>Intensity 17 (makes prints slightly darker to match what you see on monitor. For some prints, you have to adjust the Color Balance numbers. These changes are best made from Page Setup in Lightroom, not Print>Properties; doing it the latter way, changes often don't take, i.e., the program seems to save the changes but goes ahead and prints it unchanged(!) and restores the previous settings as if you hadn't changed them(!!). Contrary to what you might expect, do NOT turn on ICM in Manual. ICM here definitely messes things up on my Canon printer. Page Setup tab: check Borderless Printing. Move the Amount of Extension slider to second position from far left (despite Canon's recommendation; otherwise, it cuts off too much of the image-- as it is, second position from far left cuts a small amount, but far left position leaves a tiny white border in prints). Effects tab: uncheck everything, including Vivid.
More info I drew on to connect all this together is found in
http://www.steves-digicams.com/techcorner/June_2005.html
Info on Canon's paper profiles and matching monitor to printer on Canon's website, unfortunately, was unclear and inadequate for me, anyway, and judging by Adobe forums, for others as well.
Now back in Lightroom's Printer Module... On right, under Image Settings, check options: Auto Rotate to Fit, and Repeat One Photo Per Page (assuming you're printing images and not contact sheets.) (Be careful about Zoom to Fill Frame-- it cuts off a small part of the sides.) Set Margins to 0.00 and Cell size to 6.00 and 4.00; if you can't hit these settings, go back to Page Setup and recheck Borderless Printing. Scroll down on the right and set Print Job/Print Resolution to 320 dpi...
Press the key on the Pixma to pull photo paper from the top and insert photo paper glossy side up the long way.
The first time I tried printing, it wanted to print every print in the filmstrip. Look in the bottom left to see how many photos it thinks are selected. If it's all, and you want just the one image selected, don't proceed, or it will print the first image in the filmstrip. One workaround, I found, is to put the photo(s) I want printed in Quick Collection, and then I can print one, or a few.
Once you click Print, it will take awhile to set up before printing actually starts. Look in the upper left of Lightroom you can monitor the printing prep process (remember, it's converting RAW files to printable format, often, so this can be slow). -

SAP on Ubuntu Correct settings for etc/hosts?
Hi,
I installed the SAP test drive version on Ubuntu (VirtualBox). After starting the SAP GUI (
/home/minisap/SAPClients/SAPGUI7.20rev5/bin/guistart /H/ubuntu64/S/3242
) I get the following error:
Error: partner 'ubuntu64:3242' not reached

rc = -10, module nixxi.cpp, line 3286
Detail NiPConnect2: 127.0.0.1:3242
System Call connect
Error No 111
'Connection refused'
I guess that the settings of the file etc/hosts are not correct. After the installation of ubuntu the file contains
10.0.2.15 ubuntu64 # Added by NetworkManager
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
::1 ubuntu64 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6
127.0.1.1 ubuntu64

fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ff02::3 ip6-allhosts
According to the test drive readme file I have to ensure that etc/hosts contain at least the following lines:
127.0.0.1 localhost
n.n.n.n <HOSTNAME>.<DOMAINNAME> <HOSTNAME>
n.n.n.n nplhost
where "n.n.n.n" is a valid IP-adress.
I tried different settings but the above mentioned error still occurs... Does anyone know the correct settings of etc/hosts or know what the problem could be?

Correct settings for wireless broadband service
Ok, Im about to lose my mind over trying to get my wireless broadband connection working correctly.
I had the wireless broadband antenna installed on my garage. I mounted AEBS in my garage and connected it to the cable from the wireless broadband antenna. I can access the internet with no problems, but I have questions about the proper settings. (Im having printing issues that I didnt have with my phone line connected to the AEBS and I just want to start from scratch and try to understand how this should all be connected.)
Here are my questions:
1) What settings should I be using on the AEBS for wireless broadband and which port on the AEBS should be used?
2) Why is it that when I look at the status indicators in the Network settings control panel, it only will show yellow and never green?
3) I have a second AEBS in the house, what is the best method to connect that one to the one in the garage?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. After I make sure this equipment is working OK, then Ill tackle the printing issue.Thanks for the response
1) I had to turn off DHCP on the AEBS in order for it to work. They supply an IP address. (If you cant tell, I dont know a lot about what Im talking about )
2) I now have two AEBS and an Airport Express. I purchased another AEBS this weekend trying to solve the printer problem. I think your comment is related to my green status light that I mentioned. Actually what I was referring to is if you look at the system preferences in on the Mac and show the Network Status, it shows a red dot for anything that is not working and when Im at work connected to the network, it shows a green dot if everything is working ok. At home with the Wireless Broadband, I get a yellow dot which is kind of telling me that the connection is somewhat working.
3) I currently have the two AEBS connected by using WDS and I dont plan to connect the AE until I make sure everything is working correctly and I can print again.
I assume I should be using the WAN port on the AEBS to connect the broadband. Im not sure why I cant use DHCP.
Thanks again -
