Determining Firmware

I have just installed the latest patch and afterwards I am supposed to check the firmware rev. Well according to the instructions you are supposed to enter the following command:
# /usr/sbin/ssaadm display [enter in the controller]
Well I have tried every possible command scenario with regards to naming the logical controller and using the path and I still cannot get the information. It either says Invalid path name, or cannot open /devices/../../pci@1f,4000 etc.
I cannot find much help on the Sunsolve site so if you know how to do this I would greatly appreciate your help. I am still sort of new to Sun and I am not fluent with it at all.
Thank you

Follow up:
It should be the argument you used when you upgraded the firmware:
# /usr/sbin/ssaadm download -f /usr/lib/firmware/ssa/ssafirmware <controller>

  • How to determine firmware version of brick?

Is it possible to determine the firmware version that the logic board has installed? I might be wrong about how the firmware operates, but the word 'firmware' to me usually implies flashing the BIOS. I know what version of 'firmware' the OS portion of the HDD has installed, but I'm not sure that it matches the BIOS and I'm still hoping I can revive the unit without repartitioning, etc. Background - I made the boneheaded mistake of trying to run sudo apt-get install -f <whatever> and was left with an SSH session where only bash built-ins would even run. No `ls`, no `cat`, no `sudo`. I tried to revive the system as best I could while the SSH session was still open using the errors reported and using this guide to abuse shell built-ins to recover a system in this state. But I ran out of time and had to close the connection (on a laptop). After this the system would power up but stay at white light LED indefinitely. So I popped the HDD into a spare linux machine and confirmed the drive looks fine - all data there and the OS RAID partitions were easily browsable. So I reimaged the OS RAID partition with rootfs.img from several different firmware versions (I really don't know whch one I was running as I've updated a few times but not sure when last), but still no luck. Am I wrong in assuming there's a BIOS update as well when we talk about 'firmware'? Am I missing some steps after reimaging the OS partition? Any help would be very appreciated.

I ended up soldering leads on the main board and captured the boot log. I managed to find only one other boot log to compare to (here) but comapring the two hasn't given me much insight. On the surface it seems like my issue is that the AHCI SATA loader is trying and failing to get port 0 to respond. I've posted the full boot log here, but I'll post the last bit here in hopes that someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks. Hit any key to stop autoboot: 0

  • ARBS: how do I determine firmware version?

I have an AEBS with software version 5.6. How do I identify what firmware it is using? I am curious as to whether it is up to date and also curious as to what the most current firmware version is.

5.6 is the most recent firmware version - it was supplied with the Airport 4.2 update.
The firmware version your Base Station is running is reported by the Airport Admin Utility. From the View menu select Summary.

  • E1200 V2 upgraded to OS 10.8.2, Cisco Connect unsupported OS, also update firmware?

I purchased myu E1200 Jan 2012. Have been intermittent loss of connection & not sure whether it is old cable modem or router or? ISP came out & checked & changed some cable fittings said looked ok, but could be my old modem. (I'm getting ready to move out of area so don't want to buy a new modem now). But also a lot of my neighbors w Cox report intermittent loss of connection.
I will get messages saying I'm not connected to internet. Usually if i go up & turn off wireless & then turn it back on, it will search & find my router.  Frequently though I notice that when I check it has switched to my guest rather than primary for some reason.
I was having some of this before I even went to wifi a yr ago.
Just upgraded to Mountain Lion a couple weeks ago or so. Last night computer had a panic. I received advice to make sure all software as well as router firmware up to date. Found & updated MacBookPro Firmware update. Backed up.
Opened CiscoConnect & got message unsupported Operating System.
Reading about upgrading firmware, saw warnings about doing it hard wired or it could permanently damage router. Because of the intermittent connectivity problems & the warning, I think I would be safest to do this  manually by downloading it 1st & then updating the firmware from the download.
I see that instructions say to determine Firmware version. & it also says it will ask for router IP address. I'm guessing all that was in Cisco Connect. I know it has my passwords, but now I can't get to it. It also says I can use the web set up page to get the current firmware version. For updates (but it says for pc) it shows 8/2011 & 8/2012. Since mine was purchased in 1/2012 & unless it self updated, I'm guessing it is running the 8/2011 firmware. But just noticed in the User Guide it says that when I run Cisco Connect it checks for updates & installs them.  But that's kind of interesting w all the warnings about running it w a wired connection to make sure no interruptions.  Not sure how I have it set up, but I usually set software updates to prompt me so I can control when they actually run.
Once I have gotten that, will I be able to manually download the appropriate firmware version? Or if I click on that, will that start a set up or update process?
If I download Cisco Connect, will it update the already installed version, keeping all my existing info?  & then will that be compatible w Mountain Lion & then show me whether the firmware needs to be updated?
    Kathi

But anyway, I can't even open the old version!!! I just get a message about unsupported OS! So kind of hard to uninstall if I can't open it.
& for some reason when I was installing Mountain Lion, upgrading from Snow Leopard it found an old version of Parallels which I knew was not compatible.  Didn't even think about this.
Its sort of working but something is not working very well. I sure wish I hadn't listened to those who said to save the $ & not get the Apple Airport Express. Their stuff works & its not hard to set up like this!
    This is SO LAME!!!
& Where is lists the info, I have so far found NO INFO about updating. I usually have my software set to notify me so I control when it updates. & I think the last times I was in Cisco Connect it was under pressure just trying to get the router working again.
Right now I feel like throwing it at something.
Well, I have twice tried to download from the list for my model & when I click on the set up icon I get a message that "Setup" is damaged and can't be opened. You shold eject the disk image." But when I click for more info it says:
The app has been modified or damaged
The app’s code does not match the original code that was signed. The app has been modfied, or it may be broken or corrupted or have been tampered with. If you feel that an app has been damaged or tampered with, you should delete it by dragging it to the Trash.

  • Help with my Bran-New Creative Zen Micro Photo. [Questi

<EM>If you don't want to see the backing of my whole story skip to the bold print at the bottom!</EM>I also want you to know I read the FAQs and searched through some topics like this, but haven't found any asking my question.First of all, I'm new to the forum, but I've been researching Creative's Zen for a long time now. I kept observing each one closely before I purchased a product. I then saw the Zen Micro Photo come out. This one won my attention. I loved this, I quickly searched for reviews and went for the buy for Christmas. I told my dad about it and he was "iffy" on the price, but it was better then the iPod in my opinion.Christmas day came and I opened it. Right away I checked everything out I knew a lot about the menu already and all, but not really how to control it. I checked to make sure everything worked. All systems were go. After listening to the defaults (which I loved) I went to go install the software. I already had Media Player 0 and Adobe, oh and I didn't want the freakin AOL toolbar! Lol, so I installed everything else. It took forever, but I hooked it up and I installed the drivers, but as soon as I plug in the USB connector I see: "A HIGH-SPEED USB device has been plugged into a LOW SPEED USB port. After that, I switched USB ports, btu I got same message. I hit the X and then tried to charge. I got the Lightening Bolt, but no dimming of lights. I found out that this computer is not letting me install any service packs, I'm confused about that.My question:Is there anyway I can charge this mp3 player and download music onto my Zen Micro Photo without Service Pack ? Or did I just pay $250 for a really cool glowing mp3 player to be used as a paperweight? (I love this Zen and I ran the battery dead hoping that would make the charging easier).Help?
    My Specifications:
My Mp3 Player: Zen Micro Photo (Black)What I tried: Switching USB ports and re-installing Service Pack Software: Not sure how to determine firmware without installing something. I'm on a XP Professional and I'm using the Creative Media Source and Creative Media Toolbox

Thank you DM for responding. I am expecting problems, but it still won't allow me to charge the Zen Micro Photo or even use the Creative Media Source. I can't upload any songs or any contacts on it. I haven't uploaded anything yet, but it's not reading the USB device. When I run Creative Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer I get this message at the top of the screen: "The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer. I can't organize anything or add songs... so it just makes all the programs I downloaded useless and my Creative product unusuable.ONe thing it does do though... whenever I plug in my Zen MIcroPhoto to the USB it turns it on and glows, but only shows my battery at the top with one red line and the green lightening bolt filling the battery up.After leaving it like this for two hours the green moves, but the red bar stays the same size.

  • Can I change the ftp password of fp2000?

a ftp server is already built-in the fp2000,
and the user name and password is 'none' by
default. So, how can I change the user name
and the password of the fp2000?

    Steven,
If you go into FieldPoint Explorer, right click on a comm resource (assuming that it is ethernet) and choose Edit This Comm Resource and then click on the browse button, it launches a utilty called Remote System Explorer. In the Remote System Explorer window, you see the list of all ethernet FieldPoint devices. For any devices that support security (FP-1600 modules that have firmware 411 or later and all FP-20XX modules), you will be able to select the device, right click on choose Lock/Unlock Device. The password configured with this step also carries over into the FTP server, serving to restrict write permissions. However, because FTP is used for certain software abilities (determining firmware revision), read permissions are always enabled and can n
    ot be disabled.

  • Nokia asha authority certificates..

All the certificates in my asha 501 got deleted except( the three )so i downloaded the software recovery tool , but it says 'update package not found' .it has asha software 14.0 installed in it

In the Nokia Software Recovery Tool, what is your 7-letter code (Nokia Product Code)? That code identifies your firmware variant which determines firmware packages. We can check together, only with that code.

  • That Old iMac Problem

There's a definate pattern emerging with my iMac. After a few years, it won't go to sleep. Then it starts to act strangely. Then, the hard drive seems to format itself, and I get the question mark. NOT GOOD!
After I had upgraded to OS X, I hoped that it would stop this cycle. But alas, it has been refusing to eject CDs. And just now, I put it to sleep, and went off. I was in a nearby room, and I heard Adium quack. So it's happening again.
At least this time I will have backed up all my important files. But this will be the THIRD time it's happened (and it will happen- I'm sure many other users can confirm that). The first time, we had to get a new hard drive, the second time I was really clever and started it up from the CD, reformating the disk.
So, I want to know- how can I stop it from happening? Is it at all possible? It's not the hard drive, it's not a funky RAM card. So I think the mother board or the firmware is messed up. But I'm just guessing.

Here's a link about how to determine firmware:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=971813&#971813
Since you said you have an "iMac 5 Flavors," I am assuming that your processor speed is 333MHz, making your computer one of the original iMacs. I don't know how you got the system to install; with your iMac the system needs to be installed on a partition within the first 8GB of the hard drive, so with formatting that means that one of the partitions needs to be 7.5GB maximum. That is the only partition on which you can install the system. However, I don't know how your computer allowed you to install the system, because it should have told you that it couldn't install the system on that HD because you can't start up your computer from that HD.

  • WRVS4400N - Version Number

I am unable to find the version number (to determine firmware upgrade) on a WRVS4400N router.  Usually it is on the bottom of the device after the model number; but on this device there is only the model number.  Based on firmware available, it appears my version choices are - 1.0, 1.1, or 2.0 - can I assume that the version is 1.0 since nothing is listed, or is there another way to determine it?
Thanks for any help in advance!
    Randal

    Clayton,
Thank you for your prompted answer.  The main location (called Franklin) has a firmware x1 version as do the other 2 locations.  These locations have been up and running for several years with no issues at all.  The problem only started when we added the 4th fourth location with the firmware x2 version.  When the new location profile was enabled, the main location's VPN tunnels from the other existing locations went into Tunnel DOWN status and only the new location status was Tunnel UP.  When I disabled the new location and brought their tunnel status down, the other locations went back online and remained Tunnel UP.
All profiles, protocols and keys are the same.  The only difference was the firmware.  They have both Cable and DSL at each location if one ISP provider fails as a redundant system.
Been scratching my head on this one for over a week.  That is why I was thinking firmware.  Bandwidth at the main location is a 5MB UP stream and a 100MB DOWN stream.
Any help or other suggests is greatly appreciated.
    Jon

  • How do I determine current firmware version for WRT54G

I've been poking around the site a bit, and note that there are mandatory upgrades to various firmware versions. I'd like to upgrade if necessary, but have no idea how to determine what firmware version I have right now.Message Edited by shelmart on 12-17-200605:36 AM

What is the excact hardware version # of your router? U can find that underneath the router itself, there's a sticker there & its just right below the Linksys Logo. If its version 5 or 6, u can go to this website: www.linksys.com/connect . Download  & save Easylink Firmware Tool & then before u run that file after saving, disable first all your internet security like firewalls & anti- virus coz it will block the connection of this software from running properly. That EFL will automatically upgrade the firmware of your router.

  • How do I determine the firmware I have installed on my Zen V Pl

I need to know my Zen V Plus firmware prior to usig the Travel Sound.
I have searched - but cannot figure out how to determine this.
I did just purchase the Zen V Plus from Creative, it is a rebuilt item, if that hel
    ps.
    Thanks for your assistance.

Rebuilt or Refurbished has nothing to do with finding your firmware version.
    Turn on your player.
Start on "Menu". Go to the bottom of the list to "System". Push in the button and then push in the button to "Information". The second listing will say "Version". That is the number of the firmware version.
When you are finished with this exercise, go to the top of the page under Support/Downloads/ Tutorials/ and Product Documentation, spend some time and learn how to operate your player. Also read your instruction booklet. All the information is there!? You need also to read all the "stickies" at the top of this column. A wealth of information is there also.
Remember the SEARCH box at the top left is your friend.

  • How do you determine if you need a firmware upd

I'm an iMac newbie, so if this is a stupid question please forgive me.
I need to find out which version of firmware I currently have and what version is current.
I have found the Apple web site where they can be downloaded, but these sites do not tell you how to determine if you need it or not. At least I couldn't find it if they did.
How do I make these determinations?
iMac Intel 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   The absolute best computer I have ever owned!

    Jon,
System firmware updates have been very rare, and have never been distributed by Apple through Software Update. The reason is that they have always required special handling, not simply a matter of download and restart.
Firmware updates are not software, but are irreversible changes made to the logic board or some other operating unit. They must be downloaded to the intended computer first, then all applications, etc. disconnected, then the installation proceeds according to specific instructions for each particular firmware update.
The SMC (System Management Controller) Firmware Update for Intel Macs is different from a system firmware update and is capable of being handled the same as any typical software update, therefore it was included within Software Update and most of us downloaded and installed it without giving it any special attention. I'm guessing that the newest iMacs that are sold with OS X version 10.4.7 installed already have the updated SMC firmware which is an older update than 10.4.7, but my assumption may be mistaken.
It very well may be that your PowerMac never have had a firmware update issued for it, as the majority of PowerMacs have never had one issued, as can be seen in this listing:
