Development evnoronment Vs Deployment environment

What is the difference between Development environment and Deployment environment?

Definitions of Development Environment on the Web:
* The DE is used by a designer/builder. A development environment typically includes software for creating and maintaining a knowledge base and software for the inference engine.
* An integrated development environment (IDE) (also known as an integrated design environment and integrated debugging environment) is computer software to help computer programmers develop software.
Definitions of Deployment Environment on the Web:
* The environment in which a Nevow application is deployed. Generally involves an HTTP server which is configured to route certain (or all) HTTP requests through the Nevow Object Traversal and Page Rendering process. Deployment environments include CGI, WSGI, and twisted.web.

  • Multi developer/workspace projects & deployment

    hi im a beginner
I would like to read up about how multiple developers can work on projects involving the same apex application and how they can create a releasable build at the end of the development phase for testing.
at the moment what I dont understand is...
    1) can 3 developers work on their own personal workspace to work on the same 60 page application?... do we create one workspace called "development-project-a" with different usernames and build on the single application? ..
1a) if we can work on our personal workspaces  how do we merge the application to create a build for test?
    2) when the build is complete and deployed to another environment; how can subsequent bug fixes be deployed from development to the test environment (partial or full builds?)
im sure there is a guide somewhere but i cant find one
    matt

Simple answer.. You have multiple developers working in ONE workspace on ONE applications.  You work on separate pages, locking those pages if required so no one ELSE can modify them.
Nightly you would export a copy of the application to a version control product just in case someone makes a change and it causes damage..
When you are ready to release a product, you export your application and any needed database objects to you test environment and then production.  It is NOT advised to try exporting pages when doing changes, it is a better option to export an app in its entirety..

  • How to port database changes from development to a production environment

How do I port database changes from the development to the production environment?
I am using v8 and have always had to redo everything using the schema manager all over in the production environment. Is there an easy way to generate a script, for example to dump the database changes on the development machine to be executed later on the production machine?

This should already be a clearly defined change control process. Once a procedure, function, package, trigger, or whatever completes the testing rounds, it should be promoted to production.
Forgive me if it seems I'm trivializing, but I don't see the problem, just copy the object(s) from your software library (or development) into production using whatever tool works best or has been chosen. If you are doing data copies then you have various options again including good old export/import.

  • Lync Server Mirror using SQL 2012 Developer Edition in Test Environment

I'm setting up a Lync Enterprise Frontend Pool in a Dev/Test environment using two SQL 2012 SP2 Developer Edition Servers. When I try and publish the topology and create the databases I am getting this error.
    System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'System.String Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.ExceptionTemplatesImpl.BackupToUrlNotSupported
I have not been able to find any info on this error but it would appear the it has something to do with the fact these servers are developer edition. I was under the impression that developer edition included all features of the enterprise edition. Is that
not true? Has anyone else seen this error when it attempts to create the mirror?
    Thanks

    Hi Dave,
Please refer to the official document, SQL 2012 SP2 Developer Edition is not listed in it.

  • Headstart 6.5 Deployment environment - Sun Solaris Intel

Is it possible to deploy the headstart runtime environment to UNIX Sun Solaris Intel?
I am trying to make the 'hsdcgi65' file for Sun Solaris Intel without success. The make file is for solaris (SPARC).
Modifying the make file does not do any good and while compiling, I am getting the error "hsdcgi65.o wrong machine type".

    Louis,
Your best bet is to just make a static HTML launch document for your application rather than using the cgi launch
environment. You can create a static launch document by using the generic Application Launchform on your
(windows) development platform to launch your application start form. Right-click on the browser window and
select View Source. Copy and paste this code to make a static HTML launch document.

  • VDI - RemoteApp does not start in "Virtual machine-based desktop deployment" environment

    Hello dear community,
I would like to familiarize myself to the subject of desktop virtualization and have built up a test environment for this purpose. Most went smoothly, but now I'm trying for days to figure out, why the deployed RemoteApp programs in my test environment not
start. Unfortunately posts here and in other blogs were not helpful. I hope you can point me to the right direction. :)
    My environment
    Server 1
Windows Server 2012 R2 Std with the roles
        AD DS,
        DNS,
        DHCP
    Server 2
Windows Server 2012 R2 Std with the roles
        Hyper-V,
Remote Desktop Services (Connection Broker, Virtualization Host, Web Access),
        IIS
    VMs
    Windows 8.1
    RD Client 1
Laptop with Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9, Firefox 28, RemoteApp and Desktop Connections
    RD client 2
iPad with Microsoft Remote Desktop App
    Setting up the environment
The installation of the environment I made as mentioned in the following blog post. http://blog.itvce.com/?p=1569 But with only two physical servers.
    What does work?
Prepared with SysPrep and "cloned" Windows 8.1 VMs created in the collections of virtual desktops are accessible via WebAccess (RDWeb) using IE, FF, Windows Start menu and also from the iPad as a complete desktop for authorized users/groups. The VMs
wake up in Hyper- V from the saved state and roll back to it after the user logs off. So far so good.
    What does not work?
Now to what does not work. One collection of virtual desktops I have reserved for the publication of RemoteApp programs. So this new collection - like the above - was created. The VMs were built and successfully registered in AD. Then I used "publish RemoteApp
Programs" wizard in the collection. The available programs were successfully read from the VM. WordPad, Calc and Paint I used for the test. The programs/apps will then appear in RDWeb.
In RDWeb I now click on the Calculator, the warning described in many blogs appears that resources are passed through and then that the certificate could not be verified. Although I have already added the certificate to the trusted root CA in the user and the
computer area, I acknowledge that I would like to connect despite the certificate error with "Yes".
After about 20 seconds the "Connect to ..." window disappears and that it was. In Hyper-V Manager the corresponding VM does not move even if it's running. If the VM was not running and in saved state, it is at least started. But the Calculator will
    still not start.
Can anyone give me a proper hint what to do, which Bing, Google and Technet did not have?
    Thank you in advance!
    Kay
PS: Since I am from Germany, I have asked the question first in the German forum. Unfortunately, without success.

    Hi Kay,
    Thank you for contacting Microsoft.
From your description, I learnt that the issue you are experiencing is that you want to eliminate the certificate warning when launching the Remote App applications. Please let me know if I misunderstand your purpose.
Firstly, please let me know what certificate you are using. Then please export and import the certificate on the RDSH server. We need to manage the certificates. Please refer to
    the steps below.
    1. Open the Collections which you want to manage, click
    Edit Deployment Properties.
    2. On the Certificates page, select
    Select existing certificate.
    3. When the
Select Existing Certificate page appear, please select Choose a different certificate, locate to the right exported certificate path, and type the correct password, and
select Allow the certificate to be added to the Trusted Root Certification Authorities certificate store on the destination computers.
    4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to finish the certificate configuration, here we can use the same certificate.
If anything unclear, please feel free to let me know.
    Best regards,

  • SSDT-BI: How to add and deploy environment settings

Currently I deploy my SSIS projects via the wizard to several sql servers, on which I have to add and configure individually the environment and map it to the project parameter.
Am I right in that it is not possible to manage the environment definitions within the SSIS project and to deploy them together with the project to a target server, specifying via a deployment profile/wizard which environments shall be deployed?
If yes -> I vote for adding this feature. It would help me to keep (source controlled) track of environment definitions for Test/Prod environments. Additionally, deployment to further server instances would be much smoother.
If no -> Please give me a hint how I can get to that point.
    Thanks a lot!

In SSIS 2012 if you use project deployment model you can do this programmatically.

  • SQL Developer in the cloud environment

    Hi,
I installed SQL developer as an Administrator in the cloud environment and it is working fine. I also have an user and granted Administrator privs to him ,a nd copied the SQL developer exe to his desktop, but when he runs it SQL developer does not even open, how to fix it?

    What "cloud environment"?

How on earth is this cloud based? You physically copying an executable from a server to a client machine is NOT what cloud computing is about. There is NOTHING cloud-like about it. This is STANDARD copy-software, install-software-on-client and execute-software-on-client approach. This is not SAAS.
-- Might as well be not a cloud computing thing, but my scenario is SQL developer is installed in the Administrator space and when logged in etc., i works fine there. When the same exe is copied to an user with admin rights he is not able to open the application. My goal is, so the user also is able to run SQL developer remotely logging in and run it. He is also running Windows 7.
Or lacks the proper JDK/JRE on the client to run.
-- This could be closer to solving the issue, in the user space we do not have JDK/JRE installed, so do we have to install JDK/JRE in the user login space as well? My initial thought was since I copied the exe from teh admin to the user, he should be automatically able to do the same stuff as admin.Basic prinicple of computing. Not all .exe files are standalone executable. Some require 'other libraries' to run.

  • Develop on one, deploy another?

    Hi All,
Is it common to develop a J2EE app using one (free, cheap) app server for
development and another (bigger, stronger, faster) app server for production
deployment? I would like to get some feedback on whether this is actually
done in practice for large-scale, mission-critical applications. My
instinct would be to avoid such a scenario given the size and complexity of
these products, lest something simply not work the same between two
products. OTOH the J2EE standards are, well, standards, and products
certified to conform to these standards should work the same.
    Thanks for any input,
    Howard

Standards are standars, but sometimes little difference here and there creep
    up.
I do know customers that develop on one and deploy on another.
I would venture to say with 8.1 that there should be little reason to do
    this.
    1) the dev licenses are free. Download for a year, and then when that
expires download again, and again and again.
    2) 8.1 (finally) has working hot deploy. In the iterative development
cycle, you should never have to restart your server when making changes to
your app, just redeploy. We made additional work to provide an even better
dev/build/debug loop with the split-development directory structure. In 8.1

  • Can JDeveloper be used for developing code for deployment to production?

    Hello,
I've downloaded JDeveloper and wanted to know if I could use it for developing code that is deployed to production? I looked at the licensing terms and nothing there seems to say I can't do that. Am I missing something? Also on the JDeveloper page, it says "Free download". Is this tool like SQL Developer - truly free?
    Thanks
    Alex

    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/jdeveloper11gfaq.html#L0
JDeveloper is totally free, you can use it for production. However, some libraries come with JDeveloper, such as ADF, are not free and you have to pay for them in order to use them in production.

  • How can I download my entire development from a system environment

    Hi @ll,
The system I was developing on will be refreshed shortly and I need to save my function group, functions, fields,...
Now can anybody help me how to do this.
    Thanks in advance
    Kam

    Hello,
One possibilty is to release the change requests that contain all your objects before the refresh.  Ask that the basis person save the data and cofiles for your requests.   After the refresh those files can be copied to the appropriate directory and then you can reimport the requests STMS -> Extras ->Other requests -> Add.

  • Feedback/Team Development module in Runtime environment

    Hello Apex experts,
I couldn't find anything about this in documentation. The apex application I am working on has Dev, Test (run time only), Prod(run time only). I just enabled feedback page on development application, planning to move it to test. So when a user submits a feedback from test or prod, how can I access it since there are no Team development module in run time environments.

    Hi there,
    not yet.
The next strange thing is: My old LR4 installation has the same error now.
But I may found the issue. A wrong color profile in the Microsoft windows color management. I ran process monitor in the background while running LR and recognized that LR tries to load this profile again and again (as if it where stuck in a loop).
Will change the profile now and test again.
/EDIT:  It is the color profile of the monitor. LR is working again :-)

In order to deploy applications using the Deploy Service on the SAP J2EE Engine, you must be authenticated as a user from the administrators group. No other users have authorizations to perform this function.
The same authorizations are required also for the update and single file update functions performed via the Deploy Service.
