Difference between compiler.source-path path-element="" / & source-path path-element="" /

Hi guys,
I am not able to understand few differences when i am trying to compile my flex project using ANT. In the adobe resource i can see lots of places they mention as "compiler.source-path path-element="" "
And lots of places i use as <source-path path-element="" />. Can anybody give a better explaination about this.
The below example you can see there are lot of places where they used the attribute as compiler. & some places direct name
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!-- myMXMLCBuild.xml -->
<project name="My App Builder" basedir=".">
<taskdef resource="flexTasks.tasks" classpath="${basedir}/flexTasks/lib/flexTasks.jar" />
<property name="FLEX_HOME" value="C:/flex/sdk"/>
<property name="APP_ROOT" value="apps"/>
<property name="DEPLOY_DIR" value="c:/jrun4/servers/default/default-war"/>
<target name="main">

file="${APP_ROOT}/Main.mxml"
output="${DEPLOY_DIR}/Main.swf"
actionscript-file-encoding="UTF-8"
keep-generated-actionscript="true"
incremental="true"
>
<!-- Get default compiler options. -->
<load-config filename="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks/flex-config.xml"/>
<!-- List of path elements that form the roots of ActionScript
class hierarchies. -->
<source-path path-element="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks"/>
<!-- List of SWC files or directories that contain SWC files. -->
<compiler.library-path dir="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks" append="true">
<include name="libs" />
<include name="../bundles/{locale}" />
</compiler.library-path>
<!-- Set size of output SWF file. -->
<default-size width="500" height="600" />
</mxmlc>
</target>
<target name="clean">
<delete dir="${APP_ROOT}/generated"/>
<delete>
<fileset dir="${DEPLOY_DIR}" includes="Main.swf"/>
</delete>
</target>

I know that Oracle has been putting work into improving the performance of XMLTable and XQuery and that is their direction for what we as developers should be using in our code. I've yet to write any production code like your query 2 but I agree with you that they should be equivalent. For a quick and dirty test, you could simply do an explain plan on both queries and see if they come out similar. As always, an explain plan does not mean that is exactly what Oracle will run during execution, but it is close enough for most situations.

• Differences between various source files in mdm import manager

Hi,
Can anyone tell me the differences between the source files(access,xml,xml schema,excel) available in mdm import manager?
Thanks and regards,

Hi Ritesh,
MDM Import Manager provides flexibility to Import Data from different types of Sources into MDM.
You can import data into MDM from below mentioned sources using Import Manager:
1. From Files (Access, Delimited Text, Excel, Fixed Text, XML and XML Schema)
2. Directly from Data base source (SQL server and oracle)
As mentioned by Mandeep, XML Schema is something which you define in MDM console in advance. and then later select the Data source XML file and XML schema from drop down list (it will show all schema defined in console ) to validate XML source file against the XML schema.
For automated Import, Ports are used. Ports are nothing but a logical point of contact with other systems i.e. other systems or middleware will drop file on the port for authomatic import and MDM import server will scan the port directory and if file is present then will import data automatically from file into MDM using a predefine Import Map. (this map needs to be defined manually in import manager and then assigned to port using console).
Please check page no 45 of import manager reference guide for more details about various source properties of Import Manager. (*link for import manager reference guide is already provided on the earlier post)
Also check, page no 53 to 64 for how to import process. Kindly revert if you have any query.

Also when I upgrade does it have to be with a monthly membership or can I just purchase the product out right like you use to be able?

You cannot "update" from what you have to any of the applications you mention. It will have to be a straight purchase or subscription at full price.
Photoshop is a professional level application that makes no apologies for its very long and steep learning curve.
Lightroom is all about volume, and very light editing.

• Difference between value category and cost element

Hi I am new to SAP Pm.can anyone explain me the difference between value category and cost element and how are they linked with examples

HI Pallavi,
Value Category are use to devide your total cost in to diffrent elements for example Material, External Services, Internal Services etc. If you dont have any value category configured then all cost will show together.
Cost Element are the cost collector where your cost will be booked means different cost under different Elements.
So What you need to do You need to create one Value category Like material or any thing then you need to assign all Cost Elements which will be used to book cost related to Material or that perticular category. You can assign Cost Element directly, range or as a group to these category under SPRO.

• Difference between Cost Centre and Cost Element.

Hi Guru's,
what is the difference between Cost Centre and Cost Element.
regards
JK

Hi,
Cost elements:
A cost element classifies the organization's valuated consumption of production factors within a controlling area
Primary Element - costs that originate outside the company; relate directly to the income statement in FI and must be included in the FI Chart of Accounts
Secondary Element - costs that result from internal allocation activities; NO relation to G/L accounts in FI. These accounts are exclusively for cost accounting and are only maintained in CO
Cost centre :
Organizational unit within a controlling area that represents a defined location of cost incurrence. The definition can be based on:
Functional requirements
Allocation criteria
Physical location
Responsibility for costs
Defines the smallest area of responsibility within the company that causes and influences costs; the lowest level to which you can meaningfully assign direct and indirect costs
If this meets your requirement, you may like to close the posting.

• Differences between compiling a VC model with Flash or Web Dynpro

Hello forum,
Is there anyone capable of telling me what are the main differences between compiling a Visual Composer model with Flash compiler or Web Dynpro compiler.
I've noticed that some important features aren't available when I use the WD compiler, such as creating a popup directly from the output of a table and I can't install a scroll bar to navigate through the table records (it only allows me to place some navigation buttons in the bottom of the table, and this is not a very user-friendly solution).
If you were me, would you choose the Flash compiler?
By the way, do you know a way to increase the performance of a report created with VC? When I execute the iView on the Netweaver Portal, I see that a iview compiled with Webdynpro consumes less 15MB of memory when running the report than a similar iview compiled with Flash.
Thank you.
Regards,
Ricardo Inácio

I found this old post while searching for something else. The main difference between Flash and Web Dynpro modes is that Flash works and Web Dynpro most emphatically does not. Some of the (many) disadvantages of Web Dynpro mode.
1. It will not let you design your own screens. The designer will let you resize and position your fields thus giving you the illusion of being in control, but at runtime it will resize your fields and position them where it thinks fit. This greatly increases development time since you can never be sure what any changes you make to your screen will look like until you run it.
2. You cannot include horizontally and vertically aligned fields in the same form; depending on the option you choose it will align them all vertically or horizontally. Which means that if you do need eg a horizonal row of pushbuttons at the top of your screen followed by a set of vertical fields, you have to use a separate form for each.
3. You cannot use the Editing mode = Read-only mode to make all the input fields in a form non-entereable. You can select it in the designer,but at runtime it doesn't take a blind bit of notice. The only way to make a field non-enterable is to check the Disabled box which turns it a very pale and almost invisible grey which looks awful.
4. You can't change the font or colour of texts.
5. Lots of the controls are not available eg the clock.
6. You cannot create toolbars on forms, or rather you can but at runtime it just ignores them.
7. Adding a hyperlink to a pushbutton does not do anything (this is my latest discovery).
All of the above work in Flash mode. We have to use Web Dynpro because we need the screens to work with screen readers for visually impaired viewers, but anyone who does not have this constraint should avoid using it like the plague.

• Difference between Data sources

Hi Experts,
Can u Pls explain what is the difference between the data sources
0FI_AR_3 :  CUSTOMERS LINE ITEMS
0FI_AR_4 : CUSTOMERS LINE ITEMS WITH DELTA EXTRACTION.
Actually i am here in the implementation project. for FI the above 2 data sources having the same fields and also suggest me which one is better to use.
Regards
sridhar

0FI_AR_3 : CUSTOMERS LINE ITEMS : Old and is replaced by 0FI_AR_4.
This datasource was linked to FI-GL datasource.FI-GL datasource had to be loaded first which would set the timestamp for 0fi_ar_3 and 0fi_ap_3.
0FI_AR_4 : CUSTOMERS LINE ITEMS WITH DELTA EXTRACTION. : 0FI_AR_3 was replaced by 0FI_AR_4 which allows decoupling from FI-GL and the delta mechanism is independent of FI-GL.
There a some help.sap.com on the above check on them.
Hope this helps.

The problem with period format that you are mentioning before executing the DS in RSA3.
Check the format of that field in source and provide the correct format.
Crrect Format : YYYYPPP
For your scenario provide the Period value as 2009001(Dont Put Dot) and execute the ds.You will be able to see the data in RSA3.

• Difference between using source track indicators & track headers?

So far I read the adobe help & premiere pro classroom in a book about targeting tracks with source track indicators & track headers. But I don't understand the difference between them, they sound like they do the same thing. Just looking for a simpler explanation, thanks.

They serve different but interrelated functions.
Track targeting affects which tracks in the sequence are 'used' for various functions, like Insert and Overlay, Copy/Paste, Next Edit shortcuts, etc.
Source routing has a more limited function in that it defines which tracks Insert and Overlay write to, but must be used in combination with track targeting.
For example to Insert video onto V2, you must both route the source to V2 as well as target V2. If you do only one, it doesn't work.
Things have changed a bit and simplified with the new version about to be released.

Upgrade from BW 3.5 to BW 7.0 (BI 7.0)
Some features of BI 7 are
1. In Infosets now you can include Infocubes as well.
2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
3. The BI accelerator (for now only for infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accl is a separate box and would cost more. Vendors for these would be HP or IBM.
4. The monitoring has been imprvoed with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal !
5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
6. Transformations are in and routines are passe! Yess, you can always revert to the old transactions too.

• DVD Rendering and Burning: differences between Premiere Pro and Premiere Elements

I am landscape photogapher and wish to either create slide shows in Premerie or import them to Premiere from H264 1080 quicktime files generated by Ligthroom 3. I do not do frame by frame video editing. My only goal in using Premiere is to be able to render and/or burn DVD's and eventually Bluetooh compatible DVD's for play back on commercial flat panel TV's, e.g., Samsung flat panel dvd's.
Are the DVD rendering and burning capablity of Pemiere CS5 Pro and Premiere 9 Elements equivalent , i.e, are that both as likely to produce DVD's that render with natural color on commercial flat panel TV's?
My prior experience is that my Lightroom generated 1080, H264 quicktime movies have perfectly natural color on Mac LCD and other computer monitors but see very over saturated color on commecial flat panel tv's.
Discussions with Adobe tech support folks are contradictory on this matter.

The main differences between the authoring capabilities (the assembly of DVD/BD, navigation and Menus, plus burning) of Encore (the authoring program, that ships and installs with PrPro) and PrE 9 are:
1.) Encore is a full-featured authoring program, offering a lot more power and flexibility, but at the expense of having to do it "by hand," where PrE 9 is very limited in the navigation that can be employed, and it uses Menu Sets for that automation. Though PSD's, like the Menus in Encore, they have many special aspects, that must be considered, when doing any customization.
A.) In Encore, one can create almost all sorts of navigation in the DVD/BD, limited almost exclusively to the limits imposed by the DVD, or BD specs.
B.) PrE 9 will allow Autoplay, with no Menu, or will automatically create Scene Menus, per the Chapter Markers that you add - and that is ALL. There will be no Into AV material. No Subtiltes. No supplemental Audio streams. Only linear navigation, or no navigation.
C.) Menus for Encore are much more easily customized, where there are some major conventions in those from PrE, that MUST be addressed.
2.) Encore can Burn an Image (ISO) - no Image in PrE, and can Burn a BD to Folder, which cannot be done in PrE - only for DVD.
3.) Encore offers the capability to adjust Layer Breaks for DL discs.
4.) Encore allows one to adjust the Burn speed, and in PrE, one is stuck with the "fastest" based on the speed of the media + the burner
5.) Encore allows output to a Flash delivery with pretty much full navigation.
6.) Encore allows for changes in the Subpicture Highlight Color Sets, and PrE will only do that, with some Menu Set editing.
7.) Encore offers a SlideShow feature, but I feel that it is rudimentary and limited, and assemble mine in PrPro, then go to Encore for authoring.
8.) Encore is a separate program, though interfaces with PrPro with ADL (Adobe Dynamic Link), and is NOT available as a stand-alone any more - only with PrPro.
There are probably more differences, and some of the above might not make any difference to you. Things can probably be summed up as: Encore = great power and flexibility, but with things being done manually, and PrE lacks the power and flexibility, but is semi-automatic, so probably easier to use on simple Projects.
Good luck, and hope this helps you make the decision,
Hunt
[Edit] Sorry that some of the formatting for the Outline did not translate well. Gotta' explore the Outline formatting in the editing screen more, 'cause it would probably have fixed things. Sorry about that.

• Difference between logical file path and physical file path

Hi,
Can anyone tell me why logical file path is required and why physical file path is required? What exactly is the difference bet them?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
PS.

Hi,
The function module FILE_GET_NAME convert a logical path into its corresponding physical path.
The advantage of using logical pathes within your applications is obivous:
If you need to change the physical path you just adjust it within transaction FILE yet no changes are required to your application.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/25/ab3a57df3b11d189fc0000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
The file names that you use in ABAP statements for processing files are physical names. This means that they must be syntactically correct filenames for the operating system under which your R/3 System is running. Once you have created a file from an ABAP program with a particular name and path, you can find the same file using the same name and path at operating system level.
Since the naming conventions for files and paths differ from operating system to operating system, ABAP programs are only portable from one operating system to another if you use the tools described below.
To make programs portable, the R/3 System has a concept of logical filenames and paths. These are linked to physical files and paths. The links are created in special tables, which you can maintain according to your own requirements. In an ABAP program, you can then use the function module FILE_GET_NAME to generate a physical filename from a logical one.
Maintaining platform-independent filenames is part of Customizing. For a full description, choose Tools ® Business Engineer ® Customizing, followed by
Implement. projects ® SAP Reference IMG. On the next screen, choose Basis Components System Administration ® Platform-independent File Names.
For a more detailed description of the function module FILE_GET_NAME, enter its name on the initial screen of the Function Builder and choose Goto Documentation. On the next screen, choose Function module doc.
Another way of maintaining platform-independent filenames is to use the Transaction FILE. The following sections provide an overview of the transaction.
To create a logical filename, choose Logical filename definition, client-independent from the Navigation group box in Transaction FILE, then choose New entries. You define logical filenames
You can either define a logical filename and link it to a logical path (as displayed here), or you can enter the full physical filename in the Physical file field. In the latter case, the logical filename is only valid for one operating system. The rules for entering the complete physical filename are the same as for the definition of the physical path for the logical file. To display further information and a list of reserved words, choose Help.
If you link a logical path to a logical file, the logical file is valid for all syntax groups that have been maintained for that logical path. The filename specified under Physical file replaces the reserved word in the physical paths that are assigned to the logical path. To make the name independent of the operating system, use names that begin with a letter, contain up to 8 letters, and do not contain special characters.
Save your changes.
regards,
Omkar.
