Difference between Vendor & Supplier

Hi Gurus,
Can anyone explain me the difference between vendor & supllier in oracle applications ?
I am a Tech.person and little confusion about the same .
regards
sanjay

Yap, it's the same thing. The term Vendor tends to be used from the technical side (po_vendors, po_vendor_sites_all, ...) and Supplier tend to be used from functional side (in the PO responsibilities you will find Supply Base, Approver Supplier List, Supplier Merge), but both Vendor and Supplier refer to the same entity.
Hope it helps.

  • What is the difference between Vendor Document and Vendor Invoice

    Hi Gurus,
Can anyone please explain me the difference between Vendor Document (KA) and the Venodor Invoice(KR).
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Dev Mahedra

Vendor Invoice is Book the invoice value in our book
but vendor document KA is transfer anything from one vendor to another vendor.
After closed the period, we can not reverse the posted invoice document, at that time we have to pass on journal voucher i.e *vendor document*
normally consultant gave the KA document for reversal.

  • Difference between Production Supply Area and a Storage Location

    Hello Experts,
Basic question but wanted to get more clarity on the concept as i never worked on the PSA
Can someone tell me the exact difference between PSA and a SL. I understand PSA is a Kanban, WM and SL is an IM concept. Can a work center have a storage location assigned or just a PSA? Can a GI be done from PSA or just from a storage location.

    Hello
The production supply area is a master data used by WM, while the storage location is used by MM-IM.
    Check this link for details:
Production Supply Area - Warehouse Management System (WMS) - SAP Library
The goods issue is done with reference to the storage location
It is possible to assigne a storage location to a production supply area and assign the production supply area to the work center.

  • Difference between vendor open items and vendor balance

    Hi all,
I have the following problem: When I display open items for a vendor with a special general ledger code, it happens that for some vendors, the total of these open items do not equal the vendor balance concerning this special GL code.
Or in other words, the sum of BSIK and BSAK entries are not equal to the totals in table LFC3.
I identified SAP standard program RFEWA003, that gives me exactly these differences, but how can I correct the entry in LFC3?
The difference only occurs in the current fiscal year and is in the carryforward amount of LFC3. I checked the totals of debits and credits for the current year which are 100% correct.
Our last fiscal year was shortened (only 11 months). Could this be the reason?
How to correct LFC3 entries? Any correction program existing that is not related to Euro conversion?
    Thanks for your appreciated help,

    Hi Michael,
Thanks for your answer, but I tried already the carry forward. It just says there is nothing to be treated.
I thought there might be a special carry forward transaction for special general ledger accounts, but it does not seem.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Color Differences Between Vendors

I have a CMYK formula of 10-25-60-25 that I use as a background color for a client. I don't "convert" those colors, they are in fact the exact same formula in whatever application is being used. I have printed banners, table covers, posters, flyers, etc and the color are the same on screen and embedded but are outputting differently. I had a job printed that was quite expensive on a textured laminate and it came back with the inks bleeding into each other and the color was leaning toward green instead of gold. I called the vendor and told them the job was unacceptable, more because of the low res smears, but also because of color. They sent the job out to another company and it came back perfect in color and resolution. Sorry to be long winded but offset and even digital printing seem to provide a proper gold color, the banners and posters seem to have the green tone but the clincher is that I just printed the same swatch from Quark and Illustrator to my inkjet printer Quark was green, Illustrator was gold. I've been a designer for 20 years, meaning I'm not new to the industry. I guess my question is: "Is this is a problem I can fix?" Inconsistent results are making me nutty.

To get consistent colors takes alot of effort and follow though. You cannot make this an easy task to manage, but you can get consistent and acceptable results. To answer your question there woudl be many pages to this post.
I have not used Quark in awhile, so don't know if they added color management. We used to turn off color management in Adobe (AKA: Emulate Illustrator 6) to get consistent color prints on our laser printer betwen Illustrator and Quark.
If color is important to you, and you are dealing with different printer, then you need to get proofs and accurate ones like Kodak approval. Even big companies like CryoVac (AKA CryoCrap) their proofs don't match their press and especially when they do their proofs in South Carolina, and print in Oklahoma. In reality proofs never 100.0% exactly match press, but when they are totally off in highlight areas or neutrals with color casts is a sign of a bad proofing system.
You may have to cheat the color sometimes. Litho is the most stable and consistent but lets say you want to print vinyl banners, you may have to get a small proof or test color, then alter your color to match. Golds and browns usually require the most attention, as they use tints of all 4 colors, and can easily shift from going to warm/cool or light/darkover a few %. You will usually have less of a problem with for example 100y. Yellow is an interesting color as people usually think of removing ink to get a color lighter(in cmyk), yellow often acts as a brightener in gold/brown/fleshtone and adding more yellow can lighten a color. A green cast sometiems means -cy, but also just -c can do the trick(depends on the exact color the and neighboring colors).

  • Differences between tcodes fk01,mk01 and xk01

    Hi Guys,
Can any body please tell me the differences between the mentioned transactions.
what are the differences between vendors created through these transactions?
If my vendor is for utility items or non PO then can i create using XK01 or MK01?
    thanks in advance...
    Arjun

    Hi Arjun,
FK01 can be used for maintaining the vendor details at the company code level & for general data.
MK01 can be used for maintaining the vendor details at the purchasing org level & for general data.
XK01 can be used for maintaining the vendor details at the company code , purchasing org level and general data.
Using XK01 transaction you can create different vendors for each pruchase organization of that company individual.
where as in FK01 you can create vendor for the whole company together.
MK01 transaction creates a new vendor record without payment details.
    Hope this will help.

  • Difference between Existing QM system and Vendor QM system in QI info recor

In Quality info record, under inspection control tab, I find 2 options for certificate monitoring, one is Existing QM system and another one is Vendor's QM system, Please advice the difference between them.

    hi dear,
There is no such difference, only he thing is when u developed or upload some new vendor based OM system which is valid from its industry type. Like in manufacuring it is strongly recomended that vendor is certified by some authorized agency like ISO, TUV Nord etc. so when u use this and configure it in ur sap system than u may change the setting and use Vendor QM system in Q-Info, while if is not there than u may use existing QM system of ur own company if u uploaded in SAP or u may keep it blank if not required.
if we use Vendor QM system than it is best practice to maintain QM procurement and related document like Certificate or Delievery assurance from vendor in MM02 ---> QM view.
I hope this short one cleares ur point.

  • Link between vendor number in purchase order and supplying plant (Sales O.)

    Hi All
Please could you advise, what settings control the following:
    1. Purchase order created for vendor A. (vendor- is internal supplier within same company in SAP, but different company code).
    2. Sales order automatically created on vendors side, plant B.
Question is where is the link between vendor number (A) and supplying plant name (B):
How SAP identifies, what plant sales order (for created purchase order) should be generated at?
    Thanks!

    Please share your view.

Generally both the payment terms should be defined same
from the payment term of payment transaction screen will copy to invoice and the payment term from purchasing will copy to PO.

  • Difference between 2 payment terms in vendor master

    Hi All,
Please explain the difference between the 2 payment terms in vendor master. I have noticed that the payment term of purchasing view is reflected in purchase orders. What is the use of the payment term in the finance view.
    SAPXPT

    Hi,
The Purchasing view payment terms are copied to purchasing tranactions like PO, PR where are the accounting view Payment terms are copied to financial postings  like FI invoice or Vendor Invoice.
Please  maintain different value in these two view and check creating Purchase order and Vendor invoice
Purchase order in ME21N will get the payment terms from the Purchasing view
Vendor Invocie in FB60  will get the Payment terms from the Accounting view.
    Please test and revert

  • Difference between Return Delivery to Vendor - Against Material Document &

    Hi,
Can any body explain in detail what is the difference between the below 2 scenarios-
Difference between Return Delivery to Vendor - Against Material Document & Return Delivery to Vendor - Against Returns PO
    Thanks in adv
    Reg
    SSK

    Hi,
Return delivery to Vendor against material document is done when you want to send the entire qty back to vendor and when your vendor invoice is not paid.
You create Returns order, when you want to return some qty for which you can not trace any material document.
For eg: During some festival season, you have purchased more stock. After that some stock is left with you which you would like to return to the vendor.
Or you have found them damaged at a later point of time.
