Difference in GR price and goods issue price

hi all,
we are facing problem in difference in goodsrecipt price and goods issue price.
material is maintained with moving average price.
we do GR  (101) for full month and the last day we do goods issue for some quantities. (201 mvt type)
while chekcing the material  price, goods issue price is less than the goods recipt price.( total value / total stock )
what is the possibilities of the difference and where we can identify the changes.?
price also not updated through MR21.
regards,
Vinay

hi vinay,
Please check the order prices for the material. Are you purchasing the material from a single vendor or multiple vendors? What is the price that you have maintained for each vendor in the info-records? If you have maintained different prices, the valuation of your material will keep changing with each GR since your material has price control V. During GR, the P.O. price is taken. During GI, the Moving Average price is taken from material master. When you do the goods issue at the end of the month, the Moving average price AT THAT POINT OF TIME  is taken for posting to the Consumption Account / Stock Account. Hence, you will have a difference in the GR / GI values. I suggest, after every GR, you go to MB03. Check the material document and the accounting document. Alongside, look at the Accounting View of the material and note the M.A. price. When you do the GI, note the M.A. price.
Revert back if not clear.

Rahul.

  • Change in PO Price after goods receipts and goods issue

    Dear All,
Happy Holidays!! Wishing you a happy and fun-filled holiday season.
I would appreciate your input of the issue at hand. I support MM users in and Oil & Gas downstream company.
    Issue
Purchase Orders are created using price estimates. The price of oil products fluctuates and we usually cannot get the exact price at the point of creation of the PO.
We use Moving Average Price (MAP) for stock valuation and so the price & quantity in the PO affects the moving average price.
We use price estimates to create the PO but when we receive the final price for the oil products from the Supplier, most times there is a significant difference between the estimated price and the final price. Usually, at this point, we have completed all goods receipts and goods issues against the PO and are unable to make changes.
We have an issue posting the invoice because the invoice value is significantly higher than the PO value. We also have an issue with the moving average price because it is understated as a result of this.
To reiterate, this is a summary of the issue:
At the point if PO creation ; Quantity = 10, 000 MT Price = $650
Later when final price is available; Quantity = 10, 000 MT Price = $715
Any advise on how to treat this issue, please? Your assistance will be truly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi All
For my client I have to map the similar requirement for material price which is subject to more than 15% fluctuation. The actual invoice price is having quite a huge difference.
Below are my limitations within which need to give a solution.
PO is subject to release strategy and Material is delivered over a longer duration of time. Hence there is problem to de-Release the PO everytime price is changed.
Since differnce is so huge, the same can not be settled during the MIRO.
Down Payments has to be posted hence PO has to be created with estimated base price.
Please suggest me suitable alternative options which will require no changes in PO and the price change also can be accomodated during the MIRO for  Multiple goods receipts.

  • Difference between Standard Pricing and Moving Average Price

    Hi,
Would like to seek some advises on the difference between standard price and Moving average price.
also, how does it affect the account postings differently?
    Thanks

    Standard Price
Materials whose price control indicator is set to S are valuated in Financial Accounting (FI) at standard price.
This is recommended for semifinished products and finished products.
The moving average price is shown as a statistical value in the material master record.
The standard price is normally calculated using a standard cost estimate for the material. The standard price can also be calculated in a mixed cost estimate.
    Moving Average Price
When materials whose price control indicator is set to V are received from in-house manufacturing processes, they are initially valuated with a value you defined (such as the standard price). When you settle, the material stock account is debited with the variances. This results in a new moving average price.
Valuating semifinished products and finished products with the moving average price is not recommended.

  • Standarad price and moving average price

What is the diff between Standarad price and moving average price ???

Price Control V or S in material type
When is it useful to use the price control V or S in Material Master ?
Do I have to follow the SAP standard setting in the material type for the following material types:
    - ROH(Raw materials) -> moving average price
    - HALB(Semifinished products) -> standard price
    - FERT(Finished products) -> standard price
In which case and why is useful to change these standard setting in material type?
What is difference between standard price and moving average price?
When and how to use it?
Standard price are used for products that do not fluctuated frequently.  It is usually used for finished or semi finished products.
Moving average price are used mainly for raw materials that are purchased externally.  The advantage of using moving average price for your raw materials is that your inventory costs will always reflect the current market cost.
SAP strongly recommends that you do not select price control V for semi-finished products and finished products, because doing so will very easily cause the calculation of unrealistic valuation prices. SAP recommends:
Price control V for raw materials and trading goods; price control S for semi-finished products and products.
If you nevertheless select price control V, take care in the following situations:
    1. Unrealistic prices occur if materials are produced and also retire during one period (that is, the inventory at the end of the period is smaller than the total of aquisitions from production orders) and if, in addition, several production orders belonging to a material were finished in this period, and the production order settlement calculates variances at the end of the period. Every single production order carries out an inventory coverage check and may therefore cause the moving average price to be changed. However, the individual production orders do not check whether the inventory available at the end of the period has already been debited by another production order.
Example: on 20 workdays in the period, 1 piece of material xyz was produced for each day and delivered to the warehouse at a price of USD 1000. At the end of the period there is 1 piece at the warehouse. Since an activity price of a participating cost center was higher than planned , every single production order calculates cost of goods manufactured of USD 1100 during the settlement. Every single one carries out a inventory coverage check and finds out that the variance can be posted completely to the inventory. That is, the ending inventory of one piece is debited with USD 20 x 100 and it consequently receives a price of USD 3000.
    1. A settlement is carried out although not all costs have yet been posted to the order. This can even result in a price of 0 for the delivered product.
    2. No period check of the costs is carried out on the order, that is, costs from previous periods may be settled.
    3. Settling orders is already possible in the 'Delivery completed' status.
Solution: Standard price for products together with possible manual price changes.
If you are required to valuate semi-finished and finished products with actual prices that correspond to the costs of the actual production, SAP recommends you use the function of the material ledger for this. Here, a periodic actual price is created that is calculated on a much more reliable basis than the moving average price. A so-called price limiter quantity is used which makes sure that in the above example price differences are proportionally taken into account (95% of the total price differences) when valuating the 19 pieces withdrawn from material xyz which results in a periodic actual price of 1100 USD. In addition, it is possible as of Release 4.5 to even take into account the variances of the actual prices of the raw materials in the valuation of the semi-finished and finished products that are manufactured from it.
If we select std price for any type of material or mav and then make po, it will pick from material master or what?
The Purchase Info Record have the FIRST priority.  When no po info record is found, the Purchase Order will pick the user LAST enter price.  The PO module do not pick up any price from material master.

  • Std price and moving avg price

hii frends...in which scenario we hve to go for std price and moving avg price...
    thnx in adv...

Generally all raw materials (ROH), spare parts (ERSA), traded goods (HAWA) etc. are assigned as moving average price (MAP) because of the accounting practice of accurately valuating the inventory of such materials. These materials are subject to the purchase price fluctuations on a regular basis.
Company generally uses moving average on purchased materials with small cost fluctuations.  It is most appropriate when the item is easily obtainable.  The impact on margins are minimized which reduces the need for variance analysis.  Furthermore, the administrative effort is low as there are no cost estimates to maintain.  The cost reflects variances, which are closer to actual costs.
The semi-finished goods (HALB) and finished products (FERT) are valuated with standard price because of the product costing angle. If these were to be MAP controlled, then finished/semi-finished product valuation would fluctuate due to data entry errors during back flushing of material and labor, production inefficiencies (higher cost) or efficiencies (lower cost). This is not a standard accounting and costing practice.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Consumption and goods issue

    Dear all,
I see that consumption is cost element whereas goods issue is non cost element.
In GBB transaction code, VAX is goods issue where VAY is consumption.
May I know why there is a difference between consumption and goods issue? I read the post on vax and vay but from business view, why consumption can go to copa whereas goods issue cannot go to copa?
    Thanks

    Hi
Goods issue account(Inventory related account)  is balace sheet account normally we will not crate a balance sheet accounts as a cost element .

  • Goods Receipt and Goods Issue

    Hi Gurus,
I am working on an interface where I need to work on a process that allows posting of Goods recipts and goods issue and for this I have been asked to create a custom transaction that will pull the data from the local file and replicate Goods receipt (MIGO) and goods issue process in Inventory Managemnt.
Can anyone out there please help me out how to approach this development and what would be easiest way to accomplish this task.
    Help will really be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Rajeev...

    1.   Create a custom report which get the data from input file.
    2.   Populate the BAPI parameter with respective information and movement type.
    3.   Call BAPI - BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE .
    4.   Call BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT.
For the custome report you can create transaction and execute.
I don;t have detail information - BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE  with example. Better you search on SDN.

  • Difference between inbound delivery and Goods Receipt

Can any one explain difference between inbound delivery and goods Receipt??

    Hi dear,
Inbound delivery is one confirmation used to indicate the expected goods receipts in advance, so that the related process partners like warehouse personnel , planning personnel can utilise this data for initiation of actions and planning. Also , we can make this confirmation relevant to Planning in the customisation, to enhance the performance.
In general , we need confirmations only as a kind of assurance/information , in absence of the goods.
But if the goods are received physically , obviously we do not need any confirmations , we would perform the goods receipt .
When working with Inbound delivery , the goods receipt is done with respect to specific inbound delivery( though not compulsary to do so) , so that the integration done in the system works to the advantage of the users.

  • How to change Purchase Order currency after Good receipt and Good issue?

    Hi,
I've a PO created last year. The PO currency has been entered wrongly.
My store colleague has been performed good received and consumed it.
Now, I am not able to change PO currency to correct one, due to this message:-
Currency can no longer be changed
    Message no. 06489
    Diagnosis
As a basic rule, the currency cannot be changed if there has already been a goods receipt against a document.
If the document contains external service and/or limit items, or if an invoicing plan has been assigned to an item, the currency cannot be changed following the receipt of an invoice either.
If external service items exist, the currency also cannot be changed if services that have actually been performed have already been recorded or if the item in question has been assigned to a preventive maintenance (servicing) plan.
Is there anyway to change PO currency after Good receipt and Good issue? Thanks !

kindly note that depending on the Moving average or standard price (price control flag in mm01) the difference will either get adjusted with the material or to the price difference account accordingly.
in the example for standard price
             gr for po :10 bags @ 11
    dr stock 100

  • Average price during good issue for a vehicle

    Dear Experts,
I have a little doubt about how to manage valuation with vehicles, using VMS.
I understand that the standard VMS solution mantains a valuation type for each vehicle (for each batch for the specific model), am I right? .
We have a requiriment in my client, that the price calculated during goods issue (the cost) should be the average pice for each model, and it shouldn't be the cost for he specific vehicle.
Is it posible to manage it with batch valuation in VMS?
Could I deactivate batch valuation for vehicles in VMS? Or do we have any other choice?
    Thanks for your help!
    Best regards,
    Ignacio

    Hi Ignacio.
Batch management is required in VMS (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_dimp50/helpdata/EN/91/88c43ace7a3b46e10000000a114084/frameset.htm)
In which scenario your customer wants to have an average valuation?  Most of the vendors, in a sort of best practice of the industry, use batch valuation.

  • FIFO price when Goods Issue is wrong

    Hi
I  have 2 warehouses: 02 and 03 and by mistake I did a Goods Issue from warehouse 02 instead of 03.
    I am using FIFO.
How can I correct this wrong goods issue so that my FIFO prices are correct?
    Thank you
    Irina
Edited by: Darius Heydarian on Apr 14, 2008 4:07 PM

I’m afraid; there is no good solution to reproduce the exact FIFO structure. If you need the original structure, you should remove all the higher layers with goods issue and rebuild it with appropriate goods receipt transactions...
May be someone has a better idea?
