Disable windows start key

hello,
this question is related to the windows operating system only, i have been tryin to look for examples where the start menu key is disabled but i havnt found any so far, has anyone done it before? one of my fren said that i have to use JNI but am not sure if that is the solution, please advice me regarding this issue, code snipets would be a great relief.

But control-alt-delete in NT4.0 is a kernel level security feature that can't be
defeated unless you hide the keyboard. By using registry settings you can
control what is presented to the user after he hits control-alt-delete and keep
him/her from shutting down, but you will also have to lock up the computer to keep
your users from hitting the reset button and hide the mouse.
If you want to boot up an NT environment without a keyboard and mouse
you will need to go to NT Embedded. NTE allows you to build a custom
OS that does not require keyboard or mouse to boot. You can also install
just the components you need, ie; no browser, menus, control panel, etc.

Right-click on "My Computer", and choose Manage. Open the "Services and Applications" node on the tree structure on the left, double-click on "Services". Find the service called MAXDB:NSP Right-click on this and change the startup type to "Manual". Click "Apply", then "Ok". Then go to the service labeled as SAPNSP_00 and do the same thing, setting it to manual. That should be it. These services will then be starting only when starting the system via the MMC

Windows Starter sticker countaining a key, but no installation CD

I have recently bought an IdeaPad Z570. I bought one taht does not come with a Windows 7. But I discovered that i has a Windows 7 Starter key on a sticker but no Windows 7 DVD.
My question is: how can I use this key? Is it possible to install Seven from another DVD and using this key for the installation?

How to disable windows 8 f key shortcuts

I am using windows 8 and HP Pavilion laptop.
I am playing games that require using f keys sometimes, but these f keys do different things in the desktop or whatsoever.
F1 opens up some kind of windows help bar, f2 makes the screen darker and f3 lighter.
I searched HP support forums and found someone else having the same problem. I followed the instructions and went to disable my action keys in system configurations. I saved the new settings and rebooted laptop, but still those fkeys work without using fn button.
What to do ?

You state after disabling the action keys in the BIOS the F keys still work without having to use the FN key along with them, is that correct? I will try to assist you with this.

Is it possible to capture the Windows Start Menu key in Java, or should I give up all hope?

The "Windows"-Key fires VK_UNDEFINED / CHAR_UNDEFINED:
* KEY_PRESSED and KEY_RELEASED events which do not map to a
* valid Unicode character use this for the keyChar value.
So: Give up all hope. Especially on a Mac.

How to disable "special" f-key function on Apple Wireless Keyboard in Windows 7

Hi. I dual-boot my iMac using an Apple Wireless Keyboard. In Mac OS's "Keyboard" system preference pane, I've chosen to treat the F-keys as actual F-keys, and not the "special" function keys, such as volume control and screen brightness. This however does not carry over to the Windows environment.
I cannot find an option to do this on the Windows 7 side. I've tried SharpKeys (popular Windows freeware key-mapping registry editor), however the program doesn't recognize the key being pushed (unless I hold the "Fn" key, at which point, it sees it as the F# key).
To reiterate, I'd like to know how to use the F1 through F12 keys as F1-F12 in Windows 7, without having to use the "Fn" key.

D420 scan start key with windows 8.1

I installed the latest driver as instructed but the only way I can get the scan to work is to create a shortcut to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Canon\MF Toolbox Ver4.9\mftbox but the start key on the printer in scan mode just brings up an empty box.
Anyone know a fix for this?

I recommend setting the MF Toolbox as the default program in the scanner properties. Please follow the instructions below:
1. Please open the [Devices and Printers].
2. Right-click on the D400/420 Series and select [Scan Properties].
3. Click on the [Events] tab.
4. The prompt will appear. Select the MF Toolbox program under "Start this program".
5. Select [Apply] or [OK].
6. Perform a scan using the [Start] button.

Disable / Remove Control Key From Pop-Up Virtual Keyboard

Hello. I am setting up a kiosk system using Microsoft Surface tablets. I wish to use the win8 virtual keyboard along with chrome in kiosk mode to run a web app. I am trying to edit the Keyboard Mapping in registry, which works with the physical keyboard
but not with the virtual one. All I need to do is disable the control key so users can't do anything with browser shortcuts. Also, I can't just disable them in JS because the browser captures them before they even reach the js engine.

On Screen Keyboard is one application that is used to simulate the keyboard to send the Key Events to system. It is not a physical keyboard but a built-in tool,
After a lot of research, I am afraid there isn’t a solid way of disabling the Windows key on virtual keyboard, including the control key.
Besides, Kiosk mode is available for Internet Explorer according to the link below, and it is available for Internet Explorer 11 after a test:

Another thing is, it fails to start the Kiosk mode with Chrome after remove Internet Explorer from the control panel, I tried with a test.

Disable default start up system

I installed Windows 7 64 bits with Boot Camp and all works fine: when I restarted my Mac, it starts in the last Operating System I used:
- When I was in Windows, I restarted and Windows starts automatically.
- When I was in Mac OS X, I restarted and Mac OS X starts automatically.
But I made a mistake: I selected restart in Mac OS X from Boot Camp Control Panel. Since this moment it always restarts in Mac.
I have to press Alt key when I restart Windows in order to restart in Windows, because if I don't press the Alt Key, Mac OS starts as default.
If I change in Startup Disk to use Windows as Default Operating System, it happends the same, I can't restart Mac if I don't press the Alt key.
How can I disable default Operating System in order to start with the last started system?

If you want other applications to remain the default, for example opening up
an image, you can do the following:
Step 1. Click on Start;
Step 2. Move the mouse to All Programs and click on Windows Explorer;
Step 3. Find an image that is the type you want to open with OTHER
applications;
Step 4. RIGHT-click on the image and choose, "Open-With"... if you check the
box that says "always do this"... it will stay this way.

I've a new account on iMac. When composing an email the contact list does not show up on the bar, which would allow me to select the persons I want to include on the distribution of the email. When I start keying in a name in the email, it comes up with the person's address, which shows it is synced. How do I engage the contact list from the email like I do on my old account (where a contact list icon shows up, along with the "attach" and other icons) ?

With the New Message window open, go to the View menu and select "Customize Toolbar...".
In the screen that opens, drag the item labelled "Address" into the Toolbar area of the New Message window, then click the "Done" button.
That item should be then added to the Toolbar for the New Message window.
Note that the main Mail window and the New Message window (as well as the separate message window if you open a message that way) use different toolbars - the settings/inclusions for one do not carry over to another.

I see that you are having some problems accessing your BIOS. F10 doesn't work with Windows 8. If you scroll down in your own link it mentions that to access the BIOS you need to go to your Advanced Options and then select Troubleshooting and then the UEFI Firmware Settings. That will bring you to the BIOS. This is all under Accessing UEFI BIOS section of your link. There you can Disable the Function Keys.

Quick start Key Question ( S10-2)

When I first used the Quick Start key after the normal boot up of windows OS, a config screen appeared, wherein I could choose 1) one Application, 2) One Folder or File and 3) an URL for quick launch. After I chose one URL, it disappeared never to reappear again.
Can these be reconfigured?
How can I get that initial screen again so that I can choose other choices?
Can I configure all 3 things or only one of the 3?

Just in case I have not made myself clear, i think this key can be used for quick launching of selected Apps, Files or URL (after logging in to Windows).
What I want to know is once after making a selection, how to select a different set if need be.

Short keys in the ABAP Workbench and windows short keys

you trigger functions in the ABAP Workbench you can use short keys, ex. F8 for starting a report. But some of the short keys are already given for some window functions. So you can't use them in the ABAP workbench. Is there a possibility to assign new short keys to certain functions in the ABAP workbench or turn the windows short keys off, so that these short keys can be used for the ABAP workbench. Thanks.
