Disabling the xml feed as a canonical workaround

Hi I have a question and wondered if anyone can advise.
I am working on a jewellery site with 150ish products and multiple catalogs - 4 main ones (necklaces, earrings, bracelets & rings) and then many less important ones (beaded necklace, stretch bracelet etc)
Each product resides in many catalogs (eg 'Necklace A' can be found in catalog 'necklace' and 'beaded necklace' and 'sale jewellery). I want the main catalogs and subsequent products in these catalogs (eg necklace) to be the ones that google use (to avoid duplocate content etc).
I would have liked to use a Canonical tag but dont think BC supports these. My workaround was to disable the xml feed of all the 'less important' catalogs so that google only sees the 4 main catalogs.
Is this a good idea? Does anyone have any other suggestions? etc
Suggestions will be warmly recieved.
Thanks

For example, run the following
<cffeed action="read"
query="rssQuery"

I would imagine most people submitting such a large number of jobs are using something more robust like Qube:

Qmaster is very buggy and would need a complete rewrite before it could be qualified for use in such an environment.

If there is it is fairly high. I just downloaded all of 7th Son Podcast last weekend, 50+ episodes.

  • Can I submit a jsp link to provide the XML feed from a dabase?

Will a .jsp file that querries our database to provide formatted & tagged iTunes XML be allowed as a valid podcast link through iTunes? We are trying to provide our clients with multiple-title XMLs. This would be a great way for us to manage/schedule the data. Are there any alternative methodologies for database-driven XML that iTunes can accept? I think we can do .php as well.
    Thanks in advance.

Throw this open to the community to chip in, but off the top of my head.... thinking of something along lines of:
    Create 3 web apps,
Product (Fields Product Name & ProductID)
Zipcode (Fields Area Desc & Zipcode)
Freight Rates (Fields FreightRateID (made up of ProductID_ZipCode), Freight Rate)
Create a web app search form for Web App Freight Rates with:
Product select, with options drawn from web app 1 using ProductID for value.
Zipcode select, with options drawn from web app 2 using Zipcode for value.
    Hidden FreightRateID field.
Once a visitor has selected their product and zipcode, using javascript concatenate the selected ProductID with selected Zipcode.
This will produce a FreightRateID (e.g. PROD1_4567), which can be loaded into the hidden FreightRateID field.
When submitted, it will perform a web app search for a Freight Rate that matches the chosen product and zipcode, ie. FreightRateID.
To make entry of the freight rates easier, maybe add 2 datasource fields to the Freight Rate web app for Product and Zipcode.
Then create a front end web app add/edit (via a secure zone) to allow entry to be done by:
Select product, select zipcode then enter freight rate.  (FreightRateID can be created and populated in same way as search above)

  • HTTP support for XML feed in XMLProvider ??

Im trying to customize a XMLProvider with HTTP url for the XML feed in the display profile. I get a FileNotFoundException while running the portal and "Error getting conent" is diaplayed in the channel.
It works fine when i download it and give the path of the file in the url element. Can I use http in the url element ?? Any suggestions please.
    Sunil.

same problem, scheme "file" is working, path in the filesystem is working, and "http" don't work ( same xml content in the 3 cases).
I see with truss that the web server answer ok with 200 so the GET seems to work...
I have copied the xml content in the portal web server, and same behaviour.
    Is there a workaround ?
    thanks

  • Parameter is not working in HTTP( XML FEED) dataset in bi publisher 11g

    Hi,
I have used parameter in BI Publisher 10g for HTTP(XML Feed) dataset to have dynamic url which worked by using ${p_url} where p_url is the parameter.
The same procedure when I use in BI Publisher 11g is not working. It does not consider the parameter ${p_url} and throws the following exception
    *oracle.xdo.dataengine.datasource.plugin.DataAccessException: java.lang.Exception: java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: ${p_url}*
    Has anyone faced this issue?
Please let me know if am doing something incorrect here.
    Thanks &Regards,
    Balaji

    Thanks for your reply.
In BI Publisher 10 g we are using it this way ${p_url}.
p_url is the parameter which gives us the entire URL for the XML feed.
    e.g. p_url=http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/topstories
The p_url takes the entire url.
Please let me know if this can be done the same way in 11g.
    Thanks,
    Balaji

  • Tutorial needed: Nivo Slider powered by Photo Gallery XML feed

I'm in need of some help.  I've setup my Photo Gallery, generated the xml feed.  I went to the Nivo slider site, but don't see instructions of how to make it read the xml file.

So this is the information that I'm using which leads me to believe I can use the xml feed to populate the slider.
    http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1780
. You can now style this using your own CSS or use one of the many free, jQuery-based Gallery/Slideshow plugins available on the web, such as Galleria, the jQuery Cycle plugin, or InnerFade.
When using a seperate jQuery plugin on top of this set up, make sure you place and execute the plugin script after the code we just inserted, so that our LI items are generated before it attempts to process and manipulate them.
Am I right and it just takes the proper coding?

  • XMLType toobject return invalid number while providing the XML Schema/DTD

We are exploring an option of converting XML into an oracle object and found toobject procedure that does the job. It works fine without XML Schema and provides XML data as oracle object. But it takes more time in parsing the XML since it uses canonical mapping. I hope by providing XML Schema we can improve the performance of this procedure. However when we use toobject with XML Schema it reports error as INVALID NUMBER irrespective of the input XML changes. Could anyone help me in this regard?

    Sorry
The option of using toObect() to get an instance of the object that was creaed by regidsteing an XML Schema with the database, or which is associated with an XML Schema that has been registered with the database is depricated and will be removed in the next release. The main reason for this is that we reserve the right to change the structure, naming conventions or any other aspects of the object model we dervie from an XML schema, even as a result of a one-off patch, and consequently any code that was written to rely on this mapping would be broken on a regular basis.
We do gurantee that code that uses the XML abstraction (eg XPATH/XQUERY) to access the content of the XML will work unchanged...
In you case you have 2 options...
    1. Use the canonical mapping mechansim
    2. Write code that instantiates the objects from the outpiut of an XMLTable...

  • Can anyone help me edit the xml in Feedburner?

I successfully resubmitted my podcast to Itunes so that now it only takes the podcasts, and all six episodes are there.  Yay!
Problem is now that it shows it created by "[email protected]"
I can see just where that is in the xml feed, but when I try to edit it, nothing happens.
also the website sends it just to the page for podcasts, but that's ok as the tabs are all at the top and anyone who wants to can click ont he tabs to read more. And I think having it link to the entire blog was part of the problem in the first place. I'm just concerned about the "noreply" thing.
Here is the podcast on itunes:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/new-york-irish-arts/id435952770
The offending line in the xml is this:
    <managingEditor>[email protected] (Gwen Orel)</managingEditor>
        <lastBuildDate>Wed
But I don't know how to get in there to change it.  Help....

As far as I can deduce you have created the podcast using Blogger's online service, then submitted the feed URL they give you to Feedburner: the Feedburner feed, which has been submitted to iTunes, is at
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/IWRRu
Both Blogger and Feedeburner create and host the feed themselves: it's not possibile for you to edit this directly. You have to make any required changes in Blogger.
There is a bit of a mystery over the offending entry. That area on the iTunes Store should be populated from the 'itunes:author' tag; there is such a tag, containing just your name. ITunes does not, in theory, read the 'managingEditor' tag, so why it's displaying the contents of this tag I can't say. It's all something you would have to take up with Blogger: but these free service come at the price of accepting their way of doing things and one of the things which is liable to happen is that they like links back to their own site. That one is a bit odd, though.

  • Handling an XML Feed in CFML?

    Hi All
I'm unfamiliar with CFML, but I need to try to create a
script to take an XML feed from another server and display the
contents of the file as HTML. We have an existing PHP script which
does this for most of the sites we deal with but we now have to do
the same for a site with a ColdFusion server.
This is the existing PHP script we have (The highlighted bits
are fields which vary from page to page):
    <?php
    $fh =fopen('
    [URL1]/src/LinksAsHTML.asp?ID=
    [ID]&PASSCODE=
    [PassCode]&XSL=
    [URL2]/resources.xsl&Category=
    [Category]’,
    'r') or die('Content is temporarily unavailable');
    while(! feof($fh)){
    $page .= fread($fh, 1048576);
    fclose($fh);
    print "$page";
    ?>
Would anyone have any idea how to go about creating an
equivalent CFML script? I'm afraid nobody at our company has any
ColdFusion experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Pete

You will probably want to use CFHTTP. Documentation on this
    tag can be found at
    http://livedocs.macromedia.com/coldfusion/5.0/CFML_Reference/Tags47.htm#1632966.
The XML feed will be found in the variable CFHTTP.FileContent after
    the CFHTTP is executed.

  • Creation of the rss xml feed url and the xml itself

    Hello all.
I know this question has been answered before I think and I get most of the answer, BUT
I want to put my podcasts on the itunes lib and know that I have to submit the rss xml.
My issue is that I don't know where I put it physically.
I publish a web site thru iweb, no problem. If I add a blank page to the site and call the page "rss.xml", then add a text box to the page, then place the xml for the podcast in it. Will that work if i submit the entire URL to itunes?
I created the blank page and called the page rss.xml, then navigated to the page and in the address bar the last part of the URL was".html". That does not seem correct, but I am pretty much new to this so I am not sure.
    Please help if you can.
    Here is my website:
    http://web.mac.com/davescida/iWeb/Early_riser/rss.xml.html
I just don't know what I am doing wrong and I don't think it should be this hard...
    Thanks much
    Dave

I'm quite new to the whole podcast thing and it took me a while to wrap my head around exactly what and RSS feed is, how it works and what you do with it. I'm still learning.
However, here's what I do now: the XML file is like its own web page. You can't create a blank HTML document and just name it RSS feed or whatever. You need to either hand code the file or use an RSS feed creator program. There are some shareware programs that do that, but I am having difficulty with them. Think of the XML file as the exact same thing as an HTML file (web page). So you need to place the file on your web site or web srever that is hosting your podcast. For example, my podcast audio file is located inside a folder on my web site called "podcast". The XML file (RSS feed file) is also located inside that folder. Therefore the web address is: http://www.mysite.com/podcast/mypodcast.xml
That is what gets submitted to podcast directories and to iTunes. If it is created correctly, that XML document will contain ALL of the information needed to tell everyone about your podcast (description, etc.) and where the audio file actualy is so it can be downloaded automatically by iTunes.
    I hope this makes sense.

  • I have a canon MX7600 multifunction printer. My security setting allow connection with the printer. If I disable the firewall it works fine. If the firewall is running I get a dialog box every time I print asking for permission. How do I fix this?

I have a canon MX 7600 multifunction printer. Each  time I print I get a dialog box asking for permission to allow connections to the printer. This box stays on my screen for a few seconds, if I don't click allow I get a communication error which then requires me to delete the job and start over. I contacted Canon and proceeded with their suggestions to no avail. They now say it is an Apple issue. My security settings are set to allow connection to the canon printer. If I disable the firewall it works fine, once I enable the firewall the problem returns.  This issue is a royal pain. Any suggestions on how to fix it short of buying a new printer?

  • What's the fix for this error: Can't create the file "feed.xml."

I try to publish my site from iWeb but I get an error which is below.
    Publish Error
Can’t create the file “feed.xml.” The disk may be damaged or full, or you may not have sufficient access privileges.
    Anyone know the fix?

Whether 'feed.xml' is the first file it is trying to upload, indicating a general failure to connect, or whether it's choked at that particular point would be the question. It would be worth your getting an FTP program if you don't already have one - Cyberduck is free - and checking whether any files at all have been uploaded.
Is this the first time you've tried to publish or are you updating an existing site? If it's the first you should check carefully that your settings are correct, in particular the 'path' which varies between different hosts and may be blank or may be something like 'public.html' or 'htdocs' - this would lead to the actual webspace which may not be the root level as you access the FTP server.
You could also try publishing to a local folder - create a special folder somewhere and specify it when setting iWeb to do this, check the contents are OK, then upload the contents of the folder (not the folder itself) using Cyberduck.
