I recently purchased the Zen Nano Plus GB. WOW!!! Lousy software...
() The device automatically shutoff after playing a song. Of course, I downloaded the firmware update (fyi - the instructions are inaccurate; secondly, they do not work). After contacting tech support to resolve my problem, the "customer service representati've" walked through steps (which I had already attempted six times) and proceeded to tell me that he "needed to get to other calls because there was a queue"...nevermind the fact, he hadn't solved my problem.
(2) Called tech support back...No help. Either I could mail it in or take it back to the store. Unfortunately, I elected to take it back to the store for a replacement. BIG MISTAKE!!!
(3) Ran into the EXACT SAME PROBLEMS
NOTE TO CREATIVE LABS!!! Get your software and tech support correct. I downloaded about 2 songs on the second device to test it out...a combo of DRM file (from MSN Music) and unprotected songs from my library. After being able to successfully play these songs, I decided to add additional songs to the device. That's when the problem started. After reformatting and re-installing software a bazillion times, I've decided to take this piece of garbage back to the store.
GOING TO SANDISK!!!!

Hopefully this "auto shutdown" is just an item that he doesn't have set up correctly as I am interested in purchasing the 32 gig version of this player. I am just waiting to see what happens with prices and what Creative does do to improve any problems with it. I will agree with you Montari that the first generation products do tend to have some bugs. However, this may be a first generation in the "Zen" family, but... this is not their first player with video and Mp3 capabilities. Those bugs should be ironed out by now. A few problems here and there with?some things getting corrupted and getting by during production just happens. These software related issues seem to be a fairly common amongs most of? the different types of Creative players. I'm not saying everyone has issues but there are way too many people that experience the same problems to no fault of their own. Creative either needs to do something with their quality control or start having better customer service and doing what is right and taking care of the customers that have paid good money for their players and do have these issues!?I don't want an iPod but an iPod or a Zune HDD player seems to be the best deal as far as disc space for the money right now. They play video too! So unless that 32 gig player comes down in price and some of the software issues get fixed, I will be going to a different co.. I am hoping Creative will get better but it seems to be a very slow process.

  • Very Disappoined in Creative Microphoto? Can u do anythi

    Alright heres my story its really bad luck? or is it just a crappy mp3 player?k, here it goes. About maybee 7 months ago i bought a 4 gb microphoto mp3 player off amazon. IT was really kul, just my battery didnt last more than 0 min. Sent it in to creative and they replaced it with an 8gb which was really nice of them. TO bad that locked up on me within a month. Got a new from walmart, same kind, and i had this for couple months and this locked up and dosent turn on anymore. Iam very? careful with my players and theres barly even any scratches on it. Like is it possible to send in my broken mp3 player and get a new casue this is crazy? i've gon threw 3 creative microphotos withink like 8 months...wtf? :angry:?U think its possible creative will see that i have had a very rough time and send me another? Cause sertainly u ppl agree thats crazy and shouldnt happen. Plus now iam out of an mp3 player for like a month, long car rides to college and back and walks to classes will be boring...

    You won't know one way or the other until you ask THEM, not us. We are fellow users of the Creative products we don't get to sway the company's hand if we feel sorry for you. Contact Creative Support (you know how, you have done it before) and you won't have to go through any more anxiety wondering.

  • IPhone disappoinment

    Can someone tell me why my $600 iPhone wont allow me to use songs that I have in the iPod area as a ringtone? Even free cellular phones allow this! Why are there no games? I can't beleive a phone this expensve and advanced is missing so many of the usual features included on far less expensive phones!

    The fact that people have figured out ways to use songs as ringtones by using unsanctioned tools proves that the capability can exist. It just doesn't at the moment in a way that won't screw up your phone. There are also a few other standard "cell phone" functions that would be nice to have that don't exist at the moment, like voice recognition dialing. That doesn't mean that they won't exist. That just means that in the priority order of things to release on this product Apple hasn't had those reach the top of the list yet.
    However what you are paying $600 for is one of the most advanced uses of integrated touch screen, software, sensor and communications technology that has ever been put on the market in that size of device. Every time I use the phone I marvel at what it does. I have never in my life held a cell phone that when you hold it on its side automatically re-orients the screen presentation from portrait to landscape and will change what it shows me based on that change. Or a cell phone that can sense the difference in light from being next to my ear to being away from my head to automatically show me the dial pad because it knows enough to save the battery power by keeping the screen dark when it is next to my head but to light it up when it is away so that I can dial. Or a cell phone that will show me a list of my voicemail messages so that I can pick what I want to listen to when I have 10 of them, when I know from looking at who left them that only one of them is urgent. Or one that when I request a list of restaurants in a zip code will plot them out on a map and then when I touch one of them will give me the option of taking me to the restaurants website to read the menu. Or a cell phone that I could just walk around with most of the time instead of carting around my phone, my video iPod and my laptop.
    As much as I would like ringtones and voicedial, I wouldn't pay $600 to get those. However, I would and did pay $600 to get everything else, and would still even if I couldn't ever hear my favorite song when the phone rang.

  • IPhone 5s (new) has terrible reception, 5 PICS included. -115 db reading!?!

    I just got an iPhone 5s. FIRST THING I noticed when I was getting ready to walk out the Verizon store - my iPhone 5s was reading "3 bars of 3G service"  inside the Verzon store. What!? Every other device in the store has bull 5 FULL bars of LTE service (I know stores have their own boosters inside) but even with the booster I was getting only 3 bars 3G service inside the store!! I went back inside and asked the lady at the counter, she said it was "normal for the phone to have bad reception and switch between LTE and 3G during first day".... I didn't really believe her, but I said okay and left figuring I'd wait 24 hours to test it. As I figured, that wasn't true. The iPhone 5s has been having both poor reception and worse speeds on the same Wifi compared to both the iPhone and iPhone 4s, side by side.
    Right now, In my home I CONSTANTLY locked onto one 1 single bar of LTE service. The coverage map shows I am in a full LTE area, and my street is a full LTE area. So it's not that. If I turn "LTE OFF" the bars increase to 3 to 4 bars. This means that the LTE signal is weak at my home. But I'm NOT turning LTE off, why would I want an iPhone 5s if I wanted to use 3G service?? The iPhone 5s is suppose to have better LTE reception and more bands....BUT: THE LAST PICTURE SHOWS THE iPhone 5s in 3G mode vs the iPhone 4s in 3G mode, and yet again the iPhone 5s has worse reception..
    I've tried to: turn off LTE, turn it back on. RESTART network settings. HARD reset phone over 4 times.. I've done an icloud back up over 3 times. Nothing has improved it. After looking at the pics, is this NORMAL for the iPhone 5s to have these problems? Should I exchange it in back for the regular iPhone 5?? I still have time left to exchange it. I don't think a NEW iPhone 5s will fix the problem, as I've read online the 5s has MANY reception issues...Although I suppose I could try an exchange one time, but the iPhone 5s still has problems after the exchange will they still let me switch back to the iPhone 5? (It's only been 3 days, so still 12 days remaining). I would ask a customer service rep, but they aren't very honest so I will not take their word for it.

    iPhone 5s ON THE LEFT with the iPhone 4s on the right. The 5s only has 1 bar. The iPhone 4s has many bars. But bars aren't everything, so here's them in field test mode:

    The Verizon 5s on left has a -115 DB reading (that's HORRIBLE) vs the Verizon 4s that has a -80 DB reading (good)
    PIC #3 (BELOW): This is showing that even on the SAME Wifi, in the same spot, the 5s is pulling SLOWER speeds, pretty big difference. I've ran this test 20+ tests, same results every time the iPhone 5s loses sometimes by 1mbps othertimes by 5+ mbps, again on the same Wifi in same spot.
    Pic #4 (BELOW) :Here is the test where the 5s came VERY CLOSE to the 4s in terms of download Speed, but LOOK AT THE PING, HUGE PING DIFFERENCE. Again SAME Wifi in SAME spot.
    Notice the 5s has a ping of 45? While the 4s has a ping of 18? Big difference. Also the 5s had 1.88 upload, while the 4s had 3.13 upload.....
    Pic #5: I just thought I'd compare the Verizon 5s to a Verizon LG flip-phone... Even the flip-phone gets better service!!!
    This is just pathetic... The iPhone is suppose to have TWO great Atennea, and the improved technology over the years is suppose to have BETTER reception.. Nope, not on mine. The flip phone constantly gets 4+ bars of service, somtimes full.

    The 5s on the left has a -94 DB reading, while the iPhone 4s has a -84 DB reading. THEY ARE BOTH ON 3G MODE, side by side. Yet still, even if I turn on iPhone 5s to 3G only it still has worse quality.... I've tested everything I can think of, and the iPhone 5s is doing worse in everything!!

    BTW, I have done 25 speed tests witin the last 2 hours ALL IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. Verizon LTE network is averaging about 6mbps download speed, where in the store they where doing 40mbps++. That's a huge difference. In some areas when I got 5 full bars of LTE, I did a speed-test assuming I'd be blazing fast. Results? 1st result: 10.23mbps with 5 full bars of LTE..... Another test with 5 full bars of LTE got me 6.52mbps. That's bad, with FULL bars of LTE and near a tower, and using an iPhone 5s getting 6mbps download on FULL bars of LTE??? What?? My AT&T iPhone 5 always got at least 20mbps MINIMUM with 5 bars of LTE, it never got 6.52 mbps download speed with a full 5 bars of LTE like my Verizon iPhone 5s is doing... I'm pretty disappoined. I just ported over from AT&T a couple days ago only to find the service is much worse. I hope this is only a bad phone, and not the actual Verizon network. Otherewise I will have to cancel my service and get a refund (I still am within my 14 days return policy for a refund).
    And yes, I have tried taking the case off with no noticable improvements, maybe I'd get 7mbps with no case while I'd get 6mbps with a case on. So a little difference, but still only 1 bar of service in my home, and on my street. Not acceptable.
    I have tried ALL of the following, nothing has worked:
    #1: Reset all network settings (5 times+ tried)
    #2: I've contacted Verizon TECH support and they have manually reset my network settings. Did nothing. Infact, I did TWO speed tests before calling and I was getting around 12mbps in the location I was at. Although I checked and I was within 0.5 miles of 3 different Verizon towers, so that explains the decent speed for the first time.
    THEN after he reset my phone and I powered it off for 5 minutes, I did THREE speed tests: 1st result was 2mbps download, and twice the ping as BEFORE the reset. 2nd result was around 4mbps. And the 3rd result was around 3-5 mbps range. So after the manual resest it got WORSE in the same spot I was standing. Either way, even when I got "decent" speeds it's still pretty darn slow for LTE in a major city... 
    #3: Hard reset (5+ times tried)
    #4: Turning LTE on and Off. This helps the bars, but again I don't want no slow 3G that gives me 0.5mbps download speed, that's useless.
    #5: TOOK OFF THE CASE, and tried. The reception did not increase, but, when running speed tests, I would get about 1mbps faster with the case OFF rather than on. Still, this is not enough. Plus the reception remains at 1 bar in my house, even holding it near the window upstairs. I live in a full LTE area and checked the street coverage, it says I am in a full LTE area....... So not even taking the case off helped reception, it only helped a little bit for speed tests (but 1mbps different on a few tests may not be enough to be certain). So even with NO case, it's doing poorly...
    I switched to Verizon because I thought they had better coverage than AT&T, I actually cancelled my AT&T iPhone 5 and ported it over JUST to get Verizon....I live in Colorado Springs. Now I'm finding out either A.) My phone from the store is defecetive or B). The Verizon network is pretty awful in my city, even though the map shows full LTE coverage,and full LTE coverage in all the surrounding cities too! So I am in a HEAVY LTE coverage area, and town.

  • Lightroom 4.1 problems with book publishing at Blurb

    I've done a travel book using the Lightroom 4.1 bookmaking function with Blurb.  This has been a major headache.  The book is large landscape (13 X 11 inches) with a hardcover image wrap.  It is 124 pages on Proline Pearl Photo paper.  There are 412 images.  Once the book was created I took the time to resize all images to their use in the book to keep the book file to Blurb under the 2 geg limit.  It turned out to be 1.1 geg.
    I created  the book in Lightroom without too much trouble.  Replacing each image with the smaller duplicate was a pain.  Unfortunately Blurb can't deal with my Lightroom 4.1 book file.  They've spent a significant amount of time trying to figure out the problem with this book file. With the book completed I tried to upload multiple times.  The images and pages uploaded ok.  It would then stall out and give a server communication error after 3 or 4 hours had passed. There are evidently some problems with Blurb and Norton, so I turned that off, with no success. I exported the book as a pdf file, trying to get around the server upload issues.  Unfortunately the only choice of pdf version in Lightroom is 1.6.  Blurb only works with X-3, so that did not work.
    After extensive discussions with Blurb individuals I exported the book as a catalog.  This was sent with the images and the .lrcat file to Blurb's drop box. 
    The information below is their email back to me after Blurb worked with the Lightroom book file.
    "Thanks for your patience.
    I was able to open your book project without any issues in Lightroom - unfortunately, I wasn't able to upload it to your account or even export it as a PDF or JPG. As a matter of fact, you had more success with it, as the files never even went through the render process for me. To troubleshoot this, I tried the following:
    - deleting the cover images/text and choosing a new cover layout.
    - deleting the first half of the book project.
    - deleting the second of the book project.
    - deleting all pages of the book, added 20 blank pages, removed the cover image.
    - renaming the project.
    - duplicating the project, then renaming it.
    After each of these, I tried exporting to PDF and uploading to Blurb, but I had no luck. Unfortunately, it seems that your Lightroom book project may have some sort of corruption in it and that your best bet is to contact Lightroom support directly from the link below. They should have more detailed information on helping you with this problem, as Blurb only handles the actual printing of your file.

    I appears to me at this point that using Lightroom 4.1 for book production is a lost cause, and it appears to be a Lightroom problem.  Do others have these issues also.  My plan now is to manually redo the book with the resized images using Blurb's own software.  This has been an painful education and my one major disappoinment with Lightroom.

  • Color change from Photoshop to Keynote

    I have corrected the color of some images in Photoshop CS2 using a color calibrated monitor, converted the images to JPEG and imported them into Keynote. It was disappoining and unexpected to see a significant shift in color with a greenish-yellow tint and incresed saturation. Why is this happening? How can I correct or prevent it from happening?

    What version of Keynote are you using? Version 2 had some known color issues.

    Hello everyone,
    I am seriously considering buying the E90. It seems a good option as I need excel, powerpoint, good browser and email.
    I am not very techy, so my question may sound simple/stupid, but if anyone can help me with it I'd really appreciate it, as it is absolutely key to my decision:
    - I have a windows XP laptop, and my professional emails are on outlook. Will I be able to download my outlook inbox (emails) onto the E90? My purpose is to answer emails from the E90, while travelling, eg on the phone.

    I bought E90 without checking this, expecting it would be syncing emails since it is the new version of communicator. Was living fine with old 9500 , but small and GPS powered E90 was attractive.Although it is a small disappoinment , have a "better than nothing" solution.
    Add a small piece of code to your outlook in order to create a task for each arriving mail , including subject and body, and if you wish to "sync" sent mails do it for the sent mails as well.
    Then you have to just sync your tasks , and you will have all your mails there.
    You dont want to mess with your real tasks , create a new folder in outlook and do the same for this new folder, but you have to manually change folder info in PcSuite and sync twice.
    Since I am not using tasks, it  is working fine for me.
    As I said , it is better than nothing.

    Is the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component really unable to playback HP HL content?
    Im encoding high bitrate media content to mediaservers with my Mac Pro and have used VLC so far to playback the encoded files.
    VLC however doesent loop flawlessly so i decided to try QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component.
    To my disappoinment it did not play back the High Profile High Level Mpeg-2 content at all.
    It tried, but no image was visible and only a few digital bleeps could be heard from soundtrack.
    Why call it a playback component if it cant do the job?

  • V20...Hmmm...good luck Nokia only 4 days left

    I realy think that Nokia is not aweare that if they don't relese this softweare in the next 4 days their sales they will be drop down in the near future,because people already give up Nokia products.I confirm that I have 3 friends that they had buy N97 when it came on the market and now they sale it and buy HTC and Iphone.
    For the moment I will keep my phone but in thenear future...well I don't know what to say,I just wait this softweare for 4 days and if it is not shown I will think about it very seriosly.Untill now i've had only Nokia phones and i must say that i was a big fan,but now i'm a little disappoined,and if the V20 it is not shown in the next 4 days I will be moore disapoined.
    I know, you will probably say that you must test very well before came out,but if you are not sure,better not tell a month just say <it will be out in 2-3-4 months> belive me is better that way insted in what you do.
    Sow Nokia be very careful with what you do because you soon loose a lot of clients,especialy if you don't keep your promise to relese this V20 in October or better said in 4 days sow good luck,you need it if the relese will not be untill 31October

  • Need to uninstall-reinstall CS4

    I have CS4 Design Premium on a Vista Biz 32 bit
    system. It's not an upgrade but a new purchase. The only trial CS4 product I had
    was DW which was removed long before installing CS4. The original install seemed
    fine...no known issues. Been successfully using PS, InD, DW & Illustrator.
    Just learned that my Flash install doesn't work...also my Distiller.
    I have a ticket with Adobe. They said I had too
    many fonts installed which seems like a crock. But I managed to get down to 230
    fonts and tried a new install of Flash from Safe Mode. Still no joy. I didn't
    know at the time that Distiller was also broken. I'm not sure if trying the
    CS4Clean Script is appropriate or not. I haven't wanted to uninstall my working
    stuff as I'm WORKING!
    But I have an open day on Saturday. So what would
    be the most effective approach to try to get my entire suite running? I don't
    want to loose what I already have working. Should I do a complete uninstall, run
    the clean up, reboot and then try a complete new reinstall? Are the fonts an
    issue? Should I get them all off again? I know nothing else can be open
    including AV. Anything else I need to know to make this work? I do not want to
    spend my entire weekend on this.

    Did you know Adobe Tech is closed on the weekends? I sure didn't. That was a
    big disappoinment. So I went it alone today and got absolutely nowhere...
    Here's what I just posted to them...
    I got down to 220 fonts despite everyone on the message board saying they
    have 1000+. I completely removed CS4 including using Windows Install Clean
    up and CS4 Clean also. I rebooted, had everything closed and off (AV,
    firewall, no internet connection)...reinstalled. Experienced the following
    issues:
    1) when installing it says I need a Vista service pack but I'm up to date
    2) every time I right click on anything it initialized Acrobat Installer
    again. This was my previous ticket which you guys never solved. But I solved
    it using Windows Install Clean Up. So I'll do that again this time.
    3) When I tried to uninstall Adobe Media Player I got the attached error.
    4) When I first rebooted after install I got a error that there was already
    a copy of Distiller running.
    5) I STILL cannot access Flash (all other programs appear at this time to be
    functional). It always crashes at the same point, when it's building the
    workspace.
    The only trial version I had installed was for DW and it's long gone and
    cleaned off. I still have CS3 installed. This is not an upgrade but a full
    new version.
    I have a lot of time into this. Your response time on the last issue was
    more than a week and by then I'd solved the problem. I was going to try to
    work with tech on the phone today but you're not open on the weekends!
    Pretty sad. I hope I get some timely and helpful answers from you this time.
    I don't know what else to try.

  • Tx2z - CPU non-functional?

    Hi, my tx2z died on me this morning around 5 am when I tried to turn it on to finish up some engineering homework. The computer power on, fan on for a bit, but it got stuck on the black screen with blinking caplock and numlock light.
    I don't know if this have anything to do with it, but now I think about it, it might be related. Last time I use it, it was the same day, or night, around midnight. I was working on some physics homework on the laptop with my friend. So I finished my part, and went over to help her. So when I tried to show her how to solve the equation on the calculator, we got a static electirc shock, and I didn't even touch her. Ok, so we laughed about it since we are doing stuffs dealing with electric fields. When we finally finished at 1, I went back to my dorm with the laptop, put it down to let it charge. Then when I try to do my engineering homework soon after with the computer, I was shocked again. This time by touching the comptuer.
    So I believe my Tx2z died because of "CPU non-functional" according to the LED Blink Sequence table. The LED only blinked once in each cycle. Is that correct?
    So if this is the case, what are my options? I doubt I am still under warrenty, since I just got the laptop before going to college 2 years ago. CPU non-funcational means that the CPU is dead and need replacement, right? And if I am correct, it is usually not possible to install new cpu in laptop. So I need to send it in and let them replace it? Will it be cheaper with I just go buy a new computer?
    I am still hoping that it is not the CPU problem, since I really like this laptop, it is really not that old, and I have been taking care of it. It does overheat very easily though, sometime burn my hand when I am doing some 3D modeling / rendering. But even on power saving mode, when I am just checking email, it still overheated.
    Any replies, helps, suggestions will be appreciated, thanks.

    yup, I have pretty much given up by now. I started to make a list of hardwares that I want to buy to assemble a new computer. Tablet is good, but the fact that it can't last me through college, that's just sad. So $400 to repair, and the new computer that I am planning to put together cost around $500. I think I will go with the new one with way more processing power, way better cooling, and most important, the ability to upgrade / replace broken parts without having to pay a fortune.

    So as for the tablet, I am starting to harvest parts from it. So far, ripped the hard drive out to recover some data and to use as an portable hard drive. Will probably take the RAM out in a day or two. The ony big disappoinment about not fixing the tablet is that the touchscreen is pretty much wasted, since I have no clue how to utilize that. Wish I have taken Computer or Electrical Engineering. 

  • Dead / Stuck Pixels MBA

    Hi everyone,
    Just got a brand new MBA from JB Hi Fi. Much to my disappoinment the moment I turned it on there were a clump of dead or stuck pixels just to the right of the middle of my screen. Now I'm no expert on the size of a single pixel, but this is certianly noticable and may indeed be more than one together.
    I took my MBA back to JBs and they currently hold it there. They told me that they had to wait until Monday morning to call Apple to see if I can get a replacement.
    In the meantime, can anyone tell me the chances of getting a new MBA? I haven't even had it for 24 hours! Repair work is not an option for me because last time I had an Apple laptop repaired it came back all scratched up. Besides, surely since it was defective out of the box it can warrant replacement.
    Has anyone experienced pixel problems like this? How did you go with Apple?
    What steps should I be taking right now?

    I have had the same thing occur to me in the past with an Apple laptop (note: it occurs with all laptops since they use common components)... With my bad luck, it has occured to me twice now -- with both a new (within the return period), and another time almost a year later within the AppleCare period. The first one was a dead pixel, but I had another defect also with the case. Both times, I was fortunate they helped me out, and I will explain my situation below.
    I would think that if it is brand new, you should return it and demand a new replacement computer (or all of your money back). You should not have to get it "repaired" which essentially makes it a "refurbished" computer. Even if it is only one or a few pixels, it should not do this within 24 hrs.
    Now if it were outside the return period (such as more than 14 days), you may have a more difficult time. There apparently is an acceptable number of pixels allowed, but this all depends on the circumstances. I had a stuck bright red pixel almost dead center and some grey areas elsewhere... not good at all, and especially when showing my work to clients. I had it replaced under AppleCare.
    I hope this helps you out, and I would also call up Apple and let them know. If you are not satisfied with the vendor, you might be able to work something out with Apple directly. Good luck.

  • Does Premiere Pro CS5 mercury engine work with my imac 27 inch?

    I have a 27 inch imac that I bought 4 months ago.   Yesterday I upgraded my Creative Suite Production Premium CS4 to CS5.   It costs a lot more do to that when you live in Japan (about $300  more).  I installed it all and to my disappoinment I can't access PPro's  new mercury engine on 64 bit.  I read the specs and I thought my  computer is capable.  Can somebody please tell me if my specs are good?   imac is a total disappoinment in that they will not replace any  parts!!!   I have two very expensive items (imac 27 inch and Adobe  CS5).  Can I not utilize the mercury engine in P PRo?  I will be so sad  if that is the case.   I've called apple and they say they won't change  the graphic card or CPU if those are my problems. Which means I'll have  two great things, my new imac and new Adobe soft and I can't use them  together.
    Anyways, here are my specs.  I hope someone can shed  some light on this matter for me.  I'm hoping I just don't have my PP settings right.  Thanks in advance!

      Thank you kindly for your reply.  I figured I was only able to use software only MPE as that is why it is all greyed out in my preferences.  I was hoping I had not done something simple that would fix the issue.
    So after reading a lot on here about MPE my question is this:
    Is soft only MPE 64 bit?  Is it still significantly better than my CS4 P.Pro that I had or did I just waste a crap of money on the upgrade?  What does soft only MPE have to offer?  so far my editing doesn't really seem to be much faster but I haven't put it to test yet. And of course, the render line is always red and not yellow like all those fantastic videos show when they're bragging about how cool Hardware accelerated MPE is.
    If feel like I got robbed.

    Oh, one more thing.  In the near future, "could" a driver update for my ATI Radeon HD 4850 possibly fix this issue?  imacs will NOT replace CPU or GPU.  For that, I am really, really annoyed.  The main reason I bought this computer with the specs was to use Adobe at its best.

  • Anyconnect VPN log in failure

    Today we had a very disturbing failure.  We have a fully functional VPN on our ASA 5510 adaptive security device running 8.2(5).  I was setting up a new user on a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit machine using FireFox instead of Internet Explorer.
    The initial connection worked fine but the download of the client failed.  I clicked on the link provided to manually download the client and the Cisco VPN client appeared to download and install properly.  However, when I attempted to open the VPN after the client install it again said that the automatic download of the client failed and it offered the link to download the client again, which I did with exactly the same result.
    I thought that perhaps the problem was with FireFox so I opened Internet Explorer and entered the url for the VPN.  After the user-id and password were entered (and validated) I received the same error about the client download failure and I selected the link to manually download just like I did the other 3 times in FireFox.  This time it actually looked like it was working as I received the certificate error about AnyConnect (which I normally get) however, the login screen remained on the page after I clicked on the certificate error to continue.  
    The PC appeared to hang so I ended the VPN session and then attempted to reestablish the connection.  This time when I entered the user-id and password it came back saying "Invalid Logon".  I tried again and received the same result.  I tried a different user but no joy... same result... invalid login.  I went to a different PC; one that had been working fine only a few minutes earlier, and I received the same invalid login message no matter which user-id and password I entered.  Something had happened that was blocking all users from connecting to the VPN.
    I didn't want to believe that attempting to connect to the VPN using FireFox on a Windows 7 64 bit machine could somehow bring my Cisco VPN down but I was out of options... so I rebooted the ASA and much to my disappoinment the reboot fully restored the VPN service. 
    Now if this were a $75 dollar LinkSys Router instead of a several thousand dollar security device I would just shake it off, but how can it be that a failed connection attempt could bring a Cisco ASA 5510 VPN to its knees?  I thought that maybe I had exceeded the license max for SSL VPN connections... I think its 2... but if that was the cause then why wouldn't the message indicate such instead of just saying "invalid login".  Also, there were no other open connectionsat the time, unless all the failed downlaod attempts counted as active sessions.  I also had already checked in ASDM and no active VPN sessions were listed.
    Any guidence anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    I went through the issue and I think that you have only 2 license for SSL and when you try connection multiple times, nomatter whether the install took place correctly or it failed but the sessions were built on the ASA and after building the session, ASA pushed those files on the client machines. I know it does give you a irrelevant message saying "Invalid Logon" however if you will run the debug web svc 255 on the ASA (using SSH/Telnet), you will see a message:
    Session could not be established. Session limit of 2 reached
    You are saying that you did not see any session on the ASA, so could you please get the output of the command:
    debug web anyconnect 255 (or debug web svc 255) and share with us.
