"Disc Insertion - Insert a recordable DVD disc"

I get the above error message when trying to burn a project to a DVD. Our eMac will does not 'recognize' DVD+R discs. Says disc is unrecordable. (We upgraded to Tiger 10.4.6 just so we could put movies on DVDs.) We have tried 4.7GB Verbatim and 4.7GB Maxell with no luck. This is the information from the profiler on the CD/DVD drive:

Very frustrating - can anyone tell me what's going on or what to try?

There's your problem. It says it will only burn DVD-R, not +R. The only solution I know of is to get -R DVDs instead.

    Get error message "No disc is in the drive. Insert a recordable DVD disc."
    After multiple attempts with "Staples Brand" DVD-R (up to 16x Speed) and DVD-RW (up to 4x Speed) Recordable & Rewritable Disc. I tried every disc in the package (12). None of them will burn? The DVD player still functions. So I don't think it's a hardware problem. Any body got any ideas?

    I have burned to "Staples" media in the past (about a year ago).
    Staples, and many other 'big box' stores, buy their own brand media from low bidders and so it can come from many sources.
    If it was dust, wouldn't that also effect the read ability?
    Not necessarily.
    I was leaning towards the "Cheap Media" as the main problem
    So am I.

  • IDVD Error: "Insert a recordable DVD disc"

    I created a project in iDVD ready to be burned but each time I insert a disc, before any burning begins, it is ejected with this error message: "Insert a recordable DVD disc". I have tried several different DVDs but nothing works. I came across this problem in a lot of forums but with no successful answer. Does anyone know what to do in this situation???

    iMovie doesn't do any authoring of the disks, so of course it has 'no issue.' iDVD is the authoring program that actually accesses the DVD disk with a direct burn. Disk Utility recognizes almost any disk, but it also is not an authoring program. When using DU for burning, you are burning from the disk image created by iDVD.
    For the best burn success, follow all the others' advice. I use only Verbatim DVD-R disks, burn at 4x or less and have never had a burn issue. My disks play on all DVD players that I have tried. The only issue has been a particular brand of DVD player that misreads some audio tracks, but the other players read all of it just perfectly.

  • "Insert a recordable DVD disc"

    No matter what I do, iDVD keeps saying "Insert a recordable DVD disc."
    I've got DVD-R and DVD+R discs, but it won't take either.
    This is a brand-new iMac.

    call support. If its new you must see if it is a problem with the drive itself.

  • Recorded DVD not recognized in drive

    I inserted a recorded DVD (DVD+RW) in my buddy's MacBook running Tiger, and a dialog box says the disc is a blank disc. It isn't, because it plays in other Macs, PC's and DVD players. is there a special setting he should be using to be able to play this DVD?
    TIA

    Go out and buy an external hard drive known to boot that kind of Mac.
    Run the operating system installer that came with the machine and install on that hard drive after formatting it GUID with Disk Utility's Partition section.
    After installing the operating system on that drive, select it from Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Startup Disc and click on restart.
    Insert the dodgy DVD+RW.
    If it fails to work, you know the optical drive is the one that won't play those kinds of discs, or it is damaged.

  • I need assistance in burning an imovie to a DVD.  I've done this before, but am having problems this go around.  When I get to the import section and insert the blank dvd it runs a few seconds and ejects it.  Any ideas?

    I am struggling with getting the imovie I just created to burn onto a DVD.  I have done this before, I'm following the tutorial for imovie '09 and it isn't working after several attempts.  Any suggestions?  When I get to the import phase and insert the blank dvd it runs a few seconds and then spits it out.

    I bought a 47LA6200 TV and a BP530 blue ray player. I have my cable box hooked up to HDMI 1, I have my blue ray hooked up to HDMI 2, and my XBox 360 to HDMI 3. I have my cable box hooked up to my older JVC RX880V stereo digital optical to digital optical without any 5.1 problems at all.
    My TV digital optical out is hooked up to my stereo digital optical port 2 without any 5.1 problems either, sort of.
    My BP530 is hooked up to my stereo digital coax to digital coax but I cannot get any 5.1 sound at all. Not through any of the digital channels on the stereo at all.
    The player only comes through as standard stereo through all 4 speakers and I am not sure if it is coming through the base speaker at all.
    I have tried every setting on both the TV and the blue ray player to no avail. I have even tried to not use the digital on my blue ray but when the stereo is set to play from my tv optical I still don't get 5.1 sound.
    When I do not use the TV optical out but I do use the digital coax out from the DVD player I still cannot play my DVDs in 5.1. I have new HDMI 15gbps HDMI cables and a new digital coaxial cable so I don't think it is a cable thing.
    The real question is how do I get to hear my blue ray and DVD discs in 5.1 sound? Will this work if I exchange my blue ray player for a Denon 3D blue ray or other player?

  • Can you use ESB to insert multiple records into a Database

    We have an XML file that has a Parent/Child relationship.
    In situation 1 we have a single parent record in the xml file. We can insert the record into the database successfully.
    In situation 2 we have a parent and a an associated child record. By using a filter expression to identify the existence of the child record we can route to the first DB Adapter to insert the parent then to the second DB Adapter to insert the child.
    Is this final scenario logical and also possible.
    Situation 3 we have multiple child records associated to a single parent. So we would first insert the parent record then insert all the child records.
    Thanks

    I use PL/SQL for this if you are using Oracle.
    Have a look at this post, it is for AQ but the concept can be used for PL/SQL

  • Inserting multiple records into a database from a table

    I have a dynamic table with rows upto 10. i am trying to insert all the records in these rows into a database ( msaccess)
    table name: Table1 ( in my form )
    Database table : movies_comments ( as posted in stefan's forums ).
    table columns: username, movieid, comments
    i am using the following code.
    Database.ExecSQL() function is as posted in stefcamerons forums.
    var tlength = xfa.resolveNode("form1.#subform[0].Table1.Row1[*]").length;
    xfa.host.messageBox("tlength is :" +tlength);
    for ( var i = 1; i <= tlength; i++)
    var username = xfa.resolveNode("form1.#subform[0].Table1.Row1["+i+"].user_name").rawValue;
    var movieID = xfa.resolveNode("form1.#subform[0].Table1.Row1["+i+"].movie_id").rawValue;
    var commentS = xfa.resolveNode("form1.#subform[0].Table1.Row1["+i+"].comment_").rawValue;
    Database.ExecSQL("INSERT INTO movie_comments (username, movieId, comment) VALUES ('username','movieID', 'commentS');");
    i am trying to insert multiple records using the code above. But i am getting error
    GeneralError: Operation failed.
    XFAObject.resolveNode:1:XFA:form1[0]:#subform[0]:Button1[0]:click
    SOM expression returned list when single result was expected
    suggest me an alternate way to insert multiple records from a table into a database.
    thank Q

    figured it out. I changed the ...OR (alternative names = colname) in the recordset to ...OR (alternative names LIKE %colname%). Works like a charm now- the result of a good night's sleep.

  • Insert multiple records into a table(Oracle 9i) from a single PHP statement

    How can I insert multiple records into a table(Oracle 9i) from a single PHP statement?
    From what all I've found, the statement below would work if I were using MySQL:
         insert into scen
         (indx,share,expire,pitch,curve,surface,call)
         values
         (81202, 28, 171, .27, 0, 0, 'C' ),
         (81204, 28, 501, .25, 0, 0, 'C' ),
         (81203, 17, 35, .222, 0, 0, 'C' ),
         (81202, 28, 171, .27, 2, 0, 'C' ),
         (81204, 28, 501, .20, 0, 1, 'C' ),
         (81203, 28, 135, .22, 1, 0, 'C' )
    The amount of records varies into the multiple-dozens. My aim is to utilize the power of Oracle while avoiding the i/o of dozens of single-record inserts.
    Thank you,
    Will

    You could look at the INSERT ALL statement found in the documentation here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96540/statements_913a.htm#2133161
    My personal opinion is that you probably won't see any benefit because under the hood I think Oracle will still be doing single row inserts. I could be wrong though.
    The only way to confirm was if you did a test of multiple inserts vs an INSERT ALL, that is if the INSERT ALL met your requirements.
    HTH.

    Yeah. Whenever Oracle sees TO_CHAR('string_literal1', 'string_literal2), it implicitly converts it to TO_CHAR(TO_NUMBER('string_literal1'), 'string_literal2). That's why an error in trigger occurs.

    I'm very green with web development and am just trying my hand at PHP. I've set up a database with Mysql and phpmyadmin  those are working fine.
