Discoverer EUL5 Status Workbooks

Hi,
We have tried to load the EUL5 Status Workbooks in to our EUL.
Two of the 5 workbooks have loaded successfully but "Query Statistics", "Data Definition" and "Workbook Management" have not been imported. This appears to be an Access Privs issue, but we cannot resolve.
Ran the EUL5.sql & EUL5_APPS.sql scripts as the EUL Owner and tried to import both as the EUL Owner and SYSADMIN, but neither worked.
Any help appreciated.
Michael.

Hi,
You will have to run these scripts again, they create objects in the EUL which will be different.

  • Unable to install EUL status workbooks??

    I am trying to install EUL status workbooks using EUL4.eex but i get the following error:
    ORA-02289 sequence does not exist
    I have already executed eul4.sql & eul4_apps.sql successfully. But i don't know what is missing there?
    I am using disco 4. Apps mode eul.
    Does anyone know what is actually needed for importing this file?
    Thanks

    Hello amib004,
    As far as I know Windows Update can't be run in safe mode. With that being said I have seen where installing multiple updates can conflict with each other. Try disabling all updates from installing and installing the failed updates one at a time.

  • Discoverer EUL and workbook documentor

    Recently, my current client asked me if there was any easy way to document all the EUL information in one file. I generated the below pdf document
    Check this http://www.appsbi.com/discoverer_eul_snapshot_report.pdf
    Sample Discoverer EUL and Workbook Generated Document,
    but before I present this to my client I would like your opinion on whether the document is presentable, does it have all the necessary information, any flaws, any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Nilesh

    I have played a bit with info-captor, but to no great detail.
    I agree it boils down to ease of use and ease of maintenance, but proficiency with a development tool also has a big part to play in it. Where I would choose reports or even Disco, you chose Infocaptor, and others would use yet another tool. Client requirements also play a part in it as well - mine wanted a PDF available from their intranet. So I am pushing the pdf out of OR, and making it available on the web. If they had wanted a dashboard, or something a bit more interactive, then OR was not going to be the appropriate tool.
    As I mentioned in my previous post - it is a slick looking report. But as Michael commented, it looks to be directed more to an admin than an end user (which may be fine depending on the audience).

  • Discoverer EUL Management workbooks

    We're running Discoverer 10.1.2.0.2. I didn't do the install, but remember seeing something about workbooks that can help you interrogate the EUL setup. Does anyone know where I can locate those?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    In the Oracle Discoverer Admin home on the workstation there should be EUL5.eex file in the discoverer/sql directory. If you import this file into your EUL the EUL management business area, folders and workbooks will be created.
    Hope that helps,

  • Discoverer Viewer & Scheduled Workbooks

    Is it possible to run a scheduled a workbook and view the results in Discoverer Viewer?

    Hi Tim
    Well just the way the file is put together, like is it using SID= or SERVER=, does it use SERVER=DEDICATED, do you have one ADDRESS= or multiple?
    To make sure everything is right, rename both TNSNAMES and SQLNET.ORA files, then suse Net Configuration Assistant to set up a connection. Then compare that with what you have already and make the necessary changes.
    I also noticed that Russ has made a posting concerning a similar error. You should take a look. Its either in here on the Discoverer forum.

  • Error while migrating discoverer Workbook

    Hi All,
    I am migrating Business Area and Work book from one instance(QA) to another(Production) DB instance.
    I have successfully did export of business area and import in production instance.
    For workbook migration I have followed the below mentioned steps.
    1) Open QA instance and open the required workbook.
    2) Do "Save As" of the workbook to local machine as ".DIS".
    3)Then Login to Prodcution Open the workbook from the local machine. But in that case it gives following error
    " Cannot join tables.Item dependency "" not found in EUL. "
    "Attempt to open workbook failed" Anyone can help me to solve this issue. Please.
    Thanks
    Alaka

    Hi Janet
    Here are some more notes from my private collection of tips and tricks:
    Discoverer workbooks are very picky when it comes to opening up against an end user layer. Basically, here is what happens:
    All EUL objects have an ID number and a name. When Discoverer saves a workbook it saves both the ID number and the name of every essential object (business area, folders, items and joins) that is used within the workbook. The next time Discoverer opens the workbook it looks at the ID numbers of the objects and tries to find them in the EUL. If it cannot find an object by its ID number it tries to locate it using the object's name. If an object cannot be located either by its ID number or by its name you will get the dreaded Item Dependency error.
    OK, having got that out of the way, if you delete a folder from within the EUL and re-create it you will lose the ID number of the folder and all of its associated objects (items and joins). The only way Discoverer will be able to open this workbook now is if everything within the folder is named EXACTLY the same way (including underscores and casing of the name), otherwise the workbook will not open. Discoverer will report the error message that you are seeing.
    So what can you do? Well, you need to have some way of finding out what the old folder name(s), item names and join names were. Also, you need to make sure that all items that were not hidden are not hidden now. There is no need to worry about the names of hierarchies or lists of values. These are not stored within a workbook and are only hooked in at runtime.
    Seems like you have to somehow painstakingly determine what all of the item and join names were in your old folder(s) and re-create them 100% the same way in the new folder(s). By the way, when the workbook gives you the error message does it also give you an opportunity to assign al alternative item to the item that it can no longer find a value for? This may work but, in my experience, usually doesn't!! It only works if the missing dependency is an item, it won't work if the error is being caused because you have got a join name wrong. Unfortunately, joins MUST have the same name exactly otherwise there is just no way to open the workbook.

  • How to open a defult workbook from Discoverer Plus

    Hi all,
    Is it possible in Discoverer Plus for a user to open a pre defined worksheet in a workbook when he logs in without having to select the workbook and then select the worksheet?
    Please advise how to achive this.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you all.
    Yjk

    Hi Yjk
    This is possible but you will have to alter the URL call to do it and add the workbook name to the end of the URL.
    You can use either the names of workbooks and worksheet or unique IDs of workbooks and worksheets. Using unique IDs is easier and helps avoid encoding problems with long names. Unique IDs are language independent. The following are the URL parameters to use while working with workbooks and worksheets.
    Discoverer Plus Relational:
    Workbooks:
    opendbid=<workbook ID>
    opendbname=<workbook name>
    Worksheets:
    sheetid=<worksheet ID>
    sheet=<worksheet name>
    Discoverer Viewer:
    Workbook:
    wbk=<workbook ID>
    wb=<workbook name>
    Worksheet:
    wsk=<worksheet ID>
    ws=<worksheet name>
    Discoverer OLAP:
    Workbooks:
    workbookname=<workbookname>
    Worksheets:
    sheet=<worksheet name>
    Note: Discoverer Plus OLAP uses only workbook and worksheet names.
    Examples below:
    How to Find the Unique IDs of Workbooks and Worksheets
    To find the unique ID of a workbook, use thie workflow:
    1. Launch the Open Workbook from Database wizard
    2. Right-click the workbook name
    3. Select Properties.
    The value of the Identifier field indicates the unique ID of the workbook.
    Alternatively, when the workbook is open, select File | Workbook Properties.
    To find the unique ID of a worksheet, use this workflow:
    1. With the worksheet open, select Edit | Worksheet Properties
    2. The Worksheet Properties dialog box opens.
    3. Click the General tab.
    The value of the Identifier field indicates the unique ID of the worksheet.
    The following URL starts Discoverer Viewer and opens a worksheet with the unique ID "156", which is present in the workbook whose unique ID is "MONTHLY_SALES". The connection ID used is "cf_a101".
    http://<machine.domain>:<port>/discoverer/viewer?cn=cf_a101&wbk=MONTHLY_SALES&wsk=156
    If the connection that is used here is a private connection, the user will be prompted for the password.
    In Plus, the same command is:
    http://<machine.domain>:<port>/discoverer/plus?cn=cf_a101&opendbname=MONTHLY_SALES&sheet=156
    Does this help?

  • Discoverer need a long time to open a workbook

    Hi,
    we have 2 workbooks with over 60 calculations/workbook
    and the discoverer need over 2 min to open the parameter window.
    looks that the discoverer check all calculations if they are valid or not before display the parameter window.
    we had no problems with this 2 workbooks until our DBA's move our DB-Server to a other destination. (time for open 25 sec/workbook)
    now, the network to the new destination is not so fast like the old one.
    a trace gave us the follow information.
    the discoverer send round 50,000 small packages to the DB
    to the old Destination: 1ms/package
    to the new Destination: 10ms/package
    is there a way to disable the check function (Registry?) or know anyone what do the discoverer between "open workbook" and display the parameter window?
    This 2 Workbooks are our most used query's in the company.
    I would greatly appreciate any suggestion you may have which can help in addressing this issue.
    Thanks,
    Maurice

    Maurice,
    Have you discussed this issue with your network administrator? Another place is to check with the DBA if the new DB lacation's storage and memory. To tune the discoverer report itself, you may try to create a materilized view, or have a custom folder for each workbook.

  • Configuring 9ias to access discoverer workbook stored in db.

    hi,
    Can anybody let me know how do u config ur 9ias to access any discovere 3i viewer workbook stored in database.
    thanxs in advance...
    Jagadeeswar Reddy

    Hi Joanne
    Well typically one only links Viewer from within E-Business Suite.
    However, if you're able to set up a button that has a URL link you should be able to connect to Plus. The issue would be whether the user's connection information could be passed this way and, to be totally frank, I have a suspicion that this is not possible. I have a nasty feeling that the user would need to re-authenticate to Plus.
    Viewer is different and it is possible to automatically pass the logged in user's authentication details.
    There are some talented folks in this forum who use E-Business Suite a lot more than I do and if I have made a mistake I know I will be corrected.

  • Sharing Discoverer Workbooks to limited number of Responsibilities

    Hi,
    I have developed multiple discoverer reports (multiple workbooks) in discoverer plus from a partcular responsibility.
    Now when I log out of discoverer plus and log in again selecting a different responsibility, I am able to see all the workbooks which were created initially selecting above responsibility.
    So what is happening is I am able to see all the workbooks from whatever responsibility, I am selecting.
    I want to have a restriction e.g. say workbook 1 & 2 will only be accessible/seen from responsibility1 and not responsibility2.
    Please advise on this as I am trying some workaround as well. Please copy also to : [email protected]

    Hi Rod,
    I experinced one thing while following the below steps:
    1) I created folder-XX_FOLDER in discoverer administartor under the business area - XX_BA from SYSADMIN user(so SYSADMIN is the owner)
    2) Rt Cllicked on XX_BA
    3) Clicked on Security
    4) For the Business Are -> User tab, SYSADMIN user is displayed among the SELECTED user/responsibilities list
    5) I selected SYSADMIN to bring it to the AVAILABLE user/responsibilities list (i.e. I tried to revoking from SYSADMIN)
    6) While dragging from SELECTED to available it displayed a message "You are revoking access to a business area for the currently connected user. Are you sure this is what you wanted to do ?"
    7) I clicked on YES
    8) Next time when I logged into discoverer administrator, I didn't see the business area (XX_BA)
    Could you please let me know how can I retrieve back the XX_BA business area in discoverer administartor. I am pretty sure that it is still available somewhere as the workbook corresponding to XX_BA are still accessible in discoverer plus for SYSADMIN user.

  • Oracle Discoverer with Apps 11.5.10 : Apps server side settings???

    Hi All!
    We have Oracle Apps 11.5.10 set up on our Apps server. The Discoverer Services status is 'started'.
    Can someone tell me what settings are required to be done on Apps server in order to create an EUL or to use the Apps BI reports?
    Is there any note or document that can be useful?
    Thanks and regards,
    Aparna

    Hi Aparna
    If you haven't seen that note or followed its steps yet, take a deep breath because its quite involved. From scratch it will probably take at least a day to go through it. Also, please make sure you follow every step and don't try to jump ahead. Many of the one-liners are very important and if missed will make it not work right.
    The good thing though is that 100s of companies have gone through the same document so you can be reassured that it does work.
    If you've not installed Discoverer in Apps mode yet and you'd like some screenshots of how Apps mode is set up in Discoverer, I have a white paper on my website that walks you through at least that part. Here's a link: http://learndiscoverer.com/downloads/downloads.htm

  • Problem on Portlet for list of workbooks

    Hi,
    I followed the instruction on 'How to use OracleAS Discoverer with OracleAS Portal' on Oracle Application Server Discoverer Configuration Guide.
    1. I check make sure the portlet provider URL works.
    2. I registered the portlet Provider.
    3. I refresh the portlet provider after I applied the changes.
    But according to the document, the Discoverer list of workbooks and Discoverer workbook portlets should show up at portlet staging folder.
    Any suggestion or tip?

    Did you add a portlet to your portal? Add the portlet, then click edit defaults and the Discoverer Portal Provider walks you thru a dialogue.

    I have a discoverer report in production PROD .I want to test the report in TEST instance but the report doesn't exist in TEST instance.Now,I want to export that report from PROD and want to deploy that report in TEST instance.
    I worked on Discoverer 10g ,when we export it will ask for business areas,folders,Item classes and so on.But in 4i when I am trying to export ,it is prompting a window to save as a file.
    Can anyone tell me how to export the reports in 4i.
    Appreciate you help !!

    Hi,
    In Discoverer 4i the workbook export is only available from the command line. Therefore you will have to use dis41adm.exe to export the workbooks into a .eex file.
