Discoverer refreshof business area

Hi I refreshed the Accounts Payables business area in the seeded EUL_US EUL. Now I am unable to see any of the invoice folders that use to exist in this EUL. Please advise how I can get all the old folders back.
I selected the AP business area then clicked on file and then refresh and then all the AP folders were gone.
Thanks.
Suhail

Hi,
how I can get all the old folders back. You can import the folder from another instance if you have.
There isn't a rollback for the discoverer administrator.
Also i suggest that before performing a refresh to a BA verify the the validation of folders by going to:
"View-> Validate -> folders" in the menu of the administrator

  • Oracle discoverer Administration - Business Areas

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to install the Oracle discoverer Administration edition for a user, but only with query/view rights on Business Areas ?.
The user should not be able do make changes , but only to view certain BA : eg : folder links, custom folder queries, properties etc.
Or is there another way of getting the information regarding the setup for a certain Business Area ?

    Hi,
It depends what version of Discoverer you are using. If you are using a later version (10g) then you can give the user administration privilege but no privilege to change the EUL (e.g. format business area). Then when the user connects to Disco Administrator they get read only access to the EUL.
If you are using a previous version then you will have to either write a report off the EUL tables that gives them all the information they need (The Oracle provided EUL Definition Business gives most of this information), or implement your own read only constraints using database triggers.
    Hope that helps,

  • Discoverer Report: How to find Business Area name from Report Name.

    Hi
I opened a report in Disco Desktop 4 -> Resonsibiolity --> Report Name.
So I know Report name but don’t know which Business Area it belongs to.
How to find Business Area Name from Report Name?
    Cheers
    Vijay

    Hi,
There is no relationship between reports and business areas. Each report can be built from many folders. Each folder can be in many business areas.
However you can try the following SQL which may give you the result you want for an v5 EUL. You will have to modify for Discoverer 4 EUL:
    select distinct doc_name, obj.obj_name folder_name, bas.ba_name
    from eul_us.eul5_documents doc
    , eul_us.eul5_elem_xrefs xref
    , eul_us.eul5_expressions exp
    , eul_us.eul5_objs obj
    , eul_us.eul5_ba_obj_links bol
    , eul_us.eul5_bas bas
    where xref.ex_from_id = doc.doc_id
    and doc.doc_name = &your_report
    and xref.ex_to_id = exp.exp_id
    and obj.obj_id = exp.it_obj_id
    and bol.bol_obj_id = obj.obj_id
    and bas.ba_id = bol.bol_ba_id

  • Discoverer Views not Working in Accounts Receivable Business Area

Discoverer Instance: OracleBI Discoverer Version 10.1.2.54.25
    Database: Oracle 10G
    Apps Version: R12
Problem: Related to our EUL for Apps
Description: A lot of views in the AR Business Area depend on views that are created with synonyms that have VPD data restrictions.
    Example of this problem
The “ARFG_AR_TRANSACTIONS “view depends on the “APPS.RA_CUSTOMER_TRX” synonym. This synonym and “APPS.RA_CUSTOMER_TRX_ALL” are both private synonyms owned by APPS that have the following creation script:
    CREATE OR REPLACE SYNONYM "APPS"."SYNONYM_NAME" FOR "AR"."RA_CUSTOMER_TRX_ALL";
The first synonym returns a null set when queried and the second synonym returns an identical set to its source table.
Source of the problem: It appears to be VPD data restrictions.
How to check to see if there are VPD data restrictions:
    select
    a.object_owner,
    a.object_name,
    a.function,
    a.policy_group,
    a.policy_type,
    a.policy_name
    from
    DBA_POLICIES a
    where
    a.object_owner='APPS'
    AND a.object_name='RA_CUSTOMER_TRX';
Solution: Our Discoverer administrator entered a service request on this and we were advised to apply patch # 6819715.
Can anyone speak of any issues associated with this patch?
    Thanks,
    Patrick

  • I am not able to see the Business area in Discoverer desktop

    Hi,
    r
    I am new to Discoverer
I have created a business area in EUL with user name and password as dewip/dewip in Discoverer administrator and now when I am logging in to Discoverer Desktop with the same user name and password to create workbook I am able to log in but I am not able to find the Business area in the Discoverer desktop.
After creating the business area do we need to do anything ( We don't even have save option to save also).
In Discoverer admin -> tools-> privilages I checked to see the privilages for this user ,but I could not see this user name(dewip) only.
    Please help me ,its urgent.
    Thanks,
    gsr

    Hi gsr
If you are working on Desktop and you change the default EUL but it doesn't stick this means that you don't have Admin rights over your machine.
In order to make these setting stick you need to have permission to update the system registry.
If you really cannot be given these rights then I suggest you ask you system admin to change the registry setting for you on your machine so that it reflects the correct EUL. You will find it here:
    1. From the Start button, use Run | regedit
    2. Open your registry to display HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Software | Oracle | Discoverer 10
    3. Expand the folder called Database
    4. Inside here you will see one set of settings that begin with AEUL and another with UEL. The format is like this:
    AEUL_username_database and UEUL_username_database
    5. You should see the name of the default EUL in the column called Data
    6. Right-click on the setting you want to change and from the pop-up select Modify
    7. Type the name of the EUL that Desktop should default to for that user in the database, making sure you type it in UPPERCASE
    8. Click the OK button
    9. Close the registry
When you now connect to Discoverer Desktop you should be in the correct EUL.
Note: this is only required if you don't have admin rights on your PC. If you do have admin rights then Discoverer will set this for itself.
By the way, if you or anyone reading this is unsure about manually editing your registry you should back it up first. Here are the steps:
To backup your registry, follow this workflow:
    1. From your PC, click Start | Run
    2. In the Run dialog box, type "regedit" and press the Enter key
    3. The registry will now be displayed
    4. From the registry menu bar, select Registry | Export Registry File
    5. When the Export Registry File dialog box opens, give a name to the file you want the registry to be saved as
    6. In Export Range, check "All" or "Selected Branch" - Selected Branch will export the current folder, so if you happen to have already navigated down tp the appropriate Discoverer Administrator folder you will be able to back it up
    7. Click the Save button
    8. Close the registry editor
To restore your registry, follow this workflow:
    1. From your PC, click Start | Run
    2. In the Run dialog box, type "regedit" and press the Enter key
    3. The registry will now be displayed
    4. From the registry menu bar, select Registry | Import Registry File
    5. Navigate to the folder in which your registry is saved and locate the file
    6. Click the Open button - the registry will be restored
    7. Close the registry editor
    Best wishes

  • Set default business area in discoverer

    Hi, All
I have a problem about the business area shown in the report. That is, When I open discoverer report, the business area that show in the drop down button does not match to the folders that I use to create my discoverer report. Anyone know how to correct this problem?
    Thank you
    Mcka

Same issue here. I noticed one thing that by default the first Business Area in the list is shown & not the one we choose for current report. And i don't think, Oracle can provide any way to change it because Reports are associated with folders & there is no clear association of reports with Business areas.

  • Business area cannot be selected at discoverer plus??

hai,I have create one EUL and i have created one business area with one table from database at Discoverer adminstrater.
Problem is i cant get selected this business area at discoverer plus even i get connected with same database user..
Plz can any one help me out of this..do i have to set any configruation on this..or any permission setup for this..
    ITs urgent now..
    ck

Log into Discoverer Plus, cancel through the Create Workbook page and then choose Tools/Options, EUL tab and ensure that you are connecting to the correct EUL.
Also, in Disco Admin, ensure you have granted the Disco Plus logon account access to the Business area.

  • Can only Discoverer Administrator create business area for EUL ?

    Hi experts
I have a problem. I've got eul.eex from other people, I imported it to discoverer,so I can see the business area , folders and the tables I can connect with.
But right now ,I need to change these table's names which means I can't use eul.eex to finish my business work(also I need to change the name of current business area). Is there any easy way to resuse eul.eex that I don't need to re-create a new *.eex to adjust the modification of table's names?
BTW. I've read Oracle discoverer 10g administrator guide , and it introduced that I can use Discoverer Administrator to create a new business area , so here's my another question , is Discoverer Administrator the only tool to create a new business area and folders ?

I've already solve it , installing Discoverer Administrator and Discoverer Top on my pc

  • Discoverer V5 EUL Business Area

Can anyone tell me how to get the Discoverer V5 EUL business area installed and how to get the EUL 5 Data Definition reports? We upgraded from 4i to 10g recently and we have the business area and reports for EUL 4, but I need these same components for EUL 5. I need the statistics reports for the new version.
    Thanks,
    Troy

    Hi Troy
Now this one I can answer :-)
You log on into SQL Plus, or use TOAD, as the EUL owner. You locate and run the script called EUL5.SQL which you will find in the $ORACLE_HOME\discoverer\util folder on the PC where you installed Discoverer Admin 10.1.2.
Next you launch Discoverer Admin and use File | Import to load the EUL5.EEX file which you will find here in the $ORACLE_HOME\discoverer folder on the PC where you installed Discoverer Admin 10.1.2
That's it. You can now connect to Plus as the owner of the EUL and run the workbooks that come pre-built.
    Best wishes
    Michael
P.S. if you are using E-Business Suite you need to run the script called EUL5_APPS.SQL

  • Discoverer V5 EUL Business Area to Multiple EULs

    Hi,
I have an EUL DISC3 which has V5 EUL Business Area & workbooks installed. There is an old EUL DISC_ADMIN which we are keeping aroud for some reason.
Now we want to use these EUL5 Workbooks to create workbooks against DISC_ADMIN EUL. How can I do that?
Do I need to run eul5.eex again without running eul5.sql because it is the same database?
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
There are two ways you could do this. You could change the owner property of all the EUL5 Definition folders in the DISC3 EUL so that the folders point to the DISC_ADMIN EUL. Then run the workbooks using the DISC3 EUL.
Or, you could load the eul5.eex into the DISC_ADMIN EUL and run the eul5.sql again (as the DISC_ADMIN EUL owner) and then run the workbook using the DISC_ADMIN EUL.

  • Can't see business areas in Discoverer user edition

I have setup a business area and folders in admin edition. But when I go to user edition I don't get the list in available business areas. The folders are set to 'visible to user'. What could be the reason.
    Thanks in advance.
    Alok

Each user much have (security) access to the business area,
and have the 'user edition' privledge.
Both of these settings can be found in the Administration Edition
    under the Tools menu.
While you're there, you can review the settings for the Query Governor
    as well.

  • Not able to view Folders in Business area.

    Hi,
User has been given access to XYZ business area from discoverer Admin but not able to view folders in Discoverer Plus (web based) but he can view the folders under same business area (ie XYZ) using Discoverer Desktop Application. Only one user is facing the problem other users with same business area (ie. XYZ) can view all the folders under that business area. User tried on other PC also but result the same.

I faced same kind of problem some time back & found JInitiator as the cause. Try unintalling older Installation of JInitiator & reinstall it & it should work.

  • How to Define Workbook / Business Ares Security Correctly for new Users

    Hi All,
Please could you help me understand the Security Model for Workbooks and business Areas as I believe I am very close to understanding it, but missing something important.
    Background Information:
We are using the predefined Oracle Business Areas (Payables, Receivables, Purchasing & General Ledger) to build our reports on. These are the steps I am taking to try and assign a new user & responsibility access to the existing report.
    1. I create the Report in Discoverer Desktop under the ‘General Ledger Responsibility’ logged in as myself – assume report name = ‘Report_1’.
    2. I create a new Responsibility in Oracle Apps called ‘Discoverer Resource Coordinators’.
    3. I create a new User in Oracle Apps called ‘Joe Bloggs’ and assign the responsibility ‘Discoverer Resource Coordinators’ to the Joe.
    4. Logged in as myself in Discoverer Desktop, Responsibility ‘General Ledger’ I Share the Report (Report_1) to the new Responsibility I just created ‘Discoverer Resource Coordinators’.
    5. In Discoverer Administration, Security, I assign the new Responsibility ‘Discoverer Resource Coordinators’ to the predefined Oracle Business Areas (Payables, Receivables, Purchasing & General Ledger).
    6. In Discoverer Administration I set privileges so that the Responsibility ‘Discoverer Resource Coordinators’ can do all tasks, query data, administer. .etc. etc..
    7. I therefore believe everything has been done and attempt to Login and run the report under Joe Bloggs, but am unable to retrieve any data.
    Help… what am I missing!
    Thanks,
    Lance

    Dear All,
This has now been adjusted according to your recommendations but to no avail.
Myself and Lance have ensured that this new responsibility has unlimited access to all the existing Business areas to eliminate joins within folders not being recognised, we have also ensured that the workbooks that have been created are shared with the correct responsibility.
I have thoroughly tested this set up by logging in as this new responsibility within Disco. Client to try and retrieve data in a new Workbook, but even for the simplest of queries this fails.
It seems that there may be a problem with the Responsibility linking to the EUL, could this be due to the new responsibility being created after the Current EUL was set up?
Does anyone have any information or knowledge where this could happen?
    Regards
    Si
