Display Rules

Hi,
Our portal platform is NW04 Stack 11.
I am a super_admin and I am trying to assign a desktop to my username. When I do this the desktop does not change. It stays on the default one. I even tried creating my own display rule and adding that to the main_rule but it did not work. I can successfully assign this desktop to users other than super_admin and myself. Is there some caching issue somewhere or something else I need to check?

Hi Kris,
It may be a caching issue, but seeing your Main Rule Collection will help to be sure.
A common mistake is to change a line in the rule without clicking "Apply" (Happens to the best of us ), so you might want to make sure by trying again.

Has any of you made any testing with display rules on multi-language views. I can't find any example, and it's not clear how to select which values to show depending on the user locale...

The only method I can suggest would to use a DataTable with the text of each label inside.

Portal display rule: connection bandwidth

Hi,
In the portal display rules (rule collections) it is possible to assign desktops to users based on the connection bandwidth.
Does anyone know where this feature is based on? Or does anyone have information regarding this? I would like to use it for assigning light and default desktops to users, but cannot find the technical data that it is based upon.

Hi Barry,
see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6e/8590f1d6d349c9adc34c6a8085189b/frameset.htm and the How-To-Guide referred there (page 19-25). This feature does <i>not</i> provide an automatic realization whether the user calling the portal has a low-bandwidth or not. It's just a matter of using corresponding URL aliases.

I have an html5 site that has both and internal and external style sheet. Does the above rule need to be in BOTH style sheets, or just the external one...?

I'm sorry, the point I was trying to make was it honestly doesn't matter "where" you put it (external or embedded), as long as it's there and isn't being overwritten by css from another source.
Which stylesheet do you use for the actual layout of the page?
That's where I would put it. Whether you want it there is up to you, it could be in either, but it's not needed in both. Your code will be lighter if you put it in the external file, since you would use the same file on every page, seems a waste to have to paste it into every page in the head section.
I usually put all of my css in one external file. Unless that file gets huge, then I will separate out layout from content style and have two external files.
There is literally no reason I can find to have your css embeeded in the <head> section of a page.

Incorrect changes to Display rules

I changed the display rules incorrect. but now i cannot enter the portal anymore. is there anybody who can help me and tell me where i can change the display rules.

I solved my problem, and I hope this will work for you as well.
I went directly to the URL for the Desktop & Display Editor and fixed the rules. Here's the Direct URL:

Display Rules: Extending Browser selection

Hello Everybody,
in the Portal we can define different Desktops and assign them to different user by the main Rule Set. There it is possible to decide that a user with a specific Browser gets a certain Desktop.
Is it possible to extend that List? We need to display the Portal in a diffenrent Desktop on iPad than on the usual PC.
Is it possible to decide what Desktop is displayed to the user by Operating System? This would be the greatest way, because we could user a Desktop for iOS and one for Windows and OS X.
We are on Netweaver 7.01 SP10.

It will be difficult to tweak Master Rule collection beyond what SAP has provided for customization eg OS based filtering.
You could have considered browser type but it doesnt support Safari. Again Safari would be common for Apple systems.
Can you consider building different URL Alias for different Logon Source Types eg for iPad, Desktop etc and give those specific URL Logon instructions to Users.

I had created a new theme for the portal. I had also created the rule for the new desktop with the IF & THEN condition.
IF user = KT1137
THEN portal desktop = pcd....(full path)
after that, when I am logging into the portal with the above given id, I am not able to view the changes.

Make sure that there are no
if *
then
conditions above your if condition.
so that, your rule should look like this:
if user=your user
then desktop=your desktop
if user=*
then desktop=...;

How to display previous settlement rules (CJ70)

Hi,
Is there any transaction code to view the list of settlement rule from CJ70.
We settle from 1 WBS - 1 AUC - many Fixed Assets
After I made final settlement rules in CJ70 and run CJ88, the lines of settled items are gone. How to display the list of previous final settlement rules (i.e this WBS has been settled to what assets)
Currently, I could get the list from FBL3N, find the GL posting with WBS number, click Original Document then it will display previous settlement. Then I click settlement rules and it will display previous settlement rules. Any other way besides FBL3N? Because it will only display rules from particular WBS and I have to find the GL posting first.

Go to CNS41/CN41. Select the WBS Element for which you want to see the settlement rules. Then Click on the Settlement Rule button. This will dispaly all the settlement receivers. i.e to AUC as well as the multiple Fixed Assets.

I have Maintained Settlement rule for Internal order as under
CAT - FXA
Settlement Receiver - Asset
% - 100
Settlement type - Full
Now after settlement of above Order in KO88 . I want again use above internal order. Hence i have trying to put Settlement rule 50% for some anther asset but system gave me following error. Please guide on this issue.
Total = 50.00%, ( Set.Type PER / Version / Actual settlement ), period 010/2011
Message no. KD042
Diagnosis
You have entered distribution rules which settle 50.00% in total. This applies for settlement view ( Set.Type PER / Version / Actual settlement ) in period 010/2011.
When checking the percentage total, the system found one of the following errors:
The total percentage for the distribution rules is more than 100%
The total percentage for the distribution rules is less than 100% and this is a rule for full settlement.
The total percentage for the distribution rules is less than 100% and the 100% check is switched on in the settlement profile.

"Symptom
    1. If a preliminary settlement rule (for example, to cost center) is entered for individual items of capital investment measures with line item management, this rule is not considered during periodic settlement. There is no settlement to cost centers.
    2. If you enter a final settlement rule for individual line items of investment measures with line item management for a partial capitalization (that is, the percentage rate is less than 100%), then you receive the unjustified error message KD042 "Total percent = xx%".

Error in BI at Transformation after migration from BW Rule (target :ZDTAPAK

Hello Gurus,
I have migrated datasource from BW to BI. The update rule from BW against transformation in BI has routine.
I see an error messgae in "Transformation Display"(screen). error msg is
Rule (target :ZDTAPAKID, group:01 standard Group): syntax error in routine
Rule (target :ZRECNM, group:01 standard Group): syntax error in routine
Rule (target :ZRECORDID, group:01 standard Group): syntax error in routine
Rule (target :ZREQUID, group:01 standard Group): syntax error in routine
when I double click on field/ Rule Name : ZDTAPAKID,ZRECNM,ZRECORDID & ZREQUID on all the four field / rule name and go to Rule Details and against Rule Type : Routine , go to Display Rule and land in Rule Details .
There is see routine isa defined, when I check the syntax of routine I get following error .
E:Field "G_S_MINFO-DATAPAKID" is unknown. It is neither in one of the
specified tables nor defined by a "DATA" statement. "DATA" statement
Note: I get same error for all the 4 fields/rule name when I try to check the syntax ZDTAPAKID,ZRECNM,ZRECORDID & ZREQUID
can any one please guide me?

otherwise, it seems in your 'Characteristic Derivation/ Display Rule values' you are missing an argument 'to Product Group', therefore the system gives you this error 'The system could not find a rule entry valid..'.

Problem in Business Rule Framework (BRF).
Facing problem while assining the 'Expression and Actions' to the Events in BRF giving the error 'Class ID is missing'.
Created an event called 'Z_My_Event_01' of implementation class '0E001', object (Event) is created succesfully but while assining the Expression and Action to that Event it shows the error 'Class ID is missing'.

BRFPlus - Control Rule maintenance using Auth checks (BADI?)

Hello BRFPlus gurus,
We are reviewing BRFPlus for use in our global project and here is our question.
We want to develop some rules, for use in Business Workflow, using BRFPlus and make them available for change to users. Some of these rules are going to be based on company code and we want to control rule maintenance based on company code to ensure users can only modify/create/display rule (e.g. decision table entries) entries only for the company code that they belong to. e.g. user for company code 0001 should not be able to change decision table entry for company code 0002.
currently we have similar rules maintained using ECC custom table maintenance and we use table maintenance Events' to code authority checks for custom auth objects.
I am wondering if BRFPlus has any BADI (or similar mechanism) available to allow us program these auth checks depending on 'Element' values.
I would greatly appreciate your response.

would you mind sharing some high-leve steps that we could follow to complete the BRFPlus prototype we are doing?
Ability to control modification of these objects using auth is one of the key criteria for prototype success .
