Distinguish APO 3.0 and SCM 7.0

Hello Friends,
I need to know, what exactly the link and difference between two, and what are th modules being covered in SCM 7.0. It would be great if someone share's some knowledge !
Thanks and Best Regards.,

Hi PK,
If your requirement is of basic training purpose, then SCM 5.0 itself
will suffice.  In any system, compliexity will arise only if you are
going for more enhancements and customisations.
You can also find more information on SCM 5.0 and SCM 7.0 under

  • [Beginner:] Incorporation of ECC, BI and SCM APO Inquiries

    Hi All,
I would like to seek your help on something I am working on. We have this supplies procurement planning tool that I was helping to create. Our general objective is to create a tool that will give a forecast of supplies that people need to procure from a facility for the future months. I am under BI and I am wondering on the basics regarding BI and SCM APO data flows. Honestly, I am still clueless on this. I have seen from our systems that most loads come from APO going to BI. Is it always that way? Are data from ECC considered as well?
Hoping to hear lots of advises on this. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge to a newbie like me.

    Saging,
Hmmm.  It seems a bit odd to be creating a 'forecasting-of-material-procurement' tool, when SAP has so many already built in, either within ERP or within APO.  Oh well, I am sure there must be a good reason.
I have seen from our systems that most loads come from APO going to BI. Is it always that way?
BI type data can come from any source.  The most common BI solutions I have seen is where BI data are extracted from the main ERP.  However, the beauty of BI is that it doesn't care, SAP builds in functionality to get data from anywhere.
Are data from ECC considered as well?
They can be if you design it so.
You should be aware that most data existing in ERP that are relevant for material planning also usually exist in APO.  The Core Interface between ERP and APO is normally set up to natively replicate substantial quantities of Master data and also transactional data.  It may be that in your business environment, you really don't need to connect to anything other than APO.  However, this is not a limitation of BI, it is just smart programming to try to minimize the number of sources of your data.

  • Upgrade APO 3.0 to SCM 5.0 SR2 (requirements in source system)

    Hello!:
We want to do and upgrade upgrade APO 3.0 to SCM 5.0 SR2
And we have seen the Guides SCM5.0 SR2 and SCM5.0 SR3, but appears info in the page 26 only about check the software requirements from APO 3.0 to SR3, but we want to check the information about APO3.0 to SR2.
    Regards,
    Alfredo.

    Alfredo,
This is not a easy question, since you are several releases behind on APO. I have done upgrade from APO 3.0 to SCM 4.1 and then subsequently to 5.0 so there were lots of learnings specific to the Projects and develoments.  The Setup being different in different industries and companies, there is no one answer to this question.  Try  the following ...
    -  Read the Release Notes of SCM 3.1, 4.0, 4.1,  5.0.  You will see a Host of New Functionalities - Newer in SNP, PPDS, TPVS,  Master Data (PDS along with PPMs).
I do not know what functionality you are live with in APO 3.0.
On the Existing Setup that you may find changed, I remember the following big changes ...
    - GUI Changes are galore in master data, less
    - SNP Side -  Changes in TLB Engine & TLB Prioritization.
                     - Deployment Split Functionality
                     -  Changes in User Exits (old code would not work).  You will find this painfull if you've implemented User Exits. eg : If you were determining OrderTypes in orders sent from APO to R3.  TLB User Exits. Lesser changes in Masterdata userexits.
                      -  Newer fields in Master Data (eg : SNP Checking Horizon in Product Master and it's implications on Deployment & TLB. ).
                     - Subcontracting Planning in APO.
    - Enhancements in VMI.
    - Use of Parallel Processing for all Modules planning.
    - Enhancements in Aggregated Planning
    - Enhancements in Product Interchangeability.
    - Several Newer Functionalities like ICH to make/replace the earlier Collaborative Planning better.
    - Master Data several changes (eg : PDS)
    - Several improvements in CoreInterface Function and Que Issues. In 4.0 onwards there is new functionality around CIF Postprocessing
    - Use of Process Chains to streamline Batch Jobs and especially BI Loads into Cubes and Planning Areas.
    - Several enhancements in PPDS (newer heuristics), Alerts
    - BW underwent a Major change from BW 2.0 to BW 3.0 to now BI 7.0 which impacts Setup for Demand Planning.  eg : The InfoCube got renamed to InfoProviders.
I suggest you start with the Release Notes.  Form a List of your Test Scenarios, then Upgrade in your Development and start to Test. Don't plan less, but more time for testing since you are undergoing a several releases change.  First start to get your Existing Business Scenarios documented as Test Scripts in Order.
I STRONGLY recommend doing a Technical Upgrade Only (i.e : do not upgrade Major Functionality unless there is no other way).  In Summary for SURE SCM 5.0 is a Much better and Stable System than APO 3.0.
Hope this helps.  Reward Points If you find it usefull.

  • Connectivity of APO 3.0A and ERP6.0

    Hi Experts,
We have a plan to upgrade R/4.6C to ERP6.0 in near future, and we consider to connect APO 3.0A to ERP6.0 for a while as one of options for some reason though finally we will go to SCM.
    So now my question is...
Are there any actual case about connectivity of APO 3.0A and ERP6.0?  And if you know some cases, could you kindly give me information about considerable points, difficulty and the solutions etc.
Thank you so much in advance.
    Katsuya

    Hi Katsuya,
You can very well integrate APO 3.0 with ERP 6.0.  But as
you see, ERP you are choosing is at a higher version and
APO you are choosing is at a lower version comparatively.
Hence you may get many operational errors during
integration part, livecache installation area, stability area etc.,
There could be more changes of data compatability leading
to data mismatches which creates inconsistencies etc.,
For more details, you can check the related documentations
    under the link

  • Compliance Calibrator for SRM and SCM???

    Hello,
Can we use the compliance calibrator for the modules like SRM and SCM? Do we get any ruleset for these modules from SAP or need to create ourself?
    Thanks in advance
    Eric

    Alexander,
Thanks for your prompt response. But the note available from SAP is not included SCM?
    <b>Note 1033326 - Compliance Calibrator 5.2 Rule Upload</b>
SOD Action and Permission level rules are provided for R/3, APO, ECCS, CRM
and SRM. HR and Basis rules are included in the R/3 but also broken out
    separately.
Could you tell me what all other modules are included in the standard ruleset?
    Thanks in advance

  • SCM 2007 and SCM 5.0 difference and benefits

    Hello,
We are planning to upgrade our APO solution to the next version.  I wanted to  know if anyone has done any analysis between SCM 5.0 and SCM 2007 which points outs it differences and it's benefits.
Also SCM 2007 being the latest version, is it stable version to upgrade.
    Please advise.
    Regards,
    Sanju

    SCM 2007 Vs. SCM 5.1:
Product name is SCM 2007. SCM 5.1 is component under SCM 2007. However it is noted that these names are typically used interactively.
As product is newly introduced...unless you need critical functionality being newly provided, you could wait till initial stabilization happens.
    Benefits:
    Enterprise Service bundle
DP: Flexible graph generation, usability for context menu, identify/delete obsolete CVCs, enhancements in <<
    Graphics, Selection Mgmt
    >>
SNP: Profitability driven SCM, Optimization - prioritization, sequence dep. setup costs, quota arrangements , receipt bounds, BADIs for master data edit thru CIF, enhancements in <<
Shelf-life, subcontracting, Prod. Interchangeability, graphics, CTM
    >>
PP/DS: User maintained capacity reservations,  MRP based detailed scheduling, download SNP blocks, Enterprise Services, enhancements in <<
    Campaign Planning, CTP
    >>
SCM 7.0: This is still in development by SAP.

  • Reports for DP and SNP and SCM?

    hi friends,
what type of reports generally we will develop for APO(dp and snp) and SCM if the client is manufacturer, chemical and pharmaceutical?
    regards
    ssk

    Hi Suneel,
I'm not sure if DP or SNP have standard reports. But you can create every kind of reports if you make an extraction structure from your planning area to APO-BW. When you have planning area data in an infocube, then you can use BEx to do some queries.
I hope this can help you.
    Regards.

  • Communication between ECC and SCM via XI

I am trying to set up the scenario 'Purchase_Order_Processing' between
ECC and SCM using XI. The SCM content for XI has been loaded into XI
and this scenario is included in the content.
    We are running the following:
    ECC - Version 5.0 - 640 SP level 12
    XI - Version 3.0 - 640 SP Level 14
    SCM - 4.10 - 640 SP Level 12
The connectivity between the systems has been set up as described in the configuration guides. On sending an IDOC (basic type ORDERS05) into XI I get the following error message 'Http server code 500 reason Internal Server Errorexplanation Error during parsing of SOAP header'.
The Error XML is as follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
    - <!-- Call Adapter
    -->
    - <SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30"

<SAP:P3>Error during parsing of SOAP header</SAP:P3>
    <SAP:P4 />
    <SAP:AdditionalText />
    <SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage namespace="" />
<SAP:Stack>Http server code 500 reason Internal Server Error
explanation Error during parsing of SOAP header</SAP:Stack>
    <SAP:Retry>M</SAP:Retry>
    </SAP:Error>
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

    Sravya,
Yes this an IDOC to http scenario. There was no dump at the receiver end. I've found out what was causing the problem - I was using an adapter type of HTTP. It should have been of type 'XI'. I've altered this and it works. Hopefully this will resolve your problem Vinod.

  • Block Demand Depend Interfaces between ECC and SCM

    Hello All.
Is there a way to block only interfaces of Dependent Demand between ECC and SCM.
I need to do this because ECC writes over my plan in SCM.
    Thanks and Best Regards

    Hello PrasunM
    For example:
When you create an Order on finished material, SCM using PP method "3 - Cover Ind. Requ." creates DepReq on raw material.
SCM using CIF sends PlOrd, PrdOrd and DepReq to ECC. I want send only PlOrd and PrdOrd, DepReq i only need in SCM side.
    Best Regards.

  • Distinguish between pure AS3 and Flex project

    Hey,
how can I distinguish if I am compiling currently an AS3 or a Flex project (mxml vs. pure as)?
I acutally want to look something up in the "evaluate" method of a GenerativeFirstPassEvaluator before doing the processing. So I need to know it there.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Best,

MXML is converted to AS3 code as part of the compilation process, then the AS3 is compiled normally like the rest of the project. I don’t think that GFPE is run over anything but an AS3 tree. There
may be a way to figure out where the original source came from, e.g. .mxml or .as file, but you’d have to interactively debug and scan the data structures — I don’t know off hand.

  • Distinguishing between bookmark page and ordinary jsp

If I bookmark a page in my project and close the browser , and again on restarting the browser
viewing the same bookmark page without logging in,
    All the links should work.
It is working , but problem arises here
    how to
distinguish between bookmark page and ordinary jsp
    which is viewed with login

The problem is not the bookmark.
Review your JSP, you may find it does not check the session id.
In this case, everyone can access the page without login.

  • How can I distinguish between the first and the rest in Smartforms??

I have made an Invoice in Smartform. I have to take three copies of that. In the first copy it will be printed "ORGINAL INVOICE" and in the next copies it will print "Duplicate copy".  How can I distinguish between the first and the rest in Smartforms??

    Hello Vamshi,
As per the OP's requirement he has to print 3 copies of the invoice. Which according to my understanding should be printed at the same time ? May be i am wrong in interpreting this.
You must be knowing you can control the print params of the SmartForms in CONTROL_PARAMETERS where you set the NO_DIALOG & in the OUTPUT_OPTIONS pass the number of copies.
I think the solution you have proposed the "Original Copy" will be printed only once. (Correct me if i am wrong)
Every time the user prints the invoice again he will be getting a "Duplicate Copy". If this is what the OP wants the logic is perfect
    Cheers,

  • Distinguish between 'Edit Page' and 'Customize'

I have a portlet/provider that needs to be able to distinguish between 'Edit Page' and 'Customize (Page)' (top level). In both cases you can add portlets, but I want to implement different logic for both instances.
    Thanks,
    Jan
    null

    Okay, so here goes!
Oracle Portal stores the way a portlet instance is shown/put on a page in the db-column 'wwpob_portlet_instance$.include'.
In the portlet 'register' call you can find out what the originating action was for this portlet to be placed on the specific page. At this stage only two possible values are interesting:
3: WWPOB_API_PAGE.PORTLET_CUSTOM; The originating action was [Customize Page - Add Portlet]
1: WWPOB_API_PAGE.PORTLET_BASE_SHOWN; The originating action was [Edit Page - Add Portlet]
For now this gives me a hook to process the two originating actions differently.
Please let me know if you know of any other (less hacked) way to do this.
    Thx,
    Jan.

  • APO order source and dest loc same

    Hello,
We have one issue many times we find orders in APO whose source and destintion location is same.for example planned order created by APO
what can be the reason any idea?
    SB

    SB,
    To restate your problem:
You have a product master in Distribution Center location B
You have the same product master in Plant location A
You have a TL for this material A>B
When you create a planned order for this material in plant B, the source defaults to B.
Please confirm.  If necessary, create a planned order manually against B in APO to see the behavior.
Normally, location to location transfers like this are via STO.  Is this the business process you are trying to execute? Or do you have a different business process?
Your problem indicates that the planned order seems to be finding another source. There could be a defect in your TL, or you have additional sourcing info, such as a PPM.  A quota arrangement can also impact sourcing.
You can rule out TL problems if there are other materials assigned to this TL, which work ok.
Other than that, first check for product master differences between parts that work, and parts that don't work.
    Best Regards,
    DB49
