DLU no longer working on win2003 Term Serv

Hi:
Last night, I had to flatten & reload a win2003 Terminal Server. Re-installed the 4.90sp2 client and ZfD4 agent and now my DLU's no longer work.
More info: When I install the agent (either zfd401_ir4a or ir6), it forces me to enter an address for the Middle Tier Server. Historically, I could just <next> right past that since we don't have a Middle Tier Server. Is this because the agent isn't seeing the 4.90sp2 client?
Any thoughts? Users can't login twice you know.... Thanks.

Seems to be a problem here.
The only thing I see at:
HKLM/Software/Novell/Workstation Manager/Identification
is:
Name - Type - Data
Default - REG_SZ - (value not set)

no... you can always leave that field empty..
make sure that the tree in
HKLM/Software/Novell/Workstation Manager/Identification
is correct... zenpol32.dll is only in the agent directory and the agent in
the path..

SSH / ARD no longer working on 10.6 Server

This happens quite often. Too much for my liking actually.
Randomly SSH or ARD will stop working.
SSH, Port 22 Connection Refused.
ARD Not Active.
Makes no sense. Both Remote Login and Remote Management are on in Sharing Prefs Pane.
SSH should never, ever get turned off, ever, or Connection Refused (for / from me).
If I can at least get to the server via SSH, I can then use the Kickstart ARD command and get ARD going again.
I also can not ssh to server using their FQDN, even though they are in the DNS. I have to use their IP addresses only.
Any ideas.

Look at the server side:
/var/log/secure.log
This is where sshd sends its error messages.
If the information does not contain sufficient details, you can modify the server side
/etc/sshd_config
Changing:
#LogLevel INFO
to:
LogLevel DEBUG3
Notice that the # comment character is also removed.
Now restart server side sshd by stopping/starting System Preferences -> Sharing -> Remote Login
Now go back and look at
/var/log/secure.log
After the next failure. NOTE: you shoudl most likely restore /etc/sshd_config back to its original state after you figure out what has gone wrong.

VPN no longer working after moving DHCP server to router

I am preparing my SBS 2008 environment for migration to Server 2012 R2 Essentials. I moved the DHCP server to the router (a Netgear R7000 with standard firmware). I am able to access RWW and CompanyWeb via the router from external locations.
With the VPN, however, I can only connect but cannot access any network resource (including file shares). The VPN is supported by the SBS server with RRAS. I didn't change any of the configuration because I didn't think any of it needed to be changed. The
router just needs to get it's reservations from a different DHCP server, right? Anyway, would appreciate if someone can shed some light on what's going on here.

VNC no longer working after Leopard install

I have been running Vine Server on my machine for several months now without a hiccup, and I've really gotten used to being able to access my home machine from work. However, after upgrading to Leopard last weekend, my remote access no longer works. The Vine Server application appears to be running just fine, but when I try to access the VPN from work (using TightVNC - same as I've always done) it just hunts for a few minutes and then tells me it can't find the network.
I haven't changed any settings on either the router or the Mac. Any idea what's going on here? How can I get my remote access back?

Screen sharing is broken for me as well, trying to access a mac mini server (was snow leopard - is now Lion) from an iMac using the Lion server admin tools. It says "Connecting to "192.168.1.7"" but never connects.
SSH connects though so perhaps you can wrestle control of the server using the terminal.
I can't use the machine locally, the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive and there is no hdmi output to the Sony Bravia that its connected to.
I'm pretty close to doing a full re-install but I need to track down some urls posted on one of the blogs that the server was running first.

Xte no longer works with xorg-server-1.4.0.90-3

Program xte from xautomation no longer works. It's no longer possible to simulate X key strokes. xte runs and returns 0 but the key strokes are not simulated. It last worked in xorg-server-1.4-6. xte uses libxtst to work its magic.
Has anyone else had these same issues? Is there an alternative to xte that will work with Arch's latest xorg-server? Thanks.

Just to follow up on this... the same startx messages are still coming with the latest xorg-server 1.4.0.90-5
I've spent hours searching but have not run across a fix that works and don't know what's causing it. At least so far, I've not found any ill effects from it on my machine.

Since upgrading to Mavericks, my Canon MP980 printer no longer works. I've tried deleting the printer and adding it again. the process ends with my mac saying the software is not currently available from the software update server.

My Mac dropbox tells me "the selected printer software is available from Apple", but when I click to download it, the process ends with my mac saying the software is not currently available from the software update server.

Open Finder and click on Go > Go to Folder. Then type
/Library/Printers/Canon
and press Enter. This will show the BJPrinter and iJScanner folders. You could try moving or trashing this folder and then installing the driver that you downloaded from Canon again.

MBP no longer able to log in on WIN2003 FILE server

New MBP in Aug,08. Able to access WIN2003 file server with typical clicks in Finder. Then comes October upgrade to Leopard, and this results in only being able to access file server by Finder>apple+k>connect to server by smb://##.##.##.##
Finally in December after an "upgrade" on the file server done by our IT person, I can no longer access the file server. I perform either of the above approaches to logging in and it just "hangs"...no error message, it just keeps trying, but never says that it can't find the server.
So, the IT person has done changes like taking down firewall and changing some of the enable/disable settings recommended on other chat sites for similar issues, but to no avail. HELP!

Never mind...my password to access file server contained a character that was not acceptable. Once changed, access restored.

Testing server no longer working

I recently upgraded the hard drive in my macbook pro and used time machine to copy all data to the new drive. Now my testing server (MAMP) is no longer working. When I point my browser to /localhost/ the index page comes up but none of the dynamic pages work. Dreamweaver is no longer connecting to the SQL database, even when trying to create a new connection (it only looks to 127.0.0.1). I also deleted and recreated the testing server in the Dreaweaver preferences and uninstalled/ reinstalled MAMP.
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated!

Oracle9i HTTP server no longer works now AS 9i v1.0.2.2.2a is installed

I am trying to set up an Oracle system without much success.
I managed to install the Enterprise Oracle9i database no
problems and the HTTP apache server was working fine using
ports 8080 and 4444.
I then tried to install the Oracle9i Application server v1.0.2.2.2a
(core). The HTTP apache server for this is set for ports 80 and 443.
This second Apache server works great but the first one no longer
works.
Having looked at the services running it appears that OracleOraHome90Agent
and OracleOraHome90HTTPServer are no longer running even though they
are set to automatic. When I try and run them I get the following errors:
OracleOraHome90Agent : Service could not be started. Error 2140: An internal
window NT error occurred.
OracleOraHome90HTTPServer : Could not start the service. Error 1067 - the
process terminated unexpectedly.
I then went to c:\oracle\ora90\Apache\Apache in MSDOS and typed apache. I
received the following:
[Thu May 02 16:11:16 2002] [warn] pid file c:/oracle/ora90/apache/apache/logs\httpd.pid
overwritten - - Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run? Apache.pm version 1.26

Perhaps you forgot to 'make install' or need to unistall an old version?
Found c:/oracle/isuites/apache/perl/site/5.0053/lib/apache.pm
Not quite sure what is happening as there is an apache.pm located at
c:/oracle/ora90/apache/perl/site/5.0053/lib/apache.pm which is version 1.26 so I can't
see why the database should be pointing to the version in the application server.

A Golden rule , at all times you must ONLY ONE web server on the machine , when installing Oracle Engine deselect the Apache and install it with the App. Server ( better ) ,, if you are using Windows platform you must first uninstall IIS and if Linux use the pre-installed with linux , HTTP users port 80 and ports are not sharable.

Remote Desktop "Bypass RD gateway server for local addresses" no longer working in Windows 8

After installing windows 8, it seems like the "Bypass RD gateway server for local addresses" is no longer working.
In Windows 7, when the option is checked, I could have the server name set always and the client will automatically detect whether to use the RD gateway or not. For example, from my house, if I am connecting to a computer at my work, which requires
the RD gateway, it will automatically pops up the dialog for authentication method. However, if I connect to a computer in my home network, it will just automatically connects without asking authentication for the RD gateway.
However, after installing windows 8, this does not seem to work as expected anymore. The option is checked but the Windows Security dialog pops up in both situations and so i have to either save the rdp file locally and pin it to the taskbar or switch between
disabling and enabling the RD gateway whenever I need to connect to different machines.
Is this a regression in Windows 8? Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Another way to resolve this issue for me, beside of configuring RDP to connect directly to server also on unmanaged network, will be to turn the "wifi" subnet in a managed network, as the "wired" subnet is.
The differences between thoses to subnets, dynamically assigned by the same DHCP server, are:
The "wifi" is in a private IP range, the "wired" is in a public IP range
There's an ACL on the "wifi" subnet, not on the "wired"
The next step is to compare frames send/received when on the two networks. Something will likely tell for the network to be managed.
Beside, I'm still searching informations about NLA, which is responsible for setting a nework as managed or not.

Server Admin Graphing No Longer Works in 10.4.6

Has anyone else noticed that the graphing functions no longer work in 10.4.6?
I have also noticed that the CPU % Usage in the System - Hardware displays 62% no matter that the system is idle. This only appears on my single processor G4 not my Dual G4 Xserve.

Ever since I have upgraded to Xserve 10.4.6 the graphing function does not work and shows 0% - pretty light load for a dual 867 MHz G4 and about 12 users at the time
It is my hope that Apple does fix the problem shortly - it's useful to see the load on the CPU and network. Over the last while I did notice that the CPU load was "creeping" up steadily when the "Server Admin" utility was left running. The graph did not creep up when "Server Admin" was terminated and a graph was plotted after a few days.

Group calendars on 10.6.4 client machines no longer work with iCal Server

After updating 2 client machines to 10.6.4 I realized my group calendars no longer work in iCal.
I get "Server Responded With an Error" on all my group calendars, on both machines.
Preferences>Accounts>Server Path reveles the server path has reverted back to a GUID "/principals/_uids_/GUID string/" .
I change it back to "/principals/_uids_/wiki-GroupName/" and get it working again, but if I quit iCal and restart it again reverts back to the GUID.
I've trashed all calendars in ~/Library/Calendars, and the Prefs. I also tried "/principals/wikis/GroupName/", but again it reverts.
I booted to my 10.6.3 clone and have no problems with the group calendars there.
(I'm running 10.6.4 Server)
Is anyone else having this issue?

Are you asking for an example of how to use calendarservermanageprincipals? While the tool is designed to help you configure privileges on resources and locations, it works fine for users. So I created a new user in Workgroup Manager to represent my Marketing department's calendars. I named this user "sharedmarketing".
Then, I wanted to give staff read-only access to the calendar and give Marketing write access, so I executed these two commands:
sudo calendarservermanageprincipals --add-write-proxy groups:marketing users:sharedmarketing
sudo calendarservermanageprincipals --add-read-proxy groups:staff users:sharedmarketing
I then imported the content from the Marketing Wiki calendar into this calendar and that was it!
If I logged in directly to the sharedmarketing account (not necessary), and looked how the account was set to be delegated, it properly showed group names:
There is no way to configure it like this using the iCal GUI, and this was I always felt that the management of privileges was the biggest obstacle in setting up iCal Server in this proper, supported fashion.
Then, from the client, I can naturally access those group calendars:
This is SO much easier to setup and maintain as each user only needs to have their ONE iCal account configured and they can just add the necessary groups, which is WAY easier than supplying users with crazy wiki-calendar URLs.

Additionally, using an old version of Firefox is ill-advised as old versions contain uncorrected security vulnerabilities. Roboform has been very good lately in keeping their products updated for new Firefox releases and any problems with their products should be reported to them so that they can address any issues and release an update if needed.
