Do all iSight models feature autofocus and built-in microphone?

I'm looking for a used iSight to use with my mid 2007 Mac mini.  I want one with autofocus and a built-in microphone.  Do all iSight models have these features or are there differences?  Thanks.

The info you are seeking may be found here.

  • Isight and built in microphone not working. Is that normal??

Hi there, is it normal if I can't use the built in microphone and I can't set it up also for the cam I found the same problem? There is a lack of drivers maybe? Please let me know, cheers!!!

And for the problem regarding the built-in microphone you know if there isthe driver? Putting a usb Microphone it does work properly. Maybe they will prepare a set of mac drivers updated for windows?
Anyway thanks for the first answer!!

  • [SOLVED] HP420 and Built-in microphone don't work.

I have a trouble with my on-board microphone in my laptop (hp-420), it was working some months ago (with previous kernel) and I didn't use it for a while, after several upgrades now I tired to use it and it doesn't work. Second microphone, a jack, doesn't work either, and it's arch related, because I did some tests in windows (have dual boot) and both the built-in and jack work fine. So far I have tried testing alsa configurations, played with preferences and some other things I have read over the internet and in arch forums, but no luck at all. I may think it's kernel related but I'm not sure as I'm not an expert. Also sound works fine, it's only the built in microphone the one I can not get to work. I whish someone could help me or guide me.
So all the info I could gather about my machine and the sound

What is under the switches tab?
Oh -- By the way, that picture is over the size limit defined in the forum rules in tems of pixels, but the file size is okay.  I'll let it slide.  Watch the bumping as well.
If you want to post the switches tab, upload it to someplace like http://img3.imageshack.us/, copy the thumbnail (which has the link to the original)  back here, and you are golden.
I had a bear of a time getting the microphone working on my HP DV4, but it does work.  I'll look at the set up when I get home tonight [USA-PDT].
Sorry for the picture and the "bumping"... I have asked in irc in arch and alsa channels and no luck yet... one guy from alsa said I had to wait for the alsa-driver-1.0.24 package (currently I have alsa-driver-1.0.23) but it is weird because the microphone worked some months ago...
So here is what it is under the switches tab

  • Ventrilo and Built-in Microphone

Hello! I am attempting to use Ventrilo (or any other application that uses a microphone) and am told that I sound as if I am in a "hollow box." I use a Sennheiser microphone that is not a USB microphone; it has two plug-ins to connect at the back of my computer, one for my headphones and one for my microphone.
    My microphone:
    http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/productdetail.asp?transid=500926
The only conclusion that I can come to is that Ventrilo is picking up my built-in microphone from my iMac. On the following forum thread, it notes that you cannot use a non-USB microphone with a MacBook Pro. Is this the same for an iMac if I'm wanting to chat on Ventrilo? Does this mean I need a USB microphone in order to do so?
    Forum thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/archive/index.php/t-161009.html
I've attempted to change my sound settings to "Line In" in the Sound properties instead of "Internal Microphone," but my microphone still doesn't seem to be working. I know it's not broken, too.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

_devros is 100% correct, for that head set mic you'll need the [Griffin iMic|http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic> as he suggest
    or the [MXL iBooster.|http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/MXL-iBooster-Guitar-and-Microp hone-Interface?sku=243800]
    Have a look at [Wikipedia/Line level|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line-level]
and the [Developer Notes for the iMac Audio System.|http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/Conceptual/HWTechAudio/Articles/Audio_implementation.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40003978-SW281200331167]

  • After my iPad 2 upgraded to IOS 5.0.1, built in Microphone not working

Just what I said, my iPad 2 upgraded to IOS 5.0.1 from IOS 5 on last week, the built in microphone is not working anymore, I can't record the video with sound, and called my friends with Facetime, they can't heard my voice.  Then I already restored IOS 5.0.1 for a few time and built in microphone is still not working. Does anyone iPad 2 has the same issue after using IOS 5.0.1?  And anyone can help me to fix this?  Thx.

I've read other posts about this, and while it seems an odd coincidence, you likely have a faulty microphone.  On the right hand side you'll see similar posts.  The majority of people who all of the sudden had mic's that wouldn't work after updating, wound up getting their iPads replaced at the Genius Bar at their local Apple Store.  You could try rebotting, by pressing and holding BOTH the home and power buttons at the SAME time for at least 10 seconds (ignore the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go fo both buttons and your iPad will restart.  If that doesn't work, I would not recommend restoring.  Instead, make an appointment at the Apple Store and if found defective it will be replaced.  Do remember to create a backup before going.  It will make setting up a new device exactly as you had it, much much simpler.

    Hi,
I would try a Safe Boot first.  (This will take longer than a normal Boot and you will need to Restart afterwards).
If it were an older OS I would also suggest going to System Preferences > Displays and making sure the display is set to Millions.  (My MacBook Pro does not have this option in Snow Leopard so I did presume Snow Leopard does not have it).
With some laptops there have been some issues with the cable up the back of the screen pulling loose with regular and frequent use of the lid, but this will not apply to you based on your specs.  (it does take time to appear and is also somewhat rare). However it seems enough contact with the camera can make it appear in System Profiler and power it on but not give a pic.
If a Safe Boot does not work I would also try a PRAM reset.
    Shut down the computer.
Restart it holding down Apple/CMD (or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.
This is actually "less" destructive in that it clears less memory items than Safe Boot but they are different enough to warrant trying.
Do you have an older version of iGlasses installed ?
The one for Leopard does not work for Snow Leopard.
Do you have  Web Browser open ?
This may point to  Google Video Chat Plug-in and Flash Conflict.  It would be rare to allow another app to access the camera even if not displayiong a Pic.
(Chrome Installs the Plug-in as does the standalone download).
Knowing  what "any application" exactly you are trying might help us pin it down.
Any additional downloaded  apps that can use the camera ?
Do you happen to have something balck in front of the camera ?

  • Is there a way to select MULTIPLE tabs and then copy ALL of the the URLs and titles/or URLs+titles+HTML links? This can be done with the Multiple Tab Handler add on; However, I prefer to use a Firefox feature rather than download an add on. Thanks.

Currently, I can copy ONE tab's url and nothing else (not its name). Or I can bookmark all tabs that are open. However, I'd like to have the ability to select multiple tabs and then copy ALL of the the URLs AND their titles/or copy ALL of the URLs+titles+HTML links? This can be done with the Multiple Tab Handler add on; when I download the add on, I get a message saying that using the add on will disable Firefox's tab features. I prefer to use Firefox features rather than download and use an add on. Is there a way to do this without an add on?

    Hi LRagsdale517,
You should definitely be able to upload multiple files by Shift-clicking or Ctrl-clicking the files you want to upload. Just to make sure you don't have an old version of the service cached, please clear the browser cache and then log in to https://cloud.acrobat.com/files. After clicking the File Upload icon in the upper-right corner, you should be able so select multiple files for upload.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

Thank you wjsten for your soon reply. Unfortunately on these days I'm in a country that Apple don't have any retail store here and for sake of time I prefer to fix it myself to DHL it to the nearest country to use its warranty. Do you have any idea how can I fix it? Do you think it's a software issue?

WHen I first installed iOS 6 the App Store crashes...and now having iOS 6 for 2 weeks now, all my apps are buggy and now are crashing! Safari and built in apps are becoming slow and crash. I hate how apple leaves iPod touch 4g and iPhone 4 in the dark and basically force us to upgrade to newer devices. Apple could of done better with the update and needs to resolve these issues.

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Is it possible to update QT 7 to higher version? I ran the update once and all the Pro features were disabled with the message: Your Reg Key is for QT Version 7 only, I had to reinstal Win after updating, because the new  QT  kept the reg with no pro func

Is it possible to update QT 7 to higher version? I ran the update once and all the Pro features were disabled with the message: Your Reg Key is for QT Version 7 only. I uninstalled the new QT version, and reinstalled the old QT 7 but the Pro functions were still unavailable, so , I had to reinstal Windows to get my Pro functions back. This happened quite a while ago, but every time I get the "Update" message, I am afraid to launch it.

All I can say is that the problem you experienced is not by design but was instead some sort of technical fault, either in QuickTime or in Windows. I've upgraded QuickTime for Windows a number of times, to various new versions of QuickTime 7, and it's never removed my Pro key. My guess, and this is strictly a guess, is that something corrupted the preference file where the Pro key is held, disabling the Pro features and not allowing you to re-enter your key. Since you reinstalled Windows, I would expect that future updates to QuickTime will go without problem, and if for some reason the Pro features are ever removed, re-entering your Pro key should get them back.
    Regards.

  • I've downloaded the 5.0 update and not all the new features are there.  Just the news stand, reminders and videos.  I double checked on the update and it says it's up to date.  What should I do now?

I've downloaded the new 5.0 update and not all the new features are there.  Just the newsstand, reminders and videos icons plus icloud.  Everything else is the same as before.  What should I do now?  It says I have the latest update.  ???

Hummmm, you might not be missing anything... From what I understand, really the only new visible add-on apps type programs are Newstand and Reminders. The Notification Center seems to be about how your info and alerts are pushed to your screen and you control that thru the phone settings>General>Notifications, the panel is accessed by swiping downward from the top of your screen. Weird I know, should be more obvious. Enjoy!
Don't forget, you can now use the volume button on the side of your phone to take photos. I really like this!
