Do any Samsung WP owners have their battery drain to dead while powered off?

I've noticed my ATIV SE battery drains completely dead while powered off in just a couple days.  It has a nearly full charge when powered off and then when I go to power it on, it's dead.

It started in September which was about 2 months after purchasing the phone.  It's a recurring issue.  Yes, in my example, the phone is completely powered off for the full two days.  More specifically, the trend is I turn my phone off for about 10 hours and when I turn it back on it's lost about 12-14% battery charge.  Since posting my question, I've sent it back to Samsung Support for repair (on the second go-around now).  They replace the battery (supposedly) the first time.  The issue was worse after that.  The battery would lose about 21% charge in just 12 hours of being powered off.  The current Samsung repair log states they've replaced the PBA, updated software, and further repair is pending a hardware part (unknown) replacement.

  • 40 GB iPod Battery drains when mac is powered off

If I leave my iPod in the cradle ( connected via firewire) and the Mac is powered OFF, the battery will be drained in a few hours (or overnight). If I leave the iPod sitting wherever (not connected to anything), the battery will not be drained... normal.
I assume then that the Mac (G4 867) is sucking the juice out of the battery when the Mac is powered off. Is this a Firewire port issue or ?
I don't always leave my Mac on, and I don't always take the iPod out of its cradle... how can I stop this from happening?

Is this a Firewire port issue or ?
I remember a few people mentioning this problem last year, and I think the consensus was that it's a Firewire port issue, and the only solution really is to take the iPod out of the dock when the computer is turned off. (It might work to have an external powered Firewire hub, I don't know if the computer would shut that down or not).

Try starting Aperture with the command and option keys held down.  You'll get 3 options.
Try each, starting at the top, in order, checking after each to see if it fixes the issue.

  • Full Battery Drain Overnight while Powered Off. -Defective Unit or?

I bought a new iPod Classic 80gb over the weekend and had charged it the same day via the included USB cable... Powered it off in the evening before going to bed by holding the play/pause button until the screen went black and I wake up the next morning to find that the battery is completely drained and the unit won't power up until its charged again.
Ok, so I figure this might just have been a fluke occurrence and that maybe I did something wrong in turning it off- but the EXACT same thing happened to me again this morning after doing a full charge just the previous night. I powered it off by holding play/pause as soon as it finished charging. Then I get into my car this morning ready to listen to some music on my commute and I get a message saying the battery is completely drained and it needs to be recharged...
How this has happened twice in 4 days I don't know, but hopefully someone may have an idea or might be experiencing the same thing? Am I doing something wrong? I haven't loaded anything other than music onto it and this has happened twice already since I bought it just a few days ago.
There is no video on it whatsoever and the battery has drained from 100% to 0% in a matter of 6 hours, while powered off, on two separate occasions.
I'd hate to think I just wasted $260+ dollars on a dud piece of equipment but if this persists I'll be returning it by week's end as it looks to be defective.

I bought Ipod Nano 2G and have the same problem, Charge 4 hours, then, when I use it , Ipod suddenly restart and the battery drains near to 98% of capacity, or when I power off the nano after use it, next morning or severals hours later, the battery is completly drain, and Ipod doesn't response, just response until I connect to USB port of my Computer or ITrip, and show the "extremely battery low message".
I use my ipod only in my car with my iTrip car, but some times y use it for some Long travels in plane, its works ok, but some days ago ( near to sept. /8 ) start with this failures.
Here some of my Hipotesis, It's may be related with the new software version 1.3.1 ? its install some days ago trought Itunes.
If the problem is the software? some one know if exist some software to downgrade the software from 1.3.1 to older version?
I found some things about this procedure , but only works to 1.2
    Sorry for my inglish.

    Thanks in advance

You could also check what it draining battery under settings > power management > battery usage. Check this when you have less then 30% battery left and you should have 3G enabled from 100% battery.

  • Anyone else have terrible battery drain since the update?

I did the update yesterday morning and right away started to notice battery drain.. Before that I had the best battery of any iphone I've ever had. I have the 5s currently. I changed nothing so there should be no change in my battery usage so the only thing it could be is something with the upgrade. It's probably too early since the update came out to know what the problem is and I guess I should have waited to do it till the bugs were worked out. Other then that I have found no problems. Anyone else having the battery drain problem?

I'm sure there are people who had battery drain after updating to 7.1.1. I'm sure because there are people who posted about it, and you could have found out yourself just be reading the forum or searching it. How does knowing that help you?
I'm also sure there were people who had extra battery drain after updating to 7.1, and to 7.0, and to 6.3, and to 6.2, and to 6.1, and to 6.0, and to 5.4, and to 5.3...all the way down to 1.1. Again, because they posted and said so.
For the record, my battery usage hasn't changed since updating.
You are wrong that the only thing it could be is the upgrade. If it were the upgrade there would be 10,000 or more posts about it already.
However, sometimes the process of upgrading "confuses" some apps, and they run continuously trying to recover. This drains the battery rapidly. To solve the problem take basic troubleshooting steps, and stop once the problem is resolved:
Turn the phone off by holding the SLEEP button until slide to power off appears; wait a few minutes, then turn it back on
Restart iOS by holding HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears (10-15 seconds)
Kill all running apps - double press the HOME button, and flick each screen image up. Then restart the phone again
Restore the phone using iTunes on your computer
Usually one of these will fix it. Post back if none of them work.

  • Why do I have sudden battery drain?

Why do I have sudden rapid battery drain?

Davidhye is correct. The screen at lower contrast is hardly readable. That's why I said the screen quality is extremely bad. Even at 00% contrast, it is hard to read in bright neon light. It only has good readibility with rather dim light. At 50%, I almost can't read the text at all. At 0-20%, I don't think anyone can read it.By contrast, without trying to promote iRi'ver at all, my H320 has 0 steps of contrast. At 0, the screen displays text?even sharper than my Dell LCD monitor. At 50%, the text is highly readible, because only the color looks worse. Brightness at 0% (yes ZERO %), the text is as readable as ZMP at 00% contrast....believe it or not.
Even funnier, at bright day light, iRi'ver at 0% contrast is still much more readible than ZMP at 00% contrast.
Never did I imagine the ZMP screen can be that bad. About the battery, I played at normal (no equalzr) at vol 7. I asked ZMP buyers from the same seller (we bought it from a classified in a local forum), and they all have the same problem. The battery life is only about 7-8 hours max from the claim of 5 hours by Creative. I played my H320 skipping all around my music folder like crazy for?2.5?hours today, and .... I'm so proud to say, it has not even down notch !!!. Geezzz what a difference.

  • 8520 : Battery draining in sleep mode/turned off

    Hi Guys,
    Happy new year!
I am now confused with what happened to my Blackberry device. Here is the problem. I charge the blackberrry battery up to 50%, then I unplug the charger then I turn it off. When I sleep, the battery drains so fast, I don't know what's happening, then my battery completely low, so I can't turn on the device.
Here I attach you 2 screenshots, hopefully it will helps you to understand.
    Thank you.

Did the battery drain previously? Have you installed any new applications? Try removing your battery and reinserting it after 30 minutes, or backup the stuff you need and completely wiping your phone. As a last resort you might have to buy a new battery, unless its a problem with the phone.

  • Battery Loss While Powered Off

I have a 3rd Gen iPad (64 GB, 3G) that I started using in August 2013 (It was brand new at the time, straight out of the box).
I didn't have many battery issues while iOS 6 was still out. I noticed after iOS 7 came out, that the battery drained quicker than it had before so I turned almost all of the fancy new features because longevity is my main goal.
After the iOS 7 update, I've noticed that when turning on the iPad after I turn it off (as in hold down the lock button and swipe the power icon, screen goes black) I lose battery life. One day, after leaving the iPad off for 12 hours, I went from 60% battery to about 30%. Another night, when I turned it off, it went from about 70% to 40%.
This doesn't quite make sense to me. I know that if I just lock it and put the display to sleep that it continues running in the background and that is the cause of the battery drain. By turning off the iPad, I am somehow using more battery than if I had just locked it.

i just called Apple- and this is what they said-
even though the screen in black, the light is off, the machine has stopped humming-
"macbooks take longer to shut down, so wait 5 seconds after screen is black and then shut the lid"
i am going to try this, but just to be sure, i wait a whole 5 minutes before closing the lid.
Apple person lead me through resetting (something- cant remember the name but is wasnt P- something it was like "resetting Controls" or something with a C)
    it was easy and fast
    1) shut down compu
    2) unplug all cables from compu
    3) take out the battery (turn machine over, turn circle/key thingy with coin)
    4) hold power button down for 5 seconds
    5) put battery back in
    6) turn compu back on
Apple person gave me her e mail to write if the problem should happen again.
i will experiment and let you know what happens

  • Why did Phone battery lose all power while shut-off ?

Yesterday, my iPhone 3Gs went completely dead. Finally a symbol appeared telling me to recharge the battery. Somehow, the battery got drained of all its power. I was in a state of shock as the battery strength was 84% the last time I used it. The phone was turned-off. I had been to the park but I kept the phone protected in a case. I notice it was very warm when I touched it. Is it possible the phone was running even though the screen was off? How could the battery drain with no use? What could be the explanation?  Luckily, I didn't miss any important calls for the 6 hours it went dead.

Are you using push/fetch for your mail account? If yes, could be that the phone got stuck connecting to the mail server while in sleep mode.
If your WiFi was active, could be that the connection was lost and the phone tried to serch for another WiFi spot to connect. A weak 3G connection can also cause the battery drain.

  • Battery drain even when iPod is off and hold button is on

The battery on my 20G click wheel is draining too fast.
If I do the battery test and let it run, it goes 12 hours fine. If I want to find certain songs or what-not, it drains the battery too quick. I know it does use more battery, but it's ridiculously to the point where clicking through to a few songs drains a quarter to half of the battery. I'm not leaving the backlight on, either.
Now, the battery seems to be running when the iPod is off and the hold button is set. The other day I charged it with the lock on, unplugged it, came back a day later and saw the charge was gone. Last night, I had half a charge when I turned it off, turned the hold on, and could hear a little noise through my headphones when I turned the hold on. Today, no charge.
Any ideas, or is my battery toast? I have already restored this iPod once, so I don't think it's a software problem.

  • ThinkPad E455 Excessive Battery Drains When Power Off

I bought a new ThinkPad E455 two months ago with AMD processor and I use Windows 7 (64-bit) as my operating system. The problem is, since a week ago, when I turn off my laptop (completely shut-down, not hibernating nor sleeping), the battery looses 14% in less than 24 hours. This problem has never happened before. When I search for solution, apparently my problem is similar to https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/11e-Windows-E-and-Edge-series/E535-High-battery-drain-when-laptop-is-powered-off/ta-p/1249897 and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/11e-Windows-E-and-Edge-series/E530-Battery-drains-and-power-manager-issue/ta-p/1249887 and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/11e-Windows-E-and-Edge-series/E440-battery-drains-when-powered-off/m-p/1527086/highlight/true#M18743. It appears that the power drains happened in other type of ThinkPad as well. Moreover, it seems that this problem is not limited to ThinkPad series (e.g: http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-2324931/laptop-battery-drains-powered-shutdown.html), and more surprisingly, some of other brands experience this condition as well. My question is, what causes the power drain? I mean, the laptop just worked fine for a period of time (in my case it is two months), if it was trigerred by something, what is it? I looked for the technical updating BIOS solution in http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht077068, but unfortunately the series E455 is not in the list. Of course, updating the BIOS using incompatible version is not recommended by the technical support. Please help me.

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Configuration_and_Power_Interface When you think the laptop is powered off it's actually in ACPI Power State S5 with power being supplied to the power button and some of the USB sockets. So, when you shut down the laptop and then removed the power cord, if the BIOS version was lower than 1.13, the laptop was still draining the battery.I followed your suggestion, and it seems solving the problem, thank you. However, another problem arises just recently. When I was playing a game on my laptop, the battery capacity is decreasing when the AC power connected (as described by both lenovo and Windows battery gauge). I post this problem in https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/11e-Windows-E-and-Edge-series/ThinkPad-E455-Battery-Capacity-Reduced-When-Connected-to-AC/td-p/2106218. Oddly, the problem (seems) does not occur when I quit the game to windows. Why was this happen?

  • Any GTX 285 owners?

I've been holding out for a mac edition radeon 5870... but I'm starting to think I can't wait anymore.
I'm curious if any GTX 285 owners have any feedback regarding performance of this card in snow leopard with aperture 3 compared to a previous card. (I guess this would apply to aperture 2 as well...)
I've read all the speed tests and issues with the drivers of the card and power management... but I'm particularly interested in comparing this with an Nvidia 8800GT.
This is almost impossible to benchmark, because at this point it seems the card will only affect image adjustment operations, I believe RAW decoding and background processing/exporting are CPU bound. If anyone has any before/after feedback of "perceived improvement" while adjusting images I'd like to hear it.
    Thanks!

Received the card and installed in my computer today... all I can say is WOW! This is how Aperture should run! Now, let me remind you, I'm coming from a GT 120, so this is probably to be expected. While I don't have technical data to support my claim, I can say that editing a wedding from this weekend was quick, painless and fun!
Let me just say that the GTX 285 is a huge video card. It's probably 4x the size of the GT 120. The fan looks like something I could use on a hot summer day to cool off with. Installation was a cinch and I didn't have to install any software before installing the card (must be due to Snow Leopard having the necessary drivers already).
Ok, now on to Aperture performance. My setup is an 8-Core 2.26 GHz, 6 GB memory Mac Pro with the GTX 285 running two 30" cinema displays. Upon uploading just under 1000 photos, I began editing right away. The photos loaded on my full-screen 30" display quicker than the GT 120, but not as quick as I expected. That is until I realized that Aperture was still processing all of the photos I had just uploaded. While it wasn't unbearably slow by any means, it was MUCH quicker once Aperture could give 100% of it's resources to the task at hand. Once all of the photos were processed, I could flip from photo-to-photo with the full resolution photo being displayed in under 2 seconds. On the GT 120, it sometimes took up to 5 seconds for the photo to 'Load'.
Editing the photos is such a joy now that I have a video card that can keep up. I applied a plethora of heavy edits on a single photo and didn't notice any slowdown in processing or performance. The only time Aperture gives me grief is when I'm applying the 'retouch' edit after doing several other edits. From what I've read, I believe the retouch is supposed to be down first before other adjustments are applied. No biggie, just something I noticed. All of the brushes painted the adjustments on smoothly and when I switched to the 'color overlay' there was no pause or load-time. It instantly showed the areas where the edits were applied! On the GT120, I would be waiting for 10-15 seconds for the color overlay to show on the screen.
Flipping through the browser is a breeze as well! All of the photos, no matter which size thumbnail they are, are loaded instantly. I literally can't scroll the page fast enough for the photos to not be loaded on the screen. The GT120 would leave several photos with a dashed, empty box when scrolling through the photos.
These are just some of the improvements I've noticed. Like I said before, I'm not a tech guru, but I love how Aperture is performing on my Mac Pro. It couldn't be any better and I believe the biggest reason for my performance increase was the GTX 285. Aperture 2 never ran this smooth.
