Do I have to deploy password in a bc4j application?

I've modified my defined database connection to disable the deploy password option, but the bc4j.xcfg file for my business components project using that connection still shows the password. I've tried editing the file in the XML editor, but the lines aren't editable. When I edit the file outside JDeveloper, the old version is instantiated over the edited version. When I tried to edit the connection properties from selecting "appmodule", "configurations", "properties", the deploy password and password value properties are not shown as properties available for editing.
Any idea how to get the bc4j.xcfg file to pick up these changes in the defined connections, or how to edit it?

Shutdown Jdev then edit with an editor.
Use datasource style of defining your connection, leave
the login and passwd fields blank in the AM wizard.
Or use your editor and remove the user/passwd from the
xcfg.
Search this forum on the ins and outs of going to a data-source.xml
place to configure username and passwd. There's issues if you want to
use your AppServer's global data-source.xml vs the one that get's packaged into
the .ear.
Good luck, curt
