Do these functions do the same thing efficiently?

public void windowClosing(WindowEvent evt) {

private void exitForm(java.awt.event.WindowEvent evt) {
     dispose();
System.exit(0);
AND
Do i have to call dispose() or will it dispose with the System.exit(0);

It will definitely dispose on System.exit since that's when the virtual machine shuts dows, freeing all possible resources allocated by your app.
