Does Apple Ever Fix Anything Based On A Forum Post?

While I'm a great fan of forums, and sharing the knowledge and experience of the community, I've known some companies that monitor forums and actually help fix problems posted. Does Apple ever do this? Or are they just too busy makin money...

My observation is, I see a few technical employees post right after a new release when dozens of folks post about having the same problem.
Like most companies, they prioritize bug fixes so the ones affecting the most customers get fixed first.
But for the most parts, discussion moderators only watch the forums to make sure the TOS are followed.

  • Does Apple ever actually do anything to improve re: user complaints? Wits end with Macbook Pro 15" wifi dropping constantly.

I bought a 15" Macbook Pro nearing a year ago and I've regretted it since about after a week of owning it. It's on 5.1.7
The wifi is terrible. Drops out daily. When it does, it usually takes at least a good 5 minutes and moving it to another position for it to work again. Sometimes longer. Often it'll do it back to back all night. I wish I could leave it most of the time, but I bought it to use when I wish and to work on. I also have to be about 20 meters or closer to the router to even have a chance at a connection. This is not the case with the Windows laptop in the same house. I can no longer use a laptop at my desk because it is too far away (about 5 metres further than the area it sometimes works)!
Moved the router. Done all that nonsense. Still crap.
It also struggles when I have as little as both Illustator, Photoshop and Safari open. Literally going insane with it.
I am constantly looking up ways to fix it. This forum pops up on every search. What I don't understand is, SO many people have the same problem yet there seems to be no real solution. Does Apple ever answer? This forum seems to be pages and pages of the same problem with the same amount of 'help' from other members that in many cases either you have to be techy to understand what they are even talking about or they've tried it all and are left with the same problem anyway. Square 1.
    - It should be noted that the inner workings of tech bores me to no end. I already know too much about it but I'm just not interested. If I was, I'd have went to uni and studied it. I just want something that I bought to function properly. Why hasn't there been a hardware update if this is a known hardware issue? etc etc etc

You have tried a different router or access point, correct?
You have updated the firmware on the router, correct?
You have tried different wireless security protocols on the router, correct?
You have taken it a Genius Bar, correct?
You have started from scratch and reinstalled a fresh system, correct?
What troubleshooting have you done besides move the router.

  • Does Apple ever respond to these inquiries? There are many who lost their wi fi connection over the weekend.

Does Apple ever respond to these inquiries.  As far as I can tell or read, many people lost their ability to connect to their wi fi over the weekend and nothing I
do fixes it.  So what shall I do next?

This a user-to-user forum.  From the terms of use of this forum:

  • If my mini ipad screen is broken does apple store fix it under the warenty?

IF my mini iPad is broken, does apple store fix it under warranty?

If in some extremely unlikely event the screen cracked on it's own, and you could prove that it happened that way, it would be covered under the warranty. However, you would have to have a very compelling case and great evidence that the screen cracked due to a manufacturers defect.

  • Has Apple ever fixed the fan issue that results from upgrading the hard drives on 2009-2010 iMacs?

Has Apple ever fixed the fan issue that results from upgrading the hard drives on 2009-2010 iMacs?
My CPU fan defaults to 3000RPM.  I can rev the fan higher with 3rd party Fan controllers, but no lower than 3K.

OR you can short out the original temp sensor, to make the fans rev at quieter speeds.
You can also install an optical temp sensor in place of the old one, it will still read temps and adjust the fans accordingly, just not as good as an internal sensor.
    Use something like this:http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-922-9229-Cable-Temp-Sensor-Optical-iMac-27-inch-Late -2009-2010-/111106349896

  • Did Apple EVER fix the alarm clock glitch?

At the rollover into the new year, alarms in the clock app had to be set for Every Day in order for them to work at all.
Did this ever get fixed? Is it fixed in 4.3? I know they just hosed up the DST rollover. Apple had hosed that last fall, too.
Seriously, Apple used to be the touchstone for high standards, but they have gotten pretty **** sloppy in the last year or so.

I agree completely apples iphone is becoming less then satisfactory. I like a ton of things about it but there is simply things that aren't included that should be and bugs that simply shouldn't exist. Its really making me consider another option.

  • Does Apple have fix for the Canon Digital Camera issue and 4.7 update??

    Hi All,
does anyone have any info about a fix for the communication issues with canon digital cameras and PPC users who updated to 10.4.7?
I think it's sad that a machine peopole buy to use for graphics can no longer download picture from a digital camera after up-daing software, as Apple recommends........
Alos, what is the kernel fix....?? any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bill Anderson

    Hi,
    What apple are you running?
I have a Digital Rebel XT with PPC G4 with update 10.4.7. And many users with PPC and the update are having the same issue.
Also, if apple would get their updates to the other groups (e.g CANON), then maybe these issues would not come up, but Canon told me "We just can not keep up with Apple updates, and we got the intel versions working, but PPC have toubles..."
OS updates should not affect peripherials such as digital cameras, and the computer does recongize the camera on the USB connection.
    thanks,
    Bill Anderson

  • How does Apple support its internationally based customers?

I am living in Canada at the moment, but my credit card is with a Hong Kong bank.  Apple's "smart" system underpinning the iTunes store cannot cope, it seems. And, it seems impossible to find access to a real person to find a work around.  Does anyone know how to solve such a problem?  I think it may be a factor in why certain applications are not upgrading properly (and of course can't know for sure becuae Apple wants to charge for the conversation.
    Insights most welcome.

    Dahveed,
Thanks, but not sufficient.  I am legal in more than one country (3 actually) and see no reason why I should have to open up credit cards everywhere when I have a perfectly valid card that I use internationally.
This seems to be another example of "smart system convenience" that is markedly inconvenient for the customer.
I appreciate your comment, but if Apple is not able to meet actual individual customer needs, there's a problem.

  • Will Apple ever fix the 12/31/200 date RSS Visualizer Screen Saver issue?

I had to reopen the discussion about the RSS Visualizer:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6474304
I realize Apple may think the rest of the world (ex. CNN, Digg, etc..) needs to change their RSS feeds, but why not fix the RSS screensaver so that it doesn't default to December 31, 2000 and show only 4 news stories for most feeds? Even most of Apples RSS feeds don't comply. And this is by design?

Better is to send bug reports and enhancement requests to Apple via its Bug Reporter system. To do the latter, join the Apple Developer Connection (ADC)—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report/enhancement request. The nice thing with this procedure over submitting feedback is that you get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.

  • Does anyone ever fix this headset problems?

Why is there no contact number or email doesn't work for creative. It gives me error on page. I'm ticked off that my mic doesn't work properly or perhaps faulty, it has no instructions or troubleshoot or says why the led light on the line control does not light up or suppose to even light up, i'm ticked off, will never buy another creative product, they have horrible customer service, to make it better, i can't even get a hold of them.....

Ok, after talking to the so called tech support people, they tell me I need to either revert back to winxp sp2 or use vista since creative does not have a driver for sp3.
Now, does that make sense to anyone? How can a company the size of creative not be in the loop when it comes to a upgrade like a service pack for a major operating system. And also, why does the microphone for my 3 year old platronics still work when a brand new much more expensive system does not.
By they way, this is about my microphone on my brand new fatal1ty gaming headset not being seen by windows. But I can hear it in the headphones so I know it works. Just windows and other applications will not see it.
The tech support people said that if I was not able to down grade my system then I should return the item. Hows that for tech support.
UPDATE: I was able to fix it myself with out degrading my system. So much for creatives solution!

  • Does Apple EVER give refunds???

So here's my tale: ordered a MacBook Pro from Apple. Got it. The hard drive was noisy as ****, I mean, you could hear this thing from across the room (my three year old Powerbook makes no noise). Anyway, took it to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store and they told me there was nothing they could do, it's just a noisy drive, in fact they said theirs was noisy too. So I called Apple. They were VERY kind and sent me a brand new Mac Book Pro, only guess what, this one is just as noisy! Every ten to twenty seconds you can hear the computer accessing the drive and it is loud. My feeling now is this is simply a design flaw or something to do with the drives they've chosen to use and I'd like a refund from Apple. Question: is a full refund even a possibility? I've owned Apple computers for YEARS and have never had to return one before. My fear is that Apple is going to refuse to give me my money back and will simply say they can send me another computer. Help! Has anyone ever gotten their money back?
    Thanks!

    Apple itself, i don't know.
I know that a lot of resellers do have that policy for certain circumstances.
Write down the drive brand, model and specs and have it swapped.
You can tell apple you want a different brand drive or see if the next one also has these issues, then you'll have something to show and a solid reason for a refund or new MBP with different drive.

  • Does Apple ever reply to message and help

My iTunes account is stuffed this Outlook has stuffed everything keeps asking me for a server name and i,v put them in and it will not accept it there's something really wrong and the new up date has that done something as well to my account like i,v never really had any problems

You are not talking to Apple. This is a user to user forum.
Tell us EXACTLY what's wrong or we can't help you.

  • Why with so many How can I fix what is broken with the itunes software, does apple not "fix" the software?

For Sale iPad 2,,, If I cant get ituens to work. There is no way that after a fresh install, the help tool bar should not work REALLY.

You'd get more knowledgeable answers if you posted in the appropriate forum - that would be iPad. This forum is to discuss the forums themselves.
When you re-post, please be specific on what you did and what happened.

  • FACTORY RESET YOUR PHONE - does it ever actually f...

Half the advice given here is to reset the phone.
A huge amount of time is then potentially spent reinstalling and reconfiguring the apps.
Indian "script monkey" call centres give that "advice" out all the time.
    Does it ever fix anything?
Especially as restoring the old backup is likely to restore whatever the old problem was. For example if your drive c: space was low, because you had loads of emails under Sent, those will go right back in. And I bet orphaned files which got stuck in the 1000484b directory will get put back too.

Not all the problems get resolved thru' Factory reset but yes, certainly some do .. Thats why you may need a Soft reset or a Hard reset to overcome certain other issues..
..and it depends on what is Backed-up. Its advised that you only back-up the important data such as Contacts / Calendar entries before the reset and restore them after the reset..Messages (not e-mails) may be synced with Nokia Suite if large in nos. so that phone memory is left free..My personal experience shows that when a phone is NEW, you tend to install a lot of applications, may be for fun or curiosity or for showing off and do not really need them. After the excitement dies down, Reset the phone and install only those you really rally need. Won't be surprised if the no. of applications re-installed are less than 50% of initially installed ..

  • How much does apple charge to fix a cracked screen?

Hi, how much does Apple to fix a cracked screen? I've been told it's £210.. Is this true? Thank you.

Yes, I can convert the currency but wasn't sure if the price would be the same in all countries. I am sorry if I offended you. I am grateful for your reply
