(funny since you already replaced the motherboard and hard drive, but OK sure) Call back on Jan 4th and we can get this escalated and fixed for you. Great
Jan 4th Contact HP Support. Sorry I see that we have received the prove of purchase however the warranty department has not yet updated it. (OK this is getting just plain stupid) Asked to transfer to someone who can get this done. over the next 2 1/2 hours IM transferred between sales/tech support/ and software training. (I didnt know HP even did software training) 3 times i was transferred and system booted me out..Finally get someone back at support who asks me to explain the problem and then tries to get me to restore the system. After a few minutes (heated on my part) he says there is nothing he can do for me and to call back tomorrow and the information will be updated and this issue can be finally resolved.
Jan 5th Contact HP Support. Anyone want to guess what happens?.... That's right first he tries to tell me to restore my computer (after i explain all of the above) I say screw that give me your manager IM done talking . He transfers me I get a "manager" who informs me that the ticket has been escalated but that he will escalate it further, and that someone will contact me 6pm est tomorrow to go through the process of repairing the unit, and perhaps exchanging it... Ok fine at least IM finally getting some where right?

Congratulations HP! all the years of using your Laptops and Printers and supporting you when I was in Computer Sales. GONE in 1 week. Funny thing is I was offered an Extended warranty from the BestBuy i purchased the unit and I said no I have had HP for years and they always been helpful.

Have you plugged in any new hardware besides the Power cord and the mouse?
If you have, when you plug that in, it should install the device software.
Try to isolate the problem.
If it's not hardware, it's an internal issue.
Try disconneting ALL things from the computer except Power cord and the USB Keyboard Receiver.
Try booting the computer,
if it gives teh same error it may be another issue besides the motherboard and hard drive.
Reply back with results.
I have more HP devices than you'd expect.
1 HP TouchPad 32 GB with Android
2 HP Touchsmarts (310-1000z and IQ527)
2 HP Printers (J6480 and J5750)

How to check whether the Application Server directory exits or not

Hi,
I have a selection screen in which I give the Application server file name(UNIX file) as input. Here, I would like to check whether the Server directory exists or not.
Let us say, the path I gave in the selection screen is /usr/sap/tmp/testfile.txt . Here, the file name is testfile.txt and the server directory is /usr/sap/tmp . I would like to check whether this directory /usr/sap/tmp exists in the server or not. I am not bothered about the file name as I am going to write data into the file. I am mainly concerned about whether the directory exists in the server or not. and one more thing... this is the Application Server path not the Local path.
Can anyone help me on the same how to check whether the server directory exists or not.

Also you can use the FM EPS_GET_DIRECTORY_LISTING for this purpose.
Store the directory name

Hi krishna,
In LabWindows/CVI, under the Library Tree, navigate to Libraries >> Programmers Toolbox >> File and then use the FileExists function. You can also use the GetFileAttrs function which returns 1 if the specified file is a directory. You can use the FileExists function on directories. Refer to the Using CVI to Programmatically Check File or Directory Existence KnowledgeBase as well.

Why does the explicit version not exist?

So all I really wanted was to buy the live version of Welcome to the Jungle from Guns N' Roses' Live Era ('87-'93) album. There's a clean version and an explicit version of the album, yet neither one lists the song as explicit.
When I look it up on YouTube and it has that "buy this song" thing, if I try to go to iTunes it only goes to the non marked as explicit version on the explicit album.
Since the song clip doesn't include the first few seconds, I have no idea if this is actually the explicit version (which is what I want) but just not marked. And I don't want to waste $1.29 to buy it and find out it's the clean version.
So does it just not exist on iTunes? Or did it like used to exist but not anymore?

Easiest way to solve this is to check the mara table in R/3. try and find your material there. If its not there, then it either has been manually created or loaded from a different source system. Check all the source systems if anyone has loaded them. Then check your cubes and ODSs if you can find any transactional data for these materials. If yes, then there is a possiblity that maybe it was created to correct a failed load. You should then identify the document and compare the same on in R/3.
If this material is used in any transaction data, then you can simply delete it. RSA1-> Find the infoobject(characteristic)-> Maintain master data-> Give the material nos-> select the row and press the delete button.

If you are running Tiger, you don't have time machine.
You need to get something like SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner (sorry, I don't have a handy link for CCC but you can Google it to get their site) to make a clone of your drive on the external and then do incremental backups. The free versions do a lot and you can upgrade to the full-service versions for small change if you need more. The one time I used SuperDuper! for cloning a volume it worked just fine.
(My backup application is the last PPC capable version of Retrospect, which does a credible job, or has over the past ten-twelve years.)

I want to change Material Master data. I have downloaded the material list from data base table MARC plant data for materials.
i want to extend the material master view. but system is issuing the error message - Material dose not exists or not activated. Also it is not showing the material in MM03 & MM60.
But in data base table MARC it is showing the material code with details.

The material type must be HAWA, well you would be able to get this info, if an entry in MARA exists. So from where are you getting the material type?
Anyways just check this, enter the material nos. in MM01 & select Basic Data 1 & click create, check what message you get, should provide you the clues. Also check how this material was created. It could be possible that it was created via some custom program.
Creat the view & then you will be able to resolve the issue. Check the above & revert if you face any issues.

Pages will not Save or SaveAs b/c "No such file or directory exist"

Have been using Pages for years, and this problem blocking save/save as just popped up. Now can’t save or save as some files; instead get warning that “No such file or directory exist.” Inconsistent. Some files can be saved w/o problem.

How do I determine if a file exists or not on my PC?

I thought this would be an easy one and maybe I am just making it harder than what it has to be. I simply want to search in a given directory to see if a file exists on not on my hard drive. Are there any ideas as to how to do this without causing an error if the file does not exist?

and close it inmediatly, if I find out and error while opening it
I guess it doesn't exist. I know this is not the best way since there
may be other reasons for the Open File Function to fail, but it has
worked for me. Does somebody know a better way to do it?

I have a directory path as an input parameter to my stored procedure. I would like to validate the path. i have seen several examples using xp_fileexist. Are there any gotchas when using this? It sounds like it will not work for unc paths (\\asdfasdf\asfas).
But does a security setting need to be turned on? is there another way to validate a path?

File.exists() is not accurate on smb2 network share (use WatchService?)

According to this document: SMB2 Client Redirector Caches Explained File.exists() is not accurate on a smb2 network share. I am not able to change any register settings, so I want to deal with it. According to the document there is an API to get the notifications from the file system. I assumed that the WatchService is the Java implementation of this API. Am I correct?
I started with the WatchDir example from the jdk samples and stripped it a bit. I only need to know when a file is created and delete (I don't care about file modifications). For testing I have added new File.exists() when a new event has been triggered. I also start a separated Thread which test the file existence also. When I don't start this separated thread the file exists returns true immediately. When the extra thread is started it is not accurate any more. I need a more accurate file.exists check in the whole application and all running threads.
The output for my test case is this:

As the user in question, when I browse \\san.f.q.d.n\share$\username, the BACKUP directory exists, but there are no sub directories.
I manually created the sub directories, USERNAME\USMT - so the full path now exists: \\san.f.q.d.n\share$\username\BACKUP\USERNAME\USMT
I re-ran USMT but the process returned the same error.
If I specify other shares not on san.f.q.d.n but on san1.f.q.d.n or server.f.q.d.n or even workstation.f.q.d.n, it works fine.
Can someone provide guidance on how to troubleshoot this further?

In Windows, setting the Environmental Variable sometimes DOES NOT WORK.
The -Djava.io.tmpdir=C:\temp setting must be made in the server properties of the oc4j in order for it to work.
