Does Firefox have an equivalent of IE 9's System Restore? Quote: " It helps you restore your computer's system files to an earlier point in time."

If, for example, when using IE 9, I download something that causes my computer to misbehave, I can use IE 9's "System Restore" capability to revert my hard drive back to a point in the past when the drive was running correctly. The software will show me the "safe points" in time to which I can revert; I select one of the proposed times, run System Restore, and the computer will work as it did at the time I selected.

amin.mina.it -- You are right. Windows System Restore will restore your system to whatever the date you dedicated. If you are having any problems with your PC, or even problems with your browsers, you can always choose to restore your system to an earlier date. Please read this thread for further details.

If you are having problems with Firefox only but not your PC, you can just follow cor-el's instruction to do a clean reinstall instead. If you decide to do a System Restore, and having problems with Firefox afterward, follow cor-el's instructions also to fix the problem.
Good luck.

  • Does Firefox have a feature like the software named Robo-form, where like if you wanted to go to your gmail, you could click on one thing, and not have to inter user name and password every single time?

Some times in Firefox I see pop ups where Firefox is allowing you to make Firefox remember a password or some such thing like that.
I want to go to an account or web site where I have already registered, type in my user name and password and then before I log in, have Firefox remember my log in information, so that in the future I could go to a folder let's say, that has a list, and just click on the one item, spending less time logging in at places.
Is this something Firefox does, or do I have to say, use a software like Robo-form?

I used to have auto-fill for contact info with another program, where I stored my contact info once, and then whenever a form popped up to be completed, just hit auto-fill and the info auto-populated. Does firefox have this? If so, how can I get it? Thanks!

  • Why does Firefox have to make it so difficult to get answers--I am not going to be able to check the website to see what anyone might reply to my question on crashing?

I have no way of checking to see if anyone answers this. Why does Firefox have to make it so difficult?
What does this means: DLL C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\MOZCRT19.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
Suddenly all my tabs closed. Then Windows told me I had a gazillion infections. Then a tiny strip appeared saying it was Firefox and these little blocks started to fill up the little strip as if it were downloading something--there was no way to cancel this so I cut the power. Now when I try to use the Firefox icon, I get the message above.
Am I supposed to remove the old Firefox stuff and start from scratch? I am stuck using Internet Explorer.
I went to the Firefox website and tried to download it again, but McAffee jumped in and said there is something wrong with Firefox and I should register with them that I am downloading Firefox (I do not have McAffee). Then I got a security warning saying Firefox is not safe.
I am completely at a loss as to what to do next, since I don't understand any of this mumbojumbo.

Here's the story on one of your infections, namely JS:Redirector-EH[Trj]: http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Threat/Encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?Name=Trojan%3aJS%2fRedirector.H
The main problem with malware is that it uses the installation to proliferate by contacting hostile servers to download more of the same rogue code.
Firefox doesn't have the option to "Run" a file. You can only "Save File" or "Cancel". If you downloaded it with IE8, then yes, you can run it, but that's not what I wanted you to do.
What you should do now is to disable System Restore. You can open System Properties by hitting the Windows logo key and Pause/Break key together. Then click the "System Restore" tab. Then checkmark the box which says "''Turn off System Restore on all drives''". Reboot to clear its contents. System Restore unfortunately makes a backup of all executables which includes viruses so that when you reboot without deleting them first, System Restore reinstates them again.
After you complete that step, run Avast and Malwarebytes again to make sure the system is clean.
Then go to the Windows Update site (link on your start menu) and install the missing patches which enabled your machine to become infected in the first place.
Once the system is clean, repeat step one to download Firefox again, but please do not run the file. If you don't see the option to "Save File", cancel the download, but it should be there. • Does Firefox have Active X? If not, how do I get it?

I am trying to download practice sessions from Microsoft for MS Excel. It said that it could not download the session because my browser did not have Active X. Does Firefox have active X and I have not turned it on? Or how do I get it? Please realize that I am not very computer literate.

I have been trying to find printer color profiles that Photoshop gives you access to.  Normally they are in files of type .icc.  However, I did find that a lot of printer profiles are in files of type .profile.  Actually files of type .profile contain several different color profiles.  It turns out you can open up the contents of the .profile files by right clicking and selecting show package contents.  It is another finder window.  You can copy the contents to another directory.  That is what I needed because of a beta package I am testing that needed the actual printer profile .icc file.  It is all working now.  However, I am still disappointed that I cannot use Finder to find all of my .icc files on my Macintosh hard drive.

  • Does pages have an equivalent for Word's option of viewing a document in "online layout"?

Does pages have an equivalent for Word's option of viewing a document in "online layout"?

With online layout you can have the page of your document fill up as much of the screen as you want while being able to zoom the viewing of your text or words to any percentage you want. In pages, I can zoom or stretch the document to fit the full width of the screen, but the view the actual text or words themselves correspondingly enlarges as well.

  • Does firefox have anything similar to MSN games? can't find it, and I miss the interaction from texas hold'em and hearts.

Msn games allows for multiple online players to compete in a variety of games---it looks like firefox is not supported on this[disappointed], nor does firefox have anything close to this up and running.

'''Edit: '''According to the additional information in your post, you already do have Flash and Java installed. Sorry I didn't notice that before.
'''Edit #2: '''I took a look at Hearts and you're right: Microsoft prevents you from playing in any browser other than Internet Explorer. I think you will still have to use IE to play those games.

  • Does Firefox have a url autocomplete shortcut, like IE's shift+enter?

Internet Explorer has a handy feature when typing in url's. When you begin typing and the autocomplete drop-down box pops up, you can press shift+enter to automatically finish typing the top entry and go to that site. Does Firefox have that kind of functionality? I haven't been able to find it in preferences or about:config.

    Yes, see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Location+bar+search
It doesn't work anymore in Firefox 7 if there are multiple domains like support.mozilla

Firefox doesn't have a true "autofill", but rather a form autocomplete. <br />
    [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Form+autocomplete] <br />
'''The difference being that form autocomplete recalls form data you have completed previously, and sometimes has totally inappropriate suggestions. Whereas, autofill uses data that you set up ahead of time - not "form history", and has a lot better accuracy.'' <br />
There are a number of extensions that add a true "autofill" to Firefox. <br />

Firefox should save the download location as part of the data of each downloaded file in downloads.sqlite, but I do not think that there is a user interface to make that data visible.
The SQLite Manager shows that data in the Target field.
