Does TotalPageCount affect report execution on production as well ?

Hi... As part of the mass report generation process an employee report needs to be run on production every month. The process runs for almost 2000-3000 customers and generats report for each of them. The static copies of this report is any mailed to each of tehse customers. The repot design uses TotalPageCount in a formula in the Page header of the report. I know use of this formula affects performance during report viewing. But does the use of TotalPageCount affect the report execution time when the report is being generated in mass numbers on production and scenario of report viewing does not exist ?

In my case, yes, the PDF reports are generated and then seperately mailed/emailed to the customers. What are the ways you are referring to so that the report performance can be improved ?
The java application calls the RAS with the required input parameters. The RAS execution code is abstracted and is not accessible to us. The PDF generated by RAS is stored at some physical location.
For your reference, my main report uses many subreports. I have done a detailed analysis of the report and no way can i get away with these subreports
There are some things I have noticed and would be glad if you could confirm the same :
1. I notice that there are many print time and on demand formulas present in the subreports but are not used. Should I remove them ? Does there presence affect report performance ?
2. Is there any way that performance of charts can be improved ?
3. Does using a lot of shared variables affect report performance ?
4. I have identified a few stored procs where the sorting can be transfered from report to stored procedure.
5. Is there an alternative way i can create the same effect for Page(TotalPageCount) in the page header without affecting the look of the report and also improving the performance of the report ?

    We have a report that is currently run on a unix reports server. It completes within 3 minutes , sometimes 5. We moved this to a windows based reports server, this takes more than an hour.
    I tried to run this on my local report builder on windows and it takes extremely long. The same report with the same parameters runs fast on the unix server.
    I created the trace file for this report, it seems like a lot of time is spent executign the queries. Why should a change in platform affect the query performace .. Any ideas please . This is a 6i report.

    RAM , Free space avaialble, processor number, speed , latest operating system version/patches

  • Discrepancy in report execution duration

    Hello,
    Everyday we are executing audit reports which tells us report execution time for all our daily scheduled reports. Here we have observed some discrepancy between the time shown in the instance history verses auditing report's data. For example, if XYZ report took 120 seconds to execute, our auditing report shows 110 seconds only (-10 sec difference); however instance status in report history shows 120 sec only.
    Here are environment details:
    Product: SAP BI 4.0 SP6 Patch 6
    Server OS: Windows Server 2008 R2
    CMS DB: Oracle 11g R2
    Auditing DB: Oracle 11g R2
    We would like to know why there is a difference? Please advise!

    Issue resolved after doing multiple activity.
    - Adding 2 new cluster in PRD environment, After refering Server sizing Guide from SAP
    - Adding 4 new Web Intelligence Processing Server in PRD environment
    - Assign Static port in all 4 Nodes, Previously it was Dynamic Ports
    - Proper spiliting of APS as per SAP APS Sliting KBA (1792286 ,1694041)
    - Change Maximum Connection Paremeter in Web Intelligence Processing Server, Because we have more Web Intelligence Business user to view the Web Intelligence reports.By Default SAP provided 50 Connections.
    - Change in Tomcat Parameters like

  • Report Execution issues after cube comperssion

    Hi Everyone.
    We had performance issues with respect to report execution in SAP portal. After the analysis we have realised that the cube is growing in its size and reached 200 million already.
    As per SAP suggestion, we had compressed the cube and the reports started running faster than before.
    Now, after the release we have realised that some report executions with hierarchy expansion are caused exception in BEX web application.
    Below is the error that we receive
    When verified the query, we identified that  "Active" was set to "Suppress Zeros" query properties and when we modified it is " Active ( All values =0)" it was working fine.
    Could not figure out the reason behind this.
    Any quick response is much appreciated.

    Just wanted to help others on this issue if they face in future.
    We are basically in patch 3 and SAP recommended to upgrade the system to patch 10 to solve this issue.
    We are still in the process of doing this as it needs approvals, testing etc to be done.
    Hope this will be solved after this upgrade and I will post the result in this blog.

    Is there any limitation when using Multi value attribute in set type which is used for Individual object in IB?
    I have succeed in implementation of Multi value variable feature in CRM 4.0 . this change is irreversible so I wish to know what are the _risks moving it to production.
    (We use IB VERY heavily with single value attributes)
    Does it affect performance? other features?

    due to the pain of sending the single value attribute in production,we usually try create multi value attribute so that multidimensional usefulness takes place.
    i really don see any limitation and risk sending those in production,infact it will serve u a good cause there
    just procede with that,so far we havent observed any defect doing that in projects

  • How to view report execution Log files on RAS Server

    I wish to view the log files that are generated when a crystal report is run. In my application the crystal report is triggered from java application. The report templates are stored on the BO server. The report is executed converted to PDF and then returned back to java app for viewing. I need the execution logs and the activities performed by the server for this report generation.
    1. Where can I find the log file with this information on the server?
    2. Are there any setting required to be made to capture these information ? If yes, where and ho can I make these settings ?

    Thank you very much for your reply. I am fairly new on working on the Admin side and this is my first opportunity to be managing some tasks of this role. I have majorly been a CR report designer.
    The answers to your questions are as below :
    1. The reports are developed using CR 2008.
    2. I have access to the CMC. The product version as specified in the settings tab is Product Version:  12.1.0.882 .
    3. The Dev application programming language is Java(Spring,hibernate etc)
    4. I have access to BusinessObjects Enterpriseu2122 XI Release 2 Administratoru2019s Guide. However I couldnt find anything that can give me report execution information.
    Am I looking at the correct application (CMC) and docs ? If not, what is the correct BO application I should be using to enable  Iogging. In the settings tab, I can however see that Auditing is enabled. Below is the complete information I can see under Properties in the Setting tab of the CMC application.

  • Tracing report execution Problem

    I am trying to trace report execution which gives me some problems!!!
    First i tried to use report builder (via tools --> trace option) to add tracing options and then when i executed the report using View--> Runtime Priview it does not produce the trace file. This works if i am using Live Previewer instead of Runtime Preview.
    But what i need is the trace file of runtime Previewer as it is giving me some problem.
    If i programatically do it using report triggers using SRW built-in packages then the report builder itself closes and says RWBLD60 has generated an Error. Since my report is very complex i need the help of report tracing to confirm the flow and execution. Please can somebody shed some light into this problem....
    It will be great if anyone tell me how to do it!!!!!.
    i am using Windows 2000 & Reports 6i (6.0.8.11.3). IS THIS A BUG IN REPORTS 6i????

    The first thing I would do if I were you would be to upgrade to the latest patch version (we're up to about 6.0.8.23 now).
    If you're still having problems with tracing you could contact support, or workaround by testing the report with rwrun60 and adding the tracing options on the command line.

  • Finesse CUIC Gadget hanging: "Requesting report execution..."

    My company is getting ready to deploy Cisco UCCE 10.5 with Finesse 10.5(1). From what we have heard through Cisco partners, IE is not the preferred browser to use with Finesse.
    One of our business requirements for Finesse is to have a dashboard displayed with Precision Queue statistics to which the agent does not necessarily belong. We plan on doing this using a CUIC dashboard with the CUIC gadget on the agent desktop. However, in Firefox and Chrome, the CUIC gadget gets stuck with a message that says, "Requesting report execution..."
    We have had certificate issues with IE, and as such, would prefer to use Chrome or Firefox (preferably Firefox, since Chrome has some issues with resizing Finesse gadgets). I found a similar question here: https://communities.cisco.com/docs/DOC-50278, but the final reply was a bit vague for me. I have tested creating an iframe in a separate html page that links to the CUIC dashboard, and it also does not work in Firefox or Chrome, but does work in IE. This indicates that the issue is not a Finesse issue per se, but more browser related.
    Does anyone know of a workaround to get the CUIC dashboard to load in Firefox or Chrome, or is the CUIC gadget simply unusable with those browsers, forcing us to use IE?

    Hi,
    I've tried with the dCloud environment. it is UCCX 10.5.1.10000-24.
    Neither CUIC or EmbeddedApp gadgets from Cisco Developer community can render a CUIC permalink report in Finesse Desktop if I use Firefox. It keeps saying Requesting Report Execution for ever.
    Using Internet Explorer made the trick.
    On dCloud it is IE9 and FF27.
    Using my machine with FF34 it is the same.
    there must be some issue between the gadget and FF iFrames...
    Have you found a solution?
    Have you tried upgrading the UCCX to the latest SU or 10.6?

  • Report deployed on production server show different data from that in debug mode

    Hi,
    i have created a report that use temporary tables and when i get the preview on Management Studio show some data, but when i deploy the same report on the production server i see that the data is different!!!!
    To check this issue i create a simple table on which i transfer the results data before to show it on the report and with my surprise  the number of rows of the production execution is less than the debug execution!!!!
    Notice that i use the same value for the report parameters.
    Any idea?

      Check in your solution folder and try to find .data file.
      Delete the data .Data file on the same name of your report and run the report from SSMS.

  • Does it affects existing SSAS Database if i deploy new one with the changes on existing cube solution file

    Somehow we lost the solution file for workingcube in prod and i have imported from the prod server and created new solution file.
    While importing from server, I have renamed the database name and solution name. I need to do some changes in this cube and deploy it as a new one on the same server (testing purpose). What my question is if i deploy this 'test' cube on the same server(Prod),
    does it affect existing cube on Prod since it was imported from that server Database.

    The name of the solution is not overly important. What you need to check are the deployment properties. Right click on the project in the solution explorer, and check the settings for the target server and target database name under the deployment section. 
    As long as your deployment target database name is different to the one that is already deployed it will not affect the existing one in any way. However for insurance I would recommend also taking a backup of the production database. That way if anything
    does go wrong you can always just restore the back up.

    I've never done a db patch set update, and from what I've read today, I will need to do a full installation of 11.2.0.4 to have this patch set applied.
    This sounds scary and being a rookie Oracle DBA, what does this mean to my existing Oracle Database installation (Oracle 11GR2 on Windows Server 2008R2)?
    If I do an out-of-place upgrade (Oracle recommended), and create a new home, what will happen to the existing schemas/etc?
    My application is configured to connect to SERVERA, SID=123 so when I install a new home, etc, does this change anything? I've read I need to modify the tnsnames files in my new home to be similar to my current tnsnames file..
    Basically, I want to upgrade to patchset 11.2.0.4 b/c it's supposed to address a bug I have, but I want to be able to keep the 'settings' the same for the end users/applications (SERVERA, SID=123).

    You have to remember that the database software/binaries are separate from the database itself.  Typically, you first install the software (like you did for 11.2.0.3) and then create a database. Best practice states that the location of the database files should be outside/different then the location of the binaries.
    When you install your new 11.2.0.4 in a new location, that is all that you are doing - the install does not affect the existing database. Once the 11.2.0.4 software is installed, you can upgrade the database by following the steps in the upgrade guide (the database files stay where they are, but the database gets upgraded from 11.2.0.3 to 11.2.0.4) and when the upgrade is completed successfully, the old (11.2.0.3) binaries can be de-installed at leisure.
