Does Verizon send plain clothesed sales people to customer's homes?

Hello,
Today the same individual visited my home on three occaisions.  He would knock but by the time I got to the door he was gone.  I have him on camera.  I was finally able to get to the door in time to speak with him.  He said he was from Verizon and asked about my DSL service.  I didn't see anything on him that indicated he worked for Verizon. I told him I wasn't interested in changing anything, I closed the door and he left.
Now I am wondering if Verizon actually sends sales people to customer's homes.
Can someone from Verizon comment on this?
Thank you.

As CRobGauth noted, door-to-door sales folk are most likely working for 3rd party marketing companies and not Verizon.  There are many complaints about these types of folks making promises about service deals such as free activation  that aren't backed by Verizon.  I would suggest that you deal only with Verizon directly through their web site, phone sales or online chat.
Good Luck.

  • Does verizon give a "your number has been blocked"

Hello.  just a quick question.  i had to block someone from sending texts or calling my cell phone.  my question is what on their end will they receive once Ive blocked them and they try to text me?  does Verizon send a reply telling them they have been blocked?  id rather not want to have to tell this stalker type person they have been blocked?

Hello gagcas! Good question!! I want to thank Budone for his great idea about how to determine what blocked callers are treated to when they try to reach you. In the event that you haven't had the chance to follow budone's advice, here is the script of what blocked callers get when they call you:
"Welcome to Verizon Wireless. The number you were trying to reach has calling restrictions which has prevented the completion of your call."
I do hope that helps. Have a great day!

  • Does Verizon ever provide a different model phone if the customer has basically had the same issues with 3 prior 'replacemet' (refurbished) phones?

I have owned a Samsung Galaxy Stellar for the about the past year and a half, which is only my second smartphone. I am not a whiz at all this but I'll try to be coherent. I had problems with the Stellar  from the beginning: Very slow loading browser, problems with the cursor, etc. After about 6 months, the phone dropped, and no, I didn't throw it on the ground!
I have insurance and it was still under warranty, so it was replaced, by Assurian, I believe. The replacement phone had the same problems, plus a whole lot more. During calls, the wifi, and/or Bluetooth options would appear, or the phone would suddenly go on mute. In addition, when I tried to access my voicemail, what I heard was my own voice and outgoing message, not the one from Verizon asking for the password. These problems were intermittent, which made the Verizon employees  dubious, but it's like the car that you take to the garage that suddenly works fine. Anyway, there were some other problems too, so I got a replacement phone again, which is the phone I currently have had for about 3 months. A few days ago it went from bad to worse. In fact it went Crazy!: Every call I make or receive is immediately dropped. Maybe after 5 or 6 tries, I can  complete a call, but rarely. When I do, the mute and speaker options spontaneously activate, at the same time!!  When I go into my voicemail, the messages are deleted in rapid fashion, one after the other, and I cannot get them back.   Or, as I said earlier, the Wifi/Bluetooth screens appear, and it's difficult to punch in any numbers as I have to hit the back arrow many times. Strangely, the phone makes odd sounds: It buzzes or makes this odd chiming sound! If I didn't know better, I would think that I have finally lost my mind! I could go on but you have the gist.  The phone is simply not workable. I  phoned tech support, and she was very nice. After an hour on the phone, it worked ok, until the following day. She didn't do a factory reset, but she had me take the sim card and battery out. She did things on her end, which unfortunately I don't recall, but the phone worked ok until the following day, when it went crazy again.
I took it to the corporate Verizon store where I live, The guy said "It's a lousy phone, a cheap, bottom of the line phone." By the way, throughout this time, I had had about 6 hours with tech support, between this phone and the last one.
THIS IS MY QUESTION: I asked him if I could have a totally different phone, since this model is clearly defective. He said no, but they could send me another replacement. He told me to call trech support  while I was there in the store and ask them, because they don't do repairs at the store. The tech on the phone  told me the issue is with my Gmail account! That there is a virus on some phones and each time I get a replacement phone, because I have kept the same Gmail account, the virus keeps getting 'transferred', for lack of a better word, to the next phone. I was totally incredulous. Virus? She said, "Well, I use the  term loosely, but it's just a weird glitch. When you get a replacement phone, bring it back and we'll save and upload all your data, and set  you up with a new email account." I was confused and annoyed, as I had never heard of this, and felt I was getting the runaround. I asked her if they could give me a different phone (free of charge) and of course the answer was no. By the way, I should mention that the Stellar is no longer made. These are my options, according to the 3 different Verizon employees I spoke with: I am eliblele for the early upgrade which they call the Edge. From what I understand, it's the full retail price paid out over 2 years, with a partial payment made at time of purchase. One person told me that after 24 months, they would accept what I paid as payment in full? Sounds too generous. Option 2 is $50 of a new phone, and option 3 is to buy a new phone at a Verizon store that is having an android sale. So, I acquiesced to getting another replacement which I will keep until I buy a new totally different phone. My impression is that it's not like buying a bad toaster. They don't refund your money and let you get whatever you want for the same price! My question is this: Does Verizon ever just replace a phone that has had problems, with a totally different model? I have made as much of a stink as I can muster towards that end, but I am wondering if anyone out there has actually been able to pull that off?
Thank you for any feedback ,comments or stories!

amysue, We defintely want you to have a reliable and working phone. Our apologies that you have had issues with the current model, the Galaxy Stellar. After reviewing information about the overall function of the phone, it does not appear that Samsung has recalled the device or stated that all Stellar devices are defective, with that being said, the warranty would still only cover the same make and model. The only time a completely different phone is sent out is if the manufacturer deems the entire make and model overall faulty. It is common to have a few glitches and a master/factory reset, in addition to all other troubleshooting, will help resolve these issues. The Stellar is no longer made because there have been several Samsung galalxy devices launched, and this is common with any device manufacturer. Our recommendation is to take advantage of EDGE, if you are seeking a new device with low monthly payments. This gives you the chance to explore different device options without having a contract and you can EDGE up to a new device once meeting certain requirements. We hope to resolve your concerns here or by calling customer support.

  • Why does Verizon charge me $30 to buy a new phone and renew my two year plan?

Why does Verizon charge me $30 to buy a new phone and renew my two year plan?  That seems counter-intelligent in a day where other carriers are begging for my business. I've been a customer for 10 years but am considering switching on principle.

    rcschnoor
I'm sending my bill in exchange for a provided service. The activation fee is garbage, and IMO, if smaller carriers can live without it (because they are), Verizon doesn't need to charge it. Frankly, I'm tired of people settling because "The fee isn't going away." If you agree with it, so be it, but you're the minority.
You are correct, just because other people do it, doesn't make it right. It also "doesn't make it wrong".
Verizon has chosen a price they charge for providing a service. Part of that price is an "upgrade" fee if you choose to purchase a phone at a ~$400 discount. ALL this is doing is lowering the amount of discount on the phone. It is, however, the price Verizon has set to provide their service. You are paying it in exchange for that provided service. You may not agree with it, that is your choice and are free to go elsewhere. If you are in the position to pay this "upgrade" fee, you are NOT under contract and are free to change without penalty. Your choice. If you pay it, you have made your choice.
Yes, other "smaller carriers" can live without it because they are forced to, not because they "want" to or because it is "right". They have to have some sort of incentive to attract customers. The bigger carriers do this by providing a larger footprint for their service. Smaller carriers cannot do so and have to resort to other methods. Lower price is one of those. There are trade-offs in life. Choose your trade-offs. I prefer to pay a slightly higher price for more reliable service. I have been with several providers in the past, Verizon provides me the most reliable service of those I have tried.

  • Does Verizon have plans to expand coverage into Mouth of Wilson, VA area soon?

Does Verizon have plans to expand coverage into Mouth of Wilson area soon. A competitor did US Cellular. Would like verizon to do so also.

Ok, it took you two days to come up with that response. Just the fact that
I have to contact "Prepaid Customer No-service" as apposed to customer
service contacting me (you know who I am) reiterates the point. Why are
there two different customer services? 'Why does it matter which type of
plan that I have as to who I can speak to?
I work in a customer service business. If I treated my customer half as bad
as you do, I wouldn't have a job. My customers have certain expectations of
what I can and can't do. First and for most "NO" is not an option. You
never tell a customer that, period.
The truly sad thing is that Verizon has a great product. But they aren't
willing to stand behind it. I went to Verizon because you have the best
coverage. However, every interaction I have since the initial sale has been
horrible. I will give your people a week to contact me directly. After that
I will have a new phone from a new carrier.

No. Verizon does not supply outward facing public IP addresses for residential accounts. That would be the WAN IP that could be seen and used on the public side of your router. To get a static IP for your WAN address you would need to have a Verizon business account, flat out plain and simple, no conflicting information. Regardless if it is a HSI or FiOS account the Static IP is optional for small businesses, and yes it does cost more.
    http://search.verizon.com/?st=zz&tp=s&rv=s&q=Static+IP
If you want to be able to contact your router remotely based on a domain or domain host Dynamic IP, there are various companies that do this. You would just configure port forwarding to the service and computer on your internal network. A free host ID on their domain or a paid domain name with more elaborate features. I have used both at one time or another. The last time was for a temporary speed test server I was running for network speed tests on my GPON 150/65 connection I had. Some people use it for security cameras, or home control systems where they do not wish to connect through a third party. There are many reasons for wanting this. But remember, it is against Verizon's TOS to run a server on a residential account. But I have only heard of them going after someone with a warning because of excessive traffic being generated on a FiOS account.

  • Dishonest door-to-door ATT sales people

    ATT
Anybody have a good phone number and contact name for reporting door-to-door sales people preying on the elderly? I've tried calling general support number (5942), sales (2020) "escalation" (0789). Have tried to speak to a manager each time. I just get put on hold forever or told that the manager is busy.
In meantime, please advise your loved ones of the following scam:
ATT salesman wearing badge knocks on door to let homeowner know that neighborhoods' old wiring and in particular wiring on homeowner's street is being replaced. Homeowner will now have faster connection. This is just a friendly visit not selling anything. Just an FYI about what ATT is doing for its customers. But--will need to replace old modem for her free of charge. Just need to sign this piece of paper ...
He didn't identify himself as a salesman said he was an installer (implied he was PR person).
Thank goodness I was called before anything was signed. I actually talked to this person on the phone and before the conversation ended, I was given 3 different stories. the last of which he finally admitted that he was upgrading her ATT phone and internet and switching her cable to ATT. REALLY?!
I have the paperwork, my relative would have signed which included a contract, a new modem, switching cable service from Comcast to ATT and more.
My relative had no idea what was being signed. The salesman was, "so polite and said I didn't have to pay for anything".
Is there anyone at ATT willing to step up to the plate to fire people like this? My relative let this person into her home without thinking twice because she trusts ATT. Would your elderly relative do the same? This must be stopped!

The door-to-door sales people wear shirts with an AT&T logo, but they work for a independant sales contractor that AT&T does business with.
You can click this Customer Service link to send a Private Message (PM) to the AT&T customer service team to help you report this incident, though it is not clear to me how much impact it will have, but at least you'll have done what you can. You can expect a reply via return PM (the blue envelope   in the upper right hand corner of this site, next to your avatar and name) in a business day or three.

  • How to send PLAIN text email from sp_send_dbmail using SQL Server 2008 R2?

I have configured Database Mail in SQL Server 2008 R2 (64) and it sends emails just fine. However the destination is recieving the body of thes message as Base 64 encoding.
    Snippet:
    EXEC msdb..sp_send_dbmail @profile_name='Outmail', @recipients = @recpts, @subject = @subj, @body_format = 'TEXT', @body=@body2;
As you can see I set @body_format to TEXT, but it still sends Base 64. I need to send plain ASCII text. How can I change this?

I am having this exact issue too.  I have a trigger that sends an email using a stored procedure.  The dbmail is sending the email using the Exchange 2010 server SMTP.  It does not login so the email is relayed as user = "Anonymous".
The SQL dbmail email header is showing the following:
    Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
    MIME-Version: 1.0
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthSource: MX01.domain.local
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthAs: Anonymous
Here is the header if I send via Outlook profile using the legacy program I am trying to automate using SQL Server 2008R2:
    Content-Type: application/ms-tnef; name="winmail.dat"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: binary
    MIME-Version: 1.0
    X-MS-Has-Attach:

I think I use SSL or something else, but I dont know how to do by using Mail adapter..
Or Why do i get this error ?
    Thanks

    Hello Tuncer,
In your case, you need to first enable SSL on your PI server, which requires some effort. Here are the links for SSL configuration for AS ABAP and AS Java:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/0d/a22640632cec01e10000000a155106/content.htm
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/56/a12640632cec01e10000000a155106/content.htm
After that, you need to exchange client certificates between your PI and mail server so that the two systems will accept each other's logon tickets. Only after that you can use your mail adapter with SSL. All adapters that run on the adapter engine use Java AS's authentication mechanisms, so SSL should be enabled for your AS Java, you cannot enable it only for the mail adapter.
I recommend trying this scenario with another mail server that doesn't require SSL first with plain authentication. Then you can go for SSL, but you will probably need an experienced basis guy to help you for the configuration.
    Hope this helps,

We relied upon the "days available for download" to get people to take
