Don't understand JVM error messages

I was running my server application (multi-threaded with synchronization controls) when the JVM died and gave me a list of messages which I do not understand.

hi,
the -Xmaxjitcodesize option helps in deciding the maximum compiled code size, so for eg, if you want to allocate 32Meg you could use
java -Xmaxjitcodesize32m filename
where filename represents your java class. the ouput of the VM looks like some kind of a stack dump but as is pointed out by abnormal and is also obvious by the output itself, i suppose you have exceeded the memory space for the compiled code.
hope this helps.

Alex,
did you just upgrade from an Aperture 3.2.x version to Aperture 3.3.1? This error message usually occures after the upgrade to 3.3.1, when Aperture cannont convert the library format to 3.3. format.
I'd try to repair the Aperture Library (Mediathek), before upgrading it. Hold down the option-command key combination (⌥⌘) while double-clicking Aperture. This will bring the "Aperture Library First Aid Tools" panel forward. Select "Rebuild Database" and see, if it will resolve the the problem.
Good luck

Since upgrading to 10.6 I can't log on to the store. I don't get any error messages, it just doesn't log on.
Password etc is right and I can access the internet Ok just not iTunes.
I have tried downgrading to a previous version of iTunes but then can't use iTunes as I get a message saying the "library is not accesible because it was created
in a newer version of iTunes"
I have tried disabling Firewalls and AVG Antivirus without any success.
Anyone got any ideas?

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

• Understanding Output Error Messages

I don't understand the "heirarchy" of Flash Output Error Messages.
For example:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at bBrand_Gallery()
ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller.
at flash.display::DisplayObjectContainer/removeChild()
at bBrand_Gallery/startShow()
at bBrand_Gallery/onComplete()
This error shows when I preview a SWF that calls en external swf. All the code listed in the Error Codes is contained in the external swf. In the TypeError -- where do I look for the problem code? bBrand_Gallery is a class description for the externally called swf. The externally called swf runs fine by itself. All functions in the package are declared as public functions. I know that the null object reference means that it's looking for the property of an object that is not yet instantiated. How do I find that object? Would it most likely be a variable that is not delacred publicly?
I believe the ArgumentError has to do with the fact that the DisplayObject in question is not "created" by the function startShow which includes the removeChild statement. How do I resolve that issue??
Is there a reference as to the best way to interpret these error messages?? I'm so confused!?!?!!?
Thanks,
Mike

Ned Murphy wrote:
The messages remain something in the way of being difficult to interpret, but sometimes you can get a little better information when you set the option to Permit Debugging in the Flash Publish Settings. Your 1009 error would end up presenting you with a line number just after the frame number to help you narrow down the problem...
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at bBrand_Gallery() frame1:19
That's telling you line 19 holds the problemed code. Error messages normally report in a manner of increasing distance from the problemed code. So you can normally stop looking after the first localization...
ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller.
at flash.display::DisplayObjectContainer/removeChild()
In the case of this error, you need to focus on what it tells you... there is a removeChild attempt being made for something that is not a child of the container object targeted... and if you follow on, it looks like it is being attempted in a function named startShow, which may have been executed via another function named onComplete
Ned -- thanks for the feedback.
I enabled Debugging and published again -- the error code remains the same, with no number or frame info.
AFA the ArgumentError -- I suspect it's not showing as a child since the errors are preventing the entire swf from loading and running. The child is never created. I need to find the first error, and then the second should disappear.
I guess the next step is to comment out sections of code and see what elinminates the error and then go from there. . .
If you have any other suggestions I'm game. Thanks for explaining the sequence of the messages -- I suspected that was the case, but your confirmation helps.
ETA: Found it.
There was a reference to the stage width in positioning the preloader, which is a TextField. The external SWF couldn't reference the stage dimensions. I replaced the stage reference with hard dimensions, and the errors are gone.
Thanks again for your help, Ned. . .

If you need to change the java.security file just to get an image to appear then there's something wrong. This solution is not practical if you intend to distribute the Applet to other people.
I would write an HTML page to display the applet and view it through a Java (2) enabled browser or use the AppletViewer application that comes with the JDK.
Use something like the following to get the image from the same directory as your HTML page:
Icon icon = new ImageIcon(new URL(getDocumentBase(), "inglese.gif"));Hope this helps.

I have the same problem when opening the OPC Server.
Unfortunately I have no solution, but I think it has something to do with incorrect Certificates and is more of a Windows Problem.

• Having problems understanding f60genm error messages - urgent please help.

Hi all,
I'm a guy who has not a single idea about forms or form compilation. This is because I don't work with forms. The only reason that I am relaterd to forms is that i have a script that converts form files into a browsable web page (some thing like javadocs) which is being used by many people.
my script converts a form file into txt file using f60genm and then the resultant txt file is converted to fmt file using f60genm. I am running my script from a RHEL server where a display variable is set.
It was working fine all this while. But now i get error messages as this
@ f60genm module=<form file name without the .fmb> batch=YES logon=NO forms_doc=YES...
* CMD_FAIL_START
@ * command failed: f60genm module=<form file name without the .fmb> batch=YES logon=NO forms_doc=YES
* exit value: 0
* core dumped: yes
* signal received: 11
* system message:
* output:
* CMD_FAIL_END
Now my question is in what circumstances do i get this error message and what is it that f60genm trying to tell me by saying signal received 11?
Is there any document or website where i can get all this information?
Please help.

Sorry guys,
Just found that the error message that i pasted is not generated by f60genm.

i posted this is the language group also, but i thought there might be people who look at the advanced group that don't look at the language group. anyway, here is what i posted.
i am running in -verbose mode and am getting a signaling error. does anyone know what this is or what it means? here is the exact message:
[Signaling Error: error already pending]
thanks,
erik

I am also seeing this error message when I run in Verbose mode. The reason I turned on verbose mode was to locate a tremendous memory leak. I see a few messages on the same subject but I do not see any answers. Has anyone found the solution to this?

• How do I fix my PDF so I don't get the error message: "expected an array object"?

When I try to delete certain pages from my PDF file (which is larger than 3,000 pages), I get an error message that states "expected an array object." I am unable to delete these pages. How can I fix this problem?

It looks like the original PDF file is damaged in some ways. Have you tried creating a new file from the existing file to see if it works? The quickest way to create a new file is to print the existing file to a PDF file. OK you lose some quality but this is just a test to see if there is anything else wrong with the Acrobat setup or with the document itself.

• I am trying to upload photos to a library but only some of them uploaded. I even tried to rename and upload to a different library but I can't get it to work. I don't get any error message it just doesn't respond.

I have been uploading pictures for a while but ran into a problem last night that I cannot resolve. I was uploading files starting in Revel and selecting the "add photos to album". I selected 144 photos but only 88 uploaded. I checked and confirmed that the missing ones are not in the library. I tried to re-save and reinitiate the upload on Revel. I then tried to save the files with a new name and upload to a new library. Neither option worked. I do not get any error message. it just fails to upload.
Is there a system problem? Any suggestions?

Hi there,
Are you uploading from the Revel Mac app or a browser from adoberevel.com or from a mobile device?
Thanks!
