Double speed of video playback

could you increase the speed of the video playback or a
simulation ! I know there is a component you can buy that gives the
user a progress bar type thing (like volume) to which they can
increase and even rewind at a speed upto x4 and anything inbetween.
I just wondered if that kind of thing could be incorporated into a
captivate swf or if anyone actually had a widget for it

I found this component :
http://www.flashloaded.com/flashcomponents/speedcontroller/
but will it work with captivate swfs with playbars ! or may i
cause conflict and so on - and i have no idea how i would
incorporate that into the swf, like how to position it and so
on.

  • Context menu "Page Speed" in video playback

In clarification to answer given to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/961774#answer-463032 (closed thread): The context menu "Page Speed" in video playback applies to a html5 video playback streams. Older flashplayer video does not support this feature. This is not related to tab mix plus addon.
(this is comment rather than question)

    See answer above
Check http://www.youtube.com/html5 that it is enabled if applicable. Html5 player test videos can be found at http://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html if you are not sure where to find a video that will show the "play speed" context menu. If you believe that a html5 video stream is available for the web page but are still seeing the flashplayer video you need to temporarily disable flash support before loading the web page. For that, you may like to try the quickjava addon , which gives you a button to turn flash on/off while browser is running. If you don't see any video after disabling flash then that page does not support an alternate html5 player stream.

  • Changing the speed of video playback

    Hi Gang,
Just wondering if there is a way to change the speed of video & audio on itunes?
I know this can be done on iPod with the audio book function, just wondering if there's one for videos?
    Cheers
    Yong-Long

Do you mean by a strobe effect that the brightness of the footage is changing randomly?
Or are you saying that the motion of your footage is not smooth and moves with a sort of rhythm that feels jumpy?
    These are 2 different possiblities.
The odds are you are experiencing field reversal caused by changing the frame rate of your footage and thereby switching the field order in the clips. I've posted many explainations of what field reversal is in past topics so search for the term.
You could minimize the effect by using the flicker filter in the footage that is being changed. You could also send the footage to Motion and enable Optical Flow in the Time Mapping properties of the clip. But that's a fairly advanced technique. Try the Flicker Filer first.
Without more info, I can't help you further.

  • Apple TV speeds up video playback on files ripped from DVDs - it looks like it's being fastforwarded slightly.

I just set up my Apple TV 2, only to find playback issues from the start.
Whenever I try to play videos from iTunes, the playback is noticeably faster than it should be. It's almost as if the video is slightly sped up, and the audio is in sync with this. The aspect ratio is also very different on some of these videos (and this doesn't correct on my TV as it does on my laptop screen) - by which I mean that the picture appears stretched on some, but not others. These are files I have ripped from my DVD collection.
What can I do about this?

    Ok, now I understand.
I haven't directly used those digital copies, per your original post it sounds is as it plays fine in iTunes but just not on apple tv
Here is the compatibility list for ATV2, in iTunes right click and get info for one of the files to see if it falls within
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

  • Speeding Up Movie Playback on Ipad (Like Quicktime can do)

    Hello,
I watch a lot of training videos for my work. On my laptop I can speed them up using Quicktime's built in AV features.
Is there a way to do the same thing on iPad?
Or is there an application that will speed up Video playback?
    Thanks

Azul can speed up video playback, but I'm not exactly sure how to open videos on the device in the app.  You can download videos directly to the app though.

  • YouTube App Video Playback Poor Performance

Not sure when or what changed but video playback performance on my iPod Touch 4G when using the YouTube app has been very poor the last couple months. Used to work just fine. The performance has been so bad that I basically gave up watching YouTube videos on my iPod. By bad performance I mean it would literally take 10 minutes to watch a 2 minute video (estimating of course). And I would get chunks of about 20 seconds before I had to wait while the video would buffer again.
I know this is due to my connection speed as video playback using the YouTube app at other locations that have a faster speed still worked fine.I think my home connection is up to 5 MB download but I actually only get around 4 MB. But still, this should be just fine as it used to work. Also, NetFlix and FaceTime work just fine at home. The YouTube app should be able to determine the video quality based on your connection for streaming. But it now longer seems to do that.
Talked to Apple tech support and they had me reset my iPod which did not help. But they had me try using Safari instead of the YouTube app. By using Safari and going to YouTube.com video playback on my iPod Touch was just fine. Videos would buffer more quickly then they would play. Even if I left HQ on, video playback was fine. Go figure? Something definitely seems wrong with the YouTube app.
So I thought I'd post this in case anyone else was searching for a solution. This works for me.
Seems like the YouTube app needs to be updated. Mentioned this to Apple tech support but was told Google would be responsible for that and they doubt it will be done due to YouTube no longer using flash. Hmmmm, the app seems pretty integrated into iOS as the app comes installed and can not be uninstalled.

    See:

Try when connected to another network to help determine if it is a network problem
Contact the developer/go to their support site if only one app.

  • Is it possible to play video double speed?

    Hi All.
Is it possible to play video file or video stream double speed?
I've never seen the flash player.  Please show me the way.
Thanks in advanced. and sorry for my poor english.
    Kevin.

Is it possible to play back video at double speed, but keep the pitch normal?  How about playing back at a fraction of double, say, 150% speed?
No, not that I'm aware. Yes; try Shift+L (for forward play) and Shift+J (for reverse play). Start playback with L, and then tap Shift+L; that should increase speed in 25% increments, and you get a number of steps before it tops out. You can do it from a paused state, as well, and get fractional slower-than-realtime playback--that's very helpful, as well.

  • [SOLVED] Chromium + pepper = Video @ double speed

I am using the latest stable chromium, with the pepper-stable package from the AUR recommended in the Chromium wiki.
I moved to Chromium as Flash is no longer being developed for Firefox....And Firefox 26 crashes a lot, and randomly, including with all plugins removed. So It's a problem right now.
As the subject mentions....I am getting weird video issues. Usually, the video plays back at double speed, with the associated spastic audio output. Here is an example: Ref: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smCQ2g9L7PU.
This used to play fine in Firefox with the old flashplugin.
In my porting process, here is what I did:
    With no browser open:
    a)     "sudo pacman -Rs flashplugin"
a1)    Verified that flash was no longer operating in Firefox.
    b)    "sudo pacman -S chromium"
    c)    "yaourt -S chromium-pepper-flash-stable"
    d)   In chromium: "chrome://plugins" to verify that flash wasn't showing up.
Arch x86_64 (current), NVidia GTX-660, using the nvidia drivers from Arch...extra. (rev 331.20) vdpau is installed in both the 64 and lib32 variants.
I have tried disabling hardware acceleration in the pepper-flash plugin, restarted the browser and retried. I have tried enabling hardware acceleration, restarted the browser and retried.
Playback seems unaffected in either scenario, and remains unusable.
Gnash has never performed properly for me in any scenario where I've tried it. So Gnash is not an option. Gnash has a long way to go until it is ready to be a good drop-in replacement for an official "flash plugin".
So for now, I have to use the smtube for smplayer to view YouTube/major news site videos properly.
I am requesting, please, some assistance in fixing my video playback issue in Chromium.
    Sincerely and respectfully,
    Dave
PS: I'm curious, why does the firefox community appear to be sitting on their hands when Adobe has made it clear for a long time that Adobe Flash for linux is being abandoned as of 01-JAN-2014? I would have expected some really heavy programming resources to be assigned to gnash to make it better, or write some sort of wrapper for the chromium pepper plugin....for official Adobe support.
Is there another reliable flash playback mechanism that I am missing all together?

I agree with ewaller (the new html5 player for youtube is good) but to answer your question I had a similar issue with pepperflash and if I recall correctly it was related to sound issues. I do not remember which package solved the issue but here is the alsa / pulseaudio packages I have installed:
$ yaourt -Ss alsa | grep installed
    extra/alsa-lib 1.0.27.2-1 [installed]

  • Why do my quicktime movies playback at double speed? Please help

Hello all, this is my first post.
For some reason all of the sudden my quicktime movies that are 2 months old or older playback at double speed although the sound plays back as normal. Any movies that are less than 2 months old are ok. All these videos have been taken with my digital cam which records files in mov. Also any of these files which i convert to flash also play back 2 time faster when i select the converted swf file. Please help as i have hundreds of files which are affeceted. Any new clips i record playback fine.
Also I copied and pasted a problematic video on my wifes newer pc and the clip still has the same problem.
    Thanks in adavance

I think I figured it out.. didn't see that you could choose what type when importing.

  • Hit Play video plays about double speed

When I play the video I am working on in the timeline, the video starts normal (for about a second) but then starts racing at about double speed. If I turn the external video to off under the "view" pulldown menu, the playback is normal.

Please give your full system specifications, what computer, what drives, what camera or deck, how everything's connected, what settings are on the media, what settings you're using in Final Cut, and finally what version of the software, of the OS, and of QuickTime you are using.

  • IOS 5 bug in double speed playback

There is a newly introduced bug in iOS 5 with regard to playing podcasts at double speed (using the little 2x symbol in the top right).
The playback works just fine and it is a great way to consume a lot of podcasts quickly, but if I make a phone call when the call ends the podcast continues, but at normal speed. The screen still shows 2x, but it is playing at 1x. I have to press the button a few times to cycle back to 2x again, where it then is back to doublespeed.
I could not see an easy way to report a bug, so I am posting it here in the hope of getting it to the person that needs to know and can fix it.

Ok correction: this problem has occurred only once. That I found nothing can be clicked in app store.app. But right after I quit and get back, everything looks fine. Dont know why it happened at first, even dont know wheter it will happen again.

  • Controlling Speed of audio and video playback ?

    Hi!
I would like to know if there is (or will be) a way with
upcoming Flash CS4 or even with Adobe Flash Player 10 capabilities
(or even with Adobe Pixel Bender) to control the speed of an audio
    or video playback.
For example being able to play some sound slower or faster
and even adjusting audio pitch (and other audio filtering).
It's been a while that I've been looking for this (back to
Flash Player 6 when Flash was part of Macromedia) and with all
progress achieved since then I hope there is some accelerate and
    decelerate feature now.
Please let me know about it.

  • CS4 Timeline Video Running Double Speed

    Hi everyone!
Maybe someone knows where the problem lies...
I add a video clip (.m2v /mpeg) to encore cs4 and a ac3. I create a timeline with these streams. If i press play to preview the timeline to add chapters, the video is running double speed and is over after half of the time. Audio plays normal.
If i open the same project with the same settings in CS3 it works properly.
Does anyone know where the problem lies?
    Info:
    WinXP SP3 pro
    thanks in advance!

    Could you check with
    Bitrate Viewer
    and/or
    MediaInfo
    what is reported as
frame rate (fps) for your .m2v and mpeg files?

  • Video playback speed in After Effects

After importing QuickTime video into After Effects it plays back at about half (or even slower) the initial frame rate (13 fps or so instead of 29.97 fps). Also in the top right corner of the workspace (Info Panel) I'm getting a message that "...Layer 1 Retrieving Frame".
Could you, please, give me an advise how to return video playback to normal speed?
               Thank you.

Technically possible, but not an ideal workflow. I can also cut through my filet mignon with a spoon, but I can do it a lot faster and with much less frustration if I use my steak knife.
I edit in Premiere and then use the Import>Adobe Premiere Pro Project option in After Effects to bring my edit into AE.
