Doubt in EAR

But i am getting a doubt like how we package different J2EE modules into a EAR file.
Suppose in an application we have web module(war file ), ejb module(jar file), appliction client module(jar file) .
So if we want to package all these into an EAR file, Do i need to package them into war & jar files first?
So while packaging into an EAR file, do i need to mention the paths of war & jar files?
please clarify me.
Thanks

  • EAR file doubt

    Dear all,
I am following the "How to Create Modules for the J2EE Adapter Engine (NW7[1].0)_0_.pdf" how to guide and I have a doubt regarding the statement "Make sure that the libraries of the adapter module API are not inside the
generated EAR file, or delete them using WinZip."
What does exactly mean? In my case I have developed a EJB to manage PDF attachment files and after the"build application archive" step I open it with the winzip i see the content as follows:
    AdapterModule.jar
    aii_af_cci.jar
    aii_af_cpa.jar
    aii_af_mp.jar
    aii_af_ms_api.jar
    aii_af_ms_spi.jar
    aii_af_svc.jar
    aii_msg_runtime.jar
    META-INF (Folder)
I am keeping the folder and the AdapterModule.jar, the rest of the .jar files are being deleted.
Is this correct? Do i have to keep any other file?
I was told that the pacth ( the libraries ) were installed so it seems reasonable to do this.
Any comment and help would be more than welcome
Thank you for your time, Sergio

  • IPhone 4 ear speaker not working after 2 restores and cleaning the headphone socket.

    Hi,
I know this problem is not uncommon, but here goes...
I have an iPhone 4 which was running iOS 5.1.1 a few days ago when the ear speaker stopped working.  I cant hear the other person when I make or recieve a call, but nothing else is wrong with the phone.  It is 18 months old.
I've searched the discussions and seen some of the suggestions.  I tried cleaning out the headphone socket, with no luck.  I then tried a full restore and update to iOS 6.  This appeared to have worked.  I tried 2 calls and I could hear the other person.  I then left the phone alone for a couple of hours and when I tried it again, it had stopped working again.
I have since done another full restore but the speaker is still not working at all.  The fact that it worked after the first restore suggests it's something simple or software related but I have no idea what else to try other than getting it repaired in a shop.  The problem is I am in Japan where my network (Softbank) and an independent repair shop have both quoted me the equivalent of $176 / £110 to fix it.
Does anyone know anything else I can try before I give in and end up shelling out this ridiculous cost for something that is probably a 20 minute fix?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I have the exact same problem with my ear speaker after my IOS 6 upgrade. My speakers work, bluetooth works, the earphones work, but the ear speaker doesn’t work. I noticed this IMMEDIATELY after the upgrade was completed. I also have the following problems:
-Very slow call connect time. 30 - 45 seconds just to connect is typical. Signal strength is 5 bars (ATT)
    -Problems attaching to known networks
-Very slow internet browsing with many timeouts on both the ATT 3G service and known Wi-Fi networks.
    - My camera was missing after the IOS 6 upgrade. I restored that from Restrictions inside of the Settings App
    - Music was so screwed up it was easier to just restore it
I went to the Apple store hoping to get some support. Between my wife, my son, and myself we have purchased 4 iPhones and an iPad over the last few years with plans to purchase another iPad in a month or so. So it’s not like I' not familiar with Apple Technology and their typical level of support.
The individual who waited on me was rude and condescending. He insisted that all of the problems were hardware related or ATT’s fault, or my fault. He further asserted that IOS 6 had NOTHING to do with any of the problems. I pointed out that it would be quite a coincidence for my hardware to break, for ATT to have network problems, and for me to suddenly forget how to use an iPhone at the same exact moment that IOS 6 had been installed. He maintained his position and offered to sell me another phone.
I don’t expect the folks in the store to reprogram the OS. Mistakes happen. I’m going to guess that Apple’s OS programmers are already working on a fix for many of the IOS 6 complaints that are easy to find on Google. Assigning blame to the customer and denying any responsibility is not a model for success or customer service. I’m sure Apple wouldn’t accept that kind of excuse from their component manufacturers and don’t think it is how they should deal with their customers. Further, Apple wants to own the device. They want to control the apps, the OS, battery, the delivery channel. I’m good with that so long as when there is a problem, they own that as well.
And BTW… I’m not including the maps in my list of issues with IOS 6 because I kind of like the new maps and am willing to give Apple the benefit of the doubt. I believe that their map service will get a lot better in a hurry.

  • Java proxy and EAR file in NDS

    Hi,
I'm new in java and also proxy development and I need some help
I have followed the pdf how to create java proxies in 3.0.
    But i have some doubts:
Must I delete aii*.jar libraries from the EAR create?
I have no other .jar archive in that .ear... why? I suppose that is not correct and why my EJB module .jar is not included?
    Thanks
    carme,

    Hi, Shabarish
I have followed the same steps point out in this two blogs.
I recreated all my EJB project and application.
The EAR file created only contains:
    guidgenerator.jar
    aii_utilxi_misc.jar
    aii_proxy_xirt.jar
    aii_msg_runtime.jar
    sda-dd.xml
    application-j2ee-engine.xml
    application.xml
    Sap_manifest.mf
    Manifest.mf
and also a file WITHOUT NAME and size 0.
    That is not correct... right?

  • Share persistence.xml file between two EJB modules in EAR

    Hello, everybody!
First of all, I would like to say that I already posted this question in another forum:
But as I haven't got any answer from there and this issue is very crucial to me I'm posting it here too in the hope that I get an answer. So, here it goes:
I have two EJB modules in an EAR module. I would like to know how to share a single persistence.xml file with these two EJB modules. If I replicate the persistence.xml file in the two EJB modules, the EAR project deploys ok, but of course that's not what we want. If I remove the persistence.xml file from any of the EJB projects, the EAR doesn't deploy properly. I'm stuck with this. I've already tried many kind of configurations but none worked. I really would like to have some help with this issue to proceed working. This is my EAR structure:
    solicitacoes-ejb.jar       (EJB session beans)
    solicitacoes-dao.jar       (EJB interfaces)
    solicitacoes-dao-jpa.jar   (EJB session beans)
    solicitacoes-ejbClient.jar (entities and EJB interfaces)
    solicitacoes-web.war
    META-INF/This is my application.xml file:

... 43 moreI need help with this issue. As you could see, the EJB container doesn't like to see an EJB module without a persistence.xml file. This is clearly a dumb decision though. I agree with it if there was only one EJB module in an EAR. But the container should have been smart enough to require only one persistence.xml file in an EAR module with more than one EJB module, and share that persistece context with the whole EAR.
Acting the way it is acting now, the container forces us to duplicate the persistece.xml file and kill our application modularity. This is clearly wrong. I've already tried to put the entity classes and persistence.xml file in the lib directory of the EAR, but it didn't work either. The container needs to have the persistence.xml file in both EJB modules.
I don't know if this is a JBoss implementation decision or if it comes from the Java EE 6 specification. Whatever it is, it goes against all good modular and good design decision. Please if some of you know how to solve this, took a little time to tell me how. I would be very grateful.
    Thank you in advance.
    Marcos

    Dear Mr. gimbal2,
In another occasion I would not reply to such a 'helpful' answer like the one you gave me (yes, it is undoubtedly an answer because that's how you classified it in the beginning of your reply), but as today I have plenty of time here in my job, for this week we're not working full time as usual, I decided to reply to it.
You have to completely overhaul your attitude.I really didn't know I was taking so personal on this issue to have to 'completely overhaul my attitude'. Thank you for pointing that out.
In stead of calling the technology dumb, admit to yourself that perhaps you don't understand it properly and that your ideas of what is correct design perhaps is a little lacking. I didn't call the technology dumb because I stated very clearly that I don't know for sure if it is working this way. I said in the last paragraph:
+"I don't know if this is a JBoss implementation decision or if it comes from the Java EE 6 specification. Whatever it is, it goes against all good modular and good design decision."+
So, I let implicit the fact that the technology or the implementation of the technology is dumb only if it doesn't allow this possibility. Regarding the fact that your said that I should
admit to myself that perhaps I don't understand it properly, where did I stated in my question that I understand it completely? It's clear in the last paragraph that I don't. If I'm asking that's because I have doubts. Maybe my ideas of what is correct is wrong, and that's why I'm here in this forum. But everyone with a good sense knows that what I propose in this discussion is by no means a wrong design decision. Where is it a sin to have more than one EJB module in a EAR and a persisntece.xml file shared for the whole EAR? Does everyone that has more than one EJB module in an EAR module need to connect to more than one database? Is it wrong to want to have your DAO implementation in a separate EJB module in order to make deployment easy and also changes, if you later want to replace that implementation with another one without affecting
the other modules? I don't think that a design decision that seeks this is lacking. I don't think that Java EE today is a dumb technoloby, but everyone knows that before it gets to the present level, it was a technology known to have made big dumb decisions that the community latter corrected, with ideas like O/R mapping (Hibernate), dependency injection (Spring), Struts and lots of other examples that we all know. No one can deny this and lots of wrong things will continue to be fixed in later releases.
Maybe when you rise yourself back to that level, you open yourself up again to thinking in correct solutions in stead of trying to hammer through your own poorly chosen one.To be sincere, I see you took very personal about this issue. You really shows to be someone that has no respect to other people and you judge them too. I must say that I got surprised by the way you answered my post. I didn't expect to get such sarcastic answer to what I asked. I personally don't act this way. If I can't help a person, I also don't try to ridicularize him.

  • Basic Doubts Creating/Editing a Module

    Hello there,
I am a newbie at ATG, and I am trying to understand how does ATG works (I am working with ATG for just a week). I have some conclusions about ATG and I just wanna to confirm that I am doing right.
    Configurations:
Application Server: WLS (Weblogic Server 11g)
    ATG version: 10.0.3
    Developing Database: Mysql
    Official Database: Oracle
    IDE: Eclipse
Developing OS: Windows 7 (yes I know... linux is better... but...heh)
    Official OS: Oracle Linux
    Conclusions and Steps I got:
    1. All in ATG is a module
    2. Do I need to create a new module to create a new store or I must to work over crs?
2.1. I have both, a new module and ReferenceStore under Eclipse IDE with all taglibs and packages to work, I am able to generate a .war of any
2.2. With this .war I am able to run runAssembler.bat -pack  xxx.ear -m Module XXXECommerce and this generates a .ear
2.3. With this .ear I am able to do a deployment at WLS. (It runs without error at WLS but the page index.jsp and any other opens blank and a NullPointer occours at dsp tag interpretation)
    Doubts:
    1. Are these conclusions correct?
    2. With my customizations in a .war what must I do if erros occours running runAssembler and deploying?
    3. Does anyone has a tutorial of how to create a new ecommercer site or how to use crs as reference to build a store?
    Thank you!!

  • Ear speaker issue comes out after 3 days!

i just bought this phone 4 days ago hoping for the best quality as i had xperience before in neoV. But im now very disappointed because my ear speaker is having a shadow soud (like tuning in an am radio) after a sound. imagine after only 4 days. i think it starts after i used my phone in loudspeaker mode for 1 hour. but atleast if this is a great phone it will not happen. This is my last purchase in sony. Im doubtful in their future designs. Im not happy to use this phone, planning to bring it back to phone shop i bought or i well sell and get another brand.

In such a case your best option may be returning the device back to the place of purchase, however such an issue can be caused by third party software or software not working as it should.
You could attempt a software repair first before taking it back.
Here's how to run the repair on PC Companion:
    1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
    2. Phone Software Update.
    3. Start.
    4. Repair Phone
    5. Continue
    6. Accept data removal
    7. Next
    8. Wait for prepare
    9. Select Phone
    10. Follow the connection steps
    And Bridge for Mac:
    1. Launch Bridge for MAC without the handset connected.
    2. On the Main Window select "Xperia > Repair Xperia Device".
    3. Ensure the phone is charged and select "Ok" in the following window.
    4. Select Continue on the following page.
    5. Wait until the initialising step is finished the continue as below.
6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears
    7. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that you are holding the relevant button down before during and after the connection phase until the update/repair begins.
Let us know how you get on.

  • Webapp as war-archive vs exploded inside EAR

We have an application consisting of an ear-archive containing a webapp (.war or exploded) and an ejb (.jar). For this application we have had a few situations where the EJB is recompiled at WLS start only if the webapp consists of a war-archive and not an exploded war (even though the webapps are identical). We have however been unable to reproduce this consistently. Are there any known issues related to using an ear-archive containing an exploded war?
As far as I'm aware the main reason not to deploy applications as exploded is to make sure that the deployed content cannot be modified once deployed. This is not an issue here as the exploded war is a part of an ear-archive. Is there any other reason not to use this application layout? Could it possibly cause any unexpected side-effects in production environments?

Not working as in 404 error?
Could be deploying under a different context (as opposed to the default/root
    context).
Try /webAppName/index.jsp rather than /index.jsp, after replacing
"webAppName" with the name of your web application.

    Hi all,
I have my application working and running as exploded format.
When I packaged it into a WAR and included it with an EAR along with the
EJB JARS I have, it stopped running !
I have the application correctly deployed.
I can access some files under it.
I have doubts that maybe it could be that some files are referencing
    others using relative paths.
Should we replace these with absolute paths ?
    /mywebapp/myfolder/myfile.jsp instead of myfile.jsp ?

  • No doubt the best phone ever made!!!!

    Hi,
I cannot yet buy an iPhone as i live in the UK but i have no doubts in my mind that when it comes out i will be stading in line.
Was at work today and i noticed one in a customers hand (from San Francisco), just from the size of the screen i knew what it was.
It was like having one of Apples videos demonstarting the phone infront of me, saw the golden gate bridge on google maps, watched a video through the iPod function and even located his grandma's house via her contact dress in google maps.
Those of you that have one don't know how lucky you are.

Oh, I do know how lucky I am. I'm still geeking out over the fact the phone can sense when I move it up to my ear to instantly turn off the screen and turn it back on when I move it away.
Sure there are a few kinks but this really is what a mobile phone should be. Easy for us to take things like this for granted but wow. Really is a great product and it's really nice to see such quick support in the form of applications and sites optimized for the iPhone.
I certainly look forward to software updates by Apple and everything else that will enhance this device.

  • Trackball (Mechanical Interface) doubts

Hi all! (and excuse my english)
I have some doubts with trackball sphere mechanism as future interface for my Shockwave 3d "planet earth". In future, my client will plug a "trackball sphere" physical interface to use instead mouse. This will only be an sphere, and no click button will available there (no drag, only move), in short words "the trackball sphere is the planet in the hands of user". My question is about cursor: always my planet must be moved by trackball (using cursor moves detection, i supose), but ,what about mouse coordinates? If user moves and moves a lot the trackball mechanism, my system will continue working fine, even when cursor be thousands of pixels out of stage?. I must relocate cursor to stage everymoment?.

  • Deploying JAR - OK -- Deploying EAR - Not OK

    All,
I am just working on a little sample application and have encountered a problem. I am using JBoss 4.2.2 GA (just recently downloaded) for this sample and can provide other system information if necessary (but I doubt it impacts anything).
When I build my stateless beans and package them in a Jar file everything works fine. I compile, Jar and then drop them to <jboss>/server/default/deploy. Running the following code results in success:@Test
      public void doTest() throws NamingException {
        // load the bean
        Object obj = initialContext.lookup("DeploymentBase/remote");

    Hi,
Could you get it going? I am also facing same problem and couldn't find any pointers on the internet that actually describe the problem here.
I am trying to deploy EJB3.0 on jboss-4.2.1.GA. Putting all the pieces(war/jar etc) into an ear and deploying it results in NameNotFoundException. Here is the error trace:

  • Will Apple Replace the ear buds?

Today for the first time in a great while I used my iPod. After about 20 mins, the left speaker cut out. I do not know if it blew, or if the wires shorted... I do not blast my iPod because I have sensitive ears, etc... I bought the extended warranty for my iPod, but before I do anything, does Apple replace them, or do I have to pay an outrageous $30.00 for another pair? I prefer to get Apple earbuds because of the matching colors, and the "quality". Thanks!

I've gone through like 3 sets of Apple earbuds and all because one side cut out. Don't waste your money on those things. They have bad sound, they're too expensive for what they are, and the new ones are just plain uncomfortable. I bought the Bose On-ear headphones and they're so much better. It's also a big waste of time to wait for them to come by mail. I highly suggest getting something a little better than those bottom-of-the-line earbuds. And really, if you don't believe me about them having uncool sound, just go to the local Apple store and try out the Bose headphones compared to the Apple earbuds. And I doubt the sides will cut out.
