Doubt In Quotation and Inquiry

Hi all,
I have a little doubt with regard to quotation and inquiry. Can anybody please explain whether we have pricing in inquiry? in other words does an inquiry document include pricing?
As far as my understanding goes an inquiry is generated by a customer and it should not have pricing for if he would have had the price and the material then what is the purpose of inquiry, he can directly place an order for the material. according to me inquiry is just a request for quotation and just has a need for a material. This inquiry should be followed by a quotation which has the materials qty, the price at which it is available and by when it will be available. After the customer agrees to the price and the conditions in the quotations he places the order.
please correct me if i'm wrong.

When customer enquires about some of your product, we create a document for this , means creating an electronic document for it by entering the data for which customer is seeking information.
This document is called Inquiry and it has Pricing data.
With reference to this enquiry we give a Quotation to the customer.Quotation is created in that Sales area where Inquiry is created.
That means , Quotation is from the organisation to the customer from a specific sales area.It is legally binding.
Both Inquiry and Quotation contains Price.
In some industry before creating Quotation they create an Inquiry, as they keep a record of Inquiries for future analysis purpose, beacuse customer has suppose enquired for 5 items but ultimately placed order for 2 items after quotation is given.
He might have refused due high price etc, but he was interested for it that is why he had enquired. So in future, if the price is reduced or new feature is added then he may be contacted.
This is more useful for the Presales department.

    Open quotations are those on which no orders or reference documents have been created so far.
    Open quotations can be seen in VA15 tcode
    Open quotations is a term which is applicable for the whoel document.
    On the otherhand, there will be some documents where reference documents are created for some items, while for other items no reference documents are created
    For example lets say a quotation has  ItemA and Item B, both having 5quantities,
    On this an order is created for ItemA only for 5quantities.
    Now the quotation is in Partly completed status
    Item A willbe in Complete status
    Item B will be in Open status.
    Hope thsi helps you to undersatnd things.

    Conditions - You want to get the top 10 customers, you can use condition to get the same. done during the execution, before displayign the data. last step in the report execution.
    Filters - You can filter only particular plant, customer etc. will be done before query execution, kind of starting point for qery execution.
    Btree / Bit map - in addition to Venkatesh said - Bit Map is read optimized and B Tree is write optimized.
    Reconstruction - used in 3.x flow. if a request got deleted by request you can retriev it. Go to reconstruction tab and select the request and do reconstruction.
    Repair - I guess you are asking repair full request, if it so, it is a way to pull the data from R3. with some selection that can be defined at the info package for example you found one purchase order with some incorrect data, what you do is delete selectively the purchase order from the system and do full repail request. You can define the same at info provider level.
    Document update - you change a Purchase order from Me22n, the document will get update in the r/3 backend table EKKO EKPO etc. Statistical update is from the R/3 reporting table perspective, these are LIS tables.

  • Make-to-order. Requirement linked to Quotation and not to Sales Order

    After we have changed our Make-To-Order Materials from unvaluated sales order stock to valuated Sales Order Stock we do face a problem with the Requirement for those Sales Orders lines which are started with a Quotation. After running MRP a planned Order is created (ok) but the Planned Order is linked to the Quotation line and not to the Sales order line. When converting the Planned order to a Production order the AFPOD-KDAUF field is the number of the Quotation and unfortunately not the Sales Order number.
    The Quotation looks ok. Item category is AGN and Schedule line category is BN (no MRP). When converting the Quotation into a Sales Order the Item category change to TAN and schedule lin category is now CP.
    The copy rules QT -> OR (VTAA) shows copying requirement = 501 Schedule qty >0 and DataT = 201 General Schedule line Data
    Anyone got a clue about where to look? ¨

    Hi Guys
    Thanks for your proposals.
    The Materials involved are standard items (FINI -> NORM) and our Set-up with item category TAN works perfectly when we create a Sales Order without a Quotation first. And the way we solve the problem manually right now is to convert the Quotation and delete in line item and recreate them manually. 
    I found that if i delete the requirement type in the Quotation and then convert the Quotation into a Sales Order then the Planned with be linked to the Sales Order = perfect.
    Any other ideas

  • Replication of quotation and order from CRM to ECC

    Hi experts,
    We are trying to replicate a quotation and order created in CRM to ECC. We have maintained the same transaction types and item categories in both ECC and CRM. Is there anything else that is required to be done for proper replication??
    Now while trying to replicate, we are getting this error: "Partners from account group 0005 are not permitted for partner function BP (Notification E VPD 000)"
    How to solve this??

    We maintained Partners from account group 0005  for partner function BP. Now we are again getting these errors:
    u2022     Account Assigment Object Successfully Assigned to Item 0000000010 (Notification S C( 312)
    u2022     SALES_HEADER_IN has been processed successfully (Notification S V4 233)
    u2022     The sales document is not yet complete: Edit data (Notification W V1 555)
    u2022     Sales document 0005000080 was not changed (Notification E V4 219)
    u2022     Status "Obsolete status" of material 101123900 does not allow external procurement (Notification E ME 053)
    u2022     Error in SALES_ITEM_IN 000010 (Notification E V4 248)
    Is there any place where we can check the notifications??

  • Upload quotation and reference sales order to ECC

    Hi Guys,
      Can both Quotation and the reference sales order be uploaded to ECC, Currently there is  a restriction in place. Please suggest if it can be transferred through some customizing.

    i belive it's possible.
    you may want to give it a try to configure EQUALLY both quotation and order in both CRM and ERP.
    then set up the middleware parameter and it should be running for both.

  • Planned order qty. shodnt  change after copying quotation and creating SO

    Hi Guys,
    In my scenario i am creating a quotation of qty. 100. Sytem generates planned order of 100 qty.After i copy the quotation and creates a sale order changing qty. to 50, the system is changing the planned order qty. to 50 whereas the requirement is planned order qty. must not change i.e. it must be 100.
    Is there any setting for this.

  • Discount Condn Type changeable in Quotation and Display Mode in Sales Order

    Hi Friends,
    There is requirement of having a Discount Condition Type to be in Changeable mode in Quotation and must not be in Changeable mode in Sales Order. That no user is allowed to change the discount value in Sales Order and whatever maintained in QT must be applcable for Sales Order till billing.
    Would like to have functional possibilities. Guide me gurus.

    Would you like your user who is making the sales order to view the pricing conditions or you would also like him to change certain conditions/values (Except for discount conditions) ?
    If the above is applicable then in my suggestion you should go in for a Transaction Variant wherein you can either completely hide or make the pricing conditions in display only.

    Hello All,
    A Doubt on Material and Chapter ID Combination.
    We use HALB materials - for procurement as well as manufacturing. It manufactures certain parts in-house and sells them outside. If there is no manufacturing capacity, we procure same parts from outside and then sells them outside.
    How do we enter Material and Chapter ID Combination for such items in J1ID ? Their count is 5000+.
    In Material and Chapter ID Combination, when we specify "Material Type" for such items as Raw Materials and manufacture them in-house and sell them outside, SAP does not update RG1 register. It updates RG1 register, only when "Material Type" for such items is RG1.
    If we specify "Material Type" for such items as RG1, but procure them from outside, SAP does not update RG 23 registers. It updates RG 23 registers, only when "Material Type" for such items is Raw Materials.
    Any solution for the above problem ? Creating a separate material code is out of question.

    Hi,
    there is no possibilty to have two differant material type for a material, you may assign the material as RG1 and when you procure the goods you can change the material type as Rawmaterial during MIGO/J1iex so that you will be allowed to take the credit and also the RG23 registers will be updated, there is no other possibility.

    like old document number and header details like customer and item details like material and price we are taking old price from old system...

    Hi ravi,
    you would need to ensure the following things
    1) the sales area must be defined
    2) pricing procedure should match
    3) if you are copying the quaotation nos then the no range should also exist
    4) quotation with the same no should not preexist in the new system
    5) it is advisable to have all the master data copied otherwise sometimes it leads to errors

    But when i was running VL09 i just gave the shipping point and execute the transaction.
    Then i did not find any document for that selection.
