Downloaded itunes 6, error -50

i got the new version of itunes, and then when i plugged in my ipod the program would stop responding. opening the task manager box i can see it stop responding when i plug it in, then respond after i disconnect it.
now, that isn't the current problem. i re-downloaded the program and it didn't work, so i uninstalled and then used the disk from my ipod to install itunes. now it won't even open, and displays the message that an unknown error (-50) has occurred
any help?

hiya!
hmmmm. did you just use Add/Remove programs to uninstall the previous versions of itunes and quicktime prior to rolling back to the earlier version of itunes? or did you use the complete uninstall instructions given here?
Troubleshooting iTunes, iPod Software, and QuickTime installation on Windows
if you didn't use the complete uninstall instructions, it's possible that the weird (-50) is being caused by confusion between the old version of itunes, and leftover files from the new vewer version.
so let's try using the complete uninstall instructions to remove any itunes and quicktime currently on the PC.
then download and save a copy of 6.0.4.2 to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off any antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
iTunes 6.0.4.2 Installer
does the new itunes set-up launch without the (-50)?
... and if you run into the ipod problem again, let's first check on these possibilities:
iPod not recognized correctly on Toshiba laptop
iPod not recognized when connected to Windows laptop over USB

What does this error message mean? Why can't I download iTunes? I had it on my laptop for years and all of a sudden it stopped working. I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it but now I get this error message. I received this same error message before I uninstalled iTunes also.

  • HT1926 won't download itunes, get error message concerning C runtime library

tried to update itunes, now it doesn't want to install itunes, keep getting an error message that C runtime library is not installed correctly

Follow the below procedure if you are using a Windows based PC.   I did not develop it, another forum user did, but I did insert 1 additional step in case you use a 3rd party software package to give your apple devices "Airprint" capability for your non Air Print capable printers (Such as Fingerprint).
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
Remove any 3rd party software which uses Airprint features (such as Fingerprint by Collobos)
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or by right-clicking the downloaded installer and selectingRun as Administrator.

  • Downloading iTunes extras (Error -50)

I've been trying for the last week to download the iTunes extras for one of the movies I recently bought.
every time I try to download it, it stops and gives me error -50.
what does this mean? How can I fix it? I'm currently in Costa Rica so I can't even get any support directly from Apple.
    this is really frustrating me...
I've already tried resetting the cache and warnings, deleting the actual cached folder,
restarting my computer, resetting the internet connection,
nothing has worked. Have I been given some sort of corrupted file...?
    thanks in advance...

  • Unable to download iTunes after error

Help! A while ago--I think it was after an update, but I don't really remember--I started getting the "Msvcr80.dll is missing" error message and my iTunes became non-functional.  I have done everything I can find to resolve this, and finally wiped everything Apple from my computer hoping to be able to download again. (I still seem to have Apple mobile device support and I can't seem to get rid of it.) Now when I try to download iTunes, I get all the appropriate "do you want to save this file" dialog boxes and I end up at the "Thank you for downloading iTunes" page. But the file doesn't actually download. I get no successful download notification on my browser (Firefox, which displays a green arrow), and the install file is nowhere to be found on my hard drive.
Does anyone have an answer to this? Or are my days using iTunes at an end?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
See the Further Information area of the user tip for download advice and direct links if required.

  • Downloading iTunes Extra "Error -19" Message

    Hey Everyone
I've recently run into a strange problem.
While downloading the iTunes Extra for two movies (TED Unrated + Batman Begins), I'm getting the error -19 message.
The extras download fully, I can see in the Status window that iTunes starts processing, then I get "stopped (err = -19)."
There was a problem downloading “Batman Begins - iTunes Extras / Batman Begins / Christopher Nolan”. An error occurred while reading from the device.
Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again.
    I'm running iTunes 11, with MacOS 10.6.8.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    All the best!

I went through the forums and I found several other threads with exactly the same problem:

I contacted Apple support and the representative added the album back to my available downloads in iTunes, but the problem still persists. All songs download fine except for the iTunes LP.
I wonder if anyone using the US iTunes store is having this problem... I'm starting to guess this is related to the LP not being available in some of the other stores, which is strange as the album with the LP was available for sale...

  • Trouble downloading ITunes songs; Error -100000

Have been trying to download an album (purchased using a holiday giftcard). While some songs have downloaded successfully, the majority of downloads were interrupted and report the following error: -100000.
Any thoughts on how to fix this? Have also sent off a note to Apple and will post if they send along anything useful.

Install 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and use one of them to extract the contents of the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe installer file, then try installing AppleApplicationSupport.msi as a standalone component. Even if it won't install you may get a more useful error message as to why not.
Alternatively see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for advice on removing and then reinstalling all iTunes related components,

  • Can not download Itunes.  error 7

Can not install Itunes.  Error7 (windows error 5)

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
If you still have the same error messages cropping up, then try the procedures from the following user tip:

  • How to download iTunes with error code 24

I have tried the fixes from Windows and I have uninstalled everything to do with iTunes as I saw on another thread as well. So now I have no iTunes on my computer running Windows 7 and I still get the error code 2324 when trying to get the latest version of iTunes. Any other thoughts on how to fix so I can have iTunes? I am extremely frustrated.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
