Downloading fax from SCOT

Hi,
We are currently sending faxes from a standard program. However we would also like to have the ability to download the fax into a PDF document.
Does sending a fax (viewed in transaction SCOT) create a temporary spool? If so, I'm unable to see the spool in SP01. There's a note 927736 which describes extending this fax spool and I've applied it but it doesn't seem to work.
Or is there a better way of doing this. Keep in mind that the fax is being generated from a std program with limited user exits.
I am hoping that a spool is generated at the same time and I will be able to run a background job and convert all the spools into PDF documents and then download them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated with reward points.
Thank you.
Liam

Talk to your service provider and check if fax is activated. In some countries GSM service provider allocates a new number to be used for faxing purposes. a.demir

  • Cannot send fax from my mac after upgrading to yosemite

I used to be able to send a fax from my Macbook Pro by using Preview and then printing the PDF to the fax capability on my Laserjet colorMFP M475dn.
    After installing OS X Yosemite:
a dialog told me that "Some of the software for the printer is missing."
When I clicked the button to install, it then said "You need to install software to use this printer... If the software isn't available in Software Update, contact the manufacturer of your printer"
Then I downloaded .dmg files for both the laserjet and officejet (I also have a photosmart I use for scanning)
I deleted the printers and tried to re-add them
When I re-add the laserjet, fax does not show up on the Printer list.
How do I get the fax driver to install on OS X Yosemite?

My apologies for keeping you informed about reset printing system.
i have attached the screen which tells where the Use option is.
also on the screen where it displays the list of printers wait for few seconds and see if it detects the Fax. It took approx 20sec for me.

  • Laserjet M 1530 MFP fax from pc not working

I installed the full driver for the Laserjet M1530 MFP on my Windows 8.1 PC and printing, copying, scanning and manual faxing (directly from the unit) all work fine.
This unit is connected to my PC via a USB cable, although I am connected to my company's network.
What I cannot do is fax from my PC, either a test page or a document from, say, Word.
I applied the IE11 fix, since I have Internet Explorer 11, and upgraded the firmware to the latest version, but still no luck.
The error message I get states that the unit is either off or disconnected, which it isn't.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi @gillesofi ,
I see that you are having issues sending faxes from the computer. I would like to help you out with this issue today.
I wasn't sure what fix you tried, but I see that you are using Internet explorer 11. It is possible that the shell interface of the HPsendfax app. uses the IE build. I know the HP Software Piggy Backs Internet Explorer. With the newer version of IE it could possible be interfering. Any version below IE 11 should be fine.
Make sure the USB cable is connected directly to the computer. (not a hub or docking station)
Temporarily turn off any Antivirus Software to make sure there isn't any interference.
Check to make sure the fax driver is installed. Access the Device Manager window.
How do I get into Windows Device Manager?.How do I get into Windows Device Manager?
If the there are any yellow exclamation marks or unknown devices listed for the printer, right click and update the driver.
You might have to click the + marks to check each section. Sometimes it is listed under Universal Serial Bus Controllers or Print Queues.
Was the fax listed in the Device Manager window?
    How was it listed?
Your welcome to send a screen shot if you like.
Try faxing again from the computer.
Have you tried faxing from the HP Toolbox Software? (error message)
You might have to uninstall the HP Software and reinstall it again.
    Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Perform a clean boot on the computer. This will prevent most third-party programs from interfering with the software installation, since some third-party programs can provoke this issue. Here is some information on how to perform a clean boot: Performing a Clean Boot in Windows. Temporarily turn off any Antivirus software.
Download, save and run the newest software available. HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer Drivers.
Select your operating system, click next and click on the software to download and install.
    Try to fax again.
There is a FAX4Word plugin for Word. It allows easy print/merge to FAX machines. Other posters have used this as a substitute. This is just a work around till we can figure out why you are not able to fax from the software or third party software.
I have provided the steps for changing the settings in the ToolboxFX to receive faxes to this computer for future use, if you decide to do this. To turn it off you can do this from the printer's control panel, page 127. Laserjet M1536.

  • Unable to send fax from computer

    Hi,
I'm unable to send faxes from my computer (e.g, from Word). I get a message: "The device is disconnected or powered off", which is not true.
The printer is an HP  LaserJet 1536dnf MFP.
The OS is Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit, with 8 GB RAM.
I have updated to the latest firmware from the HP site, and have downloaded the latest appropriate driver package for this printer from there as well (hp_M1530_MFP_full_Solution_usb_n_w.exe)
The installation goes normally, and there are no error messages.
The printer is working fine. I am able to print and scan from the computer without problems. I am also able to fax directly from the printer without problems. The only problem is not being able to send a fax directly from the computer.
For instance, in Word (the latest version), when I print to the HP fax printer (which has indeed been installed correctly on the computer), I get a message that the doc has been send to the printer. But no screen pops up letting me type a phone number, and after about 1 minute I get this error:
Have been on the phone for several hours to HP support, and although they did a complete uninstall, and reinstall, the problem persists.
I also downloaded and ran this file from HP: HPLJ_M1530_Fax_IE_11_utility.exe, which is meant to resolve a very similar issue for people who have this Microsoft KB installed (KB2898785), which somehow interferes with the fax exactly as I have described. I do indeed have that Windows update installed. However, running the file did not solve the problem, and there seems to be no way of uninstalling that KB.
So I am at a loss, and would appreciate any help, if anybody can think of anything.
    Many thanks
    Tim

    Hi @Tim613 ,
I see by your post that you are unable to send a fax from the computer. I would like to help.
Since you are able to print and scan from the computer, you don't have a communication issue. The printer will also send a fax, so it isn't a hardware issue. It sounds more like something possibly on the computer is blocking the fax communication.
The Toolbox doesn't support Windows 7 64 bit, but you should still be able to fax through Third Party Software. (Word) Which you have already tried and it didn't work.
I would disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software to see if there is a program interfering in the back ground. How to use MSCONFIG . Click on the start up tab and click disable all.
    Try sending a fax again.
Then you will have to go back and enable the startup programs and turn the Antivirus Software back on again.
    Let me know the outcome.
    Have a wonderful day!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910 Premium will not fax from computer with Windows 8

My printer worked great on Win XP and I could fax directly from the printer or from the computer.  I installed Windows 8 32 bit (I'm running an older system that works fine for everything I use it for -thank you very much), and downloaded the latest greatest HP driver & software for Win 8 32 bit.  Everything works perfectly, except faxing from the computer.
If I run the fax test from the printer, the fax test PASSES.  If I run the fax test from the computer, the fax test PASSES.
If I put documents in the printer feeder and use the printer fax functions, it faxes beautifully.
It is only when I fax from the computer, the screen pops up with a status of spooling, then the status turns to Cancelled every time.
It always worked on Win XP.
The FAX printer and FAX driver for the FAX printer showed up in Control Panel automatically when I installed the updated drivers/software from HP.  All the properties on the FAX printer look good.
I tried a usb connection, and a network ethernet connection, with the same results.
Printing and scanning all work fine.  I really like this printer, and I would like it even more if I could figure out how to get it to fax a document from the computer.
When I say fax from the computer, I mean opening a document, saying Print, selecting Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910, filling in the fax information page, selecting my cover page options, and pressing the send fax.  All just like I used to do before I upgraded to Win 8.  When I hit send fax, that is when I get the popup that the fax is spooling, then it goes to cancelled.  No error codes are displayed, no clues as to why, no nothing.  If I print the document and put it in the printer document feeder, I can fax it using the printer display screen no problem.
    Very bizarre.
    This question was solved.

Alright, I spoke with some of the engineers and they suggested the next few steps. First, here is a thread on an MS forum about removing a driver in an alternate fashion.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc730875.aspx
Another thing to note is that in Win8 you can easily access the Command Prompt by hitting the windows key and typing “command prompt.”
Additionally, I will PM you some further steps on removing the vestiges of the software from the back-end of your PC. You will HAVE to be sure to follow those instructions to the letter.
Do these two things and let me know what happens after you install the printer again from the direct download link I have already provided above.
Let me know and have a great day!

  • Fax from PC: unable to communicate with the device.

    Hi,
Im facing this issue where i am unable to send fax through my PC.
    Some info:
    Device: laserjet CM1415fnw
    IP address for laserjet: 192.168.1.250
    subnet: 255.255.255.0
    gateway: 192.168.1.254
    OS: winvista
antivirus: using AVG free edition 2012
both my print drivers and fax drivers are using the same network port which i set manually by creating a tcp/ip port (192.168.1.250).
I am able to communicate with printer to print, scan but not fax.
When i chose the fax driver to print to, it will send the job, and then display the error:
Unable to communicate with the device.
The device may be disconnected, powered off, or its network settings may have changed.
I tried to install using the drivers downloaded from HP and it created a "HP Fax Port" which i tried changing the port to use this instead, still same error.
A command ping to the ip 192.168.1.250 is getting response.
Anyone have any idea? Or could the AV blocking the drivers from communicating to the printer?

    Hi AWI,
I am sorry to hear that you are having issues faxing. I would like some more information from you so I can look further into this issue for you.
Could you respond to me with this info:
Are you able to fax from your printer, stand-alone?
What model of printer do you have?
Are you running Windows or Mac?
Have you printed a Fax Test? If yes, does it pass or fail on anything?
Look forward to hearing from you!

  • PC Suite stops Microsoft Fax from working

The fax server information cannot be retrieved
I have just downloaded and installed the latest version of PC Suite.
Each time I install the recent versions of PC Suite it stops Microsoft fax from working.
I am running windows XP SP2
    I have a Nokia 5310
    The error message is:
The fax server information cannot be retrieved
The fax wizard will now close.
I can use an earlier version of PC Suite but then my phone is not fully supported.
    Any ideas?

Thanks for your response Miksu. You have pointed me to the right place. It is the connection manager that fails to recognise the BT stack that causes my problems. This is always resolved by a repair. It seems that the order of initiation is very important which may be why Luist has started to have the problem.
In my experience, once things stop to work, I've had to strip out any subsequent installs.
My PCSuite also stopped working after it installed cable connection manager (or something like that) without me asking. I found it in Control Panel->Add/Remove programs. I removed it and PC Suite started to work again, so I completely removed PC Suite then re-installed, and allowed it to add the relevant devices relating to my phone (about 4 devices alltogether) but alas this did not solve my "return from standby" issue. I think I need to remove PC Suite and then Bluetooth, and maybe something else before re-installing - I'll leave that for a rainy day.
    Thanks again Miksu

  • Problem sending Faxes from Change Order(IW32) in NW 2004s

    Hello Everyone,
We have just recently upgraded our version of SAP from 4.6c and we have discovered an interesting issue when trying to fax shop papers from IW32.
In 4.6c we had configured a output device in SPAD that would redirect the output to SCOT via SAPcomm to our Rightfax fax servers.  With the new version of SAP the functionality for creating an output device of type 'FAX' has been disabled since SAPConnect has replaced SAPComm.
How we used to do this is we'd goto IW32, enter an order and choose the menu function Order/Print/Order you could then enter the device type and also the recipient's fax number and the country code.
When we try this in the new system no fax is created, when we remove the device type (clear the box) we still do not create a fax output.  When we specify another device (i.e. printer etc) we get an error stating that this is not a Fax device and the request fails.
Does anyone know of a way to correct this problem since our users would like to continue to fax shop papers from our system.
    Regards,
    James

    Juan,
We are able to send faxes from SAP to our rightfax system without issues.  This is not the problem we are experiencing.
The issue is when you try to fax something from IW32 via the option Print/Order/Print.  It requires a spool output device to be specified.
Since you cannot create an output device of type FAX anymore and you cannot use another type of device type to send the fax we are trying to figure out how to get these printouts to be redirected to SAPConnect and SCOT.
    Regards,
    James

  • Can't fax from computer

My new Officejet 5740, purchased 11/15/14, worked fine until February 2015 – no problems with any of its functions, including faxes.
That was about the time I switched from a wireless connection to a USB connection, and since then outgoing faxes cannot be sent from the computer, although they can be sent from the printer using the LED screen. There is no problem with incoming faxes.
Sending from the printer with the LED screen is an error-prone nuisance compared to the convenience of using the computer. Protracted discussions with HP Tech Support have been no help. The Techs seem to think I should just give up and use the LED screen on the printer.
After trying unsuccessfully to send an outgoing fax using the computer, the Fax Status window pops up indicating "Spooling…" as the status of the fax, and it never goes any further.
Is it possible that my changeover in type of connection from wireless to USB has caused the problem? Do I perhaps need a different driver? If so, where do I go to download one, and what do I ask for? Thank you.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Thanks very much for the detailed instructions for fixing my outgoing fax problem.  Because the instructions involved a number of steps, I hesitated to launch into them until I had the necessary time to go through them carefully.  I was about to do so tonight, but before starting I tried once more to send a fax from my computer.
And what do you know, it worked perfectly, just as it had before this problem appeared a couple weeks ago!  Somehow it fixed itself during the last 7 days -- possibly as a result of one of the periodic software updates that occur automatically(?)  Whatever... I'm just glad it's fixed.  I'll keep your instructions for future use if needed.  Thanks again.

  • OSX Yosemite cannot send fax from computer

    OS X Yosemite.  Photosmart 7250
fax from printer - returns  "Communication Failure", no code, message in Fax Queue.
I am not prompted to enter a phone#.  Fax goes to fax queue and hangs.
Manual Fax from device works fine, phoneline communication is good.
HP Utility can communicate with FAX device.
HP Utility can test Fax device, successful.
Can test FAX device from web page, successful.
checked firmware - up to date
downloaded and installed latest HP software, drivers released  10/22/2014
wiped HP printers and did a clean install.
    Did a hard power reset.
In other words, have done everything HP says at least once or twice.
    Oh, this worked BEFORE Yosemite.
HP software is listed as for Yosemite OSX 10.10 on website.

    It was ADOBE Acrobat.
Adobe puts their own print dialog between user and OS.
I bypassed this and used the system dialog.  It prompted for phone number and I sent and received a fax using HP's fax test number, 1-888-473-2963
    NOTE  to HP   :
Your online help desk could have saved me 2 hours of frustration if they asked these questions:
Is your application using its own print dialog?
Have you tried faxing from the OS print/fax dialog?
This question should be asked BEFORE all other diagnostic tests!
Now I gotta go talk to Adobe!

  • SAP faxing from all-in-one (printer/copier/scanner/fax) device

    Hi,
We have a all-in-one printer/copier/scanner/fax (Ricoh Aficio 3025) and would like to make use of it to send fax from SAP.
I know how to set it up as a printer.  But how should I go about setting it up to send fax?
    Can someone help?
    Thanks in advance.
Edited by: Sisab Nimda on Jan 8, 2009 2:38 PM

You can't just set it up as a fax... you need a fax server in order to send faxes  (I.E. Rightfax)... basically the way it works is that you create a node in SCOT for faxes and send the data to the fax server via SMTP and the fax server deliver the fax to your hardware.
    Check the SMTP guide,
