DPM custom filter for planned tape backups crashes mmc.

I am currently seeing this problem on a production Windows Server 2012\DPM 2012 Sp1 (Version 4.1.3465.8) and am wondering whether this could be related to the upcoming time change this weekend.
All other filters work fine - pulling back up to 7000 jobs. SQL DB passes DBCC checkdb with data_purity fine.
Could this be a bug ?

Mike,
any chance a future DPM version can/will leverage SQL Management studio/SQL Agent for backup job scheduling ? I am sure many DPM admins who (may) know the significantly greater scheduling flexibility of SQL server agent would love to
see this happen.
The proposed workaround would require to build at least 6 additional filters (given the current filter uses the allowed max 7 days) and during 2 weeks in the year the unaware/unprepared DPM admin - may perceive the mmc crash as the beginning of the
end.
Please tell me someone is willing to look at the source code to get this remedied. I know this cant be a SQL problem since SQL server agent jobs run fine time change or no time change.
Thanks for your ongoing help already.

  • Re: Custom Filter for a table

Can someone point me to a tutorial for overriding the FilterableQueryDescriptor to build custom filter for a table?

In the example you provided, the querylistener is invoked only when the user types in the filter field of the table. How do I invoke the querylistener without the user typing in the filter field? For example, an automatic filter without the user typing in the filter field of the table. In other words, a pre-filled filter field. When the table loads at run time the filter field is already filled with the letters "Sa" without user intervention.

  • Custom Filter for Date on UWL iview

    Hello Experts-
I want to display previously approved tasks and current tasks in a UWL iview.
As of now in the iview the taks which are displayed are the one which are pending.
For this I am planning to add a custom filter to my UWL iview.
Can anyone point me some documentation on this? Or Is there any other way to display previously approved tasks or timesheets?
    Please let me know.
Any helpful repsonses are appreciated with points.
    -Raj.

    Hi Raj,
I think its not possible to display previously approved tasks.
If we take example for tasks like Leave Requests or Travel Requests ---
When users raise the leave request it triggers the Work Flow in R3 and it goes to
SAP Inbox of Manager (R3) for Approval.
Now UWL fetches all the task those are in SAP Inbox , UWL does not stores it anywhere.
Aa soon as tasks get approved it goes out of SAP Inbox.
So its not possible to to show it  in UWL again.
Same case with GP task , One the GP taks gets approved it will not come to UWL.

    Piyush

  • Save custom filter for every document?

    Hello,
    sorry for my english ;)
In FW CS3 it was possible to save a custom filter and so this
filter was always shown in den filter list even when you open an
    new document.
Now in FW CS4 you can only save a filter oder a style which
is addicted to the current document.
When you open a new one, you have to select every time your
    saved filter or stile set.
This is no help and in my eyes a step back. I didn´t
found any solution to access my custom filter or stile set right
away when I open a new document.
It doesn´t help to save the workspace area and options
in a own set .. on every start, the stile window is empty and you
    hav to select one.
Does sombody know a way to make a own set or stile selectable
    (instant) to new documents?
    Thank you for any hint.
    Regards.

  • Considering Customer Stock for planning in factory location

    Hi,
We have 2 customers which send us files with the forecast and the stock figures in their storage locations. When planning, we need to consider both together with our own stock for those articles. However, note that flows are not cross company, neither VMIs.
Stocks are only considered for planning so the idea would be to map the stocks directly in APO with IDOC Proact or a BAPI. Have you ever worked with a solution like this?
Article number are exclusive for each customer so I think that a solution could be to plan considering both stocks (at customer and in our plant) and the forecast that they send. Suggestions about creating stock in our plant which belongs to the customer?
Other alternative is creating the customer locations in APO but I am afraid that it is not fully compatible with R/3 and moreover, sales will be in our plant, and forecast in another (customer). P.e: when sales would create the Sales Orders in our plant to process the delivery, we would have double demand in our plant: from the customer purchase req and the sales order.
Could you please advice if you have worked with any similar flow? Which alternative might work better? Other suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!
    Carlos

    Hi,
Since you mention the value of the parts is very cheap, I would suggest to flag these materials as Bulk and plan them via ROP (say VB) & max lot size (HB). Maintain a suitable ROP, safety stock & max stock levels.
If you want you can also think of using ROP with ext. reqmts. (make a copy of V1 to say Z1) where-in you have flagged order reservation to be considered.
Do a test in your sandbox & if it meets your need adopt the same.

    Vivek

  • LR Filters ADD custom filter for Focal Length

I use a Leica M8 and in it's metadate there is a field for focal length of the lens but not the lens name/type and in LR filters there is a filter for Lens but not for focal length.
Is there a way to add a custom entry in LR to filter images based on focal length?
Found a way with smart collections.
    Thanks

Care to share how you did this?

Is there a way to remove this custom filter from the console without having to load the console?  I cannot delete it in the console as every time I select it the console crashed before I can delete.

    Hi,
One of the below outlined options may assist.
    Option 1:
You can attempt to rename the jobfilters.xml with the below steps. Please note renaming jobfilters.xml will remove all custom filters in place and they will need to be recreated.
Log into DPM server with the user account the custom filter was created with. Ensure the DPM console is closed.
From control panel select appearance---show hidden file and folders. Ensure for Hidden files and folders that the radio button is selected for Show hidden files, folders,
    and drives
From windows explorer navigate to the following path
<OS Install Path>\Users\ <account logged in with when DPM custom filter was created> \ AppData\Roaming\Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager\JobsFilter.xml
       4. Rename JobsFilter.xml to JobFilters_old.xml
       5. Open the DPM console.
        6. Navigate to Monitoring- Jobs we should see all custom filters are no longer in place. If so re-create pervious working filters if any.
    Option 2:
Provide full DPMUI0Curr.errlog to assist with investigating further as it may contain errors on the crash.
Log into DPM server with the user account the custom filter was created with.
Take needed steps to reproduce the crash behavior.
From control panel select appearance---show hidden file and folders. Ensure for Hidden files and folders that the radio button is selected for Show hidden files, folders,
    and drives
From windows explorer navigate to the following path
    <OS Install Path>\Users\ <account logged in with when DPM custom filter was created> \ AppData\Roaming\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager\DPMUI0Curr.errlog
       6. Open the DPMUI0Curr.errlog

  • Custom Filter in EVS Valuehelp

    Hi people,
I need to implement a custom filter for the EVS Valuehelp. The default filter can not use wildcards in the filtercriteria.
So I implemented the Interface IWDFilterListener and initialized the EVS  with following code:
    WDValueServices.createBoundValueSet(wdContext.getNodeInfo().getAttribute("test"),
                                                      wdContext.nodeNodes(),
                                                      wdContext.nodeNodes().getNodeInfo().getAttribute("key"),
                                                      wdContext.nodeNodes().getNodeInfo().getAttribute("value"),
                                                       new MyFilter());
Unfortunatly the methode "fillNode" isn't called, when the enterevent of the EVS Filter is fired.
How have I to initialize the EVS for using my custom filter?
    Thomas

Nobody here, who can help me?

  • Commands for Planning Applications in WAD?

    Hi all,
Following the developers' guide on 'Business Planning and Analytical Services'  for 2004S we got stuck on assigning custom Commands for Planning Applications in WAD, which were created in the planning wizard.
The option for 'Commands for Planning Applications' does NOT show up in the command wizard!
is there a ABAP/Java stack pre-requisite for this or is there a new(?) authorisation object missing?
Does it helps for others? On which Java Stack?
    Thx,
    Markus

The server is part of a protection group that is co-located, I am trying the backup not as part of a co-located set to see if this makes any difference.
Tape backups for other servers, which are part of the same co-location group, work fine and it seems to be just this one causing the issue.
I have seen a few other posts on the net referencing "WARNING MediaPool 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 does not exist." where people have similar issue with DPM crashing out but so far nobody seems to have any answers.
I am debating removing the protection group and trying to 'start from scratch' but wondered if anyone else had any thoughts ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ed

    Hi,
Open SQL management studio and connect to the instance used by DPM.
Run the following Query against the DPMDB and see if it returns any rows, if so please provide the output.
    select MP.mediapoolid, MP.PGSETID from dbo.tbl_MM_MediaPool MP
    Join dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedGroup PG on PG.ProtectedGroupId = MP.MediaPoolId
    where PG.MediapoolId is NULL
    and MP.PGSetId is not NULL

  • DPM 2012 R2 Crashes after upgrade - Tape Backup

    Hello guys,
    I have recently upgraded from DPM 2012 SP1 to DPM 2012 R2 Rollup 3 on Windows 2012 R2 (in-place upgrade)
The basic procedure was to backup the DB, uninstall DPM, install DPM 2012 R2, restore the DB.  re-sync all the inconsistent replicas and upgrade server agents. When it comes to the offsite tape backup for whatever reason every time the tape backup
commences it fails instantly with the below error and reports "Backup to Tape Failed"
"Event Log shows MSDPM Error ID 945"
It appears to be failing due to a missing stored procedure 'dbo.prc_SMTE_ComputeDailyTrend'.  The stored procedure does not exist on other DPM servers.  I'm guessing this is something hanging around in the DB from prior to the upgrade but I can't
seem to track it down.  Does anyone have any ideas upon how to resolve the issue?
The description for Event ID 945 from source MSDPM cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
Unable to connect to the DPM database because of a general database failure.  Make sure that SQL Server is running and that it is configured correctly.

  • Do i need to open port for crash plan online backup service

do i need to open port for crash plan online backup service?
    Thanks!

Possibly. I would start by checking out this CrashPlan support article. CrashPlan does require certain ports on both your computer's and network router's firewall to be open in order to communicate properly.

  • DPM is Only Allowing Express Full Backups For a Database Set to Full Recovery Model

I have just transitioned my SQL backups from a server running SCDPM 2012 SP1 to a different server running 2012 R2.  All backups are working as expected except for one.  The database in question is supposed to be backuped up iwht a daily express
full and hourly incremental schedule.  Although the database is set to full recovery model, the new DPM server says that recovery points will be created for that database based on the express full backup schedule.  I checked the logs on the old DPM
server and the transaction log backups were working just fine up until I stopped protection the data source.  The SQL server is 2008 R2 SP2.  Other databases on the same server that are set to full recovery model are working just fine.  If we
switch the recovery model of a database that isn't protected by DPM and then start the wizard to add it to the protection group it properly sees the difference when we flip the recovery model back and forth.  We also tried switching the recovery model
on the failing database from full to simple and then back again, but to no avail.  Both the SQL server and the DPM server have been rebooted.  We have successfully set up transaction log backups in a SQL maintenance plan as a test, so we know the
database is really using the full recovery model.
Is there anything that someone knows about that can trigger a false positive for recovery model to backup type mismatches?

I was having this same problem and appear to have found a solution.  I wanted hourly recovery points for all my SQL databases.  I was getting hourly for some but not for others.  The others were only getting a recovery point for the Full Express
backup.  I noted that some of the databases were in simple recovery mode so I changed them to full recovery mode but that did not solve my problem.  I was still not getting the hourly recovery points.
I found an article that seemed to indicate that SCDPM did not recognize any change in the recovery model once protection had started.  My database was in simple recovery mode when I added it (auto) to protection so even though I changed it to full recovery
mode SCDPM continued to treat it as simple.
I tested this by 1) verify my db is set to full recovery, 2) back it up and restore it with a new name, 3) allow SCDPM to automatically add it to protection over night, 4) verify the next day I am getting hourly recovery points on the copy of the db.
It worked.  The original db was still only getting express full recovery points and the copy was getting hourly.  I suppose that if I don't want to restore a production db with an alternate name I will have to remove the db from protection, verify
that it is set to full, and then add it back to protection.   I have not tested this yet.
