Dreamweaver CS6:  Installation disk won't allow a change in the location of the installation folder

First, I hope the moderators will cut me some slack for making a duplicate posting.  The comments below were posted in the "Creative Suites" community.  I just noticed that there is a "Dreamweaver" community.  I feel the issues I've raised below are more relevant to the latter.
I recently purchased a Dreamweaver CS6 installation disk and have a valid registration code.  The Adobe website has recognized this code as valid.
I started-out  by having the installation disk install into a folder on a high capacity (0.5 tb) external drive.  This was done while my Gateway PC was still working properly.  I did a duplicate installation onto this hard drive (into a separate folder) to accommodate any work I wanted to do on a Dell laptop I also own.  For a few days things seemed to work ok on both computers.  Then the cursor on my Gateway stopped moving.  Several changes of mice failed to resolve the problem.  I've written-off my Gateway as "dead."  However the Dreamweaver CS6 installation MAY (I can't remember) be on a "local" folder on my Gateway and I am concerned I will have trouble installing Dreamweaver on the replacement I've purchased.  I understand one is limited to 2 installations.  If needed, can I purchase a license for a third installation?  And what might that cost?
After turning-off my Gateway I then went to my Dell laptop to try to work with Dreamweaver there.  I felt it was best to install on a "local" folder so I deleted all the Dreamweaver software from the folders on my external drive.  Unfortunately the installation disk is still "pointed" to the folders on my external drive.  To make matters worse I am now getting an error message which indicates I need to install into a folder on the "local" drive of my Dell laptop.  But the installation disk won't allow me to change the path.  On the installation disk the "path" to my external drive is faded-out and it will not allow me to delete and type-in a new path.
I've spent what, to me, are big bucks on this Dreamweaver disk.  It's the only website building software that seemed to get consistently good reviews. However, for me, Dreamweaver is becoming a nightmare!  I'm very much of a novice at website building.  I don't know how, in the world, I will be able to a)  Create something, and then  b)  Get Dreamweaver to put it onto what is now a blank webpage.  I recently got "Dreamweaver CS6 The Missing Manual" and "Dreamweaver CS6 For Dummies."  So far I haven't been able to find anything, in either of these two books, which addresses the issues I've raised here.
Somebody--please help!!
Don't know if my screen name will show up.  So my name is JACK, near Old Faithfull.

Have you tried calling Adobe Customer service? They can deactivate one of your installations so that you can install and run on a new system. And perhaps they can help with your other problem, or send you to a tech support rep who can.
With regard to your use of DW, I'd strongly suggest that you take advantage of this downtime by learning as much HTML and CSS as you can absorb. Multiple sittings would be helpful. The more you know about those two, the easier DW will be for you when you eventually get it going.

My newly installed burner works fine from i-tunes, except the burned disk won't work in my car CD player. The old burner's work just fine in the car. Please help.

Using my new G5 I have the same problem, which I did not know using my old G4 with an external LaCie burner. The CD-Changer in my car is not able to read audio-cds, also my cd-player in my home hifi-system. The only way to play these audio-cds is (strange...) to put them directly in the main tuner of my car (usually used for the navigation cd), not using the Changer.
Maybe the problem really depends on the quality of the CD-Rs. I have used CD-Rs from Sony (it´s a brand, I think?) and will try Verbatim.

  • Photoshop cs6 scratch disks/won't open ps.

Okay, so I got the 'scratch disks are full' message when I tried opening new projects. After googling, I read to just change the location to another hard drive instead of the main one, so I went into preferences, unchecked the C drive & checked the E drive. Now photoshop won't let me open it. I get this message:
"Could not open a scratch file because the fil eis locked, you do not have nexassary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the 'properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file."
.... how do I do this, exactly?
also any help on clearing/sorting out my scratch disks would be appriciated, too.
    Thanks!

  • Premiere Pro 2.0 Installation Disk Won't Read

I had to re-format my hard drive and when re-installing Premiere Pro 2.0 I found that my installation disk will not read in my DVD drive!  Nothing is wrong with my drive.  It reads all other DVDs just fine.  I get nothing in the directory like the disk isn't there.  It's not a disk problem because they have been stored in excellent condition, and not only will the installation disk not run or open, but neither will the accompanying Total Training Video Workshop disks.  I am completely dumbfounded.  When I purchased this program about 6 years ago off Ebay I had the old 1.5 version on my computer, and had to enter the old registration key along with the new one for 2.0.  Is it possible I have an UPGRADE-ONLY copy here instead of the actual full program?  It's in the shiny new box and all and doesn't say anything on it about it being an upgrade, so it seems legit.  And if it was, in fact, just an upgrade-only program, would that cause the disks not to be read at all in the drive??  I need help on this one because I make my living off editing, and I'm sitting on 3 projects for clients that I cannot deliver on time to get paid, nor have I been able to afford to buy a new CS version.

I have about 8 different burners on my systems, and some will read DVD's better than others will. On my workstation, I have one LG and one Plextor. The LG does the best, and when it fails, the Plextor usually can read. When this happens, I just do a Copy from the drive that can read the disc, to the other drive, using Verbatim, or Taiyo Yuden blank media. If neither can read, I have six others to try. Sometimes, it's just the burner.
One little hint would be to make sure that your burner's firmware is updated to the very latest. That can improve the burner's ability to read from a slightly damaged disc.
Otherwise, contact Adobe. For many programs, they sell replacement media. Do not know if there are version limitations, but one call should give you what is available.
    Good luck,

  • CS4 Installation Disk won't launch

I have OSX Lion, a 21.5-inch, late 2009 Mac, and CS4 Premium. I put in Installer Disc 1  for CS4 Premium and double click Install Adobe Creative Suite (BTW, there is a white international symbol for "no" on the icon). A dialogue appears: "You can't open the appication Install Adobe Creative Suite because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
Is CS4 PPC? Any way to fix this? Thanks.

I just did more investigating and my problem is slightly different than I thought.
I originally bought a full version of CS2 (the one with the leaf on the front with a photo of a yellow rose inside the leaf). On the box, it's called "Adobe Creative Suite Premium." Later, I upgraded to CS4 Design Premium (black cover with a strip of colored squares running down the middle). Now I'm in a situation where I need to reinstall Creative Suite on my late 2009 Mac that's running Lion. I'm stuck because I'm pretty sure I need to start by installing CS2 so I can then install the upgrade to CS4. Lion, as you know, won't let me do this because CS2 is PPC only.
I am legal with software at CS4, but this configuration won't let me get back there. Can you help me figure a solution? Thanks.

  • OS X installation disk won't work

my brother recently gave me his old 2010 MacBook pro 13 inch. I went into disk utility and erased the disk so it would be factory reset. The problem now is that when I go to reinstall OS X Mavericks it's not available. I do have an installation disk which I had from my own MacBook which was stolen years ago but when I try to use it nothing happens. I've gone into the start up disk and the only available option is the installation disk. When I choose that it restarts and then comes to a screen that tells me to restart and that keeps happening. Is there any way to install an operation system? I feel like I've tried everything at this point for something that I feel should be so simple. Your answers are greatly appreciated.

So that disk is gray? Does it say 10.6.3 or maybe 10.6.4?
""Mac OS X cannot start up from this disk."
Open up Disk Utility and select partition.
Here's a good guide to walk you through the procedure:

Sounds like the GUID partition scheme is messed up.

  • Bootcamp - Windows installation disk won't read

I have a late-2011, 13 inch MacBook Pro and I am running OS X 10.9.3 with all the latest updates. I am trying to use Bootcamp to runs windows but the windows disk isn't be read by my laptop. I run Bootcamp, it downloads the latest support software but when I put the windows installation disk in; it starts to spin up, makes some noises like it is being read, then it ejects the disk. Anybody have this problem, or now a way around it?

I have about 8 different burners on my systems, and some will read DVD's better than others will. On my workstation, I have one LG and one Plextor. • Start  up disk won't allow movie download

I was downloading a movie onto my G4 laptop and it stopped about half was through and posted a notice that "start up disk is almost full" and it gave instruction to empty the trash and also delete some files. So I took some TV shows off and emptied the trash. Still the same prompt. What is the solution to this problem? Any ideas?

I would suggest you look at getting a couple things from OWC or someone you know.
    A 2nd (and 3rd) SATA drive.
A couple FW800/400 drives for backups. Two sets.
A universal case ($109) that will take an SATA drive and work off eSATA, FW800/400 and USB2 interface.
A copy of Disk Warrior, Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro 4.5.1.
A severely corrupt directory can actually prevent a CD or DVD from booting! (they still try to scan the bus for valid bootable systems on startup).
A FW case might let you mount the drive later.
Discjockey (same folks as Data Rescue and Drive Genius) is a contained unit, no need to use the drive in a bootable system, that can do sector copies if Data Rescue won't (but costs ~$300+).
Preventative maintenance hands down is always easier than after the fact

  • Installation Disk Won't mount

I am trying to install Photoshop Elements 10 from the DVD installation disk. Why is it being ejected before mounting? Other disks mount fine.

It's possible you have only a CD drive. Apple has an exchange program to swap your DVD for CDs.

  • Original Mac Pro Installation Discs won't allow me to reinstall!

    Hi All
I just got hold of a second hand Mac Pro. All seems good until I notice that there's no iPhoto on it, and thats a bit of a must as its for a Photography Studio!
Went to install from the "Mac Pro Applications Install DVD" and get an error:
Alert: You cannot install this software on your computer
So I thought I'd just reinstall the whole system (don't really have time to spend hours troubleshooting) but I get the same problem with the "Mac Pro Max OS X Install DVD".
So any ideas? The discs came in the box with the Mac and everything else seems ok.... has someone fobbed me off with the wrong discs?
    Cheers
    Mark

The disks it came with aren't for that model, aren't OEM
And it would have been better to "troubleshoot" the iPhoto, though I would say it isn't a Pro app or one that a Studio would rely on and use.
    A box set of retail OS X + iLife/iWork
    2006 had dual / dual-core, and 2009 had a single processor quad-core.
5GB though won't take you very far.
If the Install DVD says "10.4.x" what do you see inside or in System Profile about hardware model, graphic card, processors, type of RAM?

  • Office 4 Mac Installation Disk Won't Load

When I try to insert and install the Office 4 Mac 2004 disk into my new MacBook Pro...I get a finder error message saying the application is not supported on this system?? Any ideas?

    Hi Adam,
There are two ways of installing Microsoft Office. One is going through the setup process. The other is just dragging the Microsoft Office folder to your Applications folder. If you are able to get to the point on the disk to do that, then don't use the setup process. Once the folder is installed, and you click on any of the applications in the folder, at that point you will need to do the serial number imput.

I can't downlaod on the software update.
the downlaod and install button won't allow.

If you're already running iOS 5.1.1 that is the most current version.  As such, no issue exists.
