Dreamweaver telephone links

How do you create a link in Dreamweaver that allows a PDA to dial a phone number from a website when browsing?, ie: while viewing a website on a Blackberry/iPhone, clicking on the phone number automatically dials the number. I have to do this in a Frame environment.

This is supposed to work on iPhones that have "dialing" enabled.

Calendar print out with telephone link

Hi everyone!
We have a strange calendar-print out Problem.
We are running GW 2012SP2 on the Client and GW 2012sp1 on the backend.
Default compose view is set to "plain text"
If a User creates a posted appointment in plain text and writes a number
(like a telephone number) in the message field with further
text the number is converted to a kind of "telephone link". OK - but if
we want to print out the calendar
in "expandable day calendar" format with message content the output is
not correct.
Somtimes the code of the link is part of the output or the text after
the "telephone link" is missing.
Can anyone duplicate this?
As a workaround we found either to compose the appointment in HTML or to
delete the "telephone link" manually.
Is this a known bug?

I urgently need to find out how to apply behaviour to images in my webpage. Created with dreamweaver and linked J Query stylesheets.

I have created a web page with a photo gallery of thumbnails that link to bigger images when you hover over them. When the bigger image opens there is an odd shape at the bottom right hand side , that when pressed, will take me back to the home page. But its not the correct sought of button or symbol. I dont know how to set this up properly. I have linked J.Query style sheets. But must have missed something. Can anyone help??? this is my first web page design. It is all done except for this.

Very sensible advice. However, the second sentence in the following statement is incorrect:
1. Make sure that you have updated all recordsets to the latest (CS4) version. Older ones created before the GetSQLValueString function was introduced are vulnerable.
The GetSQLValueString() function has always existed in Dreamweaver server behavior code. However, versions of this function prior to Dreamweaver 8.0.2 are vulnerable to SQL injection.
Unfortunately, you can't update older server behaviors simply by deleting the old version of the function and replacing it with one from DW 8.0.2 or later. Other small changes were made in the server behavior code for compatibility with the revised function. PHP server behaviors created prior to DW 8.0.2 need to be deleted and rebuilt. Yes, it's a pain, but far less of a pain than being hacked.

Dreamweaver open link in same window (basic)

Hey,
I have a verry basic question.
So im creating a page with File->New->2 column left sidebar fixed.
And now i want to have "Link one" link to a new page, and that new page has to be shown on the right side. so that the left bar is still there.
How do i do this ?

Right. Copy/paste the code from source of example and place it into the code window of Dreamweaver. No typing required.
I understand where you're coming from though... You just want to click some buttons and have Dreamweaver do it all for you. Sorry to break it to you, but sooner or later if you want to use Dreamweaver you're gonna have to get your hands dirty in some code. DW is not a do-it-all for everything, although in this case there there is possibly an interface-only method of creating the feature using spry regions. Knowledge and/or the willingness to work with code in Dreamweaver is an unspoken requisite of using the software. It not only helps when reverse-engineering examples that are provided to you it will also allow you to have more knowledge and control over your designs.

Dreamweaver CS4 link help................

I recently built a site on Dreamweaver CS4. Here is the basic layout of what i did. My site is based off of a template, i have set it up using both a spry menu bar (vertical) and using a image based nav bar (not at the same time, but tried both in my efforts to get rid of my problem). I have run into the same issue with both nav options. I linked all of my pages together and everything worked fine, until i decided to add a couple of extra pages and change a few things on the site. when i try linking to these pages from the nav bar the links will not work. The only links that will work are the original ones i set up. Hope somone can help............

Dreamweaver CS3 Linking Using Spry Menu Bars

Hello,
Please forgive my noobieness. I used to use Adobe GoLive and
am now transitioning to Dreamweaver.
I have the layout of the website I want using a template
provided by DW with a fixed main content area, header and a footer.
The banner and the horizontal menu bar are at the top. The content
would be displayed below as each button from the menu bar is
clicked. I have followed the directions in the Missing Manual
series but I still seem to have problems.
1. For example. For a button listing Directions. I have it
set to link to the proper .html file called Directions.html. This
was set using the Spry Properties. Same for Home and a pricing
menu. However when I run it using Firefox it opens a new tab and
displays the chosen content there rather than in the existing page
where the menu bar is located. In IE I cannot even get the page to
jump to any place else. I dont here the clicking noise or even some
kind of recognition that is trying to load the chosen page.
I see a list for target but those have no effect.
2. Secondly. In IE the menu bar drop down works really slow
even when I view other peoples websites that were built using CS3.
In Firefox it seems to work fine.
Any suggestions would be great and appreciated. Attached is
som code.

Dreamweaver 8 link update help

I am trying to update several links at once using the change links command and the first time I changed it I entered something wrong and had to re-update it. Now when I try to change it site wide again, it keeps giving me multiple urls in the string. Everytime I update it gives me an additional "url" in the link even though that is not what I am changing it to.
Any suggestions?
Also, this is for several database links on a library website that also allow remote access. The link I am trying to change is for the proxy server that allows the remote access. I just don't know why it keeps adding extra "url" every time I update.

Javascript window.open telephone link not working

I have an HTML 5 web app that uses Sencha touch for the ipad and iphone. I'm having a problem with some code that use to work, when a user clicks a phone icon it should prompt them to call that person if they are on an iphone. After updating to the latest version of ios we are getting a message saying the web address is not valid.
It doesn't work when using window.open('tel:somenumber') or even just the basic <a href='tel:somenumber'>call</a>
Also, it looks like the same thing is happening when trying to use mailto in the same instances on a iphone or ipad 2.

You should not do it there. Use the windows parameter for you Resource config and set "target=_blank"....I am not on my server right now but search these forums and there are some older posts about it.....or wait a little while for someone wanting easy points who will cut-and-paste it here for you pretty soon. =)

How do I link this drop down menu created in Fireworks when I export to dreamweaver, Help!

Thank you in advance for dealing with my inexperience and answering my question.
I have been stuck on this for wayyyy too long. Here is my problem. I created a drop down menu for a portfolio website I am building. When I pull this into Dreamweaver the way to link the menu items to the pages is elusive. I have no idea what to do. Please help?

Thank you for answering my question. I created the graphics in photoshop, sliced them in fireworks and now I am pulling the site in dreamweaver to link it. The dropdown is just a little dropdown menu. I created it in Fireworks because when I tried to create one in Dreamweaver I had to use a spry which was even harder to figure out and get to work. If I knew Html or CSS my life would be much easier but I don't. I don't have much time to learn it right now since I work over time all week, do graphics freelance and I go to school for computer science. I need to get this site up and I just want a fast little fix to get it up. When I have time to learn more I can make this site better or start a better site, but for right now it just needs to work. Is there a way to get what I have working so I can just get this site up. Later I will have more time and more experience to do this better. I am learning so thank you for your experience.

Linking PDF to Dreamweaver

Im trying to link a .pdf to my Dreamweaver document so that readers can view online. I added the .pdf as an asset in Dreamweaver and linked it just as I would any other link. However when I view it I get this message:
"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your web browser and try again."
I do not have Acrobat or Reader open! Does anyone know what is going on? Or even better, can someone explain how I can publish a .pdf on my website so that when the page is visited it automatically appears without having to click on another link.

Why don't links placed in swf files work in Dreamweaver?

I created a swf file and embeded a link in in to go to another page in my site. The application program (Easy Web Animator) generates the swf file and an html file. When I open the generated html file, the link to another page works when I click on the button. But if I import this swf file in dreamweaver, the link does not work. The generated html file dosen't seem to have anything extra to make the link work, it seems it just dosent work when placed in Dreamweaver.

I feel so stupid. I uploaded both files to my server, and they are
both working now (on the server). I have been previewing the file in a
browser on my hard drive all the time, and the original worked, but
the file placed in Dreamweaver did not. But they both work when
uploaded to the server!
I don't understand it, but maybe you can. I would love to know why I
wasted about 2 days just trying every different setting I can in the
swf file and in dreamweaver.

Dreamweaver Template problem updating links since upgrading to cs 5

I've just installed DW CS5 onto my W7 system.
Can some one please explain why when I update the menu links on my template
now
All my links are displayed like this now when the template updates
<li><a href="membrane_keypad.htm">Membrane Keypads </a></li>
I wish them to be like how they were below
<li><a href="../membrane_keypad.htm">Membrane Keypads </a></li>
Even if I hard code like the above code ..//membrane_keypad.htm dreamweaver cs5 over writes
them when I update the template.
Is there a setting somewhere I have missed.
I never had this issue on CS4

The links in the page will depend on what the links look like in the Template file and where the child page is saved in the site.
So - what do those links look like in the Template file? Where is the child page saved in the site?
Dreamweaver manages links in Template files and in Library items so that they are adjusted to account for saving that child page at any folder location in the site. Are you saying you DON'T want DW to do that?
For what it's worth, there is no difference between CS5 and CS4 regarding management of these links.

SWF links won't open in Dreamweaver preview

I'm kinda new to flash and feeling my way around things, but I've run into a snag and haven't found an answer on any forums yet.
I've created a navigation bar for a website using movie clips with nested animation and I made those movie clips links to different pages in my website.
When I preview the file in Flash CS3, the links work fine. However, when I preview the SWF file in the the webpage built in dreamweaver, the links won't act like links anymore.
This is my code to handle the link:

You need to name the links in the Flash file as if it were living in the same folder as the html file that holds it... essentially because when you load it into that file, that file becomes its relative reference for loading/targeting.

Open link in new browser window

I know how to enter the links in the assets page so when I
export to dreamweaver the links already in the html. Is it possible
to enter a link URL and have it open in a new window? I know that
you can use the popup feature but is there any other way?

I used the Behaviors tab to do this (see: www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/interactivity/behavior/behavior04.html).
The page I was starting from is http://www.wqma.com/schedule.html. I wanted to click on a link and have it open a new window with a .pdf of our schedule.
When I strictly followed the instructions in the above Adobe link, I ended up having a new window open with the link I wanted. In addition, however, the old window *also* opened to the new page. Then I tried deleting the address within the '<a href=...>' parentheses. (I assumed that's what Linda meant by leaving it blank.) But when I did this, the initial page jumped back to my home page. So instead, within the '<a href=...>' parentheses, I entered the address for the page I was starting from (<a href="http://www.wqma.com/schedule.html">). This made the first window "stay" on the page I was starting from, and also opened another window with the page I wanted.
