Droid 3 Backup Assistant "Sync Now" Failure

I've been spending nights and hours on the phone and chat boxes with technical support.  Some folks suggest deleting the Backup Assistant icon (there isn't one).  One said it had to do with security blocks I've put on my account (there don't seem to be any at this point).  What is it going to take to get backup assistant to work again?  What if I don't want it to sync with an email account?  My prior phone was an ENV3   I had phone number contacts in it.  It did not have email or brick & mortor addresses.  My email account(s) don't have phone numbers or addresses.  Can I just save (keep) my phone numbers and back them up to backup assistant?  They seem to have been transferred into the Droid 3 & are available.  How do I get Backup Assistant to assist with backing up the phone numbers?
Also, in one place Verizon suggests using Advanced Task Killer to close apps.  On the phone a service rep says it can be harmful.
I have a Palm  Tungsten that I would love to find an app to replace, but am holding out at this point.

Midwestraised, thanks for sharing your concern. You cannot completely remove the Backup Assistant, but you can reset the Backup Assistant which gives you the option to set it up like a new account on the phone. To do this, clear the data/cache from the Backup Assistant application. First force stop by going to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Sync Service>Force Stop. After this, clear the data/cache. You can then try setting up the Backup Assistant again if you choose.

why is backup assistant plus sycning when i have it set not to????????????????

Great question. I see you have it to sync late at night from 12am-6am. The backup now is only if you want to perform a manual backup at anytime. You will need to change the backup sync time to not backup automatically. Keep us posted and let me know if that works.

  • Stuck in a sync request from Backup Assistant

I just got an replacement Barrage and am working with Backup Assistant but it's stuck in a sync request that didn't work.
    Here's what has happened:
I backed up contacts to Backup Assistant from old phone. worked fine.
Looked at contacts on-line and they are all there and fine.
    Activated new phone.
I pressed Sync on the online contacts, no error.
I picked up my phone and I think hit a button right when the download started. seems like it stopped/cancelled it or something
The contacts weren't put on the phone.
When I hit Sync on the web page now I get this message:
"We're still working on your sync request. We'll be done in a moment. (39125)"
and have continued to get this for 2+hours with nothing happening with phone. Anyway to reset this and start the sync over?
    thanks

I would be glad to look into your backup assistant syncing error. Please on the phone go to menu>media center>browse and download> click on backup assistant and follow the prompts it should bring your contacts to your device. If you still experiencing errors please send me a PM and I would be glad to further troubleshoot and look at your account.
    Thank you

  • I had to perform a master reset on my HTC one, before doing so the phone was backed up using the backup assistant app. Now there is no restore button I can find to get my contacts back. How do I restore my contacts?

I had to perform a Master Reset on my HTC One while trying to work through an issue. This was done with a Verizon rep on the phone and we performed a backup using backup assistant. Now I am not able to restore my contacts because I do not have a "restore" soft button when I open the backup assistant app. How do I restore my contacts?

Have you updated the dreaded Backup Assistant program?  I think you need to do this first before you can restore.

If you are using a Microsoft Account for HTC restore your stuff and get off the Backup Assistant and use Windows Phone's native backup, Learn about Windows Phone backup | Windows Phone How-to (United States) and you'll never have to go through this again

  • Pin backup assistant

I have a blackberry 9330 which have had no problems until now.  It started shutting down once in the evening.  Was able to restart.  I took it to a service center about the problem.  Idea was to reset to factory defaults.  Did so.  Before leaving the center contacts were updated.  After coming home, when I do backup assistant, it asks for pin.  Put in correct number.  Keeps asking for a pin.  Even tried to change it.  Have deleted and reloaded it three times.  Still will not sync due to pin.  Question is now what?

Answer to my own question.  After trying to figure out different ways to make things work, finally called customer service for Verizon.  We tried again to delete and reinstall the backup assistant.  We figured out it was trying to reinstall the same program that was still showing up on the phone.  In essence, it was not deleting the program.  Like I had said it was working when I left the store.  The only thing that was accomplished was that I had sync'd my backup with phone and then it wasn't working.  It gave me a thought.  Corrupt backup.  I wiped the phone and started over from scratch.  Reloaded all my apps through blackberry via the computer.  Reloaded backup assistant.  Now working with no problems.  Answer is that somehow the backup became corrupt and would not update until that backup was removed.  Anybody else having these problems might want to look at that.

I have had the same problem. Best Buy accidentally set my phone to my mom's number, Backup Assistant synced with her contacts, then I realized the problem. They were able to switch numbers but then my BA wouldn't work. I have all of my contacts from Google, but I'd still like to sync up with BA. Whenever I try, it tells me that either the PIN is wrong, my phone number has changed, or the PIN is for another account/MDN (or something like that.) This is very frustrating.. I can't figure out how to uninstall then reinstall BA or even reset it so I can back up the contacts I have now. Please help!!!!!
Thanks for posting.  Have you tried logging onto Backup Assistant (BUA) from the website?  Have you tried setting up BUA on another phone?  If you have taken these measures already then please PM me your number and I will reset your pin using the resources I have.  Thanks.

  • Message+ PC Backup Assistant pop-up

I recently installed this on my wife's laptop and she started getting these message pop-ups saying "Get Backup Assistant, Sync contacts from your mobile device to your desktop with Back Up Assistant. Click Here to get this service."
I tried installing the Back Assistant, but this didn't help the problem.  I've been using this on my laptop for a while with no problems.  We are both using Windows 8.1.  The only difference I can see is that she is using an iPhone 4 and I'm using an Android phone.
Is there any way to stop this pop-up message on her computer?  It is quite annoying.  Otherwise, the application works great and she'd like to continue using it without the annoying pop-up.
    Thank you!

I have this same issue with my Samsung Intensity™ II not connected in any way to my Windows 7 PC running Message+. The pop up occurs randomly, and it says "Get Backup Assistant: Sync contacts from your mobile device to your desktop with Back Up Assistant. CLICK HERE to get this service. CLOSE" The all caps text are the options.  If you CLICK HERE, it takes you to Verizon Cloud - Verizon Wireless  And when I look at the "Compatible Devices" on that web page, obviously the Intensity II is NOT there, so I'm stuck. I don't mind the suggestive sell; once. The repeat is driving me back to using the web.vma.vzw interface instead, which is a pain due to the constant log-outs.

  • Where are all my contacts using Backup Assistant?

I am trying to back up all contacts on my IPhone 5. I updated using the backup assistant and do not have the entire list.
On ICloud they all appear to be there. I am just trying to have a backup if my phone broke.

Thanks for the additional info, Mpag! If I understand correctly, the contacts you have in Backup Assistant right now are not a match for what's on your phone. If that's accurate, then I recommend against attempting to synchronize with Backup Assistant out of concerns that the data that's online may override what you have on your device. Instead, use iCloud to backup what's on your device now, and THEN synchronize with Backup Assistant They should blend, bringing both your work and personal contacts into one place on your iPhone. Then, going forward, each backup with your choice (Backup Assistant or iCloud) should have an up-to-date version of your contacts list.

  • Backup Assistant has lost my contacts - how do I get them back?

About two weeks ago, I looked at the Backup Assistant Sync report, and instead of 120+ contacts there were only 4.  When I opened my contacts, there were a few there, but only with email addresses.  The contact list I had been using was accumulated over 4 phones and consisted of names and telephone numbers.
Sure enough, the email addresses were associated with my gmail account.  I did not authorize any change to the data source to sync to.  Did Backup Assistant decide to switch to the gmail files to sync to?
This is extremely aggravating.  I have lost 6 years worth of telephone numbers.  I don't understand why this happened.  Does my telephone contact list still exist somewhere?  How can I make sure that it syncs to the phone numbers and NOT the email addresses?

you should still be able to access your contacts by logging in online to the backup assistant website.
however, I strongly suggest from there that you export your contacts to a CSV file and import them to your google contacts.  Once I did that, I have not had any issues since.

  • My Droid Razo won't Sync with Backup Assistance any longer

I have a Droid Razo I got a couple of months ago.  The Verizon Employee helped set it up and set the backup assistance to sync between 12-midnight and 6A.  It use to work fine.  In the last week or so I get up in the morning and it says there was an error syncing. I checked to see if the backup assistance was still on and it is.  I tried Syncing several times manually and I keep getting the same error.  Do you think it has to do with my phone or Verizon?

Dennis give this a Suggestion a Try: Instead of using B A try using Google as i Mentioned in my Post above this One..
Here are the Instruction For Doing this Procedure: These Instructions an Credit goes to Mr. Wildman with thanks B33
Check out my post at https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/663943 that covers this issue...
    1. Log into Verizon Backup Assistant
    2. Click on Export to CSV
    3. Save File as (or Rename to) Contacts (it should already be converted to CSV so including .csv is redundant)
    4. Log into Gmail/Google Voice
    5. Click on Contacts
    6. Click on Import
    7. Browse for the Contacts (.csv) file
    8. Click Import
    9. Disable BA by going to Settings / Applications . Manage Applications / All Tab / Sync Service / Clear All
All contacts on youir device should sync to Google if they are not in the BA backup...   Now I do say should because no software is perfect

  • Backup Assistant no longer syncing on droid x

I've been able to sync successfully ever since I purchased my droidx on the first day it was out in the market. For the past two days, I've been unable to sync my contacts and just receive an error message that my "subscription cannot be confirmed at this time" and to "contact customer support for assistance." I've deleted apps I've installed within those past two days but to no avail.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I synched my Droid1 with my Google account and ditched Backup Assistant. Works fine, and also works with Google Voice which is far better than Visual Voice Mail AND free.

  • Droid Backup Assist--Please HELP!

I apologize in advance if this is a duplicate thread, but I'm desperate and on a time crunch....
My Droid (the original) decided it would stop working and somehow fried its hard drive; or so that's what the "tech" at my local Verizon branch said. I was really careful and had backup assistant as well as anti-droid theft installed, but now that the phone is trash I have no access to anything (including some very important documents). I am attempting to find someone that could honestly tell me if there is a way to use either backup assistant or anti droid theft to load all of my info that is on my droid to my computer, that is if it's even there at this point. I was unable to back any of the phones files/downloads previous to now because I didn't have a computer until a few months ago... I've been told there are ways to access the files and possibly load them to my computer without the phone itself working, but I have no clue as to how to do this. Could someone please help me out? I'm desperate!

A lot of your data should be on your SD card, the first step would be to pull that out of your phone and use a card reader with your computer to see what all is on it.  As for what is on the internal storage (on the OG droid, that should be minimal), you may be out of luck.  Hopefully you have your contacts synced with gmail, in that case, they will automatically sync with the new phone, as well as your applications (though unfortunately not the data that is associated with those apps).

  • Backup Assistant says "No New Data" even when new entries made in my Droid X

I have my Droid X set up for a nightly backup.  Every night it runs & then says "No New Data".  I have intentionally added new contacts to my phone contact list to see if it is backed up & it is not.  Does anyone have any idea what I am missing here?  How is this a backup if it doesn't find & store the new information?

    1. Log into Verizon Backup Assistant

  • Deleted contacts keep re-appearing in my Contacts. Why??!!! Backup assist failure.

Every morning when I wake up, I have an alert on my Droid Razr M that says the backup assistant failed. So I delete some old contacts to make room so I don't have to pay for an upgrade. Same thing the next day. I look, and ALL the contacts I deleted have been re-populated to my phone! How do I get them to stay gone?

I want to ensure you have positive experience with Backup Assistant. Let's ensure your contacts back up at the time of removal. To backup current contacts head into Settings > Backup Assistant Plus > Backup Assistant plus Contacts > Sync Now.

  • Phonebook, Backup Assistant and Verizon Cloud always out of sync

I have a very strange problem regarding syncing. Basically, the contacts in my phonebook on my Droid Razr HD, are never in sync with Backup Assistant Plus and the Cloud. My understanding was that if I edit, add or delete a phonebook entry, it would be backed up and kept in sync with Verizon Cloud, which I subscribe to. But that never happens. Entries are in the Cloud, but never in sync with my phonebook. And when I click on a contact in the Cloud, it is always empty. It is though all 3 entities are stand alone products which remain out of communication and out of sync with each other.
Backups take place at schedule intervals, and rarely fail. Yet nothing seems to happen. Reading other posts about the issues people have with syncing, it is clear to me that sync is the problem child of Verizon, and few if any CSRs seem to understand it. If you talk to 5 CSRs, you will get 5 different explanations of how it is supposed to work, and the customer is caught in the middle. I've tried all the usual steps, including Sync All, Sync Now,
In People-->Settings-->Contact Storage-->Contact Storage Accont, the only options available are Backup Assistant Plus (which I've selected) and Google (unselected). Cloud is not even an option and seems to work in a standalone mode. I don't even know why BAP is offered, when Cloud is being used. I thought Cloud was the replacement for BAP? The whole thing is a bit of a mess, honestly, and needs to be re-engineered from top to bottom. In the meantime, would anyone know how I can get these products to work as they should?

    Ann154 is correct, use gMail.
The Verizon cloud is not acceptable or functional.    I went through the set up with Verizon and was not able to get backup assist and cloud to do it's job.
I just switched carrier, and from Android, to iPhone, back to android.   The only way to get it all together was to use gmail (which I did not have, but opened free, just for this purpose.)
