Droid Razr not charging

I have an upgrade in 4 days but yesterday my Droid Razr just stopped taking a charge. I tried the wall charger and car charger and neither worked, but they both charge my boyfriends phone. It's not even showing up that the charger is connected (no green or lightning bolt while charging). I just moved to a new state and rely on my phone to talk with family and friends. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Or cost to fix it?
Thanks!!

Hello kelder1, a working phone is super important! Was there any physical or water damage on the phone? Any discoloration or debris in the charging port of the phone? Repairs would be done through the manufacturer of the device which is Motorola. For pricing, you can reach Motorola here: http://bit.ly/TlPAMw

  • Droid RAZR (not MAXX) 4G, service drops on GB and ICS

Okay, the forums are full of threads concerning this issue. The phone loses data connectivity as well as voice. Every person seems to have a different opinion as to when or where their service drops, and I have tried to find a fix (official or not) since I first got my RAZR.
I got my phone sometime in March 2012 from a Verizon store during a promotion. I was happy I can get a phone with better hardware than my DROID X (awesome phone-best I ever had). I didn't care much about the 4G, but I considered it a perk for upgrading.
    1. A day later I started having problems with my service. The 4G connection would drop, the 4G icon would turn white and then disappear for good. The phone would have no data connection at all but a few seconds later the white 4G icon would reappear and turn blue later. I thought it is because the 4G coverage is spotty as I was constantly moving from one place to another. But I got home (where I never had problems and Verizon service was always excellent) and it would do the same thing.
    2. I have data connectivity and voice service but I turn off the screen. When I turn the screen back on, data connection is lost and I have no service available. I had one error that said "SIM card invalid" or something like that a few times. On Gingerbread I just switched to 3G only and I had no problems. But every time I switched back to use the LTE, I had the same problem over and over.
    3. Upgraded to ICS as I figured Motorola and Verizon worked together to find a "cure" for these sudden service losses. I was wrong. With ICS it is even worse. I lose data and voice service very often. In store, Verizon employees are telling me they have never seen problems like mine (liars?). On the phone with CS I am told they do not know of any issues similar to mine. But forums are full of threads of people having the same issue. Answers from VZ employees are not very clear and directs people to a simple Factory Reset, cleaning the SIM card, reinserting the SIM card... basic stuff a monkey could think of too.
    4. Some times after a phone conversation, I hang up and immediately after, my service drops. I have to turn the screen off and then back on after about 5 seconds, the service is still nowhere to be seen, but if I leave the screen on for about 10 seconds, the phone will regain its connectivity to the network. THIS HAPPENS IN 3G COVERAGE AS WELL AS 4G NOW.
Steps taken: Downloaded the Motorola app to Restore Connectivity - did not work, I still have the problem.
Carefully cleaned the SIM card surface making sure there is no static electricity  discharge - did not work, I still have the problem.
Factory reset numerous times  - did not work, I still have the problem.
Removed and reinserted the SIM card - did not work, I still have the problem.
Updated to ICS hoping that would solve the problem - did not work, I still have the problem.
Anything I do I still have the problem.
So please tell me, Does VZ publicly acknowledges there is a problem with DROID RAZR? If yes why do some people inside VZ deny any issues with it while others don't. Aren't they trained or aren't they reading the same training material the others do? Besides that I am not aware of Motorola or VZ taking any responsibility in trying to fix this.Is there a fix in the works? Please if there is any help for people like me, with the same problem, I think VZ should email owners with solutions. REAL SOLUTIONS because it is possible. I receive newsletters for new phones and plans but none to suggest a fix to issues.
And factory reset after factory reset is not working out for me as I use my phone not to txt my friends or send funny pictures of my dog to my neighbor but for business. This is really affecting and annoying me. And yes, I could switch to an iPhone but Android provides me with a great deal of options in my line of work that iPhone does not have. And yes, I could switch to another Android based phone, but I paid for this one and I want to use what I paid money for.
Again... final question is: Is there a fix, a software fix (I think this has to do with software) for this?
    Thank you!

I had EXACTLY ALL of the same issues (plus some Bluetooth issues):
Got my phone in January or February
First instance of this happened about the middle of June (or maybe the third week) for several days before I finally called, believing it was a "hiccup" in the network (still on GB)
Customer Service did some troubleshooting, placed it in "safe mode" to see if it might be an app causing it, factory reset, etc., etc., etc.......
VZ put in a network trouble ticket which seemed to solve the issue (although I don't really know what may have been done) for about a week (now I know that this was a mere coincidence)
About a week or two later (still on GB) it started again; this was maybe a Wednesday
CS troubleshooting, another trouble ticket, etc., etc., and then I finally did a factory reset myself
Friday night (maybe Saturday) ICS is out, and downloaded believing it would fix it.
The problem was resolved briefly (several hours, maybe a full day) and then began again with a vengance
Called, went through all the same humbug, did a couple (or a few) factory resets, and I too, had the "invalid SIM" error show up on the screen out of nowhere ........
Customer Service had me to go to my local Verizon store and get a new SIM (they thought that might possibly be the problem). Got the replacement, and it worked, again, only briefly; just a few short hours later, it was right back to the same old thing........more phone calls
    trouble ticket is still out.......
Was even told by the advance tech support person that on several phones with this very same problem, that he actually saw this resolved by simply creating a different, brand new Google account (instead of the Verizon customer's original Google account) during setup, after a factory reset (don't ask me how......). Gladly, this is one step that I didn't take (that's all I need is one more email account!)
Finally, it was determined that it MUST be the device. I really didn't want another phone as I always keep my phones in pristine condition cosmetically, and there was no reason (as far as I was concerned) to swap it.
Reluctantly, I allowed them to send me a replacement. I say, "reluctantly" because my original was a new device but they would be sending me out a "certified reconditioned, like-new" replacement.
After some trepidation, I decided to go ahead; Motorola would probably take a year to get mine back to me after finding "nothing wrong", or the same year getting me a replacement, should I be lucky enough that my original device would act up for them to see that there actually is a real problem. Verizon, on the other hand could have a replacement to me in two days.
Needless to say, it has been a week (5 days) with the replacement and I have to admit that it absolutely WAS the device that I bought originally. This replacement hasn't repeated the problem, (with the exception of ONE VERY MINOR instance of about a 5 - 15 minute window on one day only), and I'm happy to say that it works like my original device did when I first got it.
I got a call after the 3rd or 4th day (I believe it was the 4th day) with the replacement device, from the trouble ticket people (technician who actually works out in the field maybe?) and was told that they have thoroughly checked the network/antenna/tower here and found that there was absolutely nothing wrong, and that everything is functioning as it should.
This problem was continuously happening at my house, so it was natural that I believed something was wrong with the tower here near my house. I live in a good 3G/LTE coverage area near New Orleans and had no problems whatsoever from January/February through the first part of June, so it was only natural that I thought it must be a problem with the tower.
I thanked him, and told him about the replacement, and he told me that's what he was going to suggest next, and it was the only suggestion that he had left.
Just know that in the course of all of these calls, I was told by at least a few reps (2 for sure) at Verizon that they were aware that this IS a problem on some of the Razr's and Razr Maxx's.
If this is as bad for you as it was for me (and I'm confident that it is), then I would call Customer Service - don't go to a store. Tell them EVERYTHING that has happened, everything that you've done to attempt to resolve it (including the painful process of factory resets), and what I've described here.
If you're okay with a "new" (read: replacement) device, then I'm sure that they can get you a replacement out in short order. As far as it looking new, you would NEVER be able to tell cosmetically that this isn't a brand new device.
I hope that this was able to help you, as well as all the others, with this issue.
Good luck everyone, and God bless you.

Okay, so regrettably, I must report to everyone that the replacement followed suit after only 6-7 days. It lost 4G connectivity and jumped to 3G and that's where it stayed.
So I call Verizon and after a brief conversation, they asked if it was okay for them to transfer me over to Motorola for them to troubleshoot and I said that I'd be more than glad to speak with them.
    Here's the breakdown:
After a lengthy call (an hour and twenty minutes), allowing them to remotely connect to my phone, and the Level 2 Tech seeing for himself that it's on 3G in a full 4G area, he tells me that there's nothing more that can be done.
    WHAAAT?!!!
He said that if I want to send it in to Motorola they'll look at it, and if they did find anything wrong with the phone they'll send me a replacement, but if they DON'T find anything wrong with it (which I'm sure would be the case), they will simply send me my phone back, and that it will be Verizon's network that is the problem.
In this scenario I would need to find a replacement phone to use while my Razr goes to Motorola (for them to find nothing wrong with of course, and blame everything on Verizon's LTE network) only to get it back weeks later and be totally inconvenienced (this has been going on since June).
The last thing he said to me before getting off the phone was that they have similar devices with other carriers and they don't have any of these problems with those devices.
I've started searching the other devices forums here in the Verizon Wireless Community and I'm beginning to see a pattern.  The same issue is happening with quite a few of the other 4G devices so I'm not really sure that another device (different manufacturer) is even the answer.
They have sent me yet another Droid Razr and I can honestly say that this will be the last one. If I can't find a device that will actually keep/hold LTE connectivity then I may have to go back to Sprint.  Their native coverage is nowhere near Verizon's but they also don't have much 4G coverage right now.
If I'm going to have to be on 3G anyway, I may as well pay less than I'm paying now - or at least pay the same and not have to worry about going over on data.I guess we'll see how this replacement works out and go from there.
Anyhow, just know that it may not be a Razr/Razr Maxx problem after all.
Hopefully, they can get this sorted out and we can all get back to life......

  • Droid RAZR not supported by Sync My Ride

Less than two years ago I purchased a Droid RAZR and it was compatible with Sync My Ride SMS text messaging. Now that feature is not supported. What changed?

        Dub8305
Sounds like a great application, especially for keeping yourself and other drivers safe. Everything I located about your Sync service (if you have a Ford), shows the Droid Razr is compatible; click to confirm http://ford.to/1a231T1 . Any updates to the application or program are not supported by us, but rather by SYNC. If you have verified your phone is up to date on software, please contact them for additional support http://ford.to/1coVgwm .

  • Razr not charging now totally dead

This afternoon I plugged my phone to its wall charger and about an hour later I when I went to get it, it had not charged at all. Infact it was down to the thinnest red line. By the time I got home it was totally dead. So I got my other wall charger thinking that maybe there was something wrong with the first charger, and again no charge. I also did the power/down vol and no response. It has been working fine, I've never had this problem before and I totally dread the thoughts of having anything to do with the staff at our local Verizon store. Help! Thanks so much.

Hey there slm2110. I am sorry about the charging issues that you are having with your device. It sounds like it needs an energy boost and I am here to revive it. I am concerned that you don't feel comfortable visiting your local Verizon Wireless store. If you have been mistreated in any way, please bring it to my attention so I can submit the proper feedback. I also apologize for the delay in my response and I appreciate your patience.
Were you able to get your phone turned back on?
If the phone was charged, the way to get it back on would be through a soft reset. To do that you would want to press and hold down the power key and volume key on the same time for about 10 seconds. It sounds like you have already tried this and I am sorry if it has not worked.
If you have tried multiple chargers to try to bring it on and it is still off, we would have to look into replacement options. If you are still under warranty we can replace the phone at no cost to you as long as there is no physical or water damage done to the device.
If your outside of warranty, but you have insurance on the device, you can place a claim at www.phoneclaim.com.
If you are outside of the warranty and do not have insurance then we can either activate an older device for you or else you can look into our Certified Pre Owned Program by visiting http://vz.to/rcDvLW.
If you have an upgrade available you can than upgrade to a brand new device. Let us know if you need additional assistance.

  • Droid RAZR not restarting after factory reset

    Hi,
I just switched from my old Droid 4 to my sister's old Droid RAZR, which she had no problems with when she last used it. After switching my number over and such, I decided to do a factory reset to wipe off all her information. However, now it won't restart and it's been over an hour since I did the factory reset. It just sits at the eye-looking page and doesn't go any further. Any suggestions on what to do?

        Hi ejackson18,
I'm sorry to hear that your reset is stuck. I definitely want to get the phone working for you again! Are you able to try the Alternate Methode instead?

  • Droid Incredible2 not charging, usb is working

My phone has spontaneously stopped charging. When I plug it in, the phone does recognize that it's plugged in, but it does not show that the phone is charging. I have used two different chargers, both unsuccessfully. Also, I can plug the phone into my computer via usb and everything works for transferring data etc... but not charging.
The phone is less than 1 month old. Hardware warranty issue, or something I can reset on my end?

I've had the same issue THREE different times, I usually call customer service and they send me a new di2 and I send the old one back. It's free of charge since it's their fault because it's a phone issue that their charger ports get loose easily.

  • Droid Razr (not maxx) stuck in boot flash droid screen after a server initiated OTA ICS upgrade. How do I recover?.

I am stuck in the boot flash droid screen after a server initiated OTA ICS upgrade. I have an email from Verizonwireless confirming that the ICS upgrade is complete. But I am not able to use the phone. Any I help appreciated getting back to my phone working. I am not much care about ICS or GB. I am paying over 100 each month and any down time over 2 days is unacceptable.
In the forum I see lot of people had a problem and since Vierzonwireless or Motorolla has not publicly accepted this as a issue. Also the server push upgrade  was poorly timed, I was away from my home town on a road trip over the mountains and valley  where the 4G network is spotty and the phone battery was draining often while using the GPS navigation.
Thanks for the forum and appreciate any help to get back to working..

Sorry the update came at such an inconvenient time Beachcrafter. I hope you were still able to have a good roadtrip. It sounds like the signal flux in the mountains along with a lower battery may have contributed to the update bringing up the boot flash screen you mentioned. The option ejf74 mentioned about how to go into the recovery screen is a great way to restart the Droid. I would recommend starting with the reboot option though. If needed, the wipe data/factory reset option would be able to bring your phone back to how it came out of the box. The wipe data/factory reset option will erase everything on your device memory. You'll get to keep the ICS upgrade that was completed, but you'll need to log back into Gmail and all your other services and apps to start using your device again.

  • I currently have a DROID RAZR M and I'm 1 year into my 2 year contract.  Since the Kitkat update, the phone won't stay charged and it's very buggy.  I know this is not Verizons fault but it's also not mine. I would like to change my phone to an iPhone 5s

I currently have a DROID RAZR M and I'm 1 year into my 2 year contract.  Since the Kitkat update, the phone won't stay charged and it's very buggy.  I know this is not Verizons fault but it's also not mine. I would like to change my phone to an iPhone 5s and keep my same plan but switch to the Edge program. Is this possible? I don't think I should have to pay an early termination fee or anything like that since my phone has become almost unusable. I know under normal circumstances you have to wait 2 yrs to upgrade but due to the update and the poor service I'm now getting I hope Verizon can make an exception. Thank you.

How recently did you switch?  If it's less than 60 days, then Verizon simply reinstates your previous account.  The fact that you were on the EDGE plan and mailed the devices back, and they apparently are somewhere in the system, could cause complications, and it might just work out that you just go back on the same plan and they set you up with the same devices.  I'm not sure how it will go - but since you are still being billed for the devices...

  • Droid razr hd will not charge

so I have had my droid razr hd for over a year(got it July '13) and I got it through a third party....but I'm still on VZW so I thought that I'd check. Firstly, my familuy's cellphones(all smartphones) have been experiencing the issue where texts that were sent are not received until 1-2 days later. It's annoying. My second issue is that my phone has suddenly stopped charging. I'm not sure if I inadvertantly caused that issue or not. I have insurance on my phone through the third party. Just wondering if people have had similar issues......

Being able to send and receive text messages in real time is extremely important and we are sorry to hear you are having some problems with that mckinl24. You have reached the right place for help with getting this issue resolved for you. With the text messages are you using the native text application or a third party application? Does it show the messages were sent real time on your phone but the other person is just getting them later? What is happening when your phone is plugged into the charger? Let's try resetting the text application to see if it resolves the issue with texting http://vz.to/VNWavn Keep us posted.

  • I bought a new Droid Razr Maxx six months ago and now it does not work..

So I bought my new Droid six months ago because the battery life was supposed last a long time. Recently, my battery usage time has started depleting. The phone only stays charged for MAYBE half a day where I used to go over a day without charging it. It has also started shutting off at random times and freezes up often. When I make/receive calls, no one can hear me. My keyboard malfunctions as well.
My contract is not up until February of 2014. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to get a new phone (iPhone 5) without paying the ETF or the full price of the phone? Verizon has not been helpful at all and it is very frustrating because I have been a loyal customer since they were Alltel.

If your Battery is starting to Loose it's Punch you can get it Replaced)  Motorola has a Program were you can send you Maxx in and they will Replace the Battery For a Small Fee but at least it would get through till you Contract is Up...
How can I replace the battery on my Droid RAZR?
There are a couple of things you can do before replacing the battery. Sometimes it's a matter of changing a few settings that will ensure you're getting all the power you can from your battery. Motorola Customer Service can help you with this process over the phone.
    Before you call:
We recommend that you completely deplete the battery by allowing the device to completely shut down when the battery has depleted.
Once your product shuts down, plug it into the charger that came in the original box, and allow it to charge to 100%.
Once you've completed this charging cycle, call Motorola Support at 800-734-5870, and the team will diagnose your battery, and recommend setting changes or actions. If your battery does need to be replaced, we offer two battery replacement options:
The battery only replacement program lets you send your product to Motorola so that we can replace the battery and return the device back to you. If your device is within the warranty period there is no charge for this service. If your device is outside of the warranty period, the cost of this service is $49 plus applicable taxes.
You can expect to receive the device back approximately 5 business days from the time we receive the device.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.
If your device is outside of the warranty we also offer an expedited battery replacement program. For an extra charge we'll provide you with a FedEx label to return your product, the cost of this service is $69 plus applicable taxes.
You can expect to receive the device back 3 days after we receive the unit.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.

  • Droid razr maxx won't charge?

My droid razr maxx won't charge past 40%. I still am using the original charger and have tried charging while the phone is both on and off... Any suggestions?

As Rc indicated some USB's can have issues I have't seen any troubles in the one's that I currently own but I have more than one that I can use Plus I have the old Traditional OEM charger's that Motorola currently sell's but's not included in the box with the phone) The one you see below is one that I have and is usually found with an accessory..
If the phone is not passed the 14 day return,  box it up with it's papers and return it to the store and have a Rep check it out with another charger if it works ok and you want to keep it Go a head)  But if you'd rather exchange for another one see if the Rep will let you do it.  Good Luck on your Decision.. b33

  • Droid Razr will not power on after new update.

I have the Droid Razr and attempted to download the new update this morning.  My phone has powered down and will not power back on.  I have done the forced re-start several times & nothing.  The phone starts to power-up and turns right back off.  My phone was fully charged before I attempted to install the update.

Try holding power + vol up and vol down keys simultaneously (all at the same time).  It should bring you to the bootloader menu, use volume down to go to recovery, press volume up to select it.  An android lying on his back will appear, press the volume up and down keys at the same time, hold for about 5 seconds and release.  Scroll down to wipe data factory reset, use the power button to select it, it will go back to the main menu, scroll down to wipe cache, back to main menu and restart device.  If that doesn't work, try Verizon support on the phone and/or bring it in to your local Verizon store.

  • Droid Razr Calendar Events synced from Gmail not visible in month only in Agenda

In my old windows phone, I could see the events of the day in the monthly view, but on my droid razr, I cannot see what events there are in the monthly display but only in the agenda display.  I have searched and still not able to find if this is possible with the droind razr.  I can see in the Google calendar the events showing in the monthly display.  Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.  I love the phone, but not this lack of calendar visibility. Perry

    DroidRazr,
Good morning! I know the importance of a monthly view on the calendar, as I was just looking for this on my Galaxy Nexus the other day!  I recommend checking out the Android Market for a calendar application (or even widget) to get the experience that you enjoy the best! That's the great thing about the customization of Android. I'm glad you love the phone otherwise, I'm sure the Market will have what you need to love everything about the Droid Razr.
    Thank you!
